This theater is okay. The screens seem small and it always seems crowded. The bathrooms are often dirty. I come here out of convenience when visiting relatives in the area but they definitely have room for improvement. read more

When the Regency opened back in the 80s it was the nicest theater in town. An expansion in the 90s made it one of the biggest in town.. eventually boasting 20 screens which was unheard of at the time. Then about 10 years something happened and the place started to decline rapidly. Now it's a shell of it's former self.. a nasty messy theater. You'll first be struck by how dingy and dirty everything is. The carpet looks old, the floors are dirty.. everything has a run down look. Like the theater in a dead Mall. Only the Regency isn't in a dead Mall it's in the heart of Brandons thriving retail district. On my last visit (5/10/18) I was greeted by popcorn strewn all throughout the lobby.. nobody seemed to care. I got to my theater and yeah it was the old crappy seats.. forget the nice recliners all the new megaplexes support. My assigned seat though was filthy, gum stuck to the arm rest. My friends seat had garbage shoved in the cup holder from some previous showing. It's obvious nobody is cleaning these between shows any more. This isn't even dead Mall theater careless, this is $1 theater bad. To top it off the movie wasn't projected correctly with obvious keystoning in the image. Even the projectionist doesn't care anymore. I rarely go to this theater and after this experience I'll probably knock that down to 'never'. With 2 brand new theaters just down the street in Riverview you'd think the Regency would at least attempt to try to better themselves but it seems they've just given up. At this point they are an embarrassment to AMC.. Don't waste your time here. read more

I wouldn't come here if you are running late, coming on a weekend night, not wanting to walk far from your parking spot, or not a fan of teenagers. I have encountered all the above things to the extent that I try not to go here anymore unless it's my last option. Sometimes, however, they do have convenient movie times that other theaters don't have. Carlos is right. This place is AWFUL. And guess what? It's not getting any better! He reviewed this in 2006 and yet, here we are. The sound quality is not existent, the screens are still running film (rather than the optimized digital), they recently raised their prices (again) for tickets AND concession. There are kids loitering outside until all hours of the night, parking is in terribly lit areas that I don't feel comfortable walking through, etc. Honestly, there is no redeeming value here. NONE. Do yourself a favor and drive the six miles up 75 and go to the Muvico out there. Digital sound and projection, helpful employees and while it's still expensive, you feel like you get your money worth. read more

If I could give a worse rating than a single star I most certainly be giving it. I would rather drive an hour to go to the Veterans AMC than go to another Dolby IMAX at this theater. The customer service, ha sorry I can't even say that because they don't know what that even means. It's sad. I've now given this place multiple opportunities and it's been nothing but horrendous. They never have any food even my nephew commented that they always forgot to do the shopping lol that was cute and people walk in without anyone checking tickets. The premier line is slower than non premier. The food they do have taste bad. I wish I could give a positive review, unfortunately their just isn't anything positive to say. Heck even the atmosphere of who's there isn't good. I'm truly shocked this place even has returning clients. This is my official last time going. What a dump. I pre-ordered tickets online. When I arrived, all 3 digital kiosks were offline. There was one inexperienced seller in the ticket booth and a line of at least 20 people. My wife went in to see if we could find a working kiosk inside or pick up tickets at the courtesy desk and was told No. When I got to the one ticket seller I told him I was picking up tickets and he said I can just walk right inside. By this time a second seller had arrived and had to explain to him that No, I couldn't just walk inside. He had to give me tickets. I'm now 15 minutes into this, where as at every other theater I would be inside sitting and relaxing. We finally get our tickets and go in. We saw 1917, for the most part a quieter movie. The theater was constantly shaken by the loud noise of whatever movie was next store taking us out of the enjoyment of our movie. Overall one of the worst movie experiences I have had in year. read more

Why do I come here? It's convenient to where I currently live. . .this is why I come back. It's not a big huge production with logistics or parking to catch a movie last minute. Seats are assigned (when I purchase on Fandango at least), and I like that as well. The seat arms can be lifted to allow for cuddling or stretching out if need be. They have no problem with me bringing by blanket. The wall art reminds me of 80's roller rink decor where I used to hang out. . . I love purchasing tickets on Fandango, skipping the line, and just showing my ticket on my iPhone wallet. And Fandango keeps track of everything I have watched. . . This theater is just ok. I have been coming for years, but only because it is the only theater in the area. They do have the choose your seats option now which is great. Going to this theater to see a new movie use to be miserable before they had choose your own seats. You had to come at least 30 minutes before the show time to have a chance at sitting next to your family or friends. Other pluses are that the seats are big and comfortable, and most of the theaters have lots of seats. read more

