Attention to detail, breakfast options delivered to room, kind staff, all around amazing! There is a sign on the bed that says to remove bedding before lying on it. When I did, I was bombarded with the scent of Tide. They did offer us another room and offered for the owner to bring in other sheets. When we got to the second room smelled of the chemical laundry soap upon entry. They graciously refunded our room. I was very disappointed we didn't get to experience this place. The one star is because when I complained, the clerk said they use the scented laundry soapbecause of complaints of unscented sheets. Those who are allergic/sensitive can't use them, while people that just like it can go without the smell without physical consequences. There is just no reason to subject people to those chemicals just because some people like the fake smell. There are completely serious about the 4:00 check in and charge hourly to check in early, but you have to book that ahead of time. Breakfast isn't served until 9:30 AM at the earliest. Coffee in room, but no real cream, just fake stuff.

So far we've stayed in the Peacock, Teal, Latte and French Country rooms. Once, we came with my parents , and we shared the Lyon House across the street. Each time, we have loved our visit. The hospitality is fantastic-I always feel like I'm staying with a great aunt that loves to take care of her family. Really, it's that good. We have done the Dine and Unwind package, which includes a delicious dinner and a couples' massage. Best experience ever! If you're looking for a special getaway, be sure to consider this. The property itself has a lot of history-be sure to save some time to talk to Craig and Vicky about it's past. If you're looking to host an event, the upstairs area is perfect for that too!

One of the best decisions I've made in a long time. It's set in an old church that's been renovated to have five rooms in the lower level, and we stayed in the King room. The first thing they said when we walked in was feel free to explore and make yourselves at home which we totally did. Vicki and her husband Craig were great and they took care of us even making us a nice breakfast in the morning before we headed out. Would definitely recommend staying here.

We usually stay right in Lava, but after looking up The Harkness, I knew immediately that we had to stay there instead, and I am so glad we did. This is hands down the swankiest hotel I've ever found in a small town. The décor is incredibly classy, the rooms are spotless, and the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept in, and I've stayed in some pretty high-end hotels. The bedding and pillows were perfect. I usually bring my own pillow because hotel pillows are usually terrible, but I didn't need it here. Everything felt extremely clean and well cared for, and the rooms smell amazing (I don't know what they use, but it works). The bathroom was my absolute favorite--if I were to design my dream bathroom, this would be it. The tub easily fits two people, and the shower has dual rain shower heads. Pure luxury. They also provide complimentary toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion, and not the tiny bottles you get one use out of. They even include bath salts, which was such a nice touch. As others have mentioned, there's a pretty sweet coffee machine in the lobby. Don't skip it if you're a coffee drinker, you won't be disappointed. If you're planning a trip to Lava Hot Springs, stay here. Lava is only about 15 minutes down the highway, and it is 100% worth it. You will not regret it.

We had all the comforts of home yet still felt like we were stepping back in time. We were only there to sleep--had dinner before arriving and just grabbed coffee on the way out.
