I was catching the second leg of my trip to Albany, NY. I had a 3 hour layover in O'Hare. I asked for my gate information at the AA desk. I was told gate L25, which is at the one end of the terminal. I went to L25, and waited, listening to the announcements. (I remember there were a LOT of announcements for the flight to Syracuse) No announcements for the Albany flight. Thinking my flight should be boarding, I looked at the board, at the gate and it said a different destination. So I asked the agent which gate my flight was at. She said L8, and I had time to get there. I hurried to the gate and they had just closed the door. No agent at the desk. When the person came back, I asked if they had announced the gate change, or if they (as they do) called my name for final boarding??? Because I was definitely listening. She laughed and said "oh yes, I called your name" I had to wait over 5 hours for the next flight. read more

I'm Totally Disgusted with this Airlines. My first time flying American as an adult. As a child a flown a lot due to be an Army child visiting my Dad. First and foremost it sucks paying so much money for a flight yet there is no tv on the plane. They provide free wifi but only to watch their movies not to use for any other application on your phone. My flight was leaving from Chicago O'Hare Airport to LaGuardia and everything was going smooth in until we were on the plane and were directed to get off. They found an issue with the tire and it needed to be replaced. Our flight was suppose to leave at 6:40pm it was delayed 12 times through out the evening with minimal communications regarding the delay. The flight crew was replaced with another because they were timed out. The agents at the get were changed multiple times some refusing to answer questions and give more information regarding the flight. The customer service kicked us out refusing to change flights and yet our agents at gate couldn't change them either. Food vouchers were provided once the airport closed so they could not be used. Flight left at 11:40pm now rerouted to JFK not LaGuardia due to the fact the airport was now closed. We were advised we were to be given taxi vouchers which took over two hours to get with only two agents giving vouchers out. Once we received our voucher and obtained our checked bags we were greeted with all the passengers that were on the plane now trying to get their cabs with their vouchers but unfortunately there was only 3 cabs for a full flight. Taxis only wanted to take the farther routes and 3-5 in a cab. I felt so unsafe I was taken away from my original destination left stranded and had to take a cab with 2 men just to make it home. read more

I explained that was insulting & she said she will have to ask somebody else & get back to me. 10 minutes later I received an email that said I get a $75 credit that was attached to my 12 year old's ticket number. How is that helpful? I attempted to respond, but received a message that it was an email address that is not monitored by American Airlines. I booked my flights months ago going to MJB (Jamaica). I chose the earlier flight to arrive 11:10am. My flight is in 7 days. I got a email that my flight has been changed to arriving at 1:30pm. I chose the earlier flight due to a wedding on 10/08/2025 at 1PM. So now we will miss the wedding my husband is the BEST MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I booked a trip for my wife and I, but canceled 15 minutes later. That's well within their cancelation period. I had to call multiple times to follow up. A glitch on their side failed to refund me, then only one ticket was refunded. Why am I responsible to follow with american airlines when it was their outdated system? Bad customer service. The Manager said to fight it out with my credit card company. I did everything correctly and timely. I had spoken to someone and they assured me I would get a full refund. I flew round trip on American with my daughter from PBI-O'Hare. The ride to O'Hare was not bad except that the plane was packed. Then they tell us we have wi fi and then they tell us - oh sorry. No you don't. Well, that's awful. The way back, the lavatory in the rear was absolutely disgusting with paper on the floor; soap dispenser broken and I had to use little wipes. Are you kidding me? We had a UA code share with Air Canada that was canceled and AC rebooked us on an AA flight... the day after Christmas... it was mayhem at ORD. we didn't even have a record locator (or seats assigned) for our new flight so we couldn't check in online. So we got in a long line... to nowhere... but Michael was amazing! He solved all our issues. Literally, ALL. Thank you for being so awesome on one of the worst days of the year for travel. I just spoke to American Airlines supervisor re My AAAdvantage plan to request miles be applied to my account for flight that I paid for home from Costs Rica. I was unable to be on that flight and unable to rebook because my Basic Economy ticket did not allow changes. I was told when I called to cancel that I should not cancel but wait til after the flight and then I would be awarded the Advantage miles on my account. Just called and spoke with supervisor Arturo, who said I could only get the miles on my account if I was on the flight. EVEN THOUGH I PAID FOR THE FLIGHT!!!! Unfortunately, driving from Chicago to the West coast is prohibitively time-consuming, but after this flight experience, I am considering that option moving forward. I am a frequent traveler, and I have experienced many flight delays and long travel days, however, I have rarely been treated with such insufferable indifference by any airline. Our flight was delayed at the gate in San Diego for roughly an hour. While an hour was not hugely consequential for my party, there were people taking connecting flights, and there seemed to be no urgency to get the flight underway. What we did get were excuses from "not enough runways" to "waiting for the tower to clear us" after we sat at the gate, without explanation, for an hour. While delays are sometimes inevitable, the fact that the plane became unbearably hot, and we were given no water, no explanation and no relief from the heat, was wholly unacceptable. We should have either been let off the plane or given some other respite from the sweltering conditions. I was pouring sweat, children were screaming, most people on the plane were fanning themselves with pamphlets or magazines, and most of us were fiddling with the feeble little air vents, trying to get any relief we could. Everyone on that plane paid for a ticket to sit in sweltering hot misery, only to arrive in Chicago late and hope they could catch their connecting flight. There was no acknowledgement of the hot conditions or the delay for over 45 minutes, and when the staff did acknowledge the situation, it was only after many of us became very vocal. American's answer to those who were late for connecting flights was to repeatedly scold people who stood in the aisle upon landing and were blocking those who needed to rush off to catch a connector. While I agree, we should let those people off first, it was American, not the 200+ passengers on their plane, who made these poor people late to begin with. Our outbound flight (ORD to LA) had a similarly long delay at the gate --allegedly to repair a "valve"-- which caused us to delay, and even miss activities the day of our arrival. While we didn't cook in the fuselage of the plane on the runway in Chicago, we were late on both our outbound and inbound trips, leading to miserably long travel days on either end of our trip. American displayed a complete indifference to the passenger experience, and even to passenger suffering during this trip. We will consider AA our "least preferred" carrier moving forward. read more

