In between meetings, I had asked for a quote which was never sent to me. I contacted Deion a 2nd time and he said he would send one my way momentarily...and I was never contacted again. I read someone else's bad review and I now believe I have suffered the same fate as I was interested in purchasing my system rather than financing. Sometimes you just get lucky - I had been looking at Solar systems and had received 5 quotes from various Companies via Energysage.com, one of them being American Array Solar, but had not moved forward with any of them. My neighbor is a Sunrun sales person and I had talked with them, but they only wanted to sell me a leased system, I wasn't interested in a lease. While out in my garage one day, in walks a sales guy who was selling solar. I saw the Company name on his shirt and decided it might be fate, asked him in and we got the deal done on the spot. They were not the cheapest nor the most expensive. They offered 29 Panasonic EV380 panels and 29 Enphase IQ8+ inverters with Production and Consumption monitoring, a tidy install and painting of any conduit. It took about a month for the design to be completed, and only 1 day for the system to be installed and turned on. It took another week for PG&E to provide the Permit to Operate. System has been online and operating since early Sept and has been flawless. The installers were quick, left no mess and answered any questions I had. Compared to other installs around the neighborhood which have unsightly conduit running down the middle of house walls, American Array Solar went above and beyond to hide their conduit runs and then paint to make it very hard to even notice. I have Family who have Solar systems and they had told me the issues and timeframes they experienced with their installs, they were amazed, as was I, with how fast the install went and with how fast I was issues the Permit to Operate. I had solar installation done by American Array Solar. I am extremely satisfied and happy with the outcome. Adam at American Solar is extremely professional. I had a personal emergency and Adam worked around the schedule to put in all the plans together. Before that Saeed from the company came over and did a detailed study and explained everything to me. They were very mindful of the timeline, since I wanted to avail of NEM2.0. On the day of installation I had to cancel and reschedule. Sam worked around and immediately rescheduled to the day I wanted. After the installation, they came and again explained everything and were present for city inspection. During the entire process, Adam and his team kept me informed and completed all the work without me having to keep pushing them. After several back and forths asking for specific information about the proposal she just kept redirecting and reflecting my questions and not answering them directly. How do i know? It has been about 2 years since Solar Array installed my solar panel system and I am well pleased. We have had $0 PGE bill for all of this time and I love being able to monitor my system with the Enlighten app. We are able to see day by day, month by month and even year by year usage and control our power usage. When I first met Omar with Solar Array, I hit him with all kinds of solar questions and he answered them all. I was tired of those selling solar telling me about the gift cards and perks but knew nothing about solar and always tried to set up a sales appointment at my home. I am extremely satisfied and happy I choose American Solar Array. I was skeptical and worried about purchasing something as expensive as solar, but it turned out better than expected. I got 370 Panasonic panels with Enphase Micro-inverters for thousands less than other bids that used lesser quality equipment. Adam seemed to lead the whole project. He was helpful, responsive and effective. I asked to change the design of the panels after the design process, and he did it immediately without push back. American Array Solar was referred to us by a very trusted source who researched a number of solar installation companies. The installation is completed, and we are only awaiting final permission from PG&E. Other than a few hours delay in the scheduled installation time (workers based in the valley) everything so far has run smoothly even the timely visit this morning by another tech to get the system online for us to monitor through Enphase Energy. Omar did a great presentation initially, and Adam has followed up consistently to make sure we are satisfied with their work. Incidentally I have read some of the negative reviews, and though I can not speak to their experience ours has been very positive. I review everyone according to my own experience. I cannot believe going solar can be so easy. 8/6/2021 I started shopping for a solar system 8/9/2021 I summited RFQ via Energysage 8/18/2021 I received the initial quote from American Array Solar (AAS) 8/19/2021 AAS revised the quote upon my request 8/23/2021 I signed the contract with AAS 8/24/2021 AAS had an onsite measurement 8/30/2021 AAS completed and rooftop solar layout and submitted the PV permit application to the city after I approved the layout 9/12/2021 AAS installed the solar panels on the roof of my house 9/13/2021 AAS completed the electrical works of the solar system, and registered the solar panels and microinverters on my behalf. 9/22/2021 System passed city inspections except the torque test 9/28/2021 System passed city inspections fully. The system was turned on and started to produce electricity. Permission to operate (PTO) application was summited to PGE 10/15/2021 PGE approved PTO. This was the final day. My electricity was on PGE NEM agreement. AAS summitted all required materials to my solar panel manufacturer to apply a manufacturer rebate of $500 on my behalf! AAS makes the entire process less than 60 days. What is the best of it? They do everything so that I don't have to do anything. Everything keeps rolling automatically from my side of view (I am sure that there are quite some effects done at AAS side). Last but not least, AAS price was very competitive. They offered a 6.9 kW system at 2/3 of the cost of a 6.8 kW system of the PV Mercedes brand. Only Tesla's quote was similar to theirs, but I trusted Panasonic HIT panels and Enphase invertors more than Tesla SC panel and string invertors. read more

