Nothing was broken, damaged, or missing. The move into my new space was just as smooth as the move out of my old one. They carefully followed all of the building's rules for elevator use, placed furniture exactly where I requested, and neatly stacked boxes in the appropriate rooms. What impressed me most was their professionalism and attention to detail. They communicated clearly throughout the process, regularly checked to make sure I didn't have any questions, and truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right. Before leaving, they removed all of the packing materials they had used and left both my old and new homes clean and tidy. The entire move stayed on schedule and was remarkably efficient. I honestly could not have been happier with how smoothly everything went. Almost $1,200 , and from the very first pickup (less than a two‑minute drive, with items already packed), the nightmare began. The contents were tied to an eviction, and the rightful owner desperately needed access to essentials--credit card, cash, and medicine. Smooth Move held those items hostage for over a week, forcing needless suffering just to retrieve basic necessities. And as if the humiliation of their "facility" wasn't enough, they capped it off by overbilling my credit card just under $200. That's not just incompetence--it's exploitation. Smooth Move isn't a storage company. It's a scam dressed up as service, a disgusting office space pretending to be legitimate. Save yourself the agony: avoid them at all costs.

Would not recommend - it's a good value (cheapest movers we found), but you get what you pay for…read more Very poor customer service. I spoke to Kareem on multiple occasions prior to the move. He kept asking me to change our pickup day and time. Each time I told him I couldn't change my plans. He could have simply told me it didn't work for them, but each time he'd say OK and I would confirm the day, time, and location of pickup at the end of the conversation. Then the next day he'd ask me to change it up again. When the day finally arrived, he texted me at 6:45 am and told me they were going to be almost 3 hours earlier than the scheduled time. Again, at no point did he disclose there was a pickup window. He had confirmed our appointment on multiple occasions. It almost ruined the whole process because we were picking up our item from friends, so I couldn't just randomly change the plan with no notice. Kareem was rude to me on the phone when I called him about this and said "things change". Then he billed me an invoice for our balance due before the job was done and texted me about payment. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

They moved so quickly with care and accuracy. Most importantly, all my kitchen appliances were wrapped with care and delivered and arrived to my new apartment in the same condition. Before they even arrived, I got a tracking link to follow their location just like Uber, which immediately made me feel at ease. Crisanto and his crew showed up right on time and were incredible. They worked quickly but carefully, wrapping all of my furniture and somehow managing three giant mirrors without a single issue. Not one complaint and not one moment of stress. What really stood out was how above and beyond they went. They helped me figure out which part of my couch would actually fit in my space, laid out my rugs, and organized everything so I could still move around my studio comfortably. Also shoutout to one of the crew members who was on his first day. You truly could not tell. The whole team was professional, efficient, and just genuinely great to work with. Moving day can be stressful and not having a well planned estimate will cause issues…read more We were quoted $1,300 - $1500 for two men and a half day. We were asked to send pictures of all our items so they can fine-tune the estimate and make sure they are properly prepared to meet the customers' needs. We followed their request and sent pictures of EVERY item to be moved. Subsequent to sending the pictures the estimator said that after reviewing the photos he would like to add an additional man and increase the time based on his review of the photos. Their proposal was increased slightly ($1,500 - $1,700) (we had no issues with the request), and we awaited their arrival on moving day. Moving day came the workers on the truck were very nice. However mid-way through moving things went south fast. The workers broke an expensive glass bar cart and called to inform their home office. The original estimator then called to say we had more stuff than anticipated and the truck was full. The stuff was exactly what was in the one dozen photos sent two weeks prior to the move. These photos contained all the furniture and all of boxes that we had packed for the move. He then proceeded to state that we "didn't inform them there were boxes to move" (a complete lie). We calmly said two of the pictures sent to you (which the workers on site actually had on their cell phones) have a stack of boxes in the family room and another from the garage. He said well, "people move their boxes themselves sometimes'". Our response was simply questioning why we would have sent the pictures, at their request, if we intended to move them on our own. After arriving at 11:05 and deciding they were done at 5:30 sharp, the movers left over 20% of the remaining contents. They said they needed to move what they have in the truck and "they would come back the next day", but we would be getting another quote for the remaining move. When I questioned the additional quote the gentleman from the home office then revised it talk track to say he would not be able to insure he could come back tomorrow (Saturday, knowing the house was being sold) and stated and he would do it in 3 days (past the date of the house being sold) but the quote had to be signed to get on a possible schedule. He carried on saying "couldn't disrupt his clients already on tomorrows schedule". I guess its OK to disrupt a client by leaving 20% of the job behind. His quote for completing the move arrived the next day and the move would now be almost double the original price! Needless to say we quickly found an honest and reputable company for less than 1/2 of the additional quote from Two Movers. Two days later they sent a final bill for $800.00 more than his revised estimate, bringing the total moving cost to more than twice their original estimated when added to the additional mover we had to hire. We informed them of their error in number of hours billed, and reminded them they didn't complete the job, and that they broke the bar cart. Their response was that the bar cart isn't covered as they were not specifically informed of it in the move list, but they would give me $50.00 for it even though it was included in the pictures we had sent which prompted them to increase the original estimate. They said any items not specifically "written" on the contact were not their liability! The reality is they received pictures of all the items being moved, they double checked those photos well enough to increase the estimate to include an additional man. While we hope for a fair resolution that accurately accounts for actual hours worked and the damage to the property they caused, we have so far not heard back from them revising their billing or received any apology for the distasteful experience Update : The owner called apologized for the stress and miscommunications and we settled on a fair amount for the work they did The owner was very nice and concerned about our experience and perception of his office staff because it's not what the majority of his customers experience according to him My advice ask a lot of questions and list as many of your bigger or more expensive/delicate items upfront so you can openly discuss how they will be handled. Ask about travel timing billing and supplemental insurance for your property

