A good local theatre. Everything is admittingly old and worn, some of them even have an off smell so if you are sensitive to that you might consider it a bit worse. Has a variety of different seats but its nothing high tech. Kind of just reminds you of a local, rural theatre except they have freestyle machines. Food is nice, pretzel bites are low key a sleeper hit, just have to wait for them to warm and the staff and service are done of my favorites in any theatre and hold this place and its rating up. My biggest gripes is how they don't treat us like we can handle straws, they give you the stuff for your drink at the table, so you can't just get a new one without getting in line if your straw is a dud. The other is it won't show some of the smaller films and when they do its like a for a day at weird hours. All in all, great for the neighborhood but not likely worth dedicated travel unless you'll be in the area. read more

This modern-day haunted theatre is one of the most alienating places I've ever been. The box office is there, but usually that's done online anyway. Walk in, nobody's there. Scan the ticket yourself, find your theatre, sit down, shut up. That doesn't matter if the movie's good, but if it's bad you feel like you've been ghosted. read more

It's been about 5 years since I came here... miss the days when it first opened as Cinetopia... the first Digital theater in Portland and it was amazing as it served food, it had great seats, it was a great theater. Now .. no one at the door, people just wandered in, no one selling tickets, crappy seats that don't recline and very uncomfortable. 3 stars do not want to come back. While visiting Portland, Oregon went here to use my AMC A-List membership to watch Jurassic world. Not sure why there's so many negative reviews as it seemed like an OK theater. Pretty spacious and I liked how the restrooms are close to the theater rooms. Check in was fast and we had no issues with the service or staff. Overall a good theater. We didn't order any food though so not sure how the food quality is. Only issue was that the Internet signal both mobile and the wifi provided was very weak. read more

I loved this theater when it was a Cinetopia-so lux and high end. Now that it is an AMC my experiences have been a hit or miss. The smaller living room theaters are very well worn, with most ottomans having rips and large tears on it. All of the upholstered chairs need a good professional cleaning. My daughter has been a A-list member for several years and she purchased our family of 5 tickets the day after Thanksgiving. She chose seats 3-8 row D. When we checked in on the kiosks at the entrance it printed out different seat and row numbers. We sat in the seats we originally chose. A couple came in looking confused, and asked us what movie we were watching. The also had issues with what theater and seats they were in. Three other families had the same issue and there was a lot of seat shuffling. One family got really frustrated and asked the staff to figure it out but no help. Regardless we all watched the movie - no issues with the actual showing. Just as an FYI no one checked our tickets upon entering. The staff was non-existent. read more

Went to see the new live action of Lilo & Stitch with a friend. We chose the 3:45 showing as it is discounted at that time of day. The windows to check in at the front were closed and there were signs directing people to check in at the concession stand. There was one staff member at the concession stand managing, preparing drinks and food, and checking folks in for the movies. We got two large drinks, an icee, three boxes of candy and a popcorn for $55. The movie tickets were $30.76 for two people. When we went to fill our drinks there was an issue with one of the ice machines, luckily the other two functioned alright. The soda machines are touch screen and you are able to add different flavors to your soda of choice. The theater itself seemed as though it had not been updated or cared for in several years. Many of the seats had large cracks in them. It was easy to find intact seats to sit in since the theater had probably less than 10 people in the viewing though. The restroom was pretty dirty and there is not much room between the toilet and the stall door. I also found it strange that the sinks were about 20 feet away from the paper towel dispensers. A little bit spendy for the quality of the experience. read more

