Just tried Green Peppers for first time in 3 years...wow, awesome pizza. Cheese and Pepperoni were so good!

One of the few places that are open on Mondays. The employees were very kind and helpful and neighborly. Being from NY I am particular about pizza and this wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't bad either! The store had a dozen or so tables in the back. The building itself has a ramp to get inside, but the corridor in front of the counter would be tight to fit a wheelchair through. read more

This was one of the places open during our Vermont visit and we were craving pizza, so decided to give it a try. We ordered half pepperoni and half Mexican, and they both were great! It's a little odd to me that I look on google maps a lot to find a place nearby to eat and this place looks great, lots of reviews (143) and more stars (4.4). If I had looked at yelp I might not have came! Lots of offerings at a good price. Very nice friendly service, very attentive. The place was quiet for a Saturday, I was very happy to not have to deal with a lot of people. The food came out fast! I got a ham club, hubs tortellini with alfredo and an appetizer of mozzarella sticks (so good)! Everything was good tasting, hot and fresh. we had no complaints. Very good food and prompt, friendly service. The owner is a great guy! The menu is pretty extensive. I have enjoyed a couple of different types of sandwiches and several different kinds of pizza. This place is literally amazing, y'all. The portions are HUGE, and it's fantastic. We got a pepperoni pizza that came within just a few minutes of us ordering (like, less than 10!!), and the cheese gave the best stretch. Very satisfying. The regular salads are def for sharing, but they're super generous with their toppings. Their desserts were wonderful, and even more wonderful was the service. The lady who waited on us was SO NICE and absolutely hilarious and I want to name my next child after her. Paper straws are lit. Awesome options. In conclusion, yes. read more

Green peppers has been a Middlebury staple for as long as I can remember. Recently visited and the pizzas are a step below frozen pizzas. The whole pizza was flavorless. The dough was terrible, the sauce was terrible and without any spices. Toppings were average, but lacking any quantity (pizza was barely topped) They make you wait outside in the parking lot to bring the pizza out. There are much better places in Middlebury for pizza better tasting pizza and service. read more

In town for work from Philly. 8pm. Needed food. Exactly ZERO places deliver after 8pm. Never heard of such a thing. Not even a Dominoes or Pizza Hut within 30 miles, that's how desperate I was. Almost no places were even open after 8pm (except the McDonald's that didn't know how to serve just a soda without being confused). How do people live in this town??? There's a college for god sakes! Anyway, desperate times, desperate measures. Got dressed and drove to this place (what is this, the stone age???) because a) it was open, b) the menu said they have pizza. Saying this was bad pizza is an insult to bad pizza. This DiGiorno wannabe was the worst thing I have ever ate that calls itself pizza. I threw half of it out and ate a 2-day old salad. THREW. OUT. PIZZA. That's like a capital offense in Philly. OMG I should have driven into the woods, ran over a bear, and ate it. That would have tasted more like pizza. I might die in Vermont from starvation. Worst pizza I have ever had. We had the Z special. There was 1 piece of pepperoni on each slice, the peppers were undercooked and huge, i even found an onion peel on my pizza. The crust was so dry and hard it hurt my mouth and tasteless. Dont waste your money or time. read more

After eating there dozens of times, I've yet to be disappointed with any meal I've had at Green Peppers. The price is right and the staff are all attentive, courteous, and friendly. It can get a little crowded before a Friday evening Middlebury HS home football game, but the longest wait I've ever had was about 30-40 minutes. You can make reservations, but only if you place your order at the time you reserve. I typically order an appetizer, so if I change my mind as to what main course I want before I get there, it's no big deal. The pizzas are excellent with ample toppings. I highly recommend the Z Special (apparently named after the original owner), which has a tasty assortment of meats, fresh veggies, and mushrooms. At least for me though, THE reason to go to Green Peppers is the buffalo wings, which are simply the best I've had anywhere in Vermont. While the sauce isn't overpowering heat-wise, it's not a standard buffalo sauce made with Frank's and butter either, although those ingredients are in there. If I had to guess, I'd say they add apple cider vinegar, black pepper, and probably blue cheese. If you can figure it out, let me know. I've asked and they won't tell me :)Anyway, like I said, the wings are outstanding and worth the trip by themselves. I come to this place once a year almost like tradition for a swim meet I attend here. This last time I was not happy w/ the service received & the tables hadn't been cleaned yet either. We had the tossed and Greek salads, chicken parm with penne, chicken broccoli Alfredo with linguine, garlic bread, cheese and bean nachos, iced tea, and a couple sodas. (Total bill with tax: $41). Everything fresh, delicious, large portions, and economically priced. Service friendly, cheerful, welcoming. Ambience is like a family diner. Our fourth or fifth visit in as many years on our annual trip to Vt, and consistently excellent. read more

