Absolutely AWFUL! Called for dryer vent cleaning. Came promptly and after that everything went downhill. Quick talked about all that was wrong with my dryer vent, and charged $850 for work that took less than an hour & replacement of no more than 12 feet of vent. Drove away and garage door would not shut, (Dryer in garage next to door) called him about it; came back reluctantly. Continued to deny any responsibility even though the issue was clearly caused disturbing the sensor - admittedly easily done in small space. Left still blaming all on me. Worked with a friend and finally got it working properly. Next morning put a load in dryer & it sounded like it was tumbling rocks! Never had this relatively new dryer been anything but quiet. Called company and left message. Then called technician who yelled at me saying it was the machine, could not have been him. "Never touched inside of dryer. Only the back." Simply not true. Not sure what is wrong. But no satisfaction. And to top it off, paid with Zelle to get a $50 discount over credit card, so no way to dispute charges. I've NEVER worked with such a disreputable company - overcharged after saying they were giving me a $400 break on usual charges, non- responsive, denies responsibility for issues related to their work, and unbelievably RUDE. read more

Worst plumbers i have ever encountered. The service person Alex told me lies and refused to verify valves weren't working and even his supervisor backed him up. Example of blatant lie: he said the sacrificial anode on your water heater should be replaced annually. I check with Rheem and they said every 3 years it should be verified. I questioned Alex on it and he doubled down by saying it should really get checked every 6 months. This is just one example. I will not have then step inside a house again! read more

Been with them 6 years out of that six years I used them maybe 3 times. I asked for a recall. Recall is within 30 days. Should be 90 days at least. But what ever. I asked for them to send the company back. And they said they were going to charge me $75 dollars it was just a few days over the 30 days. So no way. If I could give them a 0 star I would. Their service was horrible, I was with AHS &' they sent over a plumber to fix a clogged drain. He couldn't find the clean out drains after only looking for 7 minutes. Took my $100 service fee for him to come out & never came back. I have zero knowledge on plumbing so I googled what a "clean out drain" looked like & I found it in under 10 minutes in the most obvious place, under the kitchen sink &' the main clean out drain on the side of the house. I had AHS come to my business to check my fridge. He said there was a leak but all he did was added more coolant instead of fixing the real problem. Called him back 3 months later and more coolant was added. When he was here he made me stand 12 feet from him otherwise he wouldn't enter the building. I've been in Vegas for 3 months and essentially every appliance in my house has broken during that time... yes, bad luck I know. On the good side, I've only been here for 3 months and I've already found the best appliance guys in town. Honest, quick and thorough service at a reasonable price (made more reasonable if you tell them you saw their ad on Craigslist, which saves you 10% on your service charge). Perhaps best of all, one of their techs told me what I needed to do, and then told me how easy it was and that I'd probably save a lot of money buying the part online and doing it myself -- now THAT is integrity, the kind of iIntegrity that is sadly missing from most of our society. In my opinion, the technician I had experience with was very rude, talked over me, and worst of all he did not solve my problem. The receptionist was also very unprofessional and thought she could diagnose the problem over the telephone. After replacing our ice maker, the technician assumed it was because the water line to the ice maker was frozen...despite the fact that it had produced approximately 12 ice cubes. He told us to let the refrigerator defrost for 24 hours. After scattering to find somewhere to go with all of my food, we let it defrost. After that didn't work, the receptionist told us, it had to defrost for 48 hours and the technician was wrong??? So after defrosting now for 48 hours, still no ice. Surprise, Surprise...they contradict themselves and don't have a clue what they are doing. Avoid all the problems, and go somewhere else. I called their number a little after 8am on a Saturday morning and Tom was at the house in just over an hour. He was able to repair the fridge quickly and at a reasonable cost. American Home Shield assigned American home service as my contractor for a broken faucet. When they came to fix the faucet and I use the word fix very lightly not only did they not investigate the source of the leak from the hose that was attached to the faucet head they said the faucet was missing parts and it wasn't covered under the warranty because a washer that cost five cents between the head and the hose was not in the faucet. Obviously I checked that before spending $100 on this service and I also still had the washer. My washer or any washer could have been retrieved from the techs truck or my garage because that's where I put it although I wasn't home and the hundred dollar deductible could've at least been somewhat worth it but because the contractor didn't want to cooperate and do his simple job of putting a five cent washer in a faucet that I had the $100 service call deductible charged for this was a waste of money. For entertainment value I told a customer service rep from American home service that I shouldn't have to feel like I need to block the door or force the contractor to perform the prescribed work when I paid $100 for nothing. Of course he felt provoked and told me you should never do that, and then I told him well I shouldn't feel like I need to, but the level of service provided made it come to that. I ended on a positive and said maybe if your company could earn a good reputation you'd get a lot more repeat business and would be unlikely to be dropped by American Home Shield for repeated poor customer satisfaction. American Home Shield did a good job and reassigned a different contractor who took my washer and had washers of their own and would not have had a problem doing the job they were paid to do to my satisfaction. I don't think I was asking a lot here. I don't know how big of rape artists american home services pretend not to be, but it seems to me like this type of practice would be in place to take as many home warranty calls and perform as a little of the service as possible to max out the money they get from American Home Shield at the expense of the customer, which is bad for American home shields mediocre reputation because they also overcharge , but they are hit or miss with contractor quality. In the end American home service ought to be dropped by American Home Shield and they will continue to have a very poor reputation as evidenced by situations like this. read more