This place is terrible. The parking is nonexistent on a busy night, in fact it is nonexistent almost anytime. This place was designed by the letters GED if you ask me. There's plenty of available space around the property, two words "parking structure". The crowds are unmanageable due to the design of the theaters and their location within. The management is terrible, the staff tries, but is handicapped by its leadership. Also they have no crowd discipline as well, in other theaters (even AMCs) they will not allow loitering in the hallways to hold social hour. Also no one wants to tell a patron to keep the commentary to themselves when they are holding social hour in the theaters. This is the absolute filthiest theater I have been to ever. The soda area had trash over flowing and was wet all over. My seat had food in it. They clearly don't clean the theater after each showing. The popcorn were stale asked for fresh ones and they were stale too. Looks like they're was no manager on Duty because I asked to speak to one. This place was a mess and I will spare the details about the bathroom. In all it looks like the theater had not been clean from the day before. So disappointed. read more

I can't give this movie theatre a very bad review because it is by far not the worst theatre I have been too. The service isn't bad here either. The seats are a little older but I have noticed them getting newer seat in some of there theaters. As for talking about the second concession stand I have noticed it being open most the time I have been there and haven't had a problem with topping for popcorn. The sound quality of the theatre is great also it is very crisp and it depends on the movie the surround sound will shake your seat. This spot like all other movie theaters is a middle/high school hang out spot so you should expect that. I really haven't experienced any of what the previous reviews have said not saying that its not sometimes like what they are saying. It does need a new face lift though the outside is very plane. But overall it's not a bad theater. UPDATE:..... They just did a complete update to the interior of this theater. The inside concession areas have been completely redone and they have the new coke machines with about every type of coke product there is. From what I noticed they have replaced all there seats with new leather reclining seats. This is definitely one of the best movie theaters I have ever been too. They have also done an update of the outside of the theater repainted and put up a new sign it looks a lot better. They have done alot of great improvements of this movie theater. read more

Ok my local theater. Close within walking distance. Not sure about assigned seating! Long lines as people try to figure out the durn seating charts. Very Very confusing. I suppose if pre purchasing online for an opening a good thing, BUT I usually go for the experience and the popcorn. Don't like the assigned seating. It actually looks a scam to get the $2.50 service charge for purchasing online. Now I admit it was Christmas day but come on clean the theater! Our assigned seats were filthy. The entire theater was super outdated and dirty. There were no electronic kiosks or even people at the ticketing windows. There was just one employee inside that you could buy tickets from. Inside the theater, it wasn't stadium seating. If someone taller sat in front of you, you were screwed. The seats were super old and the fabric on the chairs was gross and dated. This is the closest theatre to my house, but it is not my favorite by a long shot. It's not the cleanest, and is not the friendliest of service, but the last two times I've been here, it's done the trick. As for the assigned seating thing goes, I don't necessarily like it, but I can see the need for it if they're selling out. A buffer seat between every couple could hinder sales. On the other hand, I would like the option to move if it's not a full theatre. Tonight, I watched a 3D movie in the IMAX. It was pretty good, but is it supposed to be so loud that everyone leaves with hearing damage? I felt like I needed ear plugs. I know a loud movie helps with being captivating, but I think they would have been okay with about 1200 less decibels. Also, the fake leather seats made my butt sweat (I feel sorry for the next person to sit in that seat). One big complaint I have is the lights didn't fully dim. Hey were left on bright enough to cause a reflection/glare in my 3D glasses. Quite annoying. read more

This theater USED to be the nicest one around. Now.. the seats all falling apart, the Dolby theater seats barely work, and they dont use the red light set up. The bathrooms are dirty and the place looks like they dont care. If it werent for the fact I am on the A list program I might not go back. I guess I'll drive to the one on Bruce B Downs. I hate this AMC with a passion. Too many people flock here on Saturdays and most of them go to the movies just to walk the hallways and hang out outside the whole time they are there. I would not have a big problem with that if they did not disturb people during a movie by slamming doors open and closed and also screaming into the theaters. People just pick up their cell phones here during a movie and start to talk, it really upsets me when I pay seven dollars for a movie, I need to get better service. The management does not do anything about it's horrible establishment either. Like I said, I hate this place. read more

