I was told that it was going to be a 2-4 week turn around. Well clearly it wasn't. I was also told that they would call me to get approval to order any parts, that never happened. They just went ahead and ordered them. They also sent my gun off to another gunsmith without my consent. It's extremely hard to get ahold of any of the staff here and they seem to always be on vacation. So let's just say there is barely any communication going on. I was told my gun was finally done via a email and that he would be in contact with me after lunch that never happened. So I decided to pick it up the next day during business hours. Well they decided to close early that day I guess. I finally had to threaten to contact the ATF to get my firearm back and bam I got it back. $200 later my firearm is still broken. So pretty much this was a huge waste of time and money. I do t recommend doing any business with this company. read more

Went to Merlyn Rifleworks for some help with my Para Ordinance LDA 45 ACP. The problem I was having with my firearm was after about 50 rounds of range shooting, the gun would jam. It would either begin to have feeding problems or it would smoke stack. The gentleman at the shop was very professional and explained to me it would take him about a week(7 working days to have a diagnosis). I also gave him a box of my own ammo for him to use(Fiocchi Ammo). About three weeks later after stopping by and checking every week, he had a diagnosis for me. He said that nothing was wrong with the gun and that the problem was me. I was limp wristing the firearm. I really do not think he took the time to examine the gun for for a weak extractor, magazine spring or action spring. I truly felt insulted. I paid the man the $50.00 dollar fee to avoid any further argument over the problem. I do not recommend this gunsmith. P.S. limp wristing as the cause of smoke stacking... IS A MYTH. read more

I was referred to this place by my friend. First off the initial turn in of the weapon was great the gentlemen that helped me was very professional. The next day I called and some guy with a country accent answered by saying "yup" and I identified myself and that I was wondering when the weapon would be finished. He answerd saying "are you kidding me?". I then said "no I am not" and then gave me a sob story that he just got in and they dont open till 10. He then gave me an estimate when it would be done after he was finished with his rant. I am very disappointed. They do good work but they need to speak with their staff about how to address paying customers. I for one would not come back to this establishment and will not refer them at all. If you can deal with the lack of respect but want your weapon worked on then it's your choice. read more

This place doesn't even rate one star in my book. I took them my AR-15 so they could re barrel it with an anderson 14.5" M4 profile barrel. They did good replacing the barrel and welding on the extended flash hider --- however I had asked them to put in the standard front sight post assembly. Instead of doing that, which would have required them machining two holes to secure it, they just put a low profile gas block and called it good. They didn't call me and ask me my preference. Since they welded on the birdcage after putting that gas block in, the barrel could no longer be modified with a standard front sight assembly. So, I spent a little extra money and bought a YHM folding front sight / gas black. They installed it --- but it was installed crooked. I brought it back a second time and the darn thing was still crooked. Also, they didn't paint over the weld marks on my bird cage -- I had to literally request them to put some duracote on it so it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb. Poor communication, extended timelines, and lack of machining expertise. Lets just go with lack of common sense, period. read more

I had an excellent experience with these guys. I took them my saiga 308 to make the trigger more usable and get some 1911 sights on. They found solutions within my budget. The saiga came out better than I had hoped and they were able to keep the trigger in the stock position so it can stay CA compliant. The 1911 sights came out really well too. Overall I believe they did excellent work and will definitely bring any gun smithing work to them in the future. Side note, my friend would consistently jam my Glock 17 because she wasn't holding it hard enough, it's never jammed on me so it must've have been it. Talked with a Glock engineer I met and he was a little surprised by it but agreed it was because she was shooting limp wristed as he called it. read more

