Chicken Fried Rice
Jocelyn E.

Highly recommend stopping in if you have a chance! The food is cooked with so much love. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. Amei's does have a grab and go selection, as well as meals that are made to order. There is indoor seating, the staff is very pleasant, and the service was super quick. This is a family owned business that deserves a lot of love. We paid $18 for our two very large dishes, and a soda. It is worth the price, we had plenty of leftovers for another meal which is always awesome. My husband raved about the fried rice! It was so flavorful, full of fresh veggies, and all the green onion was a huge bonus. My Pad Thai was the best I've ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection. As far as ambiance goes, it makes you feel like you're at your grandmas house getting a big, fresh cooked meal. Overall, amazing.

Food, service and ambiance, all excellent! Modern decor and full bar. Friendly young server team…read more We were on a one night stopover on what happened to be my birthday. Eating out is pricy these days but decided to splurge and soooo happy we did. The restaurant is in an area with lots of one way streets but worth the challenge of getting there. They were out of the curry so I settled on the miso ramen, complete with egg. Did not disappoint. Husband had beef pho and he also was happy. We shared garlic edamame, excellent! And a Caesar salad, (Slightly disappointing except croutons were house made and still warm, great texture!) We topped the meal with the best tiramisu I've ever eaten. Can't wait to come back on our next trip through Redding, CA.

Our server Chris was great, super friendly and attentive. So what went wrong. The greeter was absolutely rude and unprofessional. I was about to walk away but we were tired from hiking that day so my family wanted to stay. The greeter refused our request twice to sit at a corner table for a party of six. We opted not to sit on high chair as none of us liked it. She basically rolled her eyes and questioned us twice of why and refused our request. The food is absolutely beyond typical. We are from Hong Kong and we expect nothing authentic at the place, as long as it tastes descent. For the atmosphere, it may score a point or two. But for the food flavor, save your money, go to any chinese fast food place, you will enjoy it as much and opposed to dining here.

The hosts were congenial and friendly and took our orders confidently and quickly. My wife and daughters ordered poke bowls and I ordered their Ramen. The Poke bowls were pretty good (in comparison with the Poke spots we have in Sac), and the ladies cleaned their bowls completely. There are three types of Ramen bowls available (Spam, Miso and Seafood), and I selected the Seafood option. It was a standard mix of shrimp, imitation crab, and scallops with fish cake, green onions and seaweed with a miso-like broth. The bowl was pretty solid, the broth could use a bit more flavor. So all in all, it was a solid meal for us. I would give the poke bowls a solid B, and the Ramen bowl a B-. Poke Land is a good place to have Poke or Ramen if you're in Redding. I surmise that there are better Ramen options within the Japanese restaurants around town, maybe better Poke options too. However, this is a good place that does both.

Hard to find the front door but once we did we were very pleased with the ambiance. Raw is a lovely space and the bar is large and looks very inviting and like a place tou could feel very comfortable having a cocktail or two. The seating is comfortable and has a relaxed vibe. The sushi was just not great. We ordered several of the special rolls that ranged in price from $22 to $29. They all tasted pretty much the same and every one of them had the same sauce. But the safest part is the tempura shrimp in the rolls tasted like it had been sitting for awhile. And instead of getting that crispy light tempura crust, it was gummy and heavy. The rice was gummy and I am not sure if it was overcooked or perhaps had too much sugar added which madeit overly sweet and congealed. We also ordered a dou le.order of the Hamachi sashimi which was fair but lacked that super rich butter flavor I crave. We were so hoping to find our go to sushi spot while visiting Raw. And I do think they have a place in the restaurant bar world. But their "place" is not for as a high end sushi restaurant. The quality is just not there. And I so wanted it to be. ‍
