I've been coming here since it opened in college in 1988. I've been here probably honestly 500 times. It's our pre-game ritual and we go to a lot of games! I love the breadsticks and crust. Get plenty of fresh ranch to dip into. There is a big beer on tap selection and a full bar. This is right on the main drag for campus and is the college pizza place to go for that vibe. I love that not much has changed since it opened. It's a Corvallis institution. The service is good and I like that there are a lot of long time employees that you see over time. American Dream Pizza serves up some of the best pizza in Corvallis, this location can just become very busy when OSU is in session, especially on game days! That said, this location is very convenient for those on and around the OSU campus. Wait time for food can vary extensively - I've waited as little as 15 minutes and as long as 45 minutes for my food. For those in more of a hurry, they sell pizza by the slice. Even then, it usually takes a little while for it to get to you. American Dream delivers from this location and has a pretty decently priced lunch special (their website advertises $8.95). This is a nice place to stop for lunch and a drink with friends when you all have time to spare. For a more "low-key" experience, try the location downtown, although that location can get pretty busy too, especially around the weekend. read more

My wife were in Corvallis to watch the NCAA Regional Baseball Tourney and we have been wanting to try the pizza from American Dream for some time as we had heard it was the best. It was!!! We each ordered a Mini and we were surprised that American Dream will do 1/2 and 1/2's for any size. So great. The toppings were plentiful as well. The crust was perfect as the flavor was outstanding. The service was excellent as we called in the order about thirty minutes out of Corvallis, and I picked them up to meet my wife in line for the games. We also had the fortune of meeting the owner of American Dream. We were told beforehand that he would be there...and he brought tables and lots of pizza that he also offered to us and many that were also standing in line. I've been here several times through the years when visiting Corvallis. Previous visits I really enjoyed the pizza but this time we came mid-afternoon and the pizza wasn't as fresh-it's pre-made, then warmed with your toppings to order, which at a busy time with fresh pizza being made, is good, but our pizza tasted like it had sat for a couple hours and then when reheated it was very hard on the bottom, and the edge crust I couldn't eat because of the crunch. Overall: Service was awful and the food was mediocre at best. Service downstairs where you order your food was terrible. There were tons of people behind the counter just walking right past customers waiting at the counter. Not a single person stopped to at least say, "someone will be with you shortly", they completely ignored the customers. This one girl just stood there slowly filling up ranch cups then finally set them aside before walking back to the counter to take an order from an elderly man with a walker who had been standing there for at least 10 minutes. We finally ordered our food and told them we'd be up on the roof deck, they said "no problem! Well bring it up". 45 minutes later... my husband went down to check on the order, he stood in line again for 15 minutes before anyone came to counter, in the meantime he had a conversation with an other customer about the crappy service, when he finally was helped they said, "oh yeah, your foods been done for a while, we didn't know who's it was"--you're a restaurant, you don't have a system for this? Or at least tell people, if you want your food, come and find it yourself. The rooftop was actually had a pretty nice atmosphere and happy hour drink deals were decent. However, when I up to the bar to get a drink about 5 minutes before happy hour ended there was a short line. The bar tender told the 2 people in front of me, "I'll give you the happy price since you've been in line", but when it got to me (2 minutes past HH) he charged me full price. It's only $4 more so whatever but it just kinda seemed a little rude since I was also in line before HH ended. Also, I only reason I ordered at the bar upstairs is because the beer I ordered downstairs tasted like the tap lines hadn't been cleaned in a while, it tasted pretty bad and I couldn't drink it. And finally, the pizza. It's was fine, not bad, but nothing specially. It was like a better version of a frozen pizza. I used to come here all the time with my roommates when I attended OSU. I'm a little surprised it's averaging a 3.5 star rating because they seem to be the go-to pizza joint in Corvallis and everyone seems to love it. It's always pretty crowded regardless of the time during the day. Honestly, I would recommend ordering a whole pizza for take out or just call in a delivery. Their delivery service is freaky fast! And the Handle Bar is dope AF. Now, their pizza by the slices are hit or miss. On one occasion I ordered a dope ass slice pepperoni pizza that sent my tastebuds to heaven. I also had a slice of Hawaiian that had me thinking about it two days later. However, I've also had a bbq chicken slice that felt like eating cardboard. I would guess it had been left out of a while but come on, the chicken was beginning to get all weird and dry and brown looking. Don't sell that. Either make a fresh pie (which I would never expect anyone to make me a whole pie just so I can have one little