Worst dang theater to exist. This place is dirty and filthy and their employees are so rude!! We were trying to bring our reusable cup (btw this was an EMPTY cup which I have not had trouble bringing in any other theaters before...) but they were trying to make us place it on a table outside. I asked my partner if he could just bring the cup in so it wouldn't get stolen. Next thing you know this guy stops me and says "you can't bring that in" and I responded with "even if the contents are dumped?" He then said "if you had asked then I would've let you but you snuck it in." Like what??? Make that make sense, I DID ask. How are you gonna claim that I didn't even try to ask. They are SO rude. Not impressed with this theater. Came on a Friday night for a 5:45pm showing. $19 for the movie ticket. No reclining seats. The theater main area was filthy. They were completely out of coke in all machines, butter dispenser was out of order. For the price you pay, this needs to be addressed. Would rather go to another theater for the price. read more

I visited this theater last night to see Dune Part 2 on the IMAX screen. Great movie and the IMAX experience is worthwhile. Others have mentioned this theater has an older vibe to it and compared to the ICON theater just down the road, yes, this theater is a little older. The seats are not able to recline as much and they are not temperature controlled. You won't have full meals delivered to your seat like some of the newer theaters. However, there is nothing wrong with this AMC theater. Just know what you are going to get and plan accordingly. You are in a huge mall with tons of great food and beverage options. You can dine beforehand if you are looking for a full meal. The staff were friendly and the place is clean. The concession stand has good options for food and drinks. They have plenty of self-service kiosks by the ticket counter as well. Thanks for a good experience. read more

I really like this theater for what it is, an older family theater in a great convenient location. It's clean, comfortable, and service is fast. I went here to see The Shift and if you haven't seen it I suggest you do! I went midday on a Friday and it was pretty scarce. About 8 folks in the entire theater. I was able to sit near the top of the theater, right smack in the middle. You can't always do that. The food here is pretty basic, popcorn, hot dogs, flatbread, nachos. That's the main reason I removed a star. Most theaters now also have adult beverages, and include "premium" items like pretzels, corn dogs, wings, tenders, salads etc. My seat was comfortable but it didn't recline. I see some reviews say that some of the theaters do? I'm not sure about that. I'll definitely return when I'm looking for a simple movie going experience. Cheers~ read more

I generally like going to AMC's and this one at Tysons is OK. I've watched a couple movies here and had good experiences. Its just a bit far from me since there are some closer theaters near me that I tend to go to. But I recently got a prescreen from yelp elite to watch Dune part 2 in the IMAX theater. I haven't watched IMAX movies in awhile and so was pretty excited. The IMAX theater was large with a huge screen and had nice comfortable chairs but were not the electronic reclining ones. The sound was good and loud but there would be an occasional red glare on the screen that would pop up and that kind of bothered me. Other than that the drinks are refillable which is nice especially if you get an Icee. read more

I used to be a member here but switched to Look Cinemas in Reston Town Center. It's the inconsistent service that really gets me. Some of the theaters are amazing and have reclining seats. Some (13) are old and smelly, no reclining seats and it's overall more expensive than the competitors. I like the app, but to keep from having to pay service fees when making seat reservations, you have to join their second tier membership ($15/year). It's convenient to see a movie and then go eat and shop - but that's about it. read more

Been coming here for a long time to watch films in IMAX or Dolby. The IMAX screen and auditorium is amazing. I have seen Top Gun: Maverick, The Batman (2022), Avatar: The Way of Water, Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, The Brutalist, F1, and Twister to name a few movies in IMAX. The Dolby theater is really good too, but the seats look run down and the floor was a mess the few times that I have been there. It did not look clean or neat in there. Also, there are some blue neon lights on both sides of the theater that stayed on during the whole movie which others and myself included may find distracting and takes away from the dark atmosphere needed for some film viewing. Just my opinion! If that is how Dolby cinemas are designed to be, then so be it. read more