We went to see a movie here the other weekend, & were so-so with the theater after our visit. We wanted to see a movie in IMAX, & this was the closest IMAX theater, so we figured we'd give it a go. We hadn't heard great things about this AMC, but hey, anything is worth a try. We usually go to another theater down in the Gibsonton/Riverview area, & I think we agreed that we will continue going back there, even forgoing the IMAX 'experience'. Apparently, which this is possibly more of an AMC thing than this particular theater, AMC has a rewards program (most theaters do) where you can be a 'basic' member, or upgrade to a VIP-like status, where you pay a monthly fee to enjoy certain perks. Well we noticed this separation of 'basic' movie-goers, like ourselves, compared to these VIP members, when we were in line for concessions before seeing the movie. There were about 5 people ahead of us in the regular line, & about 2 in the VIP line. There were also about 3 cash registers/order takers open, along with the various people getting the food ready. The two different VIP members get called, & then a regular person. Then more VIP members walk up, & they too, then, are called up to be waited on. More people kept coming into the VIP line, & they kept waiting on them, only every once in a great while calling on a 'regular' line person. We stood in line for a good 15-20 minutes before even being waited on. Thankfully we were early for our movie so we weren't in too big of a rush, but still quite frustrating. When we mentioned our complaint to the cashier, he just said a quick, nonchalant sorry & acted like nothing happened. Oh well, good customer service is hard to come by these days anyway, so I shouldn't be surprised. As far as the movie theater itself, it was ok. Not anything fancy, but not terrible. The seats are older, & don't recline like some of the newer theaters do, & they just aren't overly comfy. They aren't necessarily uncomfortable, but not great, especially while sitting there for an almost 3 hour movie. The other thing was the speakers were almost too loud, especially during the previews/opening part of the movie. It was so loud that it made your ears hurt, & I heard that comment after the movie from a few other movie-goers as well, so I knew that I wasn't the only one who thought that. If this theater is convenient to your house, then it's not the worst option, but being that we live so close to many other theaters, I would much rather drive an extra 5-10 minutes & go to a nice, newer, better quality/customer service theater than deal with this AMC. More than likely the only way I'd be back is if I have a gift card. Until then, maybe they can change how they serve customers, as well as update their theaters a bit better. read more

This is the last movie theatre I go to if I have an option; we only came here because we had AMC certificates to use and it was close to home. The parking area is always a mess and the theatre is a madhouse most times, especially on the weekend. I've been to other theatres that have more [friendly] staff there to handle the volume of customers. This theatre is NOT for those wanting a quiet night out at the movies as most who go there are kids who would rather play on their phones and talk or laugh the entire time instead of watching a movie that many of us paid 10$+ to go see. Make the trip and drive somewhere else that's better IMO. read more

I've frequented this theater since my teenage years, and it's nice to see the many changes that have taken place. From the choose your own assigned seating, to the newly installed bar, the comfy plush renovated seating, and even the Coke freestyle machines. But, even with all newly positives, it's here to ignore the drawbacks. It gets so crowded here with teenagers, and small children during the weekends and peak hours so make sure you plan your movie excursions well in advance or prepared to be annoyed. Also, try to buy tickets in advance or using the self-service machines since there's usually only one or two people at a time doing ticketing. The line was moving so slowly, I forgot where I was and thought I was at Walmart for a second. Flaws aside, if you plan right and go to the theatre during the down periods it can actually be quite enjoyable. read more

I've been here a couple of times now. The last movie, Terminator Genesis in IMAX 3D was good, but it's not been so smooth in the past. Once, the movie didn't start and my husband has to go get someone. This time, the lights were on throughout the movie. That was annoying. The IMAX theatre was nice and big. The chairs were more comfortable than other theatres I've been to. So far, the concessions have been good. Coke and popcorn has been my staple movie snack since I've been in America. We do Coke and popcorn in Thailand, but the popcorn is sweet. Also, Thailand has assigned seeing so I'm used to that. When there are lines, they move fast, and the service has always been friendly. This is not the best theatre I've been to, but it's not bad. read more

I was completely disappointed with this entire movie experience. AMC advertises that their theaters have the new electric reclining seats and shows pictures of them but when I get there and enter the auditorium they had the standard old seats that were nice, but not the new ones. When I asked a theater employee she simply told me those seats are in the front only, and in their larger auditorium. This is the first AMC theater that hasn't completely upgraded their complex, which I found to be an issue with management or AMC and their attempt to hold off as soon as possible to upgrade. This was the first and last time I'll go here, there are top end theaters close by that may charge a little more but the experience is considerably better. read more