It feels like they are trying not to spend a dime to invest in this theater. The furniture in the theaters are showing their age with cracks and scratches. It does not match the premium experience that is marketed. Staffing is minimal and it feel like the whole thing is being automated so that basically one person can run the whole operation. Oh my gosh. Where to start.... The seats are incredibly old, uncomfortable, and even sometimes, broken. The movies are TOO loud, talk about sound immersion, you can't even hear yourself swallow. Soda machine does NOT have working ice. Two sodas... you'll never guess... $15. Yeah. $15. This theater is in desperate need of an update. The theaters are old school with old torn up seats with zero leg room. The entrance does not have someone checking tickets and this caused our party to not get our seats we paid for. Another party was sitting in our seats and although they apologized and attempted to make it right when they discovered they were there 1 day before their tickets were valid, this incident would not have occurred if someone was monitoring tickets at the entrance. With so many nice theaters out there, we would not want to return here. The 2 stars might be generous. read more

We recently went to this AMC theater to see a movie. I ordered wine from their bar area. $16 for a very small glass of wine. Okay. But when I tasted the wine it was awful. I went back to get a different glass and was told by the manager that alcohol cannot be returned, once poured. I kind of get that but I wanted an exchange to another type since that glass was so bad. Upon reviewing their wine selections, they only serve bottom shelf wines..and charge $16. That's my rant. Don't buy wine there. It's awful and they charge way too much. read more

Theater only had two employees working concessions on a Saturday night. No one checked tickets on the way in. There was no popcorn made - had to wait 15 minutes to get our order making us miss some of the previews. Our seats in Auditorium 10 did not recline although the theater was set up for reclining seats with very wide aisles. Did they have recliners and remove them? These seats seemed worn and didn't even rock much- like sitting on a bus bench. Just not a very nice theater- needs some serious attention. Until then we will be at Cinemark 16 Cedar Hills going forward. read more

Went to the single showing of The Abyss special edition tonight. First off, buying tickets at the concession desk is weird and feels like a cheap way to sell food. I'd rather buy from an automated kiosk like they have at Bridgeport. Also this system would be awful during busy season and child X can't decide what candy or drink they want as they quickly achieve pre-diabetes status. Meanwhile all you want to do is get tickets and move. Dumb! Also, every single worker there had no idea what The Abyss was. Yes I'm sure they were all 18-25 years old but guys... are you not fans of film? Sad. Got a poster. Movie was fun to see huge. Sound was ok. Not crazy like the Star Wars special edition trilogy work was in 1997. Theaters was 60-70% full by start. Sat in the top row right of center. Dude next to me ate a giant popcorn and drink and was fading in and out sleepytime style. Then he took his poster and rolled it up like it was a weapon super tight and kept rolling it so it made a noise. His phone went off midway with a bad ring tone and he struggled to turn it off. To my left 5 seats away was some old greyhaired lady that kept checking her phone every 15 minutes and would sit forward so you could see it from many seats away. Ugh. People suck. Seeing this overall rating gives me great hope for continued moviegoing in this region. First off, I don't care about Cinetopia's backstory. For a decade or more, my family has been trying to tell me about this mini chain as if it's offering something tremendous. "They'll bring food to your seat!" That's any McMenamin's theater. "There's alcohol!" Literally every theater in Portland has beer and wine. "But it's mixed drinks!" Ever heard of Living Room Theaters? No. Instead I have to be dragged into the middle of some suburb that's half Colorado Springs, half Scottsdale, driven into a sprawling outdoor mall in an old rock quarry with no transit or other means of escape and forced to pay what amounts to highway robbery for tickets and concessions (honestly, about double full price at any independent Portland theater... or the Cinemark right across town at the much more manageable and Max-adjacent Cedar Hills) and sit there being told how great the place is. "But the seats!" What do you think theater seats are like now? There are fairly standard, to the point that Cedar Hills had them eight years ago and even smaller theaters like the Bagdad and Laurelhurst have started installing them. Even the theaters, which I was told were supposed to be technological marvels, had sound and screen quality on par with my movie houses of choice. The place was fairly empty when we went on a recent Saturday afternoon, and I can't say I'm stunned. "Progress Ridge" (which is a helluva name to give a place that's basically an early 2000s mall built too late) seemed built for suburban subdivisions and kids from a generation ago. My cousin said it just got here in 2011, but it looks like a place where people lined up to see Toby Maguire in Spider-Man before getting fro-yo and going bowling. It's Middle American nightmare fuel that makes you realize why Middle America blames "Hollywood" for its hatred of the movies. If I was paying 16 bills to watch a movie and another $24 for a snack combo, only to find out some bozo saw the same movie with the same amenities in Portland for $20, I'd be grinding every axe I can find. It's grim in the 'burbs beyond those downtowns, so unless this is your lone entertainment oasis, just steer clear. read more

