The hero's are very hardy and packed with delicious seasoned meats and fresh shipped bread from NY. Tiny hole in the wall that packs a great deal on hero's and hoagies. The only down part of this business is when you walk in to order there isn't any direction or line to order. I felt like I was cutting people off. We love going to a American in Hero in Loris the food is fantastic but the one thing I would love to see them do is clean their place up a little bit when we were sitting in there yesterday, Wednesday, October 25 it really need to be cleaned around there window seals and it was some cobwebs in the corners so that's just the one thing that I would say but just say that the service is great the food is wonderful and we love to go in there but we would love to see it cleaner in there, so just thank you for your service read more

This hero shop makes all other look like crap. Subway can't hold a match to this store. The giant hero of Philly cheese steak was $15 and was 15 inches long loaded with steak and onions or whatever else you want to pile on it. The bread is not that skinny French loaf but a Fullsize Italian bread. Its cot into 4 pieces and it's a chore for one person alone to eat the entire hero. The serv breakfast as well. The only hero shop in Horry County worth your money. Subway down the road wishes they had their business. Parking area is small, but they turn out the food fast, fresh and hot. Try it and I am sure you will go back. Mention this review to them for all the hard work they do to make Loris a lunch stop. read more

Typically been good for years, but recently went downhill. Not sure if they changed hands, but their hours are changed. They are only open until 4pm, and 6:30pm on Friday and Saturday. Ordered a ham, turkey, and cheese. While their bread used to be great, not this time. Could be an off day, but the roll seemed different. Turkey seemed bad. Slimy. We moved out of the area, but still go to Loris for doctor appointments. But we won't be back to American Hero. Typically we've always seen Alex and the other guy behind the counter, and neither were present. That's why we wonder if there was a change in ownership. read more

This was my first visit to american hero's, I ordered a roast beef,turkey, cheese and bacon giant hero. It was 16 inches long at was $15. The bread was super fresh and cold cuts just sliced in front of me. I had lettuce, peppers, black olives and mayo with salt and pepper. It was the best sandwich I have had. Better than subway, jersey Mikes and crappy Jimmy Johns where I paid close to the same amount and got nothing for it. If you are in Loris and hungry stop in to American Hero's. The seating inside is small but the hero's are huge. They are so busy they work like an assembly line to get you in and out. Other places charge the same for a lot less. See photo below. Best subs we have found in the area. We drive 20 minutes to pick them up. #1 BLT is delicious. # 15 (I think) pastrami with provolone and caramelized onions is even better! Fresh salad was good. I have to confirm the reviews that say the Philly and the chicken, bacon cheese (#18) subs are great. Well seasoned, well cooked and large portions for great prices. The sub rolls that they have there is just perfect. I don't love really crusty bread when biting into a large sandwich but this was soft and a nice vehicle for the other fabulous ingredients. Found this place on Yelp, otherwise I would have never chanced it but glad I did. My boyfriend and I were heading home from a conference in Myrtle Beach. When we pulled up, the parking lot was almost filled and there were people crowded around eating at the one or two outside table(s). It made me a little nervous when walking in the door, a local and apparently a regular customer laughed aloud at us when we called him Sir while thanking him for holding he door. But it appears to be a very small town, and this place thrives off its regulars. Luckily we continued in to the counter and placed our orders. All 4 people we saw working were really working hard. I loved the fact that when they got backed up, the man working the grill stepped up and started taking orders. They have a honey mustard sauce that I suggest everyone at least sample. The vegetables that they had available to put on the subs looked and tasted fresh down to the dill pickle spear. Some of the choices were banana peppers, sliced red onion, jalapeños, fresh green bell pepper, shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes. They offer both fountain and canned sodas. I had a white chocolate macadamia cookie which was soft and nummy (yes, nummy). Once they slowed down a bit, the staff came over to check on us, knowing that it was our first time there, and talked to us for a few moments. Within a half hour, the restaurant all but cleared out and there was almost no one in the parking lot. These guys will get you in, out and on your way. Unfortunately, they will not deliver to West Virginia. For those of you who live nearby, they have a stamp card deal for frequent fliers.