It's in a terrible parking location as noted, but that's not really the theater's fault. All of Brandon is terrible parking. I've never found this theater to be unclean, so despite the trove of high schoolers (kids hang out at the movies, get over it people) I don't have a problem coming here. While I can understand some of the complaints about this theater, I think they overexaggerate the terribleness overall. Yes, on a Friday or Saturday night this place is overrun with tweens and teens loitering outside and seemingly paying no attention to the film inside. Often times, it would appear that they have purchased a ticket simply to have a place to talk and play with their phone in the dark. However, any other time of the week this theater is actually pretty solid. The majority of theaters are stadium seating with large screens, but the old ones from before their 12 theater addition leave much to be desired. In particular, the 2 theaters on the immediate left and right of the first concession stand are both tiny and have a gag-inducing popcorn odor (note: I don't hate the smell of popcorn, this is something much much worse. old? stale? moldy? who knows?). It's disgusting, avoid these at all costs. So, if you are going to a newer/bigger release (less likely to be in the old theaters/stench zone) and also avoid the Friday and Saturday night hoards you're golden. read more

I'd like to begin this by saying I love AMC. Being one of the large conglomerate cinemas with exorbitant prices on candies and popcorn (even though it's bomb popcorn), I think they are one of the nicer chains. I like the menus for food, and many of the cinemas offer assigned seating (also bomb) and adult beverages. Ok...now to the review on this location. Being Valentines night, we expected a high turn out. The lines were insanely long. They clearly didn't think everyone and their high school crush would go to the movies on Valentine's Day, being that it was not highly staffed. The layout of the lobby is very strange. After purchasing tickets, you cram into a small area of the lobby to have your ticket ripped for admittance. At that point, you can't move anywhere because of the length of the lines to the concession stand. I honestly do not think I have been to such an unclean dirty looking theatre in my life. Every trash can was overflowing to the point there was a circle of crap around the floor surrounding the cans. The self- service butter station had straw wrappers caked in butter, napkins covering the counter with butter and other condiment goodness dripping everywhere. I know....sounds just like somewhere you'd dream of attending on Valentine's Night. The bar area was clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful regarding the AMC Stubs program. The cinema itself was pretty clean and the assigned seating is clutch...again one of the reasons why I love AMC. My love for AMC, ironically on the day of love, was tainted based on this location. I drove out of the way to this location for the assigned seating, as the West Shore Plaza location doesn't offer assigned seats. It was just gross, gross, gross. This AMC has 2 concession areas but every time I come I'm forced to wait in long lines at the front concession just to pay to much for popcorn & drinks. AMC The Regency 20 - Cinema Near Me - Brandon, Florida

I haven't been to a movie in a while but I really wanted to see Magic Mike. I went to matinee on a Friday and discovered the reserved seating. So much for arriving early to get a good seat. Fortunately my seat neighbors were cool (a bit loud but I understood!). An ok experience so I decided to catch another matinee Sunday morning. Horrible idea! Too crowded, atrocious parking and rude patrons. I didn't even get out of my car! I then went with a date on a Friday night. Be aware that with online sales, shows will sell out early. The signage at the ticket counter is not up to date so after standing in a long line, we were told it was sold out! Gone are the days to impulsively catch a flick to relax... read more

I love movies! I generally don't like going to be movies though. But for this location: The good: -Alcohol is available for overpriced sale. -Assigned seating! This is really the only reason I can stand going to the theater anymore. -Self service kiosks -Online ticketing The bad: it's the movies: teenagers screaming, bad food, sticky floors, overpriced and terrible traffic etc.---I could go on. But if you are going to the movies, you know what you're getting. You have to deal with it or go to a 21+ theater (which only eliminates some of those things) The main take away here should be the assigned seating,online ticketing and there's plenty of places around to eat else where if you don't want movie food. read more