The full job would have been $400 for about 15 minutes of labor. When I objected, the work was already partially done, which is exactly how this pricing model works: by the time you understand what you're being charged, items are already at the road and you're negotiating from a losing position. Here's what I want every potential customer to understand: their pricing is based on volume, not effort. A bulky item that could be dismantled into a small pile in five minutes gets billed as a full bulky item. Dismantling furniture is trivial for a company that does this all day -- but they will not volunteer to do it, because bulk is how they charge you more. Before you book them or anyone like them: Ask if any item can be dismantled -- then do it yourself first. A disassembled bed frame or desk costs a fraction of an intact one. Get the total price in writing before a single item is touched. Do not let work begin on a verbal ballpark. Get quotes from 1-800-GOT-JUNK, local independent haulers, or your town's bulk pickup -- many municipalities take furniture at the curb for free or a small fee. I later called to discuss the charge and never received a call back, which tells you how much they value customers after the credit card clears. $265 for 10 minutes. Do the math on that hourly rate and decide for yourself.

I live in Hudson Valley and was referred to American Relocators from a friend who recently used them. When I initially called I got to speak directly with a live human. The people that answered their phones sound genuine and like they really care about their company. When I asked about their Covid-19 approach to their services they put me at ease by explaining a well thought out plan of how exactly they would deliver their services in a safe manner. After hiring them, they arrived on time and everyone was wearing a mask (and I'm not talking about masks just hanging loosely around their faces, they were legitimately prepared which put me at ease.). They were quick and efficient with how they loaded everything up and their overall fees were extremely far as well. None of my walls were scratched in the process and all of my possessions were moved intact without damage. I cannot recommend American Relocators highly enough. I reached out to a few different people through Yelp and Google. A lot of the other companies were hesitant to send movers with the Virus going on. Gary was more accommodating over the phone and made me feel a little better. Anyway, I ended up using him last Thursday and overall I would recommend this company. The two guys they sent over were on time and we had a decent amount of precious items that they wrapped very diligently and made sure they were all safe in the truck. On top of that, they were outgoing and friendly and made the experience enjoyable for us. They moved us over 100 miles across state lines and got us set up in the new house all in one day. The service and communication was great throughout and he honored the original flat rate even though we ended up having more boxes than I thought. All in all, my family is happy with them! read more

We had a lot of questions about safety protocols and they gave honest, direct answers on everything. They called in the morning and let us know they were on the way. Hiring American Relocators was a great decision for us. They were able to get us a team at the time we wanted when we only scheduled a few days in advance, they showed up on time and ready to go, and the two young movers were quick and amazing. They even figured out how to get our large furniture down the spiral staircase without damaging anything (and in the case of our box springs - out over the balcony). I don't even know what we would have done without them. Over the phone, the owner was incredibly friendly and professional, and their prices are better than all the other similar-quality movers around. This company is filled with some really good people. I originally called them before I had an actual move date but wanted to get some information on logistics and pricing. I gave them all of the information for what I needed moved and my address and everything so I was ready to just call when the time was right. When I did actually call, they were able to fit into my schedule and have someone come over three days later. They were able to get all of the insurance that my building required. I called this company when I realized I was moving sort of last minute. They had some availability during the week which i was having a hard time finding elsewhere. The guy on the phone was easy to deal with and set me up for a move on the spot. He sent over 3 guys for a two story house and they worked efficiently for a couple of hours. I always want to help so I helped move a few things too and I think they appreciated that I just didn't sit there and watch the whole time. I used them to move across the country from Westchester to San Francisco. I had another company lined up and they cancelled the day before the move. I called this company and they were able to do it with one day notice and they beat the price. It was actually a lifesaver and the movers were great guys. They were carrying 3 or 4 boxes stacked on top of each other and did the move in an efficient way. It wasn't really a rush, I was just happy they were able to help us and were pleasant with my kids and nice to be around for the full day move. I don't write a lot of reviews but it was helpful at this time in our life to deal with nice people. read more

I used them for a move for my house in Westchester. The house is huge and my brother is a hoarder so there was more stuff than I even thought possible to move. The crew came in and were nice people and they worked efficiently for about three hours and got everything packed and out of the house. They gave me a flat rate over the phone and I ended up having some extra stuff that they didn't charge me for so I was happy about that. Overall, I felt like the pricing was pretty reasonable for a big house and it took less time than I expected. I normally don't really write reviews but we had an emergency move during COVID-19 and we were pretty hesitant on who to call and if it would be safe to move during this time. I called a handful of companies and American Relocators made me feel the most comfortable. The guys came over and were extremely sanitary and careful handling all of our stuff while keeping their distance from our family. They had a whole process of following best practice while also moving our stuff out of our home in Westchester to our new home in Pennsylvania. I called American Relocators at the very last minute (less than 24hrs before) after my other movers canceled on me and they were able to work me into their schedule and help me perform my move! They sent a 3 man team with a truck, which was a great size team for my move. These guys worked tirelessly, efficiently and with such a great attitude! I spoke directly with Gary and from American Relocators and he was an extremely nice man. He gave me a quote that was hourly and started from when the movers got to my house and ended when everything was moved into the second location. It was a three man crew all from out of state and they were also nice guys. They wrapped everything diligently for me and were overall very careful with my stuff. Just had these guys move us from a 1 bedroom in Hell's Kitchen to an apartment in the Lower East Side. Everything went smoothly. Gary is great. Straight shooter no BS. Sent him a few pictures of apartment/our stuff and gave us a quote that he stuck to. Showed up early the day of the move and they handled the tricky fit the couch through the door frame with ease. Don't plan to move for the next 5 years but when we do move again I will call up Gary and crew. read more
