Went there with my son. My AC guy said it was the best burger around. When we walked in it was what we expected. A local place with friendly people ready to serve. There was a group of older southern people that were solving the world's problems that looked like they had been there all morning and had no intentions of going anywhere. Went up to the counter and ordered and told the lady we had drove an hour to eat there and she laughed and said you're crazy and she hoped they could make it worth it and boy did they. The burger was thick and juicy and everything I had hoped. It reminded me of a local place I use to frequent in Indiana. It was absolutely worth the drive to eat there and definitely will do it again. If you're heading through Ayner or just want a Fantastic Hamburger It's not going to disappoint. read more

Not only did we not get an apology, we were made to pay for both the wrong meal, and for the second one that was made correctly...and got an "unfriendly attitude" by the employee. This is actually the second time I've been here and it was just as good as the first. This restaurant is off the beaten path in "downtown" Aynor, SC. There really isn't much of a town or downtown, by Northern standards. It is mostly locals who frequent this hidden gem. It is a simple exterior, easy to miss with a small sign. Inside is simple and plain with its painted plywood ceiling. But the burger is far from plain. This is home to the Ned burger which is about a half pound of a delicious heart attack. If you are brave enough, you can order the double Ned burger which is about a pound of meat! I barely made it through a regular Ned burger and I passed on the fries and other sides. Not to out done, there is a triple Ned burger! There are some pictures on the wall of people who were able to survive that mountain of food. Don't know if they went straight to the hospital. The burger is not only huge, it is delicious. Quality tasting juicy hand slapped beef patty. Those who also ordered sides said the French fries and onion rings were perfectly prepared. If you are ever in the Aynor area, disregard the plain Jane wrapper and dive in for a Ned burger. read more

I asked for extra Mayo and she said and I quote " you can come up and get it yourself I'm busy" with an attitude a simple I'm a little backed up right now give me a minute would've sufficed or give me a couple minutes but she was very rude about it. My friend also tried to order and she gave the same attitude to her as well simply over adding a condiment, Loved my burger. But I would NEVER talk to my costumers the way that lady spoke to me and my family. I work in food service and get it, but that's no reason to be rude. Might not come back here for that reason. This place was hopping!! Super busy and they were keeping up well. I came in close to closing so I got my food to go. The regular cheeseburger with fries. There was so much food I split it into two meals. The fries were astounding. You could tell the grease was fresh but it still had the good flavor from other item mixed in... it just made the fries melt in my mouth. The burger was great and perfectly cooked. As we waited for our order the woman yelled at my two year old because he was coloring with a pen on a book that I gave him and said she didn't want pen on her table luckily I was in the bathroom it's this time cause mama bear woulda went off!! So we get our food the burgers were ridiculous like a 10lb burger one you'd see in a food challenge! The chili chz fries were basically canned chili with a few fries under neath and maybe some chz whiz collaborated in there just disgusting! I might have given two stars because the burger did have good flavor but I review on the over all experience of the places I go. As I'm a huge foodie and blogger I go anywhere from 5star rests., dives, food trucks, family style, the little joints that no one knows about and small town places like this one. The ambiance was not inviting and it was hot! But like I said it was the extremely rude mousy looking lady and ungracious host we had to endure that I give it one star. We went to Ned's based on reviews. My wife and each ordered 1 cheeseburger small ($3.95) 1 each French fry ($2.50). along with 2 Tap waters out of the faucet. The bill came to $17.92. When we questioned the bill she stated the waters were .75 cents each, along with lettuce .90 each, and the tomato for my wife's burger another .90 cents. The two gentleman next to us approached us and stated they ordered Ned burgers, drinks, fries and onion rings and the bill was over $40.00. We stopped for the first time at Ned's Sandwich Shop in September 2014 on one of our many trips between Columbia and Surfside Beach. We had heard good things about the burgers. I had a Ned's burger and my wife had the regular burger. We also had fries. We both thought the burgers and fries were really good. The food is cooked to order and you will have to wait a bit for the fresh cooked food. A bit pricey, but, again, locally owned and good food. The Ned's burger was huge - next time, I'll get the regular sized burger. So, we recommend! read more

We have lived in Aynor for 2 years now and today was the second and LAST chance I will be giving this place! The food is decent however the service is terrible!! I dont think I've ever been treated so poorly while dinning in an establishment. As soon as you walk in the waitress who has been the same lady both times we've gone barks " what do you want" and when you reply that you would like to look at the menu for a moment you get a disgusted attitude. They never came to make sure everything was cooked adequetly or to see if we needed anything. 2 thumbs down in my book. My hope is they will get some people that actually want to work and will be friendly to guests. read more

Called in an order to go..was told it would be ready in 15 mins. It took 20 mins...no big deal there. However, for 2 Ned Burgers with cheese, 2 fries and 2 sodas, the bill came to $26 and some change. The burgers used to be a lot bigger than what we got that day (Saturday, Jan. 17 2015)...it was about the size of a McDonald's quarter pounder..definitely tastes better than one though. The French fries were the saltiest french fries I've ever eaten in my life...well, the few that I chose to eat. All things considered... we won't be going back to Neds. read more

I went to Ned's at the suggestion of a friend from Myrtle Beach. I had the Ned Burger and it was awesome! It's HUGE and made from top quality, hand patted ground beef. The flavor and seasoning were perfect. The fries were just right, too. Ned's serves Pepsi products instead of Coke, which is fine with me. It was very busy at lunch time, so it took about fifteen minutes to get my meal. That's not a problem for me because it was a cooked-to-order meal, not fast food. The place was filled with nice local folks, so I enjoyed talking with them while I waited. The dark-haired lady that a few reviewers have disparaged was super nice to me. Perhaps that's because I took time to speak with her and get to know her. This is what you do in small southern towns if you expect to be treated well by others. However, I can understand how an arrogant northerner might run into a bit of trouble. If you act like a jerk, don't be surprised if the locals treat you like a jerk. read more

You can't go wrong at Ned's for a burger and fries. The burgers are hand patted, not frozen. My wife and I have eaten at Ned's many times as we travel between Our home in Greenville, SC and our house at Cherry Grove. I think the fries have been cooked to order every time, vs sitting under a warming lamp. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean, which is always something that I observe. Expect to be served on wax paper not a plate. Probably a necessity to keep cost down when serving smaller volume of meals. The iced tea is not as good as Five Guys or McDonalds, but it is adequate. The big negative is smoking is allowed. We have been lucky and only found it to be an issue on one visit out of at least 20. If this were the case more often it would be a deal breaker for us. Neither has any tolerance for cigarette smoke. Don't be mislead by the modest facade and interior. Ned's blows the doors off any franchise burger that I am familiar with except Five Guys and maybe Smashburger which is not in the area. read more
