I was here the other day having lunch. I'd never been here before, as this place is located in sort of south Redding. I'm usually on the other side of the river and freeway. I kept the order simple and just had the coconut soup that I like and a standard chicken pad Thai. Prices seemed reasonable a little cheaper than other Thai place if anything. The soup was very tasty and had a good intensity to the flavor and the right sourness, not too spicy either. The Pad Thai was pretty standard, a decent rendition with the tamarind flavor coming through fine. All the food was served real hot so I know it was fresh cooked. Very bland food. Got the pad kee mao with medium spicy. Didn't feel med spice. Barely any color on the noodles. Also got the boat noodles. The beef was a weird texture that didn't feel fresh. You gotta support this small business. It was a lovely dinner. Places like this are not easy to find. I'm guessing the staff are family. It felt like being at your aunties house and they've been doing this so long and are so good at it they don't have to hurry. Even though it was Friday night dinner hour, it wasn't loud and the food came out in great time. The spring rolls with mango were excellent. The chicken satay was good. Listening to old ass reviews got me chasing after a 5 star meal... Went here for the first time and thought the decor was pretty dated, along with the menus. Ordered the spicy chicken wings for starters and the lady asked if I wanted the items that came with it..I was like, well do you just want a portion of the listed price - all of a sudden she didn't speak English.. LoL! Ordered the chicken curry which was barely warm and the broccoli beef with rice which was so bland. After doctoring up the meal by adding some spicy heat to it all, that raised my taste and overall review to the 3 stars I'm giving. a really homely little restaurant where we were served by the nicest ladies! every dish we tried tasted homemade and authentic, the sampler plate with the curry puff was super yummy. Pad Thai and Pad See Ew were simple yet flavourful, I would order them again! The place was not busy. My dear husband went to get food to go. He ordered veggie pho and a chicken dish. The pho did not have noodles, and the veg were large hard uncooked chunks. Chicken? I have to give this one two stars but to be honest, I would've given one. I just don't like to give bad ratings to small family-owned businesses. Went in for Pad Thai and Pho. We are new to Redding, Ca and so we are having fun trying out new restaurants. Now, I get that everyone has different tastes, so this review is not necessarily for that, even though we didn't quite enjoy the food because it lacked flavor, it was mainly because my soup and wife's Pad Thai was barely warm. I wouldn't even say it was lukewarm. Pretty strange for a restaurant that wasn't that busy at the time. This is the first time that's ever happened to me actually. It tasted like it was sitting in the back all day and they didn't bother even reheating it. I didn't take a picture because that wouldn't really help because it looked fine. This is a hidden gem! I'm from the Bay Area and the food here is authentic and tops many Thai restaurants in my area. The ladies here are so nice. One of mine and my husbands favorite places. Small family owned and very friendly people. This family also used to own 5 Thais that was across the street from the Mt Shasta Mall. We were sad when we saw that 5 Thais had closed its doors, but when we came here we immediately saw that the menu was the same as the 5 Thais and we were so excited and then one is the lady's that used to work there came from the back, so we asked her what happened to the restaurant and she told me that the lady that owned it retired. Pho noodle broth just tastes like I added water to the noodles and then the seasoning. Super plain base broth. Pad Thai had no flavor. Chicken on the sticks were SUPER oily. Had I not left my camera in the hotel room, I would have included a photo with this review of the menu book of which the first two pages are Yelp reviews. No kidding. Albeit Yelp reviews from all the way back in 2008, it made me smile to see them there. There was a lot to smile about based on our dinner at Racha Noodle. The bottom line is that with so many restaurants and so little time, we seldom go to the same restaurant twice when we're traveling. But next time we pass through Redding, this place will be on our "go to" list again and we'll also seek out their sister restaurant, 5 Thai. VALUE: A true Thai family run restaurant with very good renditions of Thai classic dishes at inexpensive prices. Dinner for two of us with tea and after tax clocked in at only about $24.00. SERVICE & AMBIANCE: Friendly service even if a little slow at times given the folks waiting on the tables also seemed to be helping in the kitchen. There are significant language barriers for some members of the wait staff, but they understand English a lot better than I do their native language - which is not at all. My husband and I felt as if we were guests in their home. Grateful guests to have such good food and warm welcome extended through the sparkling clean interior complete with travel posters of Thailand on the wall and lace looking oilcloth on the tables covered by plastic tablecloths with soothing music on the sound system. FOOD: Our choices for dinner were "leap of faith" items for us at a Thai restaurant. That is dishes that we imply a good deal of trust in the kitchen by ordering because when they are made well they are wonderful and when not made well they are really awful. We started with fresh spring (salad) rolls ($5) that included prawns along with romaine lettuce, Thai herbs, cucumber, red bell pepper and green papaya all expertly cut and rolled in rice paper at just the right texture. That was followed by Red Curry Duck with steamed rice ($8.50) and Pad Thai ($6.50) that included both prawns and tofu. The hot dishes were served piping hot and the servings were generous but not overwhelming in size. We'd order them all again. Good enough green tea was only $1 each. We are almost embarrassed to order Pad Thai at a Thai restaurant, given it suggests "newbie" about Thai food and we often find it can be a gummy oversweet mess of a dish. But I had a hankering for noodles and this was really good Pad Thai. The Red Duck Curry was some of the best we've had with a just right level of spice and coconut milk, and with pineapple, onion and a generous amount of red and green bell peppers. In fact, when I saw the menu note that all of the dishes made from animal proteins could be made with tofu instead, I thought of my friend Lydia L and that she might like the Red Curry made with tofu enough to change her mind about green peppers as abomination! EQUAL ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: Disabled accessible parking in the small lot, level in access at the door, clear path of travel access to tables. DRAWBACK: The restaurant is adjacent to a Laotian grocery as the only two businesses in a decrepit building off of a four lane road. The building has a very small parking lot and given the restaurant's popularity, the lot fills up quickly. Looks like one would have to park quite a distance away and cross the four lane road to get to the restaurant if the lot is full. For that reason, we'd recommend going early. TIP: Cash only business. read more

We were on our way to Seattle and we had to stop by Redding for a night. We accidentally discovered this place but oh boy.. we were surprised how good the food was! The salad came first. The honey mustard dressing was sooo good. I don't know what they put on the dressing but it was excellent. The duck curry was delicious but then came the shrimp with eggplant.. It was the best eggplant dish I have ever had. The eggplant just melts in your mouth! It was perfect. Driving back to LA from Seattle, we couldn't pass up on the opportunity to have some of the eggplant dish again. We stopped by Racha for lunch and it was the same perfect dish we had a few days ago. I will stop by again sometime soon when we head up to SF. It's just simply irresistable. read more
