Reached out for a quote to reseal a few roof vents and to check on a crack in my ceiling. Two crew members showed up at the scheduled time, and spent only 20 minutes on site before stating a new roof was recommended, and stating that some dark spots around the ceiling on my chimney were "definitely" water damage. They additionally stated that the closed valley style of the roof "would not pass code". I've since had multiple other contractors on site who spent a much longer time examining both the roof and chimney, as well as actually going into the attic. There were no signs of water damage present on the underside of the roof decking, the "water damage" around my chimney just happened to be a bad paint job by the prior owner, and the "closed valley" roof style is certainly code compliant. One additional star for responsiveness and showing up on time; however, I will not be pursuing services through American Cool Construction. read more

During an attic inspection, we noticed a small discolored area on the underside of the roof deck and was concerned that it was dry rot. Nothing was leaking, thankfully, but the roof was old and it was time to get it replaced. The roof is an important structural component of any home and it's always best to research the company ahead of time before initiating any contact. Check the Contractor's License Board and make sure the company is licensed, bonded, and insured. Read the reviews posted on this website (as well as others). See if there are any complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. (This company passed all those checks.) It had been over 20 years since we last had any home re-roofed and we were surprised as to how much the industry had changed. A 15-year roof was an option then but it isn't today. (Not that we would ever go that route even if it were still available.) The traditional roofing underlayment, tar paper, is still an option but what was new to us was the synthetic underlayment. The lifespan (or durability) of the shingles have changed. Also, roofs must meet the Title 24 Part 6 energy efficiency standards and be a "cool roof". We contacted several companies and after reviewing our options, we decided to go with American Cool Construction. They weren't the least expensive choice but they were the option that worked for what we had in mind. They install a 50-year shingle (GAF Timberline). It comes with a limited lifetime warranty and is transferable in the event that we sell the home, which is a plus. As part of the re-roof, they install an ice and water barrier around the edges and seams for extra protection and add extra ventilation (if needed). They checked for dry rot and made sure that information was communicated to us. The completed roof looks very nice. There were a couple of minor issues during the re-roof process but the project manager made sure they were addressed and corrected. (Thanks Yan!) read more

We had American Cool Construction do a roof repair, and roof maintenance. Their project manager Guy, came out to inspect our roof and give us a price for the project. Guy was right on time, courteous and explained everything that needed to be done. The day the work began, his team was right on time and his foreman Giovanni kept us informed as the work progressed. Guy came and informed us of a pipe leak that was causing significant damage. Had his team not found that, it could have caused severe damage. Since Guys company doesn't do plumbing work, he reduced his original charge by several hundred dollars to make it more budget friendly for us since we now need a plumber. I had ACC fix leak in my roof last year. David came and gave an honest estm, comparable to others. The work was done very well. They replaced some broken tiles and fixed the leak. I called again couple of months ago to get an estm on roof replacement since I was thinking of Solar panels. The tile roof doesn't have plywood backing. David came again and did inspection and gave me free estm. He told me that the roof as it exist had another at least 10 year life. If the roof doesn't leak, it can last a lot longer. He suggested to have them come and inspect every Two years and fix if anything is broken.After that there was no sales or pressure and he left the info and call when I am ready. Our house needed a new roof so we started getting estimates, six altogether. Honestly, most of the companies we contacted for estimates did a good presentation, but Guy, from American Cool Construction did an especially wonderful job explaining and answering questions and we had a good feeling about him.