This place is under new ownership in 2013. Went for some work, dropped it off on a Friday, ready the next Monday. I went to pick up my order after work, and they were close to closing. I called them up, let them know I was on my way, and was going to arrive 10 minutes after their closing hours. They said no problem, and I picked up my order a bit after official business hours. On July 6th 2012 I brought in my Colt Sistema Model 1927 to be re-blued and to have new sights installed. The drop off went well, Dan (Owner, I think) was helpfull, we discussed the finish and the type of sights I wanted, they even showed the re-blued finish on a gun they were currently working on and it looked really nice so I left there feeling confident. They were very expensive but I figuered the high cost will warrant a really great product. 1 month later I get a call from Scott (Gunsmith) and he said he was going to start working on my gun and it should be done within a few weeks....I was originally told it would take about 2 months so it sounds like things are on schedule, "ok". 1 month later I call to follow up, i was told 2 more weeks...I said "ok". Another month later 10/5/12 I call to follow up, "just doing some final details, should have by end of the week". 2 weeks later I call again, same story "by the end of the week". This went on 2 more months, I was pissed, every time I called they would make excuses and never would tell me the exact truth as to why my gun was not done. For the last month they were supposedly waiting for bushings, a $10 part that is very common and stocked every where, "were waiting for UPS, any day now" really???? Finally after many phone calls of me complaining it was finally ready. When I picked it up 12/14/12 I was very dissapointed, I decided just to take it and leave, it took them nearly 6 months to deliver below average quality work, I do not trust them to try to make it any better. The re-blued finish was horrible, there were spots all over the slide which they blamed on the gun! "those spots are in the metal, its just the way it is made" ...it was'nt like that when I brought it in! They polished it so hard that they removed allot of the original engraving. They put the wrong sights on!! I asked for NOVAK tritium night sights, unfortunately I did not know that NOVAK offers different styles of night sights for this gun, they did not bother to offer/inform me of the different options they just put on the ones that were the easiest to install. 1 week later I went to the range to test it out, after 10 rounds the rear sight was sliding off! 3 rounds later it finally fell off! Really?? Turns out they did not put lock tight on the set screw that hold the sight in place and also the sight did not fit tightly into the machined cut on the slide, it was loose and rocked back and forth. I called NOVAK and they said they can put the sight I want and machine the slide properlly for $150 and it would be done in a week! I'd rather do that than have these guys keep my gun for another 'who knows how long' and to receive more crappy craftmanship and excuses. Avoid these guys!! read more

I have to say that it amazes me that somebody could do such shotty work for me to feel obligated to go online and warn other people of it. I brought in my Mosin Nagant 91/30 along with a repro PU scope to have it drilled tapped, and mounted on my rifle. I was told it would be $180 and take about a week and a half. After about 3 weeks and no word from them I sent an email checking up on the process only to be told several days later that they had gotten a large order in and it would take an unkown amount of time longer. A few weeks later I got an email saying my gun was done but in order to mount it the stock needs inletting that he didn't charge me for, so it would be another $100. I went in to pickup the gun and was going to do the woodwork myself as I was tired of waiting. I arrived only to find out that they had mixed my order with a similar one and mounted the wrong mount with the right scope and gun so it wouldn't fit. He was closing soon and told me it would be another week. He comped the woodwork due to the wait and I finally went to pickup my gun 9 weeks after I originally brought it in. I get home only to find out that the trigger is binding up because the wood recess wasn't cut deep enough which is causing the wood to bow and jam the trigger in the stock, the mount was not loctite, all 4 of the screws were not the original and weren't even the right size or even close to how they should be, 2 washers had been wedged in between the mount and the receiver in order to give the rear screw proper clearance inside the receiver, and the elevation turret on my brand new scope is now functioning properly. I can only hope that he drilled and tapped the receiver in the right spots, but I won't even be able to figure that out until I test fire and sight the gun after I go through and fix all of the problems he created. I greatly suggest to look for your gunsmithing needs elsewhere as this business is just not inclined enough to handle something that needs delicate work and that could potentially harm you if not done properly. read more

