Ameco Solar installed my Solar system 3-4 years ago and everything went smoothly installation progressed on schedule and I was up and running. I had no problems until I switched internet providers and could not reconnect my Enphase to the internet so I could monitor my system production. I contacted Ameco and we tried to reconnect by coaching me through process but still couldn't connect. So they sent out a tech and the tech resolved the connection problem. Ameco installed my solar. I had a roof leak a year later and I called Ameco. They said it was not caused by the solar installation, but offered roof fix service for $6000. I paid for this service and the roof continued to leak. After frustratingly long delays in returning my calls, they finally sent over an inspector who told me that the leak was actually from the solar panels. No one from Ameco called me back for over a week. I then contacted them again and they said that the inspector told them it was not from the roof fix, so they had no plans to take further action. I replied, "that is correct, but he also said it was from the solar panels that you installed." They then sent a different inspector to look at the panels who said that no actually, the leak was from the same place as the $6k roof fix. He told me that they did "a terrible job fixing the roof leak." Ameco then offered to send over the same "terrible job" roofer to come back to attempt to fix the leak again. Before replying, I had another roofer come look at the "fix" and he said that charging $6000 for a bad roof fix was fraudulent. I am not sure what to do now, but I am sure that I do not recommend ever using Ameco. read more

We originally worked to get our solar installed and after the initial paperwork, it took months of following with both Ameco and SCE so that it could get permitted. It's frustrating to have to be the one to follow-up with both entities when each just keep pointing at the other as the reason for delays. We then paid for 6+ months of solar panels with them not generating any power due to the lack of prompt set-up.  After finally getting them up and running, we thought we were in the clear, but that was not the case. Within 3 months, the battery back-up went down and Ameco claimed it was a "manufacturer issue". After being told it would be replaced in 5-7 days, we are still waiting on the fix or replacement and it's been a MONTH. Without these delays, we would have saved THOUSANDS in electricity over the summer, but instead we've been yanked around, with no offer of a credit/compensation and zero interest in customer service. had a Tesla solar + Powerwall 3 system installed in early April. While the final outcome is that my system is now working well, the road to get there was frustrating. From the start, solar production was far below expectations, and after a complete failure in June, it took multiple service visits and the replacement of internal Powerwall components to finally reach the performance I should have had from day one. Communication was inconsistent, and I was originally given incorrect information about fire code that led to the Gateway being installed in a suboptimal location. To their credit, the team was responsive during the later stages, and I appreciate that the issue was eventually resolved. But a smoother installation and more accurate guidance would have made a big difference. read more

Response times are excellent--usually the same day or by the next day--and every interaction has been courteous, professional, and helpful. Tigran saved us $3500.00! Our solar panels were not producing electricity. Must be the ten year old inverter that the manufacturer, SMA, would not stand behind. OK, if I must buy a new model inverter, updated, state of the art- I have no choice - must do that to continue saving on my electricity bills. When the Ameco Solar technician came to remove and replace my old inverter with the new one costing me $3500.00 - he diligently surveyed my entire system and found that the problem was minor and they took back the new (expensive) inverter and gave me my money back. I chose AMECO after meeting with several solar companies. I felt good knowing that everything is under warranty for 25 years. What I didn't know what that any repair costs a $350 service fee. I've had the system for only a little over a year, and already 2 micro converters stopped working. While they are replaced quickly (for free, as they are under warranty) from Enphase, AMECO charges me to install them and replace the old ones. If 2 go out within a year, how often am I going to be paying that huge service fee?! I have since spoken with other solar companies, and each agree that $350 service fee is indeed very steep. While the tech arrived quickly, that fee is ridiculous. I now am just waiting to see if more micro converters fail. If they do, I just learned of a service plan from Enphase that will result in a technician coming free of charge (minus the yearly cost of the plan). Either way, I'm out $350/year that I was not anticipating. My advice to anyone looking to go solar - ask about service fees, not just about a warranty. read more

Had a solar system with 6 panels installed 2022. Have an EV and started driving more in 2025 so electric bill went up. I thought to reduce the bill, I'd add 6 more panels to increase output of my solar system and hired Ameco to do it (they didn't install the original system). 2 complaints. First, they apparently did something illegal so I can't describe it here because I don't want to be held responsible. Second, my electric bill about tripled after Ameco installed their panels. I called SDGE (utility provider) to find out what was going on and was told that by adding 6 more panels, I transitioned from Net Metering 2.0 to NEM 3.0 which greatly reduced what SDGE pays me for electricity my system generates. What I should have done to decrease my electric bill was not to add more panels but to add a battery, and SDGE said that any reputable solar company would have told me that up front. So by doubling my system output I tripled my bill#!!?!!! And there's no going back, I'm stuck according to SDGE. Thank you Ameco. read more

