But given the pricing and the location (especially if you're in/close to Pflugerville), it's a nice place to visit. I do want to point out that the building with restrooms/changing room/showers is no longer in use, so you'll have to use the bathrooms "in front" (never used them, so don't know if they're referring to the ones in the park or not). In any case, the bathroom situation probably isn't the greatest, so if you're in a situation where you need nicer facilities, you might want to think twice before coming. That being said, if you're looking for a solid place to swim for a few hours (even 1 or 2), I think this place beats out the other pools around town.

There's also a pretty cool slide and one of those "walk on floats across the water" things. My kids stayed for almost 2 hours and the only reason we left then is because they were starting to turn red from their sunscreen wearing off. The lifeguards were also great. We have gotten so used to overbearing lifeguards this summer who blow their whistles and yell nonstop and this was a nice change of pace. They were very patient with everyone, using normal speaking voices and only using whistles if someone was doing something dangerous. It made for a very relaxing and fun experience. The entry for kids is about standard ($3 each) and a bit higher than usual for adults ($6 each) but one of the benefits of this is that the place wasn't very crowded so we were able to have a good time without feeling cramped. We'll definitely be coming back again, kids and adults had a great time.

Both parks act as traffic roundabouts in their respective neighborhoods and are separated by Weiland elementary school. The reason this park is nicer than its nearby neighbor is because it features a swimming pool. There is a larger playscape located here as opposed to the other park. This is roughly a 1 acre patch of land that is well utilized with paved walkways, benches, pool, and covered play scape with swings. There is also a nice short gravel pathway with benches and the entire property is ringed with a 4 foot perimeter fence. There are bathrooms located within the pool area along with plenty of seating and there's even a book depository box next to the playscape, but no grills. Just one block south of this park you'll run into Stoney Creek park and it's paved trails (Battenburg Trail) that run along a creek. This is definitely a very nice HOA park for the local residents, not the general public.

Disappointed by Pool Deck Conditions and Lack of Response…read more I am a regular swimmer at the CHASCO Family YMCA and frequently use the pool. Unfortunately, the condition of the pool deck has become increasingly concerning, and my previous email regarding this issue received no response or acknowledgment. As the photos show, there is extensive dark buildup and discoloration throughout the deck, including areas immediately surrounding the pool. There is also a strong, unpleasant odor in the pool deck area that smells like sewage/sewer, particularly around the drainage/channel area. Several members were commenting on the smell again this morning, so this is not something only I have noticed. The lifeguards appear to do what they can with routine sweeping and general upkeep, but this has clearly gone beyond what routine cleaning can address. The deck needs a thorough deep cleaning or power washing, and the source of the odor needs to be investigated. This morning, another regular swimmer was actually speaking with the front desk about purchasing a pressure washer himself for the lifeguards to use. That is an incredibly generous gesture, but members should not have to purchase cleaning equipment simply to have a clean and properly maintained swimming environment. I understand that the YMCA is a nonprofit organization and relies heavily on community support. I appreciate its mission and what this facility provides to our community. But paying members should still be able to expect reasonable cleanliness, facility maintenance, and--at the very least--a response when legitimate concerns are brought to management's attention. At this point, I am hoping management will address both the condition of the deck and the persistent odor, rather than allowing members and lifeguards to try to solve a facility-maintenance issue themselves.

Its a bit hidden right by a playground and dog park. This summer we had her taking lessons for the Preschool class early on in the summer and a couple of weeks ago completed the Advanced Preschool. Swimming lessons were through the Rec Center schedule. If you or any family members are thinking of doing swimming lessons, I highly recommend taking the courses as they take place here. The instructors were friendly with all ages and took such great time and patience especially with the preschoolers. There are two pools at the Lake Creek Pool. One large one...I'm not quite sure the depth but there is also a kiddie pool off to the side which has a cover over it from the sun..which was maybe a little over a foot in depth. Off to the side there are a handful of picnic type tables and several lounge chairs off to the side. There is a huge tent over the picnic tables but other than that, there is no shade. For just playing in the water and to swim, this place isn't too bad if you aren't looking for water slides or anything. Just a place to swim, hang out and cool off.

I also learned that a very similar situation occurred during another classes. My eight-year-old daughter became upset and was sent off the court after being publicly yelled at for an unknown reason. I calmed her down and sent her back, then coach immediately raised his voice at her and sent her off the court again. Unprovoked. I calmed her a second time and let her sit out for five minutes. She quietly rejoined her group, waited patiently in line for her turn, and when it was finally her turn, the coach screamed at her in front of every child and parent that he was "done with her" and that she needed to leave the "His court." This was the third time she had been publicly removed from class that day. At this point I was extremely confused. I had witnessed nothing that justified this level of hostility toward an eight-year-old child. Assuming I had missed something, I walked to the side of the court and waited respectfully for an opportunity to speak with the coach. I did not interrupt the class or demand his attention. I simply wanted to understand what had happened so I could address the issue appropriately with my daughter. Instead of speaking to me professionally, the coach yelled at me to get off "his court." I was standing along the same perimeter where other parents and people walking laps were located. He then stated that he was "done" with my daughter and that we needed to leave. My daughter had spent most of the session crying on the sidelines confused over the situation, and it was obvious this coach had no intention of handling the situation professionally. Rather than force my daughter to remain there in tears, I quietly collected my son and began leaving with both of my children. As I walked away, without saying a single word to him, the coach repeatedly and aggressively yelled across the gym at my back: "Let them go! Let them go! I don't care! Get off my court! Let them go!" I want to be absolutely clear: This entire confrontation was completely one-sided. As a parent, I trusted your organization with the care of my children. That responsibility includes their emotional well-being as much as their physical safety. These classes are designed for children between the ages of six and twelve. Young children become frustrated, cry, make mistakes, and need guidance. It is the responsibility of a coach to teach, encourage, and redirect them--not scream at them, publicly humiliate them, or repeatedly remove them from participation without explanation. Most heartbreaking of all is lasting impact this coach has had on an eight-year-old child. This is not coaching. This is not discipline. This is intimidation. We were the target of his aggression multiple times without explanation.

Showers: nice hot and somewhat discrete Eye Candy: Some hot housewives, but not much. Grassy area: This is the biggest drawback to this pool. The Grass is filled with biting ants. The men's bathroom/changing room is attached to the lifeguard office area. The guards have nowhere to sit out of the sun when they aren't watching swimmers so they sit in the entrance to the men's room. They have to move their legs out of the way so you can go into the bathroom, and they are just inches from being in the changing room area. So you walk past a female guard, take a left a foot later and there is your bench to change clothes. The faucet they use to hose off the pool area is located inside the men's room so the female guards walk into the men's room to turn it off and on. They also store garbage bins, swimming noodles, and the emergency board in the men's room which the females must get it they need them. The urinals are right there as well. Last year as I was changing, I was walked in on 3 times by female guards. I know it's not the guards fault, they certainly don't want to walk in on old people like me, it's the extremely poor design of the place. Who thought this was a good idea? Perhaps they could install an inexpensive visual barrier you would have to walk through to see into the changing area and urinal location? Until then I say they switch the men's and ladies' rooms for a year - what's good for the gander is good for the goose! Let's see how long this problem persist if the mothers keep getting walked in on. : )
