You just can't beat a family owned shop. Especially with something as hefty of a purchase as a Motor home or RV. I had been looking for MONTHS for a Motor home for myself, after deciding to finally just do it, since I had been dreaming of a travelling life for years now. I looked in CA, AZ, NV, and CO for a Class C (Four Winds Majestic 23A to be exact). Over the course of my journey (and boy, was it a JOURNEY) 3 RVs I was interested in purchasing were sold to other parties almost immediately after I looked at them (COVID really up-ed RV sales). After striking out with so many Class Cs, I decided I could be more flexible in my search and noticed a Class A Motor Home online. The page linked to American Motorhome's website and I called to make an appointment to see the vessel. The day before I was schedule to go see it, I had a moment of clarity and decided I should make a deposit (Fully REFUNDABLE, BTW) to hold this one for me and called back to do so, since I'm from the Bay Area and didn't want to make the drive just to find out this one had been sold to someone else too. Even though it was a Class A and not the Class C I was originally looking for, I really loved the mix of modern and old-school in interior, the outside was freshly re-painted, and it only had 36,000 miles on it! Plus it came with a motorcycle rack AND a rack on top (which they kindly painted black for me). The vehicle didn't have that "manufactured" feel to it, since the previous owner did some upgrades on the interior, which I absolutely LOVED (whoever it was, s/he did a great job with it). The day of my appointment, I drove up to the lot and was SLIGHTLY put off at first by the scenery (the street as a whole is a bit slummy), but I put my reservations aside and walked up to the office. Lester, the owner, greeted me and I explained I had an appointment for the Fleetwood. He took me to the far corner of his lot where it was parked and as soon as I stepped inside, I KNEW this was the home I wanted. He showed me that/how everything worked and the vessel was fully functional. There are some VERY MINOR fixes I need to do, but nothing I wouldn't have expected of a used option (buying new is just a straight waste of money, especially since this is my first one). After about half an hour of checking her out, Lester asked me if I wanted to purchase her. I didn't even hesitate on my "yes". It just felt RIGHT. So we go in, (I had already done the financing with my bank, so i just needed to send my Rep the information for the Motor home and they sent a check for payment) and I sign all the paperwork. A few days later, Lester called to let me know they had received the payment and I could come pick her up anytime. I drove up with my sister that day and was signing the final paperwork for the DMV, when Lester realized he hadn't gotten the smog check done. He apologised profusely and said if I would be kind enough to wait for him to go get the smog check done, he would fill up the Motor home gas tank, the propane tank, AND MY SISTER'S gas tank. I (of course) had no problem with this at all. So once everything was done, I signed the final papers and drove off with my new (to me) Delilah! I can't thank Lester and the team at American Motorhomes enough. I've heard horror stories from other people who purchased from the big corporate RV companies (Not ganna name, but you know who) and was TERRIFIED that would be my experience. Not with American Motorhomes. Their team actually CARES about you, what they do, and the quality of their products. I drove Delilah out to LA and back this weekend and she had ZERO issues. THIS IS ONE OF THE TOP 3 PURCHASES I HAVE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE SO FAR. So, with all that, All I can say to Lester and his team is THANK YOU ALL so much for the BEST RV buying experience I could have asked for. It was easy, quick, and I genuinely enjoyed the process. Lester is and his girlfriend are very charming and good salespersons but it stops there. I apologize for waiting so long to make this review but I don't use my RV regularly so it took some driving and numerous repairs to come to my conclusion. First of all he guaranteed that the garage just down the street completed a 102 point inspection, not true within two days of taking delivery I discovered a half dozen problems, he did agree to address them and fixed most but though he bragged about his crack staff they couldn't figure out how to make the tv work and they replace a leaking ram that still leaks worst of all just before I was to go on a east coast journey I had it inspected only to find I needed all three batteries replaced, all six tires replaced, and all four brakes were in such bad shape they crumbled in the mechanic's hands. Since my purchase I have invested close to $5000.00 in repairs. Add all this up and it makes them liars. Now what they are good at is cosmetics, the rv was as clean as a whistle, paint and graphics cleaned up and spit shined to a lovely sheen, which brings me back to what a conman he is, I recommend you buy elsewhere. read more