Watched Avatar: The Way of Water Walking in, no staff checked for our ticket. Makes me wonder how many people are just walking in, and grabbing unoccupied seats for a free movie? The lights came on on three separate occasions when watching the movie. I have to say, since Cinetopia vacated ownership, this theater has really went downhill. read more

Love this theater, it has a bar and restaurant in case you want to have dinner first then enjoy your movie. Theater is always clean, I just wish this place had reclining seats. Staff is always friendly and helpful. There's also other things to go after or before your movies, there's ice cream shops, boba, pho etc. Highly recommend. read more

The theater smelled like urine when I went to ask for a refund I was told "that sucks I wish I could help" then a manager went to smell and said nothing smelled wrong to her I then request another refund just asking to get my money back and she said I needed to leave and it sucked for me. Never go here or take your business somewhere else, they are absolutely awful and disgusting behavior from this theater and their management. This theater had no heat today. I had not visited it in a few years, although do remember it was cold in the past. Even with my jacket on the entire time, it was chilly. This was in theater 2. The seats were average. It did appear clean overall. There were no employees in the lobby to scan our tickets so we just walked to our seats. The audio cut out twice during our movie, the second time resulting in the manager coming in to inform us that the audio processor had died. We were given free ticket passes and the option to refund our popcorn, but it wasn't until we asked to have our ticket refunded as well that they did that for us too. The staff were extremely nice during this process, it was just a complete bummer that we were unable to enjoy the movie fully. read more

Lots to improve at this theater. It seems after AMC acquired Cinetopia, they did not have a budget to renovate this location. You can still see lots of the old theater's logo everywhere, which I don't mind. But at least hire enough employees to clean out the restrooms and theater floors, which are always sticky since there is no carpet. For some reason, they also leave the lights fully on during the previews, which is unfortunate because I like to watch them with dimly lit lights. As a result, a lot of movie goers are still talking loudly and looking at their bright phones, which distracts from the center screen. Also, beware of their "food delivery" when you purchase at the front because they sneakily tack on a $1 charge even though they advertise the service on every poster board without any mention of the fee. This location does have its pros, such as the large auditoriums, which allow for more movie times. As an A-lister, I like to book at least two in one day so I have many time choices. I also like the intimate theater they have for select screenings, which has pillow cushions and sits only a select few. The tickets are very pricey though and I wouldn't purchase them, had it not been for the A-list program. read more

