I have had great interactions with your company in the past and that is why I chose you to complete the work when I needed a new roof on my townhouse. Your workers were polite and did great work when installing the roof. The paperwork side of things it is a different story. I had to "track down" the project coordinator multiple times. First, to schedule a time for him to come out with my insurance adjuster was going to be there. He, the project coordinator, did not show up when he said he would. Luckily, the insurance company still approved the work. Second, once the job was scheduled to find out what time the supplies would be dropped off and the work would begin. I had to call twice to get that information and still did not get a straight answer about the supplies. This was very frustrating as we wanted to make sure someone would be home when the work was completed. Lastly, to get the certificate of completion as required by my insurance company and the bill. The form for the bill was a little confusing and I wanted to make sure I was filling it out properly it took some time to get an answer about payment and I ended up calling the office to make sure payment was made properly. Overall, I would recommend the company for roofing work as they work itself was fantastic but, be prepared to have to track down the project coordinator for important information. read more

I had a gutter cleaning with American Home Contractors. I've been using them for over a year now and they never disappoint! Today, my technician was Omar Rivera and he was excellent. Very thorough and efficient. I appreciated that he took a video showing me where there was debris preventing water from draining in my gutters after a big storm we just had. Knowledge is power! Extremely disappointed in the quality of work of this company. They did a bump out window for us, which generally went well, although they left all the construction debris in a big pile on our grass which killed it and we needed to re-do. But most critically, several months after job completion a water-spot appeared inside on the ceiling under the new pop out. They came back to fix it, but it appeared again several months later. Initially they sent me a $6k estimate to fix it with detail of what needed to be done. When I pushed back on why I should pay another $6k to correct a problem they created, they agreed to do it for free. However, instead of doing the work needing to be done in the proposal that included new Tyvek and some other things, they simply tried to reseal with calk. When i reached out to point this out to the office, I got no response. They also putting siding back in place with unsightly screws, which would also seem to be a way for more water to get in. So I will not be surprised if the water spot appears for a third time. Today we saw a piece of the siding had fallen off. I guess I now need to pay someone else to do this right. The home I just purchased had a roof installed by American Home Contractors. The previous owners said there was five years left on the warranty. I called to find out about the warranty and was told it would cost $150 to transfer the warranty which I was fine with. When I called back I was told that they actually couldn't honor the warranty and it would be $100 for them to come out to look at the items that showed up on my inspection report. I asked if someone could call and explain the warranty issue but I have not heard back from anyone. read more

I thought their $200 roof tune up was a great deal but they could not match the color of our shingles and did not tell me in advance. After the work was done, I looked and saw what they put up was much darker. They tried to claim my existing shingles were faded. NOT TRUE. We just had new shingles put on the screened porch a few years earlier and the color matches exactly like the rest of the roof. We again need some replacements and I was able to go out an find shingles that perfectly match our existing shingles. They were either too lazy to look for the correct color or they just used the closest they could find from what was probably left over from another job. I will not call them again. read more

Wow! Incredible service by Hugo. In less than a few hours got a roof and gutter inspection. The price was lower than most others quoted and included sealing and a gasket. Had roof shingles and a skylight installed. PROS (in time order): * Initial communication was good (see CONS below for later communication) and all my random questions were answered patiently * They were able to do the inspection without me there which was a convenience to my schedule and I don't believe harmed the install. * Cheapest of places we got a price from. Some discounts were automatically applied including the Valpak coupon I had (the guy said he normally assumes folks have it so just included it - he seemed flexible to discount a smidge more if it was a dealbreaker tho I didn't press it/trusted him). * Gave multiple shingle brand options. NOTE: To a layperson this was additional research (like McDonalds vs Wendys vs Burger King) but it's still nice to have a choice. * When they did communicate, both email and phone were used, which I think reflects well on their flexibility. They do not text either which to me is a pro. * Job finished in maybe 5 hours. I was worried about rain (forecast for afternoon) but they got done before it. * They removed an old satellite dish that was there when we got the home free of charge * End work (roof and skylight) seems good CONS (mostly, in time order): * While we initially picked this company for their metal roofing, they only had commercial/industrial metal roofing not shingles. Related, they didn't (at least at the time) advertise any metal on their website, I had to ask if they even did it. * The contract had more fine print than any of the other contracts I looked at. As expected this mostly covers them not me. * After the contract was signed, company went dark for ~2 months. Eventually I contacted them via email and they immediately emailed back saying they'd been trying to communicate with me and hadn't heard back. They suggested I check my spam mail, which...then how did you just mail me back so fast? And not call? Sketchy, esp to blame your customer. PS: I check my spam regularly, thanks. NOTE: Once pestered they did schedule very promptly. * They require a deposit and as far as I know never stated this in any of their contract material. While I stated originally I wanted to pay check (and they said fine), they are not flexible with this deposit and wanted it online with credit card. NOTE: Final payment did not require this method. * The truck that offloaded the material left a large divot in my lawn. Company was non-responsive about this, despite the fact I tried to press for an answer. Also, more minorly (and maybe normal), I felt like they unloaded the materials on the roof rather forcefully. Both noise and slight foundation quaking. * I personally don't think the venting looks great but apparently that's what companies are doing now (other quotes were similar plans). * The wrong skylight was installed. It was admitted day 0 from their workers on the ground. The company (not the workers) were very non-communicative about how they would deal with this. I was even given a final bill without any word about this (or the previous). When I said I wasn't going to pay til resolved, they said quickly they were deciding what to do and then a while later contacted me about scheduling to install the right one. Annoyingly, they came a day before they said they were going to "because their guys were in the area". I was not home nor did I consent to the day change but they proceeded anyway (not sure why they even asked) so they got outside material all over my stuff on the inside making for some extra cleaning. Similar to the above, this was not recognized or responded to by my complaints even a word of apology or recognition. * Minor trash was left around our home (both initial even tho they had a dumpster) and on skylight reinstall. Nothing major but also IMO reflects on care level. TLDR; this company was fine, but I was left with a bit of a sour taste after the initial (great) communication and pricing was done and the feeling that it was cheapest but also you get what you pay for. Hopefully that is not reflected in the longevity of work but time will tell there. I also do not feel like this is a skylight company. It's a company which installs skylights. If you're just getting a skylight, I don't recommend them (tho they did fine, it was pretty clear they'd just buy and do whatever you wanted from Velux, so in that regard were just a contractor/liason...and didn't even get the right one). Finally IMO 3 stars isn't bad but it also isn't good. I think it amounts to "I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend this place but I also would work with them again". Disclaimer: I had this company do a previous roof inspection for me years ago and I probably would have rated that a 4 or 5 star. It did not really impact my decision to pick this company for this work though I did remember them being very low pressure then (same this time). read more

Mike had helped me previously with some minor roof maintenance. He was quick to respond and set up an appointment for the following week. He brought his colleague Chuck. The three of us were able to identify the likely culprits. They made a temporary repair on the spot to an outdoor space above the room in question while I wait for a quote on a total replacement of the outdoor flooring. I have used American Home Contractors twice. In 2021 for roof and gutter tune up. We had the gutters replaced because well another company (Long Roofing) did not know how to install gutters properly. I used AHC again December 2023 for another roof issue. The gentlemen checked everything not just the problem I thought we had. He even removed branches from the roof and glued down some loose shingles. I am about to call them again for another roof issue after having an attic fan put in by another company.
