If there was less than a star I would give it zero. This company is full of unknowledgeable liers. I purchased a love seat, couch, end tables and coffee table. Delivered in mid January. The couch broke in late January. I purchased a warranty. When I called I was told to use the manufacturers warranty as the warranty I purchased is only good for one use. I waited almost a month to hear back from the manufacturer that our couch would be replaced. I then called the store as directed. The store assured me the couch would be delivered that Sunday at no charge to me. Sunday came and went 3 times, no couch. Called today to be told it would be out for delivery in an hour. Then I received a call saying that they don't swap out on Sundays. They wanted to charge an additional delivery charge and set up fee. Staff was nice while in store, but after you have signed documents, the professional behavior stops. They had to beg someone to deliver my furniture (charged $75). The delivery guy did not come until 10:00pm and needed help from my husband. HE then informed us that all of my furniture was NOT there and that the store neglected to call and tell me. Then the person they sent to put my furniture together never showed or called. I STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN ALL OF MY FURNITURE 12 DAYS LATER! If I could give this store a 0 I could. the salesperson mike is the absolute worst. I am trying to get my couch set I have ordered and no one from the store can help except the polite woman that answers the phone (the only redeeming quality). They don't call you back and frankly Mike does not care. Delivery was scheduled by mike, day comes, I call to find out when my stuff will be delivered. The woman tells me delivery starts at 1 but mike actually scheduled me a week away on another Thursday. Cheap flimsy furniture. Rude management. Bought a dresser opened the box and it was broken into pieces. Took it back to get a refund, they tried not to give a refund and brought out 4 dressers that were all falling apart. After demanding that we get a refund we had to wait for the manager to issue a refund. We waited by the sales desk and watch the managers high pressure sales pitch by poking a hole in a couch and offer to sell it at a cheaper price. When he saw that his pitch wasn't working he told them that he had to deal with some impatient customers and looked our way. We waited at the sale desk and didn't say a word the whole time. We paid cash but they don't give cash refunds so we have to wait 2-4 weeks to get a refund check. Just go to Big Lots or Meijer and by some furniture. read more

This place is terrible I would never use them!! Try never showed up with furniture, they lied to us! They kept calling saying it would be later waited for hours! Excuses truck broke down, then need to get gas! The manager of the Muncie store Simon refused to give me the District managers number! I asked him 3 times to give me the number and he said no! I had to call another store to get the district manager . The district manager Tim was eating or chewing something the whole time I was on the phone with him! He lied to me! I told them we do not want the furniture. Even though we have an empty living room because we have our old furniture to our son. Moved back in state recently and need furniture fast. Cincinnati has changed so much, many businesses have closed which forced me to go out of state to shop for furniture. I was advised to try American Freight for their reasonable prices, selection and quality. That's when the bull hit the fan. First off.... I walked in and the place was filthy and the merchandise which was on display was scratch & dent all messed up. Not necessarily an inviting display which makes you want to buy. Well, what more can you expect from a company that has Freight in the title. I decided to overlook that since the place is a warehouse/ Freight. So, I preceded to look around. All to desperate for a new bedroom set, I finally settled on one. I just keep thinking to myself "it's only the display furniture, not the quality of furniture which I'll get nor, which I'll be paying for ". To further the anxiety, I spent about 30 mins. entering all the required information in store, on-line trying to get an extension of credit. Who wouldn't want to have their new furniture delivered while, enjoying it and paying it off? Sad to say, American Freight still has the set. Now, to top it off... I placed a call to American Freight and inquired about how to make an payment On line or over the phone. I was told that they're not allowed to do that anymore and that I would have to come back in the store and pay in person .What business don't accept your payment on-line or over the phone in 2019? DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM THEM BAD QUALITY. I purchased a kitchen table set and sectional couch from them less than 4 months ago and paid cash $1100-1500. The table had to be replaced 2xs and the legs still fell out so I can't eat on it. The couch is sinking in so I put wood under the pillars to hold it up so it doesn't sink any lower. Not at all quality furniture and the warehouse is not at pretty to look at. The staff seemed pretty friendly though. Nothing caught out eye and the furniture looked to be not great quality for surprisingly not much more than other higher quality furniture stores. They had some cheap bedroom sets and beds for $300-$400 made out of particle board if that's what you're looking for. Probably wouldn't last very long though. read more