This review is based on the dining room. A great space that used to be worthwhile. I am surprised AMC discarded what once was a great experience. They even got rid of the fabulous local beer selections. This is the first time we've been here since AMC purchased Progress Ridge Cinetopia. We ordered beer and food in the restaurant. They were surprised we wanted to eat in the restaurant and then when the flatbread came out, it came out in a cardboard box like a to-go box. No utensils or napkins. Nobody else is in the restaurant. The Beer, which used to have a great local selection, is subpar. And they don't give it to you in glass, even in the restaurant, (not environmentally freindly). And to top off a bad situation, they charge more than they did previously. NO TABLE SERVICE, oh, you have to order at the bar. And staff acts completely uninterested. I requested napkins and they had to go to the back room, they didn't even have any at the bar. Absolutely do not eat here, unless you are wanting to eat during the movie. What you see in the picture was $39.50 When I asked the staff about the restaurant side, one said poor service, poor beer selection, lesser quality food and higher prices. I have not been back to this theater since it was Cinetopia and when it was Cinetopia it was looking pretty run down. It always made me pretty sad as to ticket prices and clearly the rooms are set up to make you feel like you are in a nice living room when the reality is they used poor quality pleather for all the most heavily used surfaces clearly not having genuinely use and abuse done to it so everything looked pretty dumpster ready. I will say some nice distractions were some of the nicer upholstered chairs here and there and art which was hung everywhere - the art work was actually quite nice. Cinetopia had really made me upset with ridiculous customer service issues so it took me a long while to want to go anywhere near them since I had so many other theaters to choose from. Fast forward a few years and arrive during a pandemic. Most of the theaters are closed which is understandable and I am in solo mode as well venturing out for groceries etc. and keeping a safe distance, wearing my mask properly (it's not a chin guard folks!) but I saw Godzilla Versus King Kong on my TV which is a large TV with surround sound etc. etc...this movie demands to be viewed on the big screen. It has been "in the theater" and out for a bit so I started stalking movie times etc. I was the only person in my showing which was perfect and I must say lounging in the back row watching my first thing on the large screen was wonderful. I have to also say that sure my experience going in was great - genuinely the two guys out front were super nice...the customer service itself was great - they explained how to move about etc. plus one of them was kind enough to go grab me a stalk of napkins when I expressed I was silly and totally forgot. Plus they were offering trays for me and just really expressing helpfulness which is always appreciated. That was a refreshing change to Cinetopia where I legit was treated horribly by THREE people standing there staring at me. With that said... I was looking at the whole new menu etc. and realizing that since it is a completely different company I was now dealing with a whole new menu. I was very excited to see cherry slushies are still available and they now also have cherry coke zero. I was so excited to try things and Cinetopia used to have some of my favorite popcorn. I saw a chicken avocado sandwich and was so excited to try it. So first I got comfy and took my time. I was genuinely not happy about having to butter my own popcorn. So folks love this - I like mine with a ton of butter layered. So I hardly buttered honestly because the machine was a bit challenging to use and seemed pointless since I could not layer. I was so excited to have my first movie popcorn in over a year and I met a mouthful of salt. That popcorn is covered in it - like epic and whoa... If you are making me butter my own popcorn, why are you adding enough salt to give me a stroke? Thankfully the cherry slushie was just a cherry slushie and tasted great because I needed something to counter that unexpected salt lick. My food looked great and I was really excited seeing super fresh looking vegetables - especially a quality lettuce and red onion and tomato. I was confused since the word avocado was in the description and there was no a single piece of avocado on the sandwich - maybe the fact that they packed enough lettuce to be a salad...its green right? Green = avocado...? The piece of chicken was less than 1/2 inch thick and all I could taste was some type of herb making the experience not good. Like in a salad I want to taste the lettuce still. I have an herb garden and love using fresh herbs to enhance my food. This was like...oh hi oregano...I am going to start eating you now. Ok, I will eat the fries to counter that...OH MY SALT....so... If you would like to eat seasonings...go here. I mentioned that awesome customer service at the start.... And that's where it ends. I get it...it is a pandemic and there are not a lot of customers etc. I am the only person in the theater but they never turned the house lights down even so my whole movie I have BLARING overhead lights. Gratefully I was still able to watch the film and enjoy it but I legit had a headache the next day because those are some crazy bright lights! And as I was leaving it was creepy - I could not find anyone after the movie started - I had not tasted my food. So I was left with food I could not eat, overheads I could not get off and frustration. As I was leaving I really noticed all the missing painting they used to have and that they had not even tried to repair the walls so the entire long hallway looks crazy damaged with holes and scrapes without an attempt to look ok. The entire place really just looks like a scary alley - at least the pick up the trash? So I was grateful to be alone but there is definitely a reason I was the only person who wanted to be there and it would take me something pretty epic to go back. read more