One and a half stars! Au contraire! They were wonderful On my way to Daytona Beach. The flight home was a little Hinky as they were running almost an hour late. That is not the fault of American Airlines. And they have to fly in some funky climates. If it is pouring torrential rain, I'm pretty sure they don't want to crash so they will wait a bit to see if this torrential rain eases up. I am not a good flyer. I always have been a nervous Nellie when it comes to flying. The only one fault that I found with American Airlines and in fact, every airline that I've flown with lately there is no mask mandate. I wear my mask. Despite wearing my mask, I came home on August 22 and I had omicron about three days later. That was fun ((sarcasm implied)). Either get vaccinated or wearing a mask because I was very lucky. My two initial doses, and my booster kept me out of the hospital. This was not American Airlines fault at all. Canceled flight, mechanical issues with the next, rerouted to an airport with the promise of food, transportation and lodging was a lie. Team slept in the ground at a high traffic airport. I had a Trip booked to Reagan/DCA and Back leaving on 1/5/and Returning on 1/8 2025. Being most of my points are booked with AA - I fly them if for no other reason. And I treat them like any other review I write. The outbound flight was on a 737-800. The flight left on schedule. I was thinking of bumping up from steerage to super-steerage or business class - however for a 1 hour flight i decided to bear it. And I was pleasantly surprised. Seat 26A was not that bad. The aircraft was exceptionally clean and even the wings were clean - which I had a huge compaint about one time. As it reflects poorly on an airlines image. On the return flight It was on an Airbus A=319 and seated on 20A. Again since I did not have a bad time on my previous flight I sat on super steerage as I managed on a 1 hour flight. The airplane was clean, including the outside. And I was pleasantly surprised that everything went well. The only complaint is that the Inflight Entertainment marked as Free only lasts for 20 minutes and you have to watch an informercial in order to qualify for that and then you are cut off. And your luggage policy pretty much Sucks! But this flight pretty much exceed my expectations from my past flights with you so I gave you good remarks this time. WP read more

American airlines is one of the worse airlines in term of their customer services and damage claim. I travel in June 6th and returned June 10th. My luggage was damage when I arrived at my destination and I was shocked that the damage claim department told me that I will have to deal with the O'Hare airport when I return back from Minneapolis. Since I returned from Minneapolis on June 10, I have been giving run around back and forth for them to resolve the issues. I am losing sleep, having severe anxiety on this matters, still nothing has been resolve. Nothing has changed. 2.They never have vegan options, only vegetarian. Most reps seem to not know the difference between the two. When I have had to speak with one over the phone, many times, Im given attitude, as if Im simply being picky and a nuisance. Veganism is more than just a diet - it's an entire lifestyle, much like religious restrictions, such as kosher. I wonder if religious restrictions are given the same impatient attitude. I doubt it. Whats the problem with people who arent vegan getting so threatened with veganism? Im not preaching to them or trying to convert! Live and let live with respect. Solution: provide vegan options. This person was soooo rude and refused to attempt to look up the flight using the flight number and date/time...straight up lied to me and told me that there was not other way to look it up...I asked for a supervisor and he refused to transfer me. One of the more impressive flagship lounges I've ever seen. Beverages: The fully stocked wine, beer and liquor is out of this world. If you can't find a drink you like then you are too picky! There is a huge cooler full of different bottled beers. Huge counter full of top shelf liquor. Self-serve! I had a hankering for a crisp rose wine and I found one. They also had champagne/sparkling wines. Fancy marbled counters. Servers everywhere cleaning up dishes. Food: amazing selection of food. I was not super hungry but I grabbed a few pieces of sushi, cheese cubes, and those amazing home cooked cheddar potato chips. My husband even got a piece of quail which he said was amazing. Lounge: modern, well-lit, fancy, and super quiet. Comfortable seating everywhere. Plenty of outlets for charging your devices. Beautiful and clean bathrooms with nice organic hand soap and lotion. I didn't see a shower but found out later you had to ask for a key. Probably my favorite part of traveling and I look forward to O'Hare now! read more