My husband and I are ready to start enjoying life. We started looking for a Class A Diesel motorhome to start traveling. This place, American Motorhome, had one we were interested in so we drove from Concord to Sacramento one Saturday. We looked the motorhome over, we couldn't try anything out because all the batteries were dead but we were told if we went to have lunch and come back that they would get it started. When we came back it was in fact turned on. It had some cosmetic problems but we thought it would be a fun project. We gave them a deposit and asked to come back the next weekend with a mechanic and to drive it. We were told that was fine. The next weekend my husband and the mechanic checked everything out, minor problems but nothing that would make us walk away from the deal. They promised new batteries, new tires, to fix the major problems, all of that was fine. They gave us a list of banks to get financing through and we did call and got approved, However, then things get strange.....The secretary called to tell my husband that they could only hold a deposit for 1 week. She would have to refund him and then recharge a new deposit. He said OK. They did return our deposit, but did not charge a new deposit. And now they are totally ghosting us. They will not answer the phone when we call. If we call from another number they say we have to talk to Lester. Lester says he has to talk to his brother??? If they do not want to sell us anything they should say so. The rig is still up on their website.( 2004 Monaco CAMELOT 40PST) Please feel free to call them and ask why they won't sell it to us. I have no idea at this time. We just want to know what the problem is. Well, our vacation is coming up soon, we were supposed to hit the road on April 29th. We are looking elsewhere now but we waisted 4 weeks waiting on Lester to get his sh!t together. Please beware of this place. I think they make their $$$ doing some other business because there is no way they sell enough RV's there to keep the lights on. They had put on new tires, and the shimmy never went away after several wheel balancing but a truck repair shop. This is our first Motor home purchase and we came to the right place. Rich was honest, upfront and full of knowledge. We had a budget and he worked with us and made it happen, we are now the proud owners of a 2006 Fleetwood Jamboree. When we picked up the RV we had a thorough walk through - explaining and demonstrating how everything worked. John did the walk through - he was patient and answered all of our questions. This was the worst experience I think i have had trying to purchase a product. The sales staff was pushy arrogant saying that i had to purchase before I could test drive. Most products on this lot were damaged by dry rot. I was told that missing equipment was not significant. DO NOT PURCHASE EQUIPMENT OR DO BUSINESS HERE. I had been to many rv dealers looking for the right one. I dropped in to American Motorhome and started talking to Rich. He was polite, knowledgeable and professional. I had to go there several times before I settled on the motorhome I ended up with. There no pressure buy, just practical advice that I needed. Stereo typical used lot dealer and owner like if you can imagine a episode of married with children and the old guy is Al's best friend and the owner they both pull pranks on behind his back cuz he gets all the younger chicks that he hires for more money than the old used up used motor home dealer makes First my husband is through and did not want to spend 30,000.00 dollars and have it still be only a 1999 and when we bought they promised all kinds of stuff. Did not even get an owner manual, you think they would spend five bucks to make sure each coach had one all the promises where made by all's friends ! Not only does the old guy pushing the scrap( that won't be worth even half (even if brand new)what you pay for it, the min. it leaves the lot ))do a dam thing but the one place my husband was not allowed to inspect was the roof they cried liability reasons well now come to find out THERE IS A HOLE IN THE FING ROOF !!! Rich, Chester --- I hope your guna get what you got coming !!! Not a single key was matched to the over 15 they gave us.. promising to pay for a locksmith... which never happened!. We have been searching for a used motorhome and found one at American Motorhome in Sacramento on El Camino in Sacramento. We asked to test drive the vehicle and was told we had commit to buy before test driving it, a bit odd we thought. When we asked about missing equipment, tried negotiating the price the sales woman became very agitated, unprofessional, literally pushed my friend out the way and became very angry and asked us to leave, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Put a down payment on 2/10/18.Was told by Sales manager it would take about 15 days to get coach inspected and anything fixed that needs repaired. On 2/24/18 Picked up RV .Was told by another sales person that they fixed everything that needed to be fixed. On the road driving it home we were hearing all kinds of noises so when we got home my husband and I started inspecting RV. Found a lot of screws loose and other stuff that was wrong .Called Sale Manager who told us to bring RV down they would fix everything on our list no problem .All of March we had our RV parked due to illness my husband had. So 3/30/18 we dropped our RV off to them while we went on vacation.4/12/18 .We got home RV still was being worked on but