We visited this past weekend with a large group after a hockey game and enjoyed both the food & the service. The decor is kind of grungy, but don't let it deter you from eating here! read more

We've eaten twice this week at Green Peppers, the first time was good, lunch salads were excellent. Our second visit wasn't as good, the french onion soup was terrible, the pasta was cold, the sauce was colder and the service was slow. When me and my family went in we were kind of skeptical because of the decor. It seemed like your average pizza joint though. We sat ourselves, this was a monday night, and our table was clean. The people were very friendly and our waiter came right away. As an appetizer we got chips and salsa. The chips were a little salty but good and the salsa was fresh. My mom ordered ravioli with their homemade sauce which according to her was amazing. My dad ordered spaghetti and meatballs which he said was pretty good. My sister got fettucini alfredo which she liked and I ordered the chicken parm. They give you a large portion of what you order. HERES A TIP, if they ask if you want bread and butter with your dinner just get one if your with 3-4 people. They give you about half a loaf on your own and 4 pieces of garlic bread if you ask for that instead. The food was good for the value. How can you beat 8 dollars for chicken parm??? I don't know how their pizza is but their entrees are pretty good. read more

Okay, not great. Good alternative when the Inn didn't have room in the restaurant for hotel guests, as its in walking distance. Door is on the grocery store side, which is confusing for those of us from out of town. (There was a sign that the door was for emergency exit only, but no direction, then, of where the real door was located.). Fairly robust pizza and pasta menu, family-friendly and comfortable. Good food, though the service was fairly slow for having only a handful of tables. read more

Ate there often as a child when we were in Vermont visiting my grandparents, and the chef salad is outstanding. I've planned an overnight trip back there just to get this salad, and when combined with the italian dressing, it brings back great memories, and still tastes just as good! We had a birthday party with guests coming over and we ordered pizzas for 2pm, which we placed the order at 11am. When we showed up to get the pizzas they told us 2:30. Only getting 2 stars because the pizza was good. Very disappointed in the service. Upon arrival it took quite a while for a host to even greet us & once she did, we were treated like an inconvenience because we hadn't called ahead. There was a large table reserved for another group & the other tables were full. We squeezed 6 of us into a booth with a chair at the end. We ordered & received our family salad, which took up any space left at the table. Concerned about where the 2 Medium pizzas were going to go when they were done & seeing 2 other booths open up, I asked if we could split our group & use another table. I was squeezed in between my 12 & 8 year old. This was after they had seated a group at one of the opened booths. We were very rudely told "no", that there was "no way, we are too busy." Minutes after being told no, they determined that the group that had reservations was 30 minutes late, so they separated the tables & proceeded to seat other people. Our waitress was clearly too busy for our table, we had to ask a different waitress to bring us the right salad dressing & to box our pizza up to go. She was apologetic that we didn't have room & that we were told we couldn't use another table, however when our waitress brought the pizza & our bill, she made no effort to apologize. We were very disappointed, my husband was born & raised in Middlebury and was excited to visit when we were in town, possibly for the last time as we are moving his mother home to Oregon with us tomorrow. Very disappointing that in order to enjoy our pizza warm he had to eat it out of the back of our rental car, as we are staying in Hinesburg. read more

The pick up window would make you think it's a typical college town style pizza place, but once you walk around the corner to the seating area, it changed my opinion. Stopped in on a Monday night about an hour before closing so we were basically the only people in there eating dinner.we decided to throw some curveballs at the waitress and she was awesome ( I think her name was Sarah?)the meat nachos were good and could have been a meal in itself. the pizza was different than anything I've ever had, and was delicious.Came back the next night for dinner and noticed a different crew working, but they did not disappoint. if you order a dessert, get the brownie a la mode, you'll thank yourself. read more

Green Peppers is not only my favorite place to eat in Middlebury, but has become my favorite place to eat period. I've eaten pizza, every pasta on their menu, at least 5 different delicious appetizers, and the yummiest salads there. I eat there at least once or twice every two weeks (aka whenever I can) and I have yet to be dissapointed with a single meal. They are doing a great job renovating, but even if they kept it how it was I'd still love green peppers for the following reasons: *best pizza I've ever had. I don't know what their recipes are but someone needs to give them a med *all their pastas are simple but equally as good. They make pasta better than I probably ever could. *wonderful service *a comfortable environment. No fuss. I'm a huge foodie and like to dress up and go to a fancy restaurant, but on many an occasion I've ended up wanting to just eat at green peppers by the end of all the fuss. *whatever ranch they use/make is the bomb. I wish I could get a tub of it to take home with me. *big portions for such a good price *have you tried the cheese garlic bread? Ugh I die of happiness every time. I've been to a lot of Italian restaurants and green peppers is the only one who actually makes it right. *10% if you come back within ten days!!! If you want a no-fuss dinner that's delicious, cheap, and satisfying go to green peppers. You won't be dissapointed.
