What a SUPER fun and welcoming Legion! We loved it here. I called earlier to see what their hours were and the bartender Amy was so friendly. She also confirmed they do the American Legion post license plate exchanges as I had one from my IL post. She said it was Jam Night (!) and $2 hot dogs and other specials. It was so close to our cottage rental that we walked there and were pleased to find a cute little building decorated with patriotic symbols. We loved the beer can display outside in the shape of an American flag. So neat! Inside there were some lovely memorials dedicated to our fallen servicemen and women. The tributes were very touching. Cute little bar with cheap drinks and friendly locals. Outside were people jamming with all kinds of musical instruments in this little open area outside. It is a nice place to chill. If it weren't for the blasted biting bugs we would have stayed longer. A very enjoyable place and everyone is so nice here. read more

Not sure if this is every weekend but it is a great outdoor venue! They have a brick dance floor under a big light tree and a music shell for the band. Inside is where drinks can be bought and on the side a grill of hot dogs and sausage. Everyone seem happy to be here and dancing to the tunes! This is the most happening American Legions I ever been too. read more

They sell Dinners for $10 be careful our Chicken was bad had a foul smell. Was told we would get a credit. Plenty off places to get a meal for a few bucks more and have fresh meal. read more

I wanted someplace that my Dad would have loved . He is a retired Army veteran interred in Arlington Cemetery and I remembered as a child being brought to places like the posts and Rod and gun Clubs. He would drink with his buddies and my brother and I would run off to play with the quarters for pinball machines and stuff. Having shared that, this is not kid friendly as it just does not have play areas for the kids. It was fun to walk in an hear the local banter of these seasoned men busting their friends balls and the interplay between the lady bartenders. I stayed for a few drinks and satisfied my walk down memory lane regarding my Dad. It's ust a good place to hang out and not get killed on the drink prices. There is a patio area with picnic tables and such. The night I was there there was karaoke. From there went to Sharkys (definitely a "locals" joint. That is for another review but it was great for different reasons. I travel a lot for my business so I am in alot of places. Had the best meal in a long time there. Building isn't much to look at and they need better signage - but the hunt is so worth it.. Wow the food was great and the prices more than fair. Five star food at the local watering hole with atmosphere, who would think it possible? The she crab soup is good enough folks drive from Jacksonville just to have it. I had the tuna tacos, wow! We loved the REAL fresh conch appetizer as well. Nothing bad to say about this place at all. Off the beaten path you find a real hole in the wall with the best food. This is where Chef Todd from Calypso's has landed. You don't go here for the atmosphere but the food is certainly worth the ride. The she crab soup will keep you coming back, there is none other like it! All of the fish is fresh and delicious. This is definitely worth seeking out! read more

Came down to key largo to camp for a night while visiting my girlfriends family. My girlfriend and I would consider ourselves amateur foodies and love to find the tiny hole in the wall independent local joints. We found the place just by driving around. The atmosphere is so relaxed and has the tropical key vibe with picnic bench tables under big shady trees. To start we ordered the calamari. It came out in a large basket big enough for 4 people to split, perfectly battered, light and crusty, with well balanced seasoning and a delicious remulade on the side. We split the 300 lb club sandwich which had bacon a fried egg and the most flavorful smoked pulled pork I've ever had, with a ridiculously large smoke ring and that melty peel apart tenderness. The menu said it was smoked for 18 hrs!!! Our only criticisms is (from my health conscience gf) the calamari was slightly oily, probably from the foil lined basket, but so tastie she ate half the order with no complaint. As for me, a beer geek, I would of liked to see more of a beer selection, they did have Sam Adams and big wave from kona brewery, but I understand it is a American legion.
