Cheap room, you get what you pay for. Not the cleanest, dust on top of stuff and on the walls. Bathroom floors were a bit dirty. Shower was hot and no mold visible. Room smelled like cigarettes and there were cigarette burns in the bed spreads. No bugs, no signs of bugs in the room. Staff was helpful and hospitable, probably the saving grace of the place. It was cheap, and I needed a cheap room for a night. I wouldn't stay here longer than 1 night. There is a $50 cash deposit that is hidden in the fine print, I luckily happened to have cash on me. There were bugs smashed on the ceiling and the walls, the floor was not clean, there was a metallic strip near the toilet that was loose which I almost cut my foot open on. It was difficult to sleep in the room. I slept on top of the covers and left my clothes on. In the morning I wanted to shower, so I took a towel off the shelf, and it looked gray and dingy. I searched through all the towels and couldn't find one that was suitable, so I went to my car and grabbed a clean towel from my luggage. Lesson learned GROSS. read more

Gross is how I would describe it, NOT a value in any way! The place is dirty, from the lobby with its badly stained chairs to the room that looked like maybe it was swept. There was hair in the shower, hair in the sink and flies, we spent all night killing flies that came in from the huge gap in the door. We had to go to the lobby for towels and were given a crumpled pile of badly stained towels. Because they allow pets there is dog shit EVERYWHERE which isn't the hotels fault, but not word was a mentioned to me about cleaning up after my pets so I assume no one else is told either. The room was a good size for us and the dogs and the staff was super nice but that's the only positive thing I have to say. For almost $200 a night, definitely not a value in any way. read more

5th year staying here in a row. Friendly staff and manager. It's pretty quiet and secluded. Nice view of the forest when parked in the back. This check in has been our best one yet! If I could give 0 stars I would but I can't. I showed up here with my one friend and we go to check in after already paying by card, and the guy at the front desk says he needs a 50$ cash deposit. We did not have any cash so I asked if we could just get our room to drop of the two 50lb suitcases we had with us, and he said he could take us there and let us in but that he couldn't actually give us our room. Basically, it just felt so sketchy and trusting our instincts, we left and bought a new room at another hotel. When our u we driver picked us up the first thing he said was "wow you guys already are leaving the sketchy murder drug dealer inn." It was like he took the words right out of my mouth. He also said he has dropped drug dealers off their. Sketchy, unsafe, horrible, and I got all that from just going to the front desk. Stay away if you care about your safety. read more

DISGUSTING!! Do not stay here! We got there and the young kid that checked us in put me in a room that already had someone in it. Imagine the surprise I had when I opened the door and heard two dogs snarling at me. Went back and told him and he says he has no idea who is in the room! Got put into a new room and the trim around the floor was literally falling off. Stains on the bed sheets and mattress, dirty refrigerator, dirt and hair all over the bathroom floor. Didn't even take my shoes off, we called around to other hotels to find somewhere else to stay. Went back to the office and the kid said we would have to call "Brock" in the morning to get our money refunded. We called and got a rude man who hung up on us, and we're now getting charged $53. This place doesn't even deserve to get a one star rating but I had to in order to post. It cost us $80 to stay in this dump. When we walked in, the pillows did not have pillow cases on them. When I pulled back the blankets and sheets-they were filthy and had not been changed from the last visitors. There was a dead smashed roach on the wall above the television. I was so uncomfortable all night. Me and my boyfriend slept on top of the covers and left our clothes on and our bags in our car. Lesson learned-nasty. read more