My friend and I went to see Catching Fire last night, which was AMAZING. The parking always seams like it is a challenge. We had bought our tickets online on fandango which was the smart way to go because if we hadn't we probably would have been late either from waiting in line to purchase them (there were only 3 people working the ticket lines) or from trying to find parking. The line at guest services did seam to move fairly fast once we got inside to pick up our tickets. Maybe its just me but movie snacks just seem so overpriced! it was $14 for a large popcorn and large drink!!! On the flip side, I do love that that have those coke machines with all the crazy flavor choices on them thou! Once we got into the movie someone was in our seats (since when did they start doing assigned seating at the movies??) but the moved once they saw us. The seats were large and comfy and the picture quality and sound were great. The theater overall was ok, could use a facelift. We didn't have time but I do like that that have a bar inside. Regency has definitely done some nice things to upgrade their look since I'd last been there (New self-serve soda fountains w/ all the flavors, bigger variety in menu options, healthy snack selections) Theater was clean and since we went early on a Saturday, our tickets were only $6.50. What may have once been a gold standard of movie theaters, I was not impressed! It looked dated and rundown on the inside. I'm a stickler for punctuality so when the move did not start on time (30 minutes from posted showtime), this place lost me. Very expensive ticket and concession prices compared to what I'm used to, but that could just be a regional thing. I 'm also used to selecting any seat in the theater, but seats are "Assigned" at the box office. I'm a fan of arriving early and being able to pick your seat. I am a regular movie goer and I usually choose amc because it feels like home. I love the new 20 for 3 movies a week that's insane. I can't afford it right now but i will soon. Your average movie theater. Been going to AMC theaters for years and this one doesn't stand out in a way that would change my movie-going experience to warrant a five star rating....well, not in a positive way, at least. I learned there are designated theaters in the AMC company that allow patrons to reserve seating ahead of time. While some might find this feature a plus, for the more spontaneous folk like myself who like to walk in and pick a seat without having to pre-plan, this surmounted to more of an inconvenience if anything. For one, it's a hassle to stumble through the dark to look for a seat number, in an empty theater, mind you, only to give up and sit down and then have to move one seat over because, what do you know, someone reserved seats right next to yours. God forbid, people don't get the right seat in a practically EMPTY movie theater. Not only did I have to move, but the guy two rows in front of me had to jump over a group of seats just to sit one row behind, because you guessed it, his seat was also reserved! As an added word of caution, be prepared if a group of rowdy kids kicks the back of your seat throughout the entire movie because even though they show you what seats have been reserved they don't tell you who's going to sit near you. Rant over. Other than that, the pricing is what you'd expect for food and drinks. Tickets were affordable for standard viewing. Seating was basic bordering on mediocre, not the best I've seen from AMC. Decent customer service from box office, floor staff, and vendors. Building was clean and the snack station was organized. To sum up, ok theater if in the Brandon area, but recommend AMC Westshore 14 in Tampa if you don't mind the 30 minute drive (traffic). It's located in the mall with a myriad of restaurants of all different tastes and price points to choose from, so there's something for everyone and plenty to do to keep yourself entertained on a night out. The employee in the ticket booth was great. The staff at the entrance could care less if we were there. Our ticket wasn't checked. We went to see a film in IMAX 3D and got the wrong glasses. Had to come back after the film started. Again completely ignored by the staff who were still standing around talking to each other like they were in high school not at work. But there is a bigger issue which may be a violation of the ADA (American Disabilities Act). In theater 8, there are stairs but no hand rails. I couldn't believe that Hillsborough County Planning Dept could have approved the building plans. It looks like where the hand rails SHOULD BE are multiple rows of one seat each. Not a safe environment. And not a Customer oriented staff. read more

I just tried to see a movie and we were standing in the premium line and the lady at the register kept skipping us. 3 different groups went in front of us and we ended up missing the start the movie so we just left. IT was a filthy Pigsty. Everything was gross. We went to see End Game... Entry was very dirty with garbage all over the floor. The bathroom garbage was overflowing, the floors were dirty, toilets were gross, and the soap was out. The theatre wasn't even swept up; had to clean the popcorn off my seat before sitting down. The trash in and outside of the auditorium was overflowing. The back concession was closed and the front line was about 20 people deep. One would think that with the biggest movie release ever there would be some more people working considering how much money they were raking in. Don't get the back seat if your 5'2", you'll only see half the screen. The grossest theater I've ever been to, food counter was licking her fingers and hands, then went straight to making a bag of popcorn for the guest in front of me. I was just getting a Snickers bag because she would have had the least contact with it. As the last guest in front of me finished, she wiped her mouth with the same napkin she had been holding crumpled in her hand for the past 5 minutes. The more sanitary food server was ringing me up, when the unsanitary one told her I couldn't purchase it because it was hers. I walked away without the item and she called out to me that she was joking. Seats are comfy. read more
