I often visit this location when I'm in this neck of the woods as it's a really beautiful to hang and the scene is fun with games, kids/family's running around, fire pits, the farm, and river across the street. We sat inside this time because it was 30 min instead of an hour wait to be outside. In part I think you are paying for the experience here, not that the pizzas (or flatbreads which are pretty similar) aren't good but they are pricey. On this occasion we wanted to try the special salad but they were all out so we got the regular evolution. It's a simple, but fairly priced and deliciously dressed salad that I would recommend. Pizza wise we split medicine wheel, classic Vermont sausage, and a split pepperoni cheese for the kids. All of the pizzas were tasty but I maybe liked the herbs on the medicine pizza the best. Service we knew would be slow because of how busy it was but perhaps not as slow as it was. Drinks came relatively fast but then it took probably thirty minutes to place our order which, after waiting to get in, meant that kids weren't eating until well after 8 when we got there before 7 which was less ideal. read more

I just had a terrible experience at this restaurant. Have been going there since it opened and had a warm spot in my heart for it. No more. I was there a couple of years ago with my dog - we sat outside - and had a lovely time and no one said anything about my dog who was leashed and is very well behaved. The manager tonight told me I had to leave her in the car - there was an hour wait for the table. He was incredibly rude, refused to let me do take-out which would have been fine. As an older person who was alone I felt his scorn when he refused to work with me. I will never go back. read more

Decided to visit on Thursday, we were a group of 4. We arrived at 4:30 which was just 30min after they opened and we were shocked to see that there was plenty of parking and we were seated right away, right in front of the oven! The salad was fresh and delicious and we all loved our flatbreads. The beer menu and drink menu was impressive (I mean this is Vermont after all!) And we did have table service from a waitress which was fast and friendly. All in all we really liked this experience and are ready to go back. I can imagine on a nicer weather day (it was raining for us) it would be amazing to hang out outside with a drink by the fire pits. A great Vermont experience. Let me start by saying their pizza is very good and they have a nice selection of beers. That said, it seems every time I eat here someone feels the need to bring their squalling baby or obnoxious, ill-behaved children to disrupt what should have been a peaceful quiet evening out. The final straw today was the mom who insisted on parking her baby's stroller next to her table, disregarding waitstaff's attempts to move it out of the way and then insisted on *singing* to her child, as if we were sitting in her dining room at home. This place is crowded and noisy as it is. No need to ratchet the volume up by permitting parents to bring their unruly kids to disrupt other diners' meals. So, while I try to eat locally to support local Valley businesses, I suspect I'll be getting my pizza from now on in the Upper Valley at Cantore's, where the pizza is as good and probably better and where I have NEVER had a meal disrupted by parents who haven't got the decency to leave their children at home. Lovely place for pizza, as there are picnic tables outside that you can eat at so you can enjoy the fresh air and the fire pits. The pies are large but thin crust, so one can feed about two adults. I've been coming to American Flatbread for many years and I even plan my trips to VT around their opening hours. It's not just the food it's the experience and atmosphere that makes it a perfect family experience. Simple food with local ingredients. Get there early and put your name down then just grab a glass of wine or local beer and wait outside by the fire and enjoy the view or conversations with locals or other visitors. All this while your kids can run around the big field and play yard games (bring some). Went with my family here in August as part of our vacation. I was looking forward to it as it had been three years since I had last been (Covid restrictions). Unfortunately it was raining upon arrival so we ate inside. We ordered 4 pizzas cheese, pepperoni, revolution, and the weekly special which had local braised beef on it. If you get the salad please add the local blue cheese. It really makes a difference. My only complaint was they had a special weekly salad that I thought would be fantastic but was a bit of a disappointment. Id definitely recommend sticking with the revolution salad with blue cheese. We also got two desserts for the table to share. One was an absolutely amazing authentic shortcake. Id definitely order it again during strawberry season. Everything was as good as I remembered and I can't really say anything bad about this place. Luckily the rain stopped and instead of hanging out outside before dinner we did after instead. Update, things have changed since Covid. The old, super annoying method of putting in a reservation (showing up in person in the *afternoon) is over. You now show up and wait for a table and when the table is ready you order at the counter, pay and sit. The wait for food is not insignificant. Everywhere you go there are staffing issues. Patience is needed. Salads came fast. You may not get your pizzas together. The food is the same, tho, delicious and fresh. The one update I would make is if you *prefer gluten-free, don't do it here. The tastiness of this pizza absolutely lies 50% in the wonderful crust and 50% in toppings. The gluten-free was not great. I had it with mushrooms and it was pretty tasteless. If you're gluten free I advise using many toppings. read more

Just read the numbers of reviews that complain about the reoccurring problems of RUDE SERVERS-NO RESERVATIONS & A HORRIBLE WAIT TIME..The reservation receptionist is rude, arrogant & not professional to say the least. They refuse to take reservations, you must come in prior to opening and place your name on a list and wait. They make you feel like Flatbreads is extending you a big favor by providing you a table. Honestly it's facade of a pizza place. There strategy is to hold you hostage so you buy alcohol for hours before getting a table...I highly recommend you skip the flat bread attitude/arrogance and try Blue Stone Pizza instead. American Flatbread eventually answered theirs and I got stuck with a three hour wait. Which I thought was a little weird for a pizza place, but okay... The sausage pizza was really good. Really high quality ingredients. Pie could've stood another few minutes in the oven. I know they will also "par bake" a pizza, but I could've sworn I asked them to bake it all the way, another first for me with a pizza place, so maybe that's just how it is? Another COVID-time review. The family and I visited American Flatbread for pizza to-go after a long day in VT. Ordering over the phone was easy, once we had reception, and pickup was pretty fast. Overall, the pizza was good, but it's tough to compete with NYC pizzas. Pricing was pretty expensive for the size of the pie. Ingredients were high quality and the pizza was fine. I had a weird first experience, felt a little unwelcome by the host and waitstaff with a 12 month old even though she was well behaved (are kids not allowed? It was confusing.) Folks making the pizza were much higher vibe, so high fives to them. But anyway, fast forward a year, and we decided to go back. This time, picnic-style outdoors with take-out pizzas due to COVID and the experience was better. We didn't really talk much with anybody because it was take-out but you can't deny the atmosphere outside is beautiful with all the tables, chairs, fire pits and outdoor seating. We've been coming to Sugarbush for almost thirty years. Every season someone we are with wants to go here for pizza. We hate to do it because it is always so stressful. No reservations. You need to get your 'name ' in by 4:00pm which is their gimmick to make it so popular everyone will want to come. We went tonight, early, without a 'reservation' or our name on the list. There was no one there but we're told it was a 'full house' at 6:30. We asked yo sit at the bar (also empty) but were told only 2 of us could eat there (there were 3 of us). My husband even offered to stand. The host and her daughter were unfriendly and rude. I don't care how good business is, your food isn't that good that you act like this way to customers. We ended up going to The Sage restaurant and it was off the charts delicious. The owner and waitstaff could not have been nicer. This was our last shot at this place. Never going back. read more

My family arrived to American Flatbread for dinner and were met with rude servers. First of all, after ordering drinks at the bar, they told us to step away from the bar. Once we sat for dinner, they got our order wrong 2 times. My daughter's gluten free meal was over cooked and dry. She asked for some dipping sauce and was told it would cost $3.00. I had to ask for a napkin since the table was not properly set for 4. Flatbreads were also just satisfactory not special. Two weeks prior, I stopped in and was told that they were out of flatbreads!