Saw a movie here in one of their movie parlor theaters. I was surprised at the small number of seats available when I made the reservation. Upon entry though it was obvious that this was going to be a different movie experience. The theater was like a very comfortable personal screening room with mostly sofa like cushioned seats with ottomans. Having an overpriced beer was the topper to the experience. It would have been an uncomfortable experience if all the seats were occupied though, especially in the covid era. It felt so intimate. read more

I hadn't been to this location in roughly a year, and it's clear this location is no longer well kept. One staff member at the counter for concessions, and no other employees in sight. Purchased tickets on Fandango, and walked into our theater with no one even scanning tickets. We were in Theatre 11, and the chairs were run down (faux leather seat arms cracked, metal cup holders dented, rocking worn out) and a speaker tweeter was blown. Certain vocal frequencies were fully distorted, and the overall audio balance was horrible. Ended up leaving and went to Cinemark, and it was a completely different experience in the best way. To cap it off, because we booked Fandango, we were unable to be refunded. All that to say - don't spend your money here. Learn from us and book the first time with a different better theatre. read more

Just left this theater and I'm still in shock as to the extent of its decline. Drove the extra distance to come to this location because I had fond memories of how posh and inviting the living room auditoriums were. It's barely recognizable now. Auditorium #2: Seats are uncomfortable and worn. Armrests are immovable. No ambiance whatsoever. No more upscale food options, restaurant or delivery to ones seat. Concessions are as pricey as Disneyland, but with fewer options. I truly wish we'd had dinner beforehand as a Totino's pizza would have tasted better than their flatbread pizza. Bathroom was clean, but several stalls were closed for repairs. The tape all over the doors made it look like a crime scene! "A Man Called Otto" was great a movie. If only we'd read these reviews first and gone elsewhere to see it! read more

Staff are great but the location is very run-down. Every seat either had a hole in it or stains. Bar didn't have half of the liquor needed to make drinks, not even a simple margarita. We got a refund for our tickets and will try out the Vancouver location next time. read more

Wi-Fi is bad, seats suck, seems really old, bathrooms need attention. They don't even check your tickets at the door. You can just walk in and go see any movie. Literally. They don't check. Feel free to just go see movies for free!! Bar is good I used to go to the AMC in Arizona all the time and they are leaps and bounds better. They have heated, recliner, mechanical seats. This has really gone down hill since Cinetopia sold to AMC. I just tried to buy tickets, but along the way it kept pushing me to sign in, so I did. Doing that removed the tickets I had but also locked the seats I chose from being selected even though I know they aren't purchased. Without Cinetopia, I'll stick to Regal. This theater might as well close the bar and food area because they never have anyone to service the area. We were there Saturday at 6:30 and we wanted to drink and there was nobody that could serve us something simple thing. Went to see an audio video production here, wow, amazed how terrible this experience was. I have to assume all AMC theaters are like this at this point based on my only experience post covid. Video: Weird vibration/shimmering happening during high contrast or high motion scenes. Made me and one of my two kids there feel somewhat nauseous. Sound: Poor audio mix, music either too low to even notice, or voices overlapping each other, audio clipping during loud or intense scenes. It could have been the movie i guess, kung fu panda 4, however i've never seen such tin can quality sound presentation at a theater, home or commercial, before. Seats: probably the worst part of the experience as a whole, seats were sub-airplane quality, and appeared to be sloped downwards sort of like anti-homeless/loitering public seating, or those toilets some insane offices install to reduce time on the john on the clock. My kids and i were constantly shifting around, uncomfortable, and sliding off the front of the seats (wear high traction pants if you come here). Talked to the "manager" i guess? they turned up the sound - didn't follow up at all, however their lack of action creates a clear vacuum of space, where the thought, "Never again" now resides. Honestly doubt even if the entire experience, tickets, food,etc, were refunded, we would ever try this specific spot again. Overall, 0 of 3 Stars, as a real world rating, all three things you do at a movie theater were poorly delivered, Watching, Listening to a show, while sitting. Terrible read more
