They closed all the holes in the walls (no more air coming in) where the old convectors were located; they repaired the flooring so that it looked seamless; and they installed baseboards to mask the gaps left by the new convectors, which were a slightly different size than the previous ones. (The convectors were installed by a different company, so they coordinated with them nicely). They also installed a brand-new lighting fixture on the bedroom ceiling (lots of concrete drilling involved), hung a metal shelf in the bathroom, and closed all the holes in the kitchen left by the previous contractor when the kitchen was remodeled. No more mice! Wonderful service, punctual, and would happily call again for anything else I may need.

Messaged a few contractors here on Yelp for last minute projects we were looking to get done before…read morewe rented out our townhome, and Jose from Hernandez Contracting was the first to respond to my message. He was able to come by our place on the same day for an in-person quote and after deciding that we wanted to work with him, he was at our place ready to work the very next morning! He said he was able to come by to start work at 9am the next morning, but he was there not only on time but a bit earlier by around 8:30am! We had started off with 3 projects for him, which he quoted us for, but I ended up asking him if he could do more little projects, and he was able to take on anything we asked of him. He's awesome, he was even so respectful to take off his shoes when he worked inside our home. The projects he was able to complete for us was: 1) carpentry work in our garage (to secure some previous work done before we bought our townhouse, there were some unsecured wooden pillars barely holding up a wooden built-in storage shelf). Jose even told us how he would make it even more secure by adding more pillars where it would hold more weight on the shelf and be more secure; 2) filled up a hole in our wall, he was able to patch it up with drywall and matched the exact paint and by the time he was done and paint dried, you would never have known it was there! 3) he installed a new storm door for us, our previous storm door had a broken door handle, and Jose was able to install a brand new storm door that we had purchased, he even made sure that the storm door we bought was the correct measurement. 4) Jose installed new hardware on our kitchen cabinet doors, they were all aligned! He took the project off our hands. 5) upon request he was able to fix our closet door that wasn't aligned properly, so it didn't shut! When we bought the house it was like that, Jose fixed it! 6) he glued & aligned some wooden pieces coming off that were framing our attic crawl space. 7) he went above and beyond to find some new window screens that we couldn't locate locally, so he drove to another state to look for it the very same day! He wasn't able to locate it, so he ordered the correct sized window screens and installed them as soon as he could after it came in the mail! He was able to get most of the work done in just 2 days! Minus the window installation, which was done as soon as possible, once he special ordered it and after it arrived! His preferred payment method is through Zelle. Jose is an amazing handyman! He is punctual, very reliable, kept his word when he said he would come by and do our projects, and did great work in a timely manner. I would recommend him to family & friends, and we will definitely work with him again.

We went a little over 10% over budget, which is just about what I expected for a project like this, and I was pleasantly surprised that we actually finished a few days early. The work comes with a 3-year warranty too (which we needed in the past and have had no trouble using), which gives extra peace of mind. Each person on the project - Elena the project manager, Juan the site supervisor, Alexa the designer, John the estimator, and especially the lead technician Cornelio was a pleasure to work with. As with any renovation, there are always surprises and hiccups along the way, but the team handled everything professionally, even when I was stressed and occasionally cranky. One thing of particular note was how much the team was willing to work with me when the inevitable surprises came up. There are things that nobody can foresee, which usually results in a change order and extra cost, but then there are those little things where everyone leaves a conversation with a different impression. In those latter instances, I always really appreciated how willing everyone was to meet me halfway and to make sure I felt good about how things were going and confident that we were doing right by each other. The quote was reasonable, not the most expensive and not the least expensive, but solid. Tom helped us design the plan of action, including removing the bathtub and replacing it with a walk in shower, and shortly thereafter the work began. What can I say other than "Wow". Tom, Jose and the whole crew were absolutely fantastic. Whether it was Ruben whose work ethic would put anyone to shame, or the beautiful work that Ronald did on the tiling, the end result (just shy of 2 weeks later) was better than we could have hoped for. I cannot give enough of a glowing recommendation throughout the entire design and remodeling process that blue collar scholars provided. They showed up on time for the estimate, provided multiple options, gave us multiple designs and material selections for our home addition in Maryland. We got three quotes, however, this company's professionalism and attention to detail is what sold us. Working with their architect Sam was also an incredible experience in itself. When shovels finally broke around three months later, the foundation team, the framing team and the roofing team did a great job, keeping everything clean as we were still living in the house. We finally had to move out for two months as they opened up the original part of the house and connected it to the addition and completed all of the finish finishes. There is now a gorgeous, open kitchen, a brand, new master suite, an amazing Jacuzzi, a custom sauna, beautiful, big windows, and just incredible tile work throughout the new bathrooms we have. Their landscaping team did a phenomenal job completely over hauling our backyard. We now have privacy and a lot more space for our family.

We now have the best patio in our DC neighborhood, our drainage problems are nonexistent and we are able to host gatherings very easily with tons of fun! They provided options for a stone patio, paver patio, and a brick patio. Obviously, as you can see in the pictures, we went with the brick! I love the timeless look, and I think it goes really well with the rest of our yard and the look of our home. Special shout out to their Forman Erick and his two assistants!
