We've been going to this place for years even when they were in Escondido and have had the best service. I've had plants living off the same soil and doing well without adding much. The best part is now, they allow you to bring in a large trashcan about 20 gallons or so and fill it up if you don't have a truck. Super fair pricing. A lot cheaper than Home Depot or Lowe's especially if you're getting into gardening and want really good soil that has been tested. They also sell worm castings, calcium, coco coir and other really nice additives for your soil. They are in the process of creating a soil for a house plants that reduces the house flies/fungus gnats if I remember correctly. This is the only place I will ever go for soil or other garden needs that I can get there.

Yes, Marty is a bit quirky and there is no signage indicating where the business is (look for the black mailbox marked 2727) but he is very knowledgeable and has a large variety of plants and trees. I was looking for podocarpus trees which Marty had posted on Craigslist. I didn't realize his business was by appointment only, but he graciously helped me anyway. Since Marty is a grower, he picked out 8 beautiful and well-matched trees from his stock and helped me load them. If you can't find what you are looking for, give Marty a call.

I was expecting the store to be open, as per their schedule, but…read moreit was not, and I felt a bit like in a wild area to be discovered where no one controls who enter the premises (which is good, people are working cutting trees and doing chores and they let you be there taking pictures or just enjoying the nature). I liked this wild component and especially the parrots. They were fun, I was talking more than them and sometimes it was almost impossible to have a conversation with them. I think they understand Spanish better, so we exchange some greetings in my native language;). Lots of greenery but, as others have commented, a bit on the rundown side. There was a food truck which was a nice touch. Parking was easy at the corner, although it is easy to miss. I will go back, is a different kind of nursery I would say.