This is the second time AHS has made a house call and I felt inclined to write a review about my lovely experiences. Appliance repairs are inconvenient at best, but these guys make it quick, painless, and affordable. The main phone number connects to a friendly and knowledgeable dispatcher who schedules your repair to be completed within a few days. There's a $39 house call but that's waived if you hire them to do the work. They fixed my washer, dryer, oven and dishwasher (basically I live in the house of dysfunctional appliances), all for much les than expected. DO NOT Book with AHS - Boulder City, NV Summary: My home warranty company assigned them to look at my dishwasher which has been acting up. Here are the issues that arose: (1) They never reached out to schedule an appointment. I called after 2.5 days and they were, surprisingly, able to schedule for the very next day (so why hadn't they called me yet?). At that time I provided them with my direct contact # for the service call as my warranty company had provided them my wife's #. I spoke to Amy on that day. (2) On the day of service, I called and spoke to Amy again who advised me the technician was completing another job nearby (in my Henderson GVR neighborhood according to her...about 5 min away) and would be dropping by...I advised her that I would be at home, but to have the tech call me when on the way (3) 40 minutes after the call with Amy, the Technician called my wife's number, NOT MINE as instructed. He leaves a VM stating that since there is no answer, we would have to re-schedule (4) My wife returns the call 4-5 min after the VM and the tech says that he is already en route to Boulder City on another call...excuse me? So rather than drive 5 minutes to my home which was within the same neighborhood knowing that someone is at home, the tech decides to drive to Boulder City from Henderson immediately? If you review Mark D.'s posting, you will see that they did the same thing to him...made no effort to arrive as scheduled, but rather diverted their efforts when their call went unanswered. He too lives in Henderson. POOR customer service. This AHS franchise schedules runs to Henderson out of their HQ in Boulder City and it is clear the techs are looking to get back to BC ASAP for their convenience, not the customer's convenience. My advice, improve your customer service practices, better align your communications between dispatch personnel & field techs, and don't schedule calls in Henderson if the techs are not committed to servicing the area responsibly & with consideration ...and stop wasting customers' time. I called my home warranty company and they logged two negative remarks for failing to schedule a timely appt. and for the lack of professionalism/consideration on follow-up. read more

I also run a service company and I understand that some jobs take longer then others and unfortunately people don't want you to give them a 4 hour window, I can understand how some people maybe get annoyed about rescheduling but there is only so much time in the day. How can you hold that over someone's head after you ruined the appliance you were here to fix? That is insane, I can't even begin to imagine what else they would try and get away with. I called this company yesterday to see if a tech can come to my home with the hopes of getting my refrigerator fixed (motherboard). I was referred by a wonderful company that did a plumbing job for me not too long ago. The woman that answered the phone asked what I needed help with, I briefly told her, she asked what part of town I stay in... when I said Mountain's Edge her demeanor (which wasn't all the way pleasant to begin with) soured... She was like "ooooohhh I don't knooooowwww... hmmmm (then an awkward pause), I don't think it's worth sending a tech that far... there has to be a lot of people getting work done in that area to justify sending someone to you... maybe call so and so, they may be able to help you". So basically my business was turned down. It's not like you offer free estimates... I planned on getting the work done but if I didn't at least the $39 fee would put gas in the guys tank... I mean you're in Boulder City, you're the one far not me. It's quite disappointing the way I was made to feel, as if I was troubling them. Smh read more