The seats, bathroom, and butter for popcorn area are quite filthy. Seats are the regular red carpet feeling seats you will find in many of the older movie theaters. I recommend going at night time. I went around 11 pm, and there was only me, my +1, and another couple in the whole theater! Love the privacy feeling of the night time movies. read more

Nice theater with the added bonus of an IMAX screen, perfect for big movie experiences. It's easy to access with plenty of parking in the mall lot. However, getting in took a few minutes because they check bags and IDs--likely due to it being evening hours. My usual AMC theater doesn't do this, so I didn't account for the extra time. The concessions area could also use some attention as it was quite messy during my visit, which detracted from the overall experience. Despite these issues, I'd still consider coming back for future showings. read more

Came here for an 8:00 showing on a Friday night. The line to check tickets moved pretty quickly and they didn't check bags. The seats in the theater weren't as comfy as the ones at some of the other theaters in the area and felt a bit more gross. But hey, it's a movie theater in a mall - that's expected. Also, we didn't buy any snacks but they were overall pretty overpriced. A bucket of popcorn was $9-10. Curly fries were the cheapest snack on the menu, around $6-7. Tysons Corner feels like a Mecca of capitalism and as such I feel like should house a flagship theater. The AMC theater doesn't hit that bar, but it's a perfectly adequate theater in which to watch a movie. The good: Auditorium 11. It's the only (?) auditorium in the theater to have recliner seating which ... I mean ... why would you watch a movie without recliner seating these days? Unlike most auditoriums, almost any seat in the house is a good seat with nobody blocking your view and a great view of the enormous screen & stellar sound. Also... because they have so many auditoriums you're very likely to be able to catch the movie you want to watch here. And the food's tasty with lots of options. The not so good: Everything else. Walk in with two arms and two legs, hobble out with one of each after ponying up for tickets and concessions. The recliner seats in auditorium 11 are definitely showing their age. It'll be iffy on the cleanliness of the joint. The hallways are showing their age. The staff is highly variable. On and on. So yeah, come here if what you want to watch is showing in Aud 11 and it's not playing elsewhere. Go to another theater for anything else. read more

We went to see Disney/Pixar's Elemental on Monday, June 19th. The movie was wonderful, but the theater was terrible. The employees were not interested in the customers. There weren't enough employees at the concession stand, and the concession stand was not clean. The theater itself was in terrible shape. We were there for the 4:10 show and the seats were dirty, and the floors were littered. Luckily, our two reserved seats were not as bad as the others. I went to the men's room, and the taps didn't work. Not one. In the theater the exit signs were out of order. The mall itself is nice. The mall was full and folks were shopping. The AMC was terrible and we are NOT going back. read more

AMC A-list member rating various AMCs throughout the country. This is my current home theater. Seats: Not reclining. I remember when the mall was renovated (around 2007?) and I think this AMC is too new for an update but too old for some of the amenities. No USB. Not heated. Screen: iMax screen is great. Others are good. Macguffins: Yes, but you usually have to ask someone to go man it even though it's a huge location. Usually the employees are annoyed they have to go make drinks and I don't blame them. Please hire a bartender or a dedicated swing employee! Snacks: Usually good, the AMC pizza is bomb at this location. Sometimes the drink machines are out or slow. Don't count on getting specialty buckets here, it's too busy of a theater. Crowd: Lots of rowdy teens. It's a mall. I was once a rowdy movie theater teen at this mall, though, so I can't complain. Nicole Kidman AMC ad: Yes! Overall: 4/5 plz get better seats read more

Came to watch the new Black Panther movie, Wakanda Forever. I like that the theater has a bar area to relax in, have a drink or two before or after your movie. Lobby and concessions are nice, modern and clean. The theater our movie was in had the old stadium style seats. I thought most theaters have transitioned over. You can't beat the AMC theaters at Tysons for convenience. There is very easy parking and access as well as multiple ways to purchase your tickets. The theater itself is decorated with older photos of people involved in film. I always find it fun to be reminded of how young some, like Ron Howard, were. Not all of the seats have been upgraded which is a shame. It is so nice to have big reclining seats and when they are not available, they are surely missed. The snack bar and common area are spacious enough and there are numerous bathrooms. Again, and most of all, it is hard to beat the location and convenience. read more