Decent prices on bargain furniture. So if your looking for 10-15 yrs. or more out of this stuff, think again. Sales people are great, they don't try to over sell you. Delivery is done by a 3rd party contractor. AND THEY SUCK! Sloppy, careless, assembly is an extra charge beyond delivery, and some will try and scam you by saying you didn't give them enough money or you were quoted the wrong charge. Don't fall for it, Call the store immediately! Cheaper and less headache to just rent a U-Haul for the day and do it yourself, if you can. read more

If I could give them no stars I would. The only thing that I like about American Freight were the sales folks. Super nice and not pushy. My fiancé and I were looking for a new couch back in February and we traveled two hours to look around Altoona, PA and came back to "what we thought" was a good deal. Bought it and they told us that it would take about 6 weeks to deliver for us and they would contact us. That put it to April, heard nothing from them and when called they still didn't have it in stock, May still didn't have it, when asked to have our money back we are told that you have to come down to Altoona again so they can return because of fraud!!!! But I didn't even have my Chaise for 24 hours & I contacted American Freight to tell them I was not Happy with it! No sooner had I mentioned 'box spring' than an employee had the box spring on the roof of the car, tied down securely (knots that would make a sailor blush) and ready to go. I put a layaway in on 7/17/15.After the intial $40 deposit The total was $2071.52 . The original delivery date was set for 10/11/15. I called and cancelled the delivery on the morning of 10/11/15 ,but I went into the store and I made a payment of $1,000. My new Balance was $1,071.52. On Thursday 5/19/16 I called to find out my balance and set up a new delivery date. I was told my items had been delivered on 12/16/15 . Furious, I asked where the items had been delivered. The associate then says ,"Oh ,I see you took the money off the bedroom, living room and dinette and put it on 2 mattresses and you picked them up 12/16/15 . I said sir, you've obviously given my things to the wrong person, how did you allow someone to make account changes AND "pick it up" without them showing proper identification? He nonchalantly told me to come in the next day and the Store manager Damon Blount would be able to show me the tape,and the signature abd resolve the issue. I asked for the regional manager's number,proceeded to call him and left a message giving a full run down. On Friday May 20th ,2016 I arrived at the American Freight, Warren store and spoke with a very lackadaisical Damon Blount. He showed me the customer pickup log, and I adamantly explained that that wasn't my signature. I asked about checking i.d of the person who claimed to be me. He brushed me off and said I'd have to take everything up with the regional manager. He then implied that I must have given someone my information, because "they knew the exact layaway amount,and the remaining balance" . I was floored,and said the only people who had that information are the store employees. I went to my car to call Doug Troop,regional manager. He also was no help at all. He said the tapes don't go back to December, he can't do anything for me,he can't prove that I did or didn't receive the two mattresses. I told him I believe this is fraud ,also that it's an inside job . He very nonchalantly told me to call the police,there was nothing else he could do. I'm beyond pissed. I have purchased from here before and had ok experiences...however our most recent experience was terrible and we will NOT be returning. We picked out a dining room set, walked the salesperson over to it and said "this is the one we want". We had a truck so they loaded the boxes into our truck for us and we were off- only to get home and discover it was the WRONG SET. When we called to complain and ask for them to deliver the correct set (they brag same day delivery so this should be no problem, right?) we had to fight the salesperson and then the manager to get them to agree to this. It was 100% their mistake and they wanted us to drive back in a rain storm with our open bed truck to fix it....no way. After much discussion and push from us they FINALLY agreed to deliver the correct set and pick up the wrong one --- 3 days later. I just purchased furniture at the The American Freight store located on Dequindre Rd and I must say I had an excellent experience. I walked in and was greeted immediately by the store associate. She helped me locate the perfect living room set for my apartment by first gauging what I was looking for and then took into account what type of flooring and walls I had. I recommend absolutely NEVER shopping here. They force you to buy things as a set when you don't want a full set, and then when a piece of the set falls apart within a few months they refuse to process your warranty claim in a timely fashion, and then refuse to refund you your money when you go elsewhere. This company's sales people misrepresent the products, and how "easy" the warranty process will be if you ever have a problem. Nothing but snake oil. Good deal on solid furniture if your willing to deal with terrible customer service!! Get delivery! So you don't have to deal with the warehouse employees. I pulled up with a truck (hourly rental) to pick up my furniture. I sat there for an hour and a half before I just went inside and loaded up 2/3 of my furniture myself. Still waiting on my recliner. The warehouse employee I spoke to said "I'm not carrying those heavy ass couches all the way outside". Another employee said "I'm not loading up all this sh*t". I started a layaway plan with American Freight on Dequindre in Warren, MI. and made payments on 2 bedroom sets every 2 weeks. My boyfriend was going to surprise me and went to pay in full the bedroom sets, but when he got there, one of my bedroom sets was discontinued and I didn't know about it until my boyfriend went there and stumbled on the news. They asked me if I wanted to choose something else, but after that I was afraid the same thing may repeat on another bedroom set, so I asked for a refund. They agreed, thank God , because I don't think they have refunds on their furniture, unless it was THEIR mistake. They told me to give them about 10 business days for my refund check and they would call me. 2 1/2 weeks went passed, nothing. I finally decided to call by the 3rd week. My check was there, (no callback from the store), but they CLAIMED $125 has to go back on my credit card. Hmm, I paid cash everytime. They investigated. Somehow they got my account mixed up with someone else. I had to wait for another 10 business days for the other refund check. Hmmm, 10 business days went by, no call. Went back to the furniture store, no check. Checked my mail, they mailed me my check, 6 weeks later. Never again. Great customer service at the store, but Inventory horrible. I suggest don't layaway past 1 month. P.S. : Don't buy the mattress. Watch the workers in the back carry the King Size mattresses by themselves without no help, very light, Hmmmm. read more