To be clear this is a reflection of the careless way their crews worked, not a reflection of the quality of the service the company provides. (Original review) I am the owner of property next to house that installed their solar system. The installation crew needed to work on my property because I have a zero lot line and the electrical panel is on the wall that is on my property. During the first incident the installation crew that day put all of their tools and parts all over my lawn (which was recently redone with brand new plants, mulch, irrigation) and trashed one of my brand new plants because they carelessly put their ladder on top of it and then moved it and broke off 3 big limbs on the plant - I literally just planted it one month before and it was starting to grow. When that person was done destroying my plant they left plastic wrapping all over the mulch and let all of their colored wire cuttings drop to the ground without picking it up. In addition the same day there were crew members that were working on the roof that threw their cut metal pieces into my plant beds below. On another day the crew threw their home depot receipt on the ground on the street in front of my house and left it without picking it up. On the final day, the crew member that worked around my lawn (because the electrical panel is located there) painted a metal conduit pole to match the wall color and just dropped the brush on the ground and didn't bother to pick it up and throw it away when he was done. read more

This company starts jobs without permits and does a whole lot of weird things they don't call homeowners in advance they just jump on your roof and start working to lock the deal in. The owner of this company is very rude and told me I had to pay $6k out of my pocket if I backed out of the deal there customer service could use some work. I highly recommend American Array Solar for solar generation installation. They recently installed 16 solar panels on our residence and obtained approval from the utility company in time to qualify our 5.76 kW system for Net Energy Metering 2.0 despite the fact that I had waited until almost the last moment to apply. They were able to install all the panels on the roof in one day and worked with me regarding placement of the conduit, circuit breaker box, and A/C disconnect box. All workers were very courteous and respectful of our property. As further evidence of their expertise, American Array Solar ensured that the project passed inspection by the city and obtained approval from our utility company to turn on our system all within two weeks from the day they started work on the physical installation. The entire process was amazingly efficient and hassle-free. The process of installing solar panels is more complicated than it sounds. You have to deal with the installer, city permits and PG&E. One can easily get bogged down in the bureaucratic maze that prolongs the completion. The biggest hurdle was PG&E. After numerous phone calls I finally realized there was nothing I could do in regards to their approval. On other hand American Array did a good job of keeping me informed regarding the process and seeing that things came to fruition on their part. After some confusion and talking to at least seven different people I was finally able to have Gina take charge. Her positive can do attitude and her willingness to listen to my frustration made the process easier. I also want to mention Jose for his professional and prompt response as head of the installation crew. In conclusion American Array had everything completed within a reasonable time line. read more

Before I review this company in particular, let me just say that going solar is great and can save you money, especially if you have a pool and hot tub. We have looked into solar before only to find out that not only would we not save money, but would end up on the hook for significantly more than we currently pay because we don't use much electricity right now. My first impression of American Array Solar was less than stellar when a young man rang my doorbell this afternoon despite my very clearly posted No Soliciting sign. His wording was very carefully scripted to make it sound like he was coming out on behalf of PG&E to work with customers to lower their bill and preserve the environment. It's the same wording the no name alarm companies use to make it sound like they are coming out on behalf of ADT to service your equipment. Don't fall for it, they are their own private company looking to get you to sign up whether or not you will save money. Chances are not as their contract terms are not consumer friendly. While I usually give companies who ignore my No Soliciting sign a one star review for being inconsiderate, I added an extra star in this case because the salesman was hilarious. Not intentionally, of course, but his hair reminded me of that guy from the History channel's Ancient Aliens show. I also found it amusing when he kept referring to himself as a representative for our "local energy company" and mentioned that he was in a work study program at a nearby high school. American Array Solar is not a community based company despite how they try to make it sound. They are based in Oakland and hire teenagers in other communities to make it seem like signing with their company is helping your own community. Instead, it's simply exploiting kids in your community. I moved here from Oakland a couple years ago and I can tell you that their door to door tactics wouldn't work where they are based. If you try ignoring No Soliciting and No Trespassing signs there, you will find yourself back out on the street without your shoes. And that's on a good day. I'd suggest getting a referral from neighbors or looking up some local companies on your own rather that going with a company that uses door to door sales. read more