I brought my over and under shotgun in to this place because the ejectors weren't working and the gun would not cock. When I brought it in those in the shop were commenting on what good shape the gun was in for being almost 30 years old. I gave them a complete new set of springs, new firing pins and just about every moving part in the gun; they told me it would be ready 3 weeks (They never used one single part). Three weeks later I called to check on it. The guy who answered the phone said "obviously it isn't, I haven't called you have I" Then he said "we had to order some parts and they take a while to come in, I'll call you when it is ready. A week later I received a call that the gun was ready, I drove the forty miles and when I got to the shop they handed me the gun and the invoice that said they cleaned it up and it's working fine; there was no indication of parts ordered or replaced. I opened the breach to see if the ejectors were working; nothing; I pulled the triggers to see if it was already cocked; nothing. I opened it again ejectors were still not working. I told them I brought this in because of the ejectors and the cocking. They took the gun back and I went on my way. I received a call from them later the same afternoon saying that they think they have it fixed and that he trigger guard was bent. I asked what a trigger guard would have to do with the cocking mechanism, they couldn't answer. They claimed the gun must have been dropped, There was nothing wrong with the trigger guard when I brought it in and they would not claim responsibility for the damage. It is obvious what happened. The trigger guard is held in place by a screw and a cam lock, once the screw is removed you have to rotate the guard to clear the cam lock on the other end. Once rotated the guard is easily removed. They had some inexperienced MORON working on the gun and after taking the screw out he tried to lift the guard off, when it wouldn't budge he pulled harder and bent the hell out of it. Then they called and acted as if I must have damaged it before I brought it in. Now it will cost me $175 to replace the trigger guard. I think the thing that pisses me off the most is that they think I'm as STUPID as they are! read more

It has the worse customer service ever!!!! they cant meet deadlines as promise!! never ending excuses, extremely rude over the phone, would talk over you as you try and explain your situation or as you try and ask the status of your riffle. If you want your riffles to get fixed on a timely manner so it wouldn't t ruined your hunting trips or your plans go some place else where you wont have this types of issues. read more

A classic example of over-promising and under-delivering. After disassembling and replacing 3 old parts with brand new parts, I took an antique Colt revolver to this shop for a friend of mine to have it inspected and evaluated for lock up issues and possibly more new parts. I reassembled the revolver and informed them of the new parts I installed. I was also specific and direct to even writing it on the original work order to CALL FIRST before ordering any parts, as it was not my gun. The price quoted was $95 and I was told that it would be "about a week" before they could take it apart and inspect it. I waited two weeks and dropped by to check on the progress. They told me that they had not gotten to it yet, but they would in the next couple of days.I told them it needed to be done by tuesday (4 days later) because I needed to get it back to the owner. When I arrived Tuesday, I was was told it was torn down and that they had ordered 4 parts for it that hadn't arrived yet. I informed them that they were NOT to order new parts without calling me per the original work order and I did not approve them. I told them that I wanted the gun and they gave it back to me completely unassembled in a zip-loc bag. They said that I did not tell them that, essentially callling me a liar. Remember, this was the day they promised it would be done. No phone call. No status update. When I got home, I found that their "gunsmith" had ground through a brand new cylinder stop part I paid $70.00 for and now it was in two (2) pieces! I cannot in good conscience EVER recommend this establishment. While I am sure they will write a rebuttal with yet ANOTHER excuse, if you live in the Inland Empire and recognize my name, my integrity speaks for itself. Stear clear. read more

Waste of money and waste of time! I took my grandfathers Sporterized Enfield rifle to have it cleaned and to find out what caliber it was. They charged me something like $79 for the service with they said would take a week. Well I dropped it off at the end of January 2013 and waited a week and a half and when I didn't here back I called them and they told me they haven't had time and it would be a little while longer and that they would call me. First off what does a little while longer even mean? So then I waited another two weeks still no phone call so I decided to swing by. I asked them about it and they said they were still really swamped and that they would get around to it. At this point I informed them I was moving to Idaho in April and that it needed to get done. Long story short I moved to Idaho in April they never told me the caliber, they would only give me the gun back after I paid, they said they were only able to clean it. But, that was also a lie because when I got home I cleaned it myself and it was clearly not even touched for the 3 months that it sat in their shop. I live in Idaho now and it has been a year since this happened, but I am going shooting right now and this horrible experience came to memory so I thought I would warn others. Stay away from this place. Oh p.s. the old ex-military guy is extremely rude and unhelpful and WORST COSTUMER SERVICE EVER!!! read more

if you value your gun do not take it here they are not worth a shit they took my gun and did not due what they said they would. as a matter of fact they never finished my gun they gave it back to me in a bunch of pieces with extra parts and kept my mag tube and yes they were very rude I would not refer anyone to them and i am not sure if their gunsmith is licensed they don't" do the work in house they send it elsewhere. read more