Watching F1 at Tysons AMC right now. This theatre sucks - stay at home. In the high rows, it feels like it's 80 degrees! On top of that, the screen is measly and laser not iMAX. I felt safe and really good being able to watch movies again after six months due to the pandemic. Theatres were finally able to open in VA and some other states. Honestly I was a bit uncertain but there were two movies that I really wanted to catch so I took the risk. Decided to select the matinee showtimes during the week so theatres would be pretty empty. In fact, they were! The first one we saw was at 12:50pm on a Wed and there were only two other people who sat far away. Glad the seats around us were blocked automatically and people did stay far away from each other. Saw the second movie in the Dolby theatre which had a few more people but the stadium seatings were good. Definitely a very different experience that watching movies at home. Disinfectant wipes were available in front of every theatre. Main women restroom was very clean and empty. We wanted to wear masks at all times so we didn't purchase any food/drinks. Everyone's comfort level is different so you decide if and when you are ready to go back to a movie theatre. For us, it was a good feeling after all but would definitely remain cautious...wear mask, wash hands/use hand sanitizers and maintain social distancing. read more

This isn't a bad theater. Today I saw the "sure to be a Oscar Winner" Cocaine Bear. Have seen quite a few movies here, and I wish this and all theaters well. Covid really hurt them. One annoyance is previews literally last thirty minutes now. Hoping with time a more reasonable number. The matinee price of $11.89 is middle ground, and not bad when you're in Tyson's Mall. Assigned seating is nice, but they need to upgrade here. Other theaters have reclining leather, here it's obnoxious red cloth seats. They aren't comfortable. As for the service it was good, and the theater screen is of fine size. Very good audio system. If you're in the area it works, but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

I'm a lifestyle influencer, and content creator in the DMV area. I had the pleasure to be invited to see the movie "Inside". The staff was cool, and the theater and screen was a good size. But for it to be in the Tyson's Corner, it's a little out dated. They can really use some updating. The seats was a little dirty, and on the nasty side, and that's a big pet peeve of mine. I'd give it a 0 if I could. Went to see Moana 2 today at 12/5 12:40pm in the Dolby one (#11) with my 3 year old and my mom. We were in seats H13-15. My mom gets up to take my daughter to the bathroom towards the end of the movie and while they were gone...here comes a MOUSE just scurrying along the TOP of the foot wall in front of me! Thank god the movie was about to end. I have not been to this AMC in years and won't EVER be back. unfortunately, this was the only theatre showing the movie during the time I needed. If you want to go to a movie that has good food and is very close in price and free of MICE, go to the movies at the Boro or Tyson's II. NOT HERE!' Introduction: Starting my AMC movie theater series now. Saturday, June 30, 2018 was a historic day for me. My friend told me about the AMC A-List program, and I'm still a member to this day. I've been to 14 different AMC's in the DC-Baltimore area. AMC Tysons was the first theater I went to in the A-List era. I had been to AMC Tysons on a few occasions prior to 6/30/18, and it was a relatively unmemorable theater. Since June 2018, I've been there relatively often and is my most common Virginia AMC I've been to. Pros: 1. 16 screens leading to a good variety of movies. More than my closest AMC Wheaton 9 until November 2020 until I moved, my closest is Center Park 8 or Columbia 14. At Wheaton & Center Park, you never get Dolby or IMAX while you do at Tysons. 2. Good location in the mall where there are a lot of food options to eat before or after a movie either in the food court or if you walk further to other areas of the mall. 3. In September 2020 after the 5.5 months Covid pause, Montgomery (where I lived) & Prince George's County had kept the theaters closed until late March 2021. Tysons was a viable option, and I would sometimes drive from Wheaton (where I lived until November 2020) to Tysons, and I would meetup with my good friend, who got me to sign up for A-List. Or even from Anne Arundel County, Russett since November 2020. Cons: 1. While I've never had an issue with the men's restroom, I've heard two women including my g/f at the time and a friend complain another time about how dirty the women's room was. My g/f talked to the manager about how bad it was, and we went again maybe a month later, and she said it was still a disaster. 2. I had tried to use a free popcorn deal here that was going to expire in days, and they took the credit I had built off instead. I complained to AMC, and they gave me more credit. Then, I was able to use the free popcorn again a few days later right before the expiration. 3. No reclining seats. Probably because Tysons is part of a mall and gets more crowds, and the reclining seats take up more space. The IMAX does have leather rockers seats, which is kind of nice. The one Dolby screen is the one exception with the recliners. read more