It's two years later and I'm still happy with my May 2022 experience with AMECO Solar & Roofing who I highly recommend. I did a lot of research on solar roofers and interviewed several before hiring AMECO. It's unusual to feel comfortable during a sales process especially when there is so much money on the line. But our salesperson Gus Waters applied no pressure and just walked us through our options as well as simply explaining his recommendations. Given the work that I do, this was especially meaningful to me. Our project manager Yazmina was communicative throughout the entire process. We always knew where we stood and the next step. Like any project of this scale, there are so many moving parts and it was wonderful to have them handle every last detail. One of the things that drew us to AMECO - in addition to their long list of happy customers - is the fact that they have been doing this work for over 47 years. Update: Every year since the the new roof installation in 2021 during raining season it leaks into my leaving room. Ameco has been contacted and advised of the issue. A person from Ameco comes to my residence unannounced (no calls to let me know they coming so someone can be there). The first time Asaaf who is a field super blame it on one of my solar panels footing and charged me $250 to patch the footing (which keep in mind Ameco removed my solar panels and reinstalled them once the new roof was installed). My old roof never leaked until Ameco installed the new roof. Ameco came out every year after rain passed and still leaks into my leaving room. I notified Ameco again yesterday 2/13/2025 and will see if they can find the root of the problem. Is very upsetting and frustrating that every years when it rains it leaks, and it leaks right where I sat down on my couch to watch TV during a 17 hour work shift. Hopefully Ameco can redo the the roofing problem area instead of patching it or adding more caulk. Seal the roof better. Then I will change the rating from 3 to 5. If issue does not get resolved, then I will have no choice to report them to BBB and seek legal advised. But first, I will give Ameco another chance. read more

I am writing this review, unsolicited and in support of Tigran who worked in the evening and weekends trying to get my solar panels to communicate with my app on my phone. I am not a tech person. I called Ameco and he helped me, spent time trying to reset and troubleshoot the problem! He faced time with me so I could reset the system, he even hopped on a call with spectrum to see if any blocks preventing the communication. I contracted with Ameco Solar to install a new roof and solar panels. The entire process from initial consultation to roof and solar installation was approximately 3 months. The initial estimate changed throughout the project due to my roof needing a new plywood deck, which was a significant increase in cost, and a minor increase in the cost of the solar panels due to some additional work I requested. The employees arrived on time and worked on the days they said they would be working on the project, they even worked on Saturday to stay on schedule. All the permits were pulled by Ameco, and the roof and solar passed the first inspection by the city after installation. After the workday, Ameco did a good job of cleaning up the job site and took care not to damage any of the foundation plants we had around the house. All Ameco employees involved in the project from the project manager to the roof and solar installers communicated to us the installation process and the steps involved, and were always available through text and email to answer and questions we had. In the end there was some work that was not done due a misunderstanding on my part, but Ameco roofers came back on another day and completed the additional work requested by me at no charge. Additionally, they left me with a new dustpan and broom as a replacement for my old ones. Overall, the roof and solar installation look fantastic, they did an excellent job installing the new roof and solar panels. The additional electrical boxes installed on the side of the house and the Enphase battery look great, from the conduit bends to the placement of the equipment show a pride in their work and was done expertly. I would definitely recommend Ameco to friends and family for a new roof or solar installation. read more

It took me 7 mons from signing contract to final operation, project got changed PM a few times due to lack of follow up and follow through until the right PM stepped in! But they don't mention that there is still the site survey and plans that need to be done which take weeks. I booked a virtual appointment to get an estimate on getting a new roof. I sat in the Zoom session for 20 minutes and the guy never showed up. I reached out to customer service and told them the situation. They apologized and told me the guy went to the hospital and they would give me a $500 credit towards the service if I picked them. Since my house is a bit old it began having a lot of problems. One of them being a super bad leak in my roof that happen to lead right above my ceiling fan. I was super scared my ceiling was going to collapse because it started to turn yellow and was starting to smell really bad. So I needed to fix it asap. They were quick on getting a quote for me and I had Idan who helped. He was super helpful throughout the whole process. It was also time for my solar panels to get cleaned since I got them last year. I never really noticed them because it was my dad's idea to get them installed. But Idan answered all my questions and gave me good tips on how to better care for them. The only thing I can recommend about this company is to NOT use them. I wish we had used western roofing instead as they had been recommended by my brother in law. Clearly ownership of this company needs to be more involved as this company will run into the ground if it continues to treat customers/work the way they did our job. Read below to see the timeline of our job that was supposed to take a week max which turned into nearly 2 weeks. Lack of communication from our "project manager" who was only able to "manage" our project because of myself constantly updating him since there was a lack of communication on their end. The entire job was messy and has been quite the nightmare to deal with. Timeline: 6/29 emailed colors to John Aranilla. Few days later got call asking if we chose colors and who we sent them to. 7/6 and 7/10 sent emails to John with no response. Tear off scheduled for 7/17. 7/17 no workers show and I called project manager who said we were double booked. Rescheduled for 7/20. 7/21 workers came unexpectedly at 630 to deliver materials. Was told work would start 7/21 after city inspection. No workers arrive because of "timing" issue. But told that work would be completed 7/22. 7/22 no workers arrive. Call project manager again and was told 1 employee had covid. 7/23 workers show unexpectedly to put paper on for rain and was not given any notice. Had to pick up 50-60 staples and screws after first day of reconstruction and more screws after every day thereafter. Final city inspection got "double booked and rescheduled" Had to ask for the screws and trash be removed from gutters after the job was complete. Furnace exhaust was moved and detached in the process and Ameco is blaming it on wind but wind wouldn't move it in a vertical direction. A frame doesn't have flashing completely covering the wood. See pictures. Was told by Don the GM that all of this is "human error" and should be excused. A 4-5 day job turned into 2 weeks! Terrible communication and lots of carelessness. read more

For our house in Seal Beach - Margaret Wong (project coordinator) and Roger Dahlmann (Energy Expert) sized and processed my rooftop residential solar through SCE wonderfully. The install team was also very efficient and left the site clean, the job passed inspection with the City easily. I also appreciated Margaret keeping me updated as we slogged our way though SCE's process. I found everyone I dealt with to be honest and very knowledgeable. I can't recommend Ameco highly enough. read more