They seem to be one of our biggest airlines out of Chicago though so I find myself flying AA more often than not. They are always better than Frontier or Spirit so...there's that. Now I recently flew first class on a flight from Chicago to LA and must say, it was amazing. If I could always fly American first class, life would be a dream and this review would be a perfect 5 stars. Flight attendants were beyond fantastic - friendly and on top of everything! Drinks included. More space for my flight. A meal included that was actually delicious - breakfast was a yogurt, biscuit, bowl of fruit, omelette, potatoes and coffee! Hot hand towels, pillows, blankets. I was living the life up in first class! My first and only time feeling special, but American sure did make me feel that way! You know, I can be tough when rating airline lounges, but I must say this Flagship Lounge was redeeming. Highlights: -Food: This Lounge has the best food selection of any Flagship Lounge I've seen. It's not the Air Canada Signature Suite in Toronto Pearson, but it is much better than most lounges. I was here for both breakfast and lunch service. For breakfast, the pancakes, scrambled eggs, and chilaquiles were all pretty good. For lunch, I stopped when I saw the racks of lamb. AA never offers lamb in their lounges! It was accompanied by a nice chimmichurri that was not overpowering. There is also a sushi bar, dessert bar, and proper bar. -Space: The lounge is decently large and has two sides that are more or less the same, although if you walk in and go to the right and straight down, there is a little relaxing room where you can try to grab some shut-eye. The showers aren't obvious, but they do have showers and you can ask the agent for a key. It's also very well lit here, which is nice, and the windows give you a wide airside view. There are ample power outlets--and they work and aren't falling out of the wall like some AA lounges *cough Miami D15 cough*. -Noise: The Lounge started to fill up around 11 AM but it was not crowded, and it always had a relaxing, quiet environment. Nothing like the Flagship at LAX, which is like a club in Atlanta with how many people are in there sometimes. -Staff: Loads of people are always coming around to clear plates, etc. Friendly folks. This is perhaps the best Flagship I've been to in North America. There are a few little touches--like the mojito bar they have sometimes at LAX, or fresh omelettes, but this was definitely a comfortable place to spend four hours and get some work done! 4.5 read more

On our trip from Los Angeles to Chicago, American Airlines was one of the airline companies that had a direct flight to Chicago. We came here during April and the tickets for the round trip were about $550.00 for two people. It seems like the stewardess was tired or not very happy but I'm sure it's because they still had to work during the pandemic while people are just going off for vacations. I can't say I had an amazing experience with them but it was still alright. I got called out for having a third bag which was a clutch size bag that carried my identification and also my ticket. She spoke on the loudspeaker telling people that people need to have only two bags. I put it into my backpack and of course, it fitted. But yes she is doing her job and I get it but really when it's a clutch bag that is micro size. Just put your clutch in your backpack before you get to the counter. I completely forgot since this was my first trip this year and going on an airplane. I usually only travel with this clutch so it's easy to get my identification out. I have no idea why I continue to use the Shitcago ORD airport. Every time I fly into this airport my flight is either cancelled or delayed. I show up at my gate and they have no captain to fly the plane because the first one called off about 30 minutes before boarding. They have to call a new captain and I was told that person has two hours to show up. I have been waiting 3 hours for this connection and the plane has been sitting here since around 4pm. If I would have known about this delay I would have rented a car and drove home. Why is this airport so awful. lol read more

American is one of my favorite airlines, I travel with them pretty often, and it's usually good service. Not the case today my flight was delayed twice from 6:55 to 7:10 to 7:27 and finally we left around 8:00 pm. Please upgrade your menu selection. The people on this flight smelled like they hadn't washed in weeks there should be rules because that is unsanitary. read more
