Jorge and his crew have never let us down.  This time it was a clay pipe sewer lateral that services a circa 1960's duplex located at the very rear of our property.  It was a  lateral we didn't even realize we even had.  Both tenants (on two consecutive days) contacted us because of backed-up water in their downstairs bathrooms. Within 2 hours, Jorge arrived on prem and was able to snake a section of lateral to relieve the backup temporarily. After one week -of obtaining the City of Berkeley permitting and utility company markings, he arrived with a team of five to begin the process -starting with camera diagnostics. He replaced the entire 100 ft. lateral using the trenchless method, and it took them four days to complete the job. The only bummer was they needed to tear up my side of the garage to access the cleanout, but they plastic-covered everything in our double car garage,    Jorge cared for everything end to end, including permitting and final sign-off, utility markings, safety cones in the street, hazard signs, excavation, gravel, and concrete replacements. The driveway was neat, swept clean, and plastic-covered mounds of dirt at the end of every work day. Jorge at J.J. Rooter was on site doing a sewer lateral replacement while I was finalizing bids for sidewalk and retaining wall repairs. I selected the contractors based viewing dozens of Yelp reviews and solicitations from neighbors. After many phone calls, I received estimates from 4 contractors; most provided their estimates based solely on photos of the site. Jorge looked at the project and provided a competitively priced estimate. I went with Jorge based on the quality of work he and his crew were doing on the lateral replacement and the way he worked (open communication, very responsive, prompt/on-time). The project went from being a chore to a pleasant, low-stress experience. Work was completed over the course of about a week; they took care of all the necessary permits and inspection scheduling as well. They didn't mind me asking questions and snapping a few photos. They also ensured the area was cleaned up and safely secured (pylons, caution tape, barricades, and boards over trenched areas) at the end of each day; all without prompting. Communication was great throughout. Both Jorge and his son were extremely open about status of the work being done as well as the viable options (environmentally friendly recycled base rock and reuse/disposal alternatives for concrete). We ran into a plumbing issue with my house addition. My sewer line had to be moved because the old sewer line was blocking the new foundation. J J Plumbing was brought in by my contractor. They gave us a reasonable price and even finished the job ahead of the estimated time frame, this way the project didn't get too delayed. If you need the job done right the first time and at a decent price? Jorge is the man. He was able to fix a water main leak and change out the main shut off valve in a couple hours. Made this such a painless process that I appreciate the professionalism that came with his service. Also looked at our weak toilet and figured out that it was a faulty new unit itself. We highly recommend J&J. They showed up to fix our clogged drain and sewer line promptly the same afternoon that we contacted them.