6/28/21 The Coronavirus did not only knock the movie business on on it ass. It picked up the movie business  up again and dropped it on its head. AMC Theater  was in the early stages of upgrading their theaters, but the shutdown changed things. So much so that the time and care that each movie room  has really paid off. The neon lighting so you can see in the dark helped. The lounge seating area is another new twist.  Each seating section has enough space for someone to get by you with the seat lifted up.   The seating section is also leveled at an angle so there is not someone's body blocking your view. The sound system by Dolby really brought this Fast And Furious 9 exactly to a whole new level.  It is one reason the price was much higher than I have ever paid before.    AMC had to find a way to earn their money back from this terrible pandemic.  Membership fees are yet another why for the movie place to make money, but not without benefits  for the people who get them.  Still, the changes are something I enjoyed while visting this theater again, but I don't know when.  The F9 experience was great, without a large crowd of people being there at the 12pm showing. Many people missed the special scene when Han Meets Decker Shaw, because they left as the credits started...  to bad for them. read more

Before my movie, the bathrooms were a mess, one toilet was clogged, the other was full of urine on the seat and wet toilet paper on the floor. The trash cans were overflowing with paper towels and there were more paper towels on the floor. The auditorium looked like it hadn't been cleaned after the previous showing. There was trash and used napkins in the cup holders, a popcorn bucket or two on the floor. It's sad that this place seems to have gone downhill, especially after the pandemic when health and cleanliness should be the gold standard. And after my movie, the bathroom still looked the same. read more

I was unimpressed with the Tysons corner, movie theater, and the cleanliness of this establishment. there seem to be a little control of the line and the place was a wreck. It used to be that Friday nights and Saturdays or prime time for movies. Nowadays, it seems like maybe we should just stay home where we know it's clean and don't have uninformed people running a theater. Not sure where the manager was or if there was a manager around, but it looked like this place had not been clean in hours. I went into a three hour movie and came out in the same napkins were still all over the soda and condiment stations. The floors were not vacuumed or even swept I did spot a broom and dust pan, but there was no attendant with those items. We drove 45 minutes to get to this theater and we did not find it worth your wild. The chances of us attending this theater again is slim to never. AMC must do better in order to get more people in the seats. The environment needs to be clean. People need to feel it is welcoming and I felt everything but that. I was hoping I didn't go home with any creatures the way this place looks it seemed that this was a normal way of running a business and no one had the time to stop and clean. this is unacceptable. We paid $$75 to see this movie and if it wasn't for five-year-old who is very excited, I would've walked out. People pay tons of money just to see a movie in a theater and this experience at the AMC in Tysons was unacceptable. After spending $75 just to get into the movies we then went to the concessions and spent another $55. There should be no reason that there are tons of employees in the establishment and it looks like there was a huge party in the aftermath is showing everywhere. also, we purchased IMAX tickets so that we could get some of the perks such as the poster that was promoted for all IMAX tickets. We did not receive a poster, and when I asked the service desk about those they had no clue where the posters were and who was supposed to get them. it is 2023 and people have many options when it comes to spending their Friday evening Saturday evening or even their hard earned money. Tysons is supposed to be an upscale environment. This is not the its theater. read more

Just like any other movie theater. Nothing special. They usually have decent amount of line. Located in the Tyson's mall, free mall parking is available. It hasn't been renovated recently, so it is not one of those new theaters with nicer reclining seats. You also can have the popcorn etc only, no alcohol inside.