I paid $1000 for my couch. I called 2X to make sure my couch was available for pickup. Each time I was told, "your couch is in the warehouse and you may pick it up anytime you like". I showed up the following day with a U-haul truck and my couch was nowhere to be found. For their error I asked if I could pick out another couch, however, the only one I liked better was $300 more. They would not let me exchange unless the couches were the same price despite their major error. The staff and their superiors were unaccommidating and it seemed as though they were not trained properly. I made the suggestion to check another store for my purchased product. Only then did they comply. I then had to drive to Livonia for pick up. The U-haul charged me by the mile and time I've used their truck and the Dequindre location could only refund $25 for the mixup. The Livonia location was courteous and apologetic. If you're interested in going to American Freight for furniture, I would suggest driving the extra miles to the Livonia location to avoid customer service issues that may arise on Dequindre. read more

If you are going to finance with their preferred lender, American Financial or something like that, be very aware of what you are agreeing to. Make sure they disclose the exact monthly amount due, and the frequency of the payment. I was nearly conned into a 2 year contract for a $3500 loan, with a repayment totaling $9,888 !!! 145% APR ! The terms were vaguely disclosed, paperwork for the loan contract was not given, and an expected email that should have confirmed everything was never received. Had I not called the lender looking for the email just hours prior to delivery, trying to ensure this kind of thing didnt happen, I would have been hosed.Clearly they intended to send me the furniture, with me then being hooked into the contract with a $412 monthly payment ! I was told by the finance company Rep to go ahead and make the first payment next week, and maybe then we can revisit an adjustment to the terms. Um, NOT ! Buyer be very ware... read more
