After calling several different plumbers that seem to not be aware of what I was asking for Avalon knew what I was asking for right away. Did not charge me for coming out to quote me for a major project. Super helpful with explaining the process of how they have to work with the city, pulling permits, even coordinated the utility company to come out and get my certificate for compliance. #Cadillacservice Will be definitely calling them for other plumbing needs for my new house

We had been using a different plumbing company who had their whole admin team turn over and…read moreunfortunately their customer service and responsiveness tanked, so we reached out to Avalon in a bit of a pickle. All of the plumbers we've worked with have been knowledgeable and great, and Regina who answers the phones always gets back to my quickly (noting they do not provide 24/7 emergency services - but that's clear on their website and they tell you upfront). They've descaled our tankless water heater, double checked how it was set up by the previous plumbing company, connected a tub overflow drain that was just draining into the space between floors and dripping down out of a heating vent to the first floor (aka it wasn't ever connected when the tub was installed before we were involved), and more. I also really appreciate how their staff is willing to take the time for me to watch them and learn - I knew nothing about plumbing and have learned so much. They also have taken ownership of some small mistakes - just stuff like once someone came out to I thought descale our tankless water heater but he thought he was just assessing it - and they didn't charge me for that visit and came back as soon as it fit into my schedule. Since things like that happen and everyone is doing their best, I really appreciate companies like Avalon that just say whoops sorry, let's see how we can fix this. They also all are totally willing to wear shoe covers and masks when inside our house, are tidy and communicative, and just generally nice people to be around - which we haven't found to be the case with all other companies in this field. I recently left a slightly panicked message overnight about a possible gas leak (not being sure who to call - turns out the gas company was actually who I should call and they responded quickly) and Regina called me back right as they opened the next day to check in even though my question was outside of Avalon's scope. That's the kind of company they are and that's why I definitely recommend Avalon Plumbing whenever anyone asks me for a recommendation - they're great!

We subsequently had our line hydro-jetted by another company who provided a quote to repair a partially collapsed section of the line. The quote was high enough to warrant two other quotes, one of which was Advanced Trenchless (AT). I decided to choose AT for several reasons: first, they provided the Goldilocks quote that was not too high but not questionably low like the third quote; second, they narrowed the scope to just the collapsed part, not the whole section of crawl space behind it as the first one quoted; and lastly, I got a call from Ryan, one of the owners, who explained the unknowns and also confirmed that a permit was required, which the last quote omitted. Also, he was willing to accommodate my schedule after the holidays. As others here have noted, AT's team are true professionals. They showed up first thing in the morning, were prepared, polite and zeroed in on the exact location that needed to be addressed. I hovered some to try to understand the mysteries of outdoor plumbing, learning that work done on a past remodel was not done properly. The fix was quicker than I was expecting. Everything went smoothly, including the Central San inspection, before they closed up the space around the new pipe and cleanout, leaving everything tidy, even putting back a section of shrub that needed to be moved. Can't ask for more than that. Anyone in Lamorinda looking for quality plumbing and septic services should consider Advanced Trenchless. You can trust them to take good care of you in a timely manner at a fair price.

Horrible experience Glosage Engineering was contracted by…read morethe local sewer district to replace the main sewer line (not the lateral), trenchless. There is a utility easement along the property line, so no problem giving them access. They gave us a description of what they are going to do, and that seemed fine. However, reality looked much different. First they placed the line further into our property than planned. Then they excavated a huge hole, digging plants out and cutting irrigation lines. Next they decided to actually pull the new line across our entire property, damaging more plants and ripping out sprinkler heads and rocks embedded in the slope to prevent soil erosion. I pointed all these things out to Glosage's foreman and they promised to take care of it. Nope. They filled the hole, haphazardly put the tree back in the ground (not even streight) and just took off. I called them and the sewer district, nothing ever came out of it. The sewer district admitted that they had issues with that contractor and many complaints. I ended up spending a couple of hours and some spare parts from Home Depot to put things back in order. So my gentle advice: Be very careful with these guys!

They did what they said they would do and overcame any obstacle that arose without any complaint. The quote was 100% accurate, even though they incurred more cost than they originally thought. They completed the job on time and on budget which is rare in my experience as a home owner. It truly was a pleasure dealing with them and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to any of my friends and family. I had bids that were twice what Luis quoted, from 'supposedly' reputable local plumbing firms - for the same job.

San Jose Water verified that the leak was in fact within the house structure (no obvious water damage was seen). Freddy verified the leak and devised a 're-pipe work around' solution as the existing feeder pipes are embedded in the slab. The work crew led by Angel were professional and efficient. They were respectful of our home and communicated with us step by step. We had a couple of requests that were listened to and changed to our satisfaction. It was a hairy situation where I needed to install a new sewer line down a shared driveway and into the public street. Various permits and inspections from the city as well as the sanitary district were needed, I had some concerned neighbors to deal with, and we had to do it in a way that protects a large heritage tree right near the work. Freddy was extremely patient and creative during the scoping process. He understood the requirements and concerns of all parties involved and offered different solutions based on what the needs were. He and his office manager Fiona did a good job of managing all the admin stuff as well. I never felt like the team didn't know what they were doing or didn't have a plan. Once the job started, Miguel did an excellent job managing the work and the team. His communication was great and he quickly corrected course based on any concerns or requirements raised. Miguel was a good foreman. I felt in good hands the whole time and I thought the team was very diligent in cleaning up each day, keeping me updated on progress, etc. I'd definitely work with them again.