I previously wrote a review praising the technician that came to install my water heater, This is far from a praise. I have a home warranty which I question why as they don't ever seem to cover the problem. Needless to say, I contacted them and paid the $75 service fee. They assigned me to AMERICAN HOME SERVICE. The tech came to the house and told me the office would be in touch that afternoon or first thing the next morning. A woman called and informed me my out of pocket expense would be $555.00!!! What I am to do, I have to have hot water. I have a 7 year old and a hospice patient in the house. Because I have a water softener, I am required by the city to have an expansion tank. Available at Lowes or Home Depot for $49. American Home Service $225.00! I also had to have new duct work? This hot water heater was replaced four years ago and the company that installed it never said a word about an expansion tank or duct work. Questioned the city and this is NOT a code and their inspector came out to inspect the last water heater. This is also the FIRST company to NOT apply the $75.00 I originally paid for a service call to my out of pocket expense. Had I not used the warranty company, a service call is $39. Finally, I told them on the phone prior to install that I would be disposing the old tank myself. They charged me $55 for disposal!!! I did receive an email today that they will credit the $55 back but what about the $75 and the excessive charge for an expansion tank? What happened to doing the right thing in these uncertain terms instead of gouging a single Dad on unemployment! read more

Highly recommend for any and all appliance repairs! Two days before Thanksgiving I decided to clean our wall ovens. Perfect timing for the thermal fuse to blow. I found AHS on here and hoped for the best. The dispatcher was very kind. Great customer service and was able to schedule a technician for the next day between 12-3. By 12:15 the technician, Tom, called to say he was on his way. By 1:15 our ovens were fixed. Tom was very professional, friendly, and most importantly, knowledgable. He left our home spotless. It has been three weeks and no one has shown up to fix my dish washer. Two workers showed initially they were very friendly said they would be back friday. They never showed. So I called. When they do answer the phone the lady on the phone is not very friendly. She seems fake. After I became frustrated with her saying this is $#!++y you didnt show up for 3 appointments. She acted like she never heard the word before and became overly offended and said I wont be helping you. Well Karen let's call her Karen. You never showed up so this is a step up from waiting for someone that wont show. I was scheduled 3 different times and they didnt show any of the appointments. I was polite the first 2 no shows. This last time her excuse was I didnt answer the phone. I work nights and no one told me there is a company policy I need to answer a call for you to show up to scheduled job. I have two hot water heaters that are leaking. I called my home warranty company that sent out American Home Services. The tech nor I could determined which of the side by side water heaters were leaking. Due to their age it was determined that they both needed to be replaced. Three days later the home warranty company called me with my out of pocket expenses, some of which I questioned. They told me I would need to speak to the tech when they came to do the work. They repair company called me to collect my out of pocket cost. I started asking questions as I have recently replace a hot water heater at my house in Texas and explained these cost did not follow the costed I had just paid. The Supervisor Justin got upset with me asking questions and offered a 10% military discount. I said that would be great but I still needed him to explain the differences in cost and prices to the water heater I just had replace at my other house. He then said he did not feel comfortable doing the work and I would need my home warranty company to send out a company for a second opinion. I explained that would be nice but that would take time and I was afraid the water leaking would cause more damage tot the house and when could they just come replace the water heaters. Justin then said he would not send out a tech and they would not do any work at my home. HE absolutely refused to replace my water heaters because I asked questions about their pricing. This action from a company that is above board make no since and makes me have even more questions to their honesty. I will never have this company come to my house again and if I have anything else that needs repairs I will make sure my home warranty company does not send them. I have also reported their behavior to my home warranty company and have asked them to request a copy of the call I had with them as they said it was recorded so they can use the information to drop them from repairs to any of the home warranty company customers. homeowners be afraid of American home service. read more