They add very little equity to your house. One of the reason I purchased from them was that the solar panels were supposed to add dollar for dollar to the equity of my house. This is what the salesperson told me. Well, now I am refinancing my house and low and behold they barely add any equity at all. definitely not dollar for dollar. The only way to get the true benefit of solar panels is if you buy them outright. If you buy them on loan and add to your property taxes there is no savings because of the amount of interest on them and because of the new tax laws, you are limited to write off $10k per year of property tax so you might not even get that benefit of it depending on how high your property taxes are. Do your research and talk to some real estate appraisers before you decide to buy. Their sales people are very good at telling you stuff that isn't true. If you don't have the money to buy them outright, then don't be duped into purchasing them through and programs. My real estate broker said that they are if anything a pain when it comes to selling. If you still owe on them buyers may not want to assume the payment. so again be careful and do your research. read more

A good business treats every customer with respect, even the ones they end up not doing business with. That's not how American Array Solar works. We worked with Omar. We had several lengthy meetings at our house. He gave us quotes for different capacities (different #'s of solar panels). He had us review and sign a lengthy contract (which was full of grammatical and spelling errors that sometimes clouded the meaning of the contract) and only then did he send someone out to do a "site assessment" to confirm they could do the work. Site assessment guy poked just around in our electric panels, never went on the roof, said I'd hear back that same day. Days go by, no word. I email Omar asking for status, no response. Finally I call the company and I get a woman (Maria) I've never spoken to before who casually tells me they can't do the work but can't explain in any detail why not. This was an unprofessional way to end the relationship. If you work with them, I recommend you get them to do the site assessment first before you waste much time on quotes and contracts. Side note 1: Omar later told me he couldn't call me because he was on vacation. No excuse. A good company hands off responsibility to another rep when someone goes on vacation. Side note 2: I read the glowing 5-star Yelp reviews before we started working with American Array and I had a suspicion then that a lot of them were fake. This experience reinforced that suspicion. read more

I started my solar search through EnergySage and American Array was one of the lowest cost bidders initially. The use the panels and invertors I was hoping for, so I proceeded to get a real quote for them based upon actual usage. The sales stage with Keirnan was great, he was responsive and took the time to answer all of our questions. We moved forward into the design phase with Sam, who was great in rearranging a few panels to make sure the house would still look good from the street. The installers were another team who were also very friendly and efficient. They did leave some slight damage to our roof which was repaired at the time of solar panel inspection. We did have to wait 6-7 weeks for our city inspection to make it out to us, this was the longest portion of the wait time and out of American Array's control. After inspection, we passed and the system was turned on. it was inspected again by American Array and hooked into the monitoring app. We don't know yet how it will all work with PG&E, but hopefully our planning will all be worth it! I received an offer through American Array (AA) through Energy Sage, along with several other offers. After evaluating the offers and working on a couple designs, I committed to AA. Danny was very helpful with the initial explanation of the process, design and financing options and then Adam took over on most of the remainder of the process. He worked great with us on design and provided several options for the layout. Once the layout was finalized, the process went really quickly. The county permit was issued in two business days and the entire system was installed three days after the permit was approved. Final inspection was scheduled about two days after installation. It was very quick and the system has been working well. Today I received approval from PG&E and they have officially allowed the system to operate. Never call to make appointments, they just show up out of the blue. Try to act like they are a big company when they really have a handful of office staff and some subcontractors. Rarely did they deliver on promises and never without tons of effort on my part. Do yourself a favor and use someone else. I love solar and recommend it to everyone I know. Have had 4 friends install it since mine, I told them all to stay away from this place. Plus the pricing you get is really high, you could buy the materials needed and higher your own contractor for about half what they want. To top it off I couldn't even get a invoice showing parts and labor. If you want Home Depot parking lot quality work, with a bunch of hassles, coupled with low outputs, then this is the place for you.
