Food: 3.5 Service: 3 Ambiance: 3 We came across this restaurant on the way back to our Airbnb. Upon arrival it looked like a small restaurant, however there were stairs that led to the large basement with many seating. There were pictures all over the walls, perhaps famous people who have eaten at this restaurant. We were given a bag of bread (5 slices) while looking at the menu. It was not stated in the menu, that there is a charge for the bread, but we expected a small fee charge. So we ate it anyway. It tasted like stale bread, and while ordering, they took our unfinished bread away. They charge 1€ per person for the bread. We had high hopes for the food as there were many pictures of people on the walls. The bruschetta we ordered was big and very enjoyable, juicy and crunchy. The lasagna was good and had a good ratio between noodle and sauce. Personally, the cacio e pepe tasted like a cardboard box, however very aldente. It was my first time tasting cacio e pepe so I'm not sure what it usually tastes like, but I don't think it's supposed to taste like cardboard. For this restaurant, you go back up to the first floor to pay whenever you are ready! When we were paying, I saw a small cockroach on the walls crawling under a picture.

This place was perfect! Called ahead same day for a 7:30 res and got a table outside. My boyfriend and I got a half bottle of wine and shared: + Prosciutto di parma e melone + Bruschetta + Strozzapreti pasta with zucchini blossom flowers + Tonnarelli cacio e pepe + Green beans (seasonal veggie) The highlight were the prosciutto and the two pastas. Some of the best cacio e pepe I've ever had. As is typical of many restaurants in big Italian cities, just note that bread is 1€ extra. Service was great!

First nice sit down restaurant we went to since being in Rome... Sat outside.. Very friendly staff and the weather was perfect... Was going to try the artichoke but I was told out of season so they did not have any... Wanted the fresh mozzarella but didn't want the anchovies so he substituted for prosciutto. Which was very nice.. Ordered tomato brucheta also for appetizer. Such simple ingredients but so damn yummy. We also had past with clam and mushroom.. They were both very yummy. Teramisu was pretty good.. Not the best but still yummy.

Food was so so good. So fresh and flavorful. The waiter was very helpful when it came to recommending what to eat as well as a post dinner drink. I have a severe gluten intolerance, and of course they treat it very cautiously which is so comforting as a gluten free person (who wishes they could eat all the gluten!). My husband and I both ate the pasta carbonara (his was with regular pasta) and we both devoured every bite. If you're senza glutine, or not- come here! You won't be disappointed

Food was great. Service was great. Ambiance was pretty good for outdoor seating. Indoors may have been better. The white wine we had was awesome

We struggled to find "authentic" and "non-touristy" Italian restaurants in Rome. We tried the trick of walking a few blocks away from the main tourist attractions, but still found ourselves in the area where restaurants seemed to be less authentic. We found this restaurant that was an 8 minute walk from our hotel and it was THE BEST Italian food we had during our whole trip! Location: this restaurant wasn't on a busy or bustling street. It was maybe 1-2 blocks away from the main road and tucked away. Seating: they had outdoor and indoor options. We were surprised with how much space was inside - they had about 2 floors to accommodate guests in addition to their outdoor seating. We sat inside where we noticed there were a number of local patrons enjoying their meal and speaking with the owners. As soon as we noticed the locals here, we thought we finally found a gem. Food: - the bruschetta was the best of our various finds on our trip. It was the only one that had greens on it which we were thrilled to see (there was a restaurant we visited that only had tomatoes and no basil or arugula). - the carbonara was great too. The sauce really had the flavor of the guanciale. The waiter was kind enough to offer Parmesan on the side to add in addition to the meal (we didn't ask for it!). Based on the menu, the pasta was homemade. - the spaghetti with clams was amazing as well. The sauce was light and flavorful and tasted like the sea. Similar to the carbonara, the waiter offered fresh ground pepper without us asking. It's a nice gesture knowing that most Italian places will frown at you for wanting to alter the chef's creation (sometimes you just need a little extra kick!!). - the tirimisu was very light. It came in a single serve glass jar. Though, we did notice there wasn't a whole lot of lady fingers compared to the mascarpone cheese. Also, there was a lot of chocolate powder. Nonetheless, still tasty and the perfect amount for 1 person. Wait staff: we appreciated our waiter and the overall waitstaff. Most tourist traps have waiters waiting for you outside as you walk by already offering you a table before you even know if you want to eat there. These waiters did not offer us a table upon seeing us. It was only until we approached with intent to eat here that they gave us the time of day. Also, we did notice that all of the wait staff appeared to be of Italian descent. We went to a few other places with folks that didn't seem to be Italian which had us questioning the authenticity. Overall: it was a great experience and we were thrilled to have found this place given our bad luck with Roman tourist traps. We can say we had a good authentic meal before ending our trip!!

Best bruschetta ever on warm fresh bread

Anitca Boheme is a great restaurant. The food was tasty and they catered to both tourists and locals. The menu was somewhat limited, but they did serve many of the local classics and there was enough to make anyone happy. The bruschetta was sooo good. It was fresh and flavorful. The bread was very tasty as well. The ravioli we had was somewhat lackluster, but I think that was on us for ordering a more boring/safe dish. The servers were friendly, spoke English, and quick. We stopped by right as they opened and had no issues getting a seat. The price was very reasonable and food was solid. The atmosphere is really romantic and there was a street performer playing music as we ate dinner outside under the lights. Definitely would recommend if you are staying near Termini station when visiting Rome!

My wife and I went here tonight which is our first day in Rome. The staff is awesome even taking time for a selfie with us, and of course paying attention when it was needed. For dinner, it is on a nice quiet street, and we had at least three wandering musicians playing for us. I suspect it is similar elsewhere, but it was since still. The food was very good, and much different than the American-Italian we are used to eating. I had spaghetti with clam sauce and my wife had something off menu that we cannot recall. Overall a great spot if you are in the area!

Got there a few minutes before 6:30 and we were seated immediately. The ambiance was quite nice and cozy and our server spoke enough English to help with some needed explanation. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We each had an appetizer and either a pasta dish or meat dish, as well as a bottle of wine and a bottle of still water and bread for 109 euros. Food was quick to arrive, and the service good.

    great salami and prosciutto starter

Viva Italia! First dinner in Rome, and we were not disappointed. Really great charcuterie starter plate. Those different salamis were super good. We also had the pasta with prawns. The sauce was great, but funny thing to know about pasta in Italy. They like the pasta really al dente. To the point of pretty hard, almost uncooked. But given that all the pasta we had in Italy was the same texturally, I realized that it must just be the way that Italians eat it. Don't get me wrong, it was good, just different. We also had the osso bucco. That was rediculously good. Great mushroom sauce on top that you just wanted to keep eating with the bread. Also, best wine that we had our whole trip. They had a nice clean white wine that I wouldn't know the name of for the life of me, but it was good. Get there if you can and eat a lot.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and if you're sitting outside on a sunny day, the staff is very attentive about adjusting the shades so you're comfortable. They will adjust even without you having to ask. I ordered the artichoke as an appetizer which was very good, I recommend getting this if they are in season. I also ordered the carbonara, and it was by far the best I had while in Rome perfectly creamy, rich, and full of flavor without being too heavy. You can really tell they focus on doing the classics right. What stood out beyond the food was how efficiently the staff operated. Despite how busy the restaurant gets, they move quickly and keep everything running smoothly, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, this is a must-visit spot if you're in Rome. By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