the microwave didn't work so we allowed them to use our warranty we purchased from a third party to fix microwave and they paid the deductible. On 4/28/18 was told RV is ready to be picked up and everything was fixed. Got home first thing trim from microwave was on floor then I lifted up couch and noticed rat poop everywhere. I think a rat got in through a hole that was addressed at purchase and told it would be fixed .They told us again to bring it back and they would fix everything on our list they did not fix the first 2 times.5/5/18 took the RV back to dealer to go over it again .Found out the rat had chewed the water lines. Was told by Sale Manager they would fix the water lines after arguing back and forth on where rat came from. I told them if it was fixed the first time we would not have a rat issue. At the end of May get a call from from Service guy saying he has to take the cabinets apart to put new water line in and Sale Manager says he is not dealing with it anymore tried to use the saying you bought it as is. So to get our motor home home and be done with this place we agreed to pay 4 hrs worth of work .Picked up motor home on 6/2/18.I noticed a rail to a drawer I asked what is this I was told it was a spare part but when we got home the supposedly spark part was not a spare it goes to my drawer that I now have to fix it.When you sign contract and find out it cost you the $ 695.00 for the inspection and repairs believe me not worth it if you keep having to go back to get it done right. Purchased a MH from here. I mentioned i was going to remove the dinette and move the sofa. They said they would do the work for free if they got the dinette. They moved the sofa, but not the seat belts, left a 6 inch ledge in front of the sofa to trip over and didn't cover the holes from the original bolts. Closet door fell off the first time I opened it and my daughter couldn't get out of the shower. Basically their "repairs" were worthless. First time out, the battery wouldn't hold a charge. It charges if you run the engine, but not the generator. Also, shower valve leaks and so does the toilet. Will be paying to have Camping world fix everything. read more

Compared to most the prices seemed too good to be true and since that usually means they are too good to be true we decided to look closer to home first (we live in the bay area). After visiting many dealers in the bay area and central valley, we found a MH we liked and made an offer at another dealer with the inevitable and annoying sales back and forth, and "we are losing money here" and "this is an as is sale" we did not make the purchase and decided we might as well drive to Sacramento. We are so glad we did, contrary to the other reviews I read, the experience was fantastic! This is the worst company and they are complete liars. They sold us a used RV, and promised that they checked it out. Yet, every time we used it parts would break. We were on a tight budget, and only bought this RV because the shop promised us they they looked it over. The odd part was that they asked us to pay cash and never gave us any paper stating that we bought "as is", which we learned later about. They also told us they were not selling it from their shop, but as a favor. It was a consignment deal and so we didn't get what they were saying. They made money off of it. This was our first Rv. After the battery failing, all the tires blowing out, brakes catching in fire, and replacing the generator, the RV brakes still failed. We finally asked them of we could trade the RV, upgrade, at their shop because we didn't want to put anymore money into this RV. we put in 3000.00 more. The owner will say yes to a deal, talk specifics, and show you RV's but then once you pick the one you like and test drive it, Lester will say the deal is impossible. Even though, he set the deal, and try to trade you for a worse RV. We explained the RV was not safe and he said he couldn't sell an unsafe RV, yet he sold us this unsafe one. We tried and tried to work out any deal,but Lester would not make any deals work. We finally bought an RV somewhere else and are stuck with this RV, that is unsafe and he knows it. He knowingly sold us a bad RV, unsafe one and then did not honor is word to make things right. Never ever use this company!! read more

I have been looking for a motor home through multiple sources. I was referred to American Motor Home and another business as both being very honest and reputable. My first stop was American Motor Home. I found a motor home I really liked, but was not able to meet on the price. I went home and shortly received a call from Lester at American telling me a unit came in an hour after I left that I might like. Returned the next day and placed a deposit on it pending approval of the repairs and cleaning agreed to. They did a beautiful job and everything was in order as agreed. After taking the coach home, I found some additional issues we had not addressed. They requested I bring it back and they would take care of it, which they did. This was an as-is-sale and they did not have to do additional work for me after I took it home. I would recommend this company to anyone, and if I ever purchase another motor home, I will go to Lester at American Motor Home in Sacramento first. read more
