I haven't been to a movie in forever, but I enjoyed coming here. The theaters were clean. The chairs were automatic recliners. Super comfortable and you get to pick your exact seat. Thre picture was clear. Popcorn and snacks are offered. However, there was no alcohol service. Otherwise, this theater was perfect for a catching a local movie.

At first it's like waking into an outdated 80"s Cinemaplex, but once you get past the concession stand you find inside the actual theatre is a little more updated and trendy. We are particularly fond of the comfy seating; soft leather feel reclining seats with plenty of space between the isles. The best part was, Very easy online ordering of tickets. It's a chance to be a kid again and enjoy the experience!!! WW84 movie however was a bust, not what was expected at all....I can watch a love story at home in bed!!!

Can they put some money into replacing a seats?

The theater is pretty run down inside. It used to be really clean and neat, but hasn't aged well.

I'll begin by saying it is good to have a movie theater at the mall again!…read more For the last couple years, many of us who wanted to go see a movie had to go to another town to see it. I was definitely one of those people. My last movie when Regal was here was Sonic 2, and this last night I went, the movie I had gone to see was Sonic 3. Every movie I had gone to see between these 2 movies I had to buy a ticket to go see in Norwalk, and sometimes I would have to call Ubers to make part of my trip home from a movie. Avatar 2, Transformers Rise of the Beasts, and the Furiosa movies were the movies in which I had to employ this method. So yeah, I am thankful to have had Apple Cinemas move here. But don't think that will get you an automatic 5 because, well, it's not. See, when I got here last night, this theater looked like a ghost town. The pocket areas where we could go to the bathroom were closed off, so if you need the bathroom, you have to go into the mall itself. This can quickly become a problem if the main mall had already closed for the night. You can however still go to the bathroom after you pass through the checkpoint where you get your ticket okayed to go. The lobby is basically scorched earth because there's nothing there anymore. I used to love coming in early and playing the arcade machines to kill time before the movie. It was one of the best things about movie nights. Even the old location of Apple Cinemas had something for me to do when I went to that location for the last time. But now there's nothing. Come on! Bring these back! They were so much fun! Concessions are back-to-basics in terms of what's available, but buying concessions are a bit of a pain now. They need to simplify this if they expect people to buy popcorn or any other kinds of snacks. The recliner chairs thankfully are still here. They do look messy when you walk in, but they still work fine. I'll give them a 3. This place still has their kinks to work out and hopefully Waterbury residents can stay in town for their movie nights going forward. My main things this place needs to improve on is their methods of purchasing concessions and they REALLY need to bring back the arcades!

Cinestudio is an independent film theater that opened on the campus of Trinity College in Hartford,…read moreConnecticut in February 1970. It was founded by a group of Trinity College students that included Peter Stott, Ted Kroll, Peter McMorris, Charles Rumsey, James Hanley, Anne Risdon, Larry Stires and Randy Man. The group of film-obsessed students made a home for themselves in a little-used lecture hall inside the Clement Chemistry Building. The room, unfortunately, possessed troubled acoustics. Within two years, and with the help of Ralph Mauro from National Theater Supply and Lonny Jennings at Dolby, the sound issues were rectified and the room was transformed into a recreation of a 1930s film house. The grand opening (a double feature of "Alice's Restaurant" and The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine") was sold out. Cinestudio screens a variety of second-run, independent, foreign, and classic films. The single-screen venue has a seating capacity of approximately 485, 4K Digital Cinema systems, as well as 35mm and 70mm film projectors for use in studio archive presentations. Cinestudio features a spectacular gold Austrian screen curtain that rises at every show, real balcony seating, and the gold lion courant insignia. I recently visited Cinestudio for the first time. I read about it and an online article and couldn't believe that I had never heard of it before. I parked in a small parking lot on Summit Street and followed the sign which led me through a stone archway. As I walked along the Main Quad, I saw the neon color-changing lights of Cinestudio. Entering Cinestudio is a blast from the past. I purchased my ticket at the Fred Pfeil Memorial Ticket Booth (only $10 a show) and then headed to the concessions area where I purchased a giant bucket of popcorn for only $5. A volunteer told me, "The balcony is nice, but if this is your first time here then I recommend the lower level. You can hear the sound system much better." The interior of the theater was absolutely gorgeous with red accents. The film that I was seeing during my visit was the 1978 remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers": part of the theater's ongoing series "Our National Nightmare: 2026 Anxieties in 1970s American Film". Many screenings at Cinestudio are introduced by a guest speaker; this one featured Roger Benham. Although I have seen this film a number of times before, this was my first time seeing it on the silver screen....and it was so much more frightening now. This was my first visit to Cinestudio, but it certainly won't be my last!