slice) or just tell me your out so I get a fresher slice of another variety. I can't believe I did it, and I'm glad I did. I don't find myself in the Campus area very often anymore. I ended up walking to the Credit Union from downtown, and just for fun asked the teller where he thought was good for lunch. He suggested a couple places, one of which was American Dream. I haven't been to the campus location for a long time. The downtown location is awful. What the heck. It was lunch time, so I thought I could risk it. Glad I did. I just got a slice with mushrooms. It was actually really good! Not just OK, it was good. The crust was not over-risen or over-yeasted. It wasn't burned, but it was cooked right. I have no idea why the pizza at campus is so much better. I remember when they opened the downtown location their pie wasn't as good. I held out hope that once the ovens got broken in they would be just as good. I mean the ovens at the Campus dream have been running since 1972 after all. Well, I guess the pie down there never got any better. It may have got worse. So it was difficult to step in to the old stand-by campus location. It has changed a lot. They got rid of the cool merman mural and replaced it with a tiny little bar. It wasn't open yet, but that's fine. Staff was friendly, and the pizza was good enough I almost got another slice! Perhaps in the future when I want to get in a five mile walk, I'll go up there for lunch. Worth it. I doubt I'll get a pie from the downtown location again. They need to send bakers, or at least the folks who make dough, up to campus to learn. The ingredients have to be the same - from the same supplier. Flour. Yeast. Vegetables. Meats. Got a text for the deadweek pizza special. So I called in a pizza and ordered one for my sister who lives in Salem. I was told I could only order one pizza. I spoke to the manager and explained to him that I wanted to order a second pizza for my sister, who is clearly a second customer and he told me that I could only order one per customer. So I asked him if my grandson could order her pizza and he said yes. So when I went to the downtown location to pick it up, my grandson paid for my sisters pizza and I paid for mine. As I was paying for mine, a second lady came over and questioned my order. She asked me if I got my pizza and I said no. So after I got my pizza, me and my grandson went over to look at the art on the wall and the same lady came over to me and said to me "In the future, do not do that again". Excuse me? I was so shocked that she was accusing me. If your promotional text message says "one per customer", then do not harass 2 customers who each have "one pizza". Even if my grandson wanted to purchase his own pizza and eat it, he has the right to do that. He is a separate customer from me. That is what the ad says. Unbelievable how rude I was treated. I've lived in Corvallis for over a year. When I first moved I was hoping to find a good pizza place to satisfy my cravings. Everyone recommended American Dream; because of those recommendations, I had high hopes. After a year I can assure you that hands down, without a shadow of doubt, American Dream Pizza is complete DOGSHIT. Any other local place far surpasses AD in quality, taste, and price. Now, before you start typing away in disagreement and disbelief, let me back up my claim. American Dream Pizza is HOT DOO DOO SAUCE for 3 main reasons. Number 1 - The Crust Arguably, pizza crust is the defining factor for any good slice. Too much oil and seasonings and the pizza is overpowering--not enough seasoning and the result is unappealing. With AD we have a severely under seasoned crust. Additionally it has a saltine cracker-like bitterness. Number 2 - The Toppings To be fair, I haven't tried all the toppings, but rating a pizza place by their most basic slice is the best way of determining quality. The cheese and sauce on their own lack flavor. Apart from that the cheese is mostly undercooked (by most modern American pizza standards). I had a simple pepperoni slice where every pepperoni magically slid off my pizza. The toppings did not adhere to the cheese and the sauce was so bland that at that point, I would rather just eat a saltine cracker with sauce and cheese. I would bet on my life that eating the latter would satisfy you far more. Number 3 - Price/Hype I rarely complain about price. But in this case I have to mention it because you should get what you pay for (Right??) To put it simply, their pizza is overpriced for the quality. Go to your local grocery store, pick up a frozen pizza, and you just saved $10+ and will end up feeling way more satisfied. Along with the price I have to mention the hype around AD. Life-long locals will ride or die for AD. I respect that, BUT, I think that type of loyalty is delusional. PROS Disregarding all of my "negative" comments, the pizza is obviously still edible. The staff has always been courteous and friendly, which I appreciate. The bar also has a great beverage selection. There are also other things on the menu besides pizza that aren't half bad. The Verdict / TL:DR American Dream Pizza aims to provide a small town solution to the age old business of cheese and sauce on baked dough; however, AD and its fans consistently overpromise and under-deliver. The pizza tastes bland and leaves me wanting something else. There is no defining good flavor or aftertaste that makes a slice from AD memorable. If you can afford American Dream, do yourself a favor and go to Little Caesars and buy 3 pizza's instead. read more