When we checked in the bathroom was dirty and the cleaning people had left a dirty cleaning rag in there as a bath mat, plus the non-smoking room smelled like cigarettes. But no that was the tip of the iceberg. That night when we came back to the room and climbed into bed the nightmare began. Bed bugs! Yes bed bugs. I was bitten 25 mor more times in the span of 2 hours. The hotel is refunding my money but 4 days later it's still not back in my account. . I checked America's Best Value Hotel 1266 Hebron Road, Heath, OH 43056 on Thursday September 28th and was stunned to find the room infested with bugs. I immediately went to the front desk and spoke with Yolanda, only to be told that they were only stink bugs and I would just have to live with it because it was the season for them. I asked to be relocated and was told by the desk clerk that I would have to speak to the manager the next day, meaning, I had to sleep in the room with bugs! The next day, I spoke with the manager Kathy and was told, "no relocation". I stated I would be moving hotels, and was told "no refund". What kind of guest service is this? Red Lion is a respected brand and I assume if they put their name on another chain, that they would be held to the same standards as all Red Lion properties. Not so! I got a king size room nonsmoking however everwhere we went people had doors open setting in chairs smoking. Nice room! Went to enjoy breakfast 8am: coffee was not made and it looked as though they do not DO the continental breakfast here. Walks down to the vending machine only to find my mission pointless as they were out of order. For a few more dollars you can go down the road and get a nice breakfast at a decent Hotel for this place is worse than a truck stop and they even serve breakfast. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. As soon as we pulled up, I had a feeling that I was going to have a rough weekend. First of all, they charged me for the first night of my stay before I even checked in. When we were checking in, they took photo copies of my id and my friends' ids which has never happened anywhere that i've stayed. They informed us that there would be an extra charge if we had any visitors... weird. We finally get to our room after a 21 hour drive only to find that there were some pretty sketchy people hanging out smoking cigarettes right outside our door, who later asked if we had any weed that they could buy from us. We open the door and shut it behind us and immediately notice that the door doesn't even close all the way. The bottom of the door was disconnected from the frame, which is a very unsafe situation. The room and bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned in YEARS! It was a total nightmare. There were bugs absolutely everywhere and it was nasty. I paid over $700 to stay in an absolutely dangerous, disgusting sh**hole. I was nervous about our room getting broken into and getting bitten by bugs the whole entire time that I was there. If there had been another room available at a different place nearby I would've booked it so fast but unfortunately there wasn't! My friend had to go up to the front desk to ask for a new key and they didn't even ask her for an id or look at the photo copy of hers! Knowing that anyone could have gotten into our room with a key was terrifying! Do not stay here! Worst hotel experience EVER! Go anywhere but this place. My family of 5 had the misfortune to stay at this motel while in Ohio for a relative's wedding this past weekend. It was booked by a relative for us through Hotels.com (second time the site has let us down in the past 6 months) the day we arrived due to limited sleeping areas at the wedding venue. Let me tell you, after making a 20+ hour drive from Texas with 3 very stir crazy, sleepy kids and having slept very little yourself- the LAST thing anyone wants to deal with is a nightmare motel. The gentleman at the front desk was friendly but didn't seem to know anything about the place. The clerk the next morning seemed to be more up to speed and vowed to talked to whoever cleaned but it was more than likely because we told her to cancel our second night and why. One expects to be able to rest when they check in to a motel/hotel but for us, there was no rest to be had. This ended up causing us to be late to our family member's wedding. The rooms were barren, smelled of smoke to varying degrees, and disgusting. THREE TIMES we asked for another room before finally giving up on getting a comfortable place to sleep due to being absolutely exhausted. The second room we looked at also had broken locks on top of being disgusting. No wall decorations, dirty bedding, dirty refrigerator, filthy floors and bathrooms. A MAJOR spider infestation and (we also suspect due to my husband being bitten in the middle of the night) bed bugs. We all ended up sleeping in our clothes overnight and just showering at the venue the next morning. The beds are NOT Queens as listed on just about every travel and hotel site this place is on, they're twin sized at best. There are no cribs, no cots, no extra bedding or towels. And apparently whoever was responsible for cleaning the rooms CLEARLY had zero intent of doing their job or had given up completely on not sucking at being an adult, because the floor was so dirty that the white towels were black from one swipe. The bathtubs are so filthy that the dirt has formed a permanent pattern in the bottom. Dirty sinks and mirrors. The walls are paper thin- as evidenced by the couple loudly having sex in the next room- I'm no prude by any means and would've been loudly cheering them on had it just been me and my husband. It would've at least kept me occupied long enough to not think about how nasty the room was. But it is rather disturbing when one has their young children with them. At least the TV was great for drowning that out for the 4 or so hours that went on. No such luck once you stepped foot out the door or opened the door even slightly. It also looked as if the TV had a small camera mounted to the front which also creeped me out. The area surrounding the hotel doesn't look too bad in the daylight. It just seems the hotel itself doesn't give off the vibe of being a safe place to stay or even a place to relax. Breakfast, we were told, were the paper bag variety. Don't bother planning to eat breakfast there either. In all honesty, I have never stayed in a place that was this bad before. Not even close. It is mind boggling that this place is even open. The health department should have shut it down looooong time ago. Save yourself some time, money, and mental anguish. Don't stay at this motel. Stop off in Columbus if you need to stay overnight somewhere or try to make it to the next big city if you can. read more

Upon arrival I was greeted with a friendly and professional staff. this place is slowly being renovated as there was a dumpster full of old matresses. my room ice cold because the heat was left off. heating unit barley worked. old tube tv but at least it got AMC. This place sits on a giant carpenter ant colony. they were crawling out of the electrical sockets. thankfully my travel agent was able to cancel my reservations i had here for the entire week, otherwise I would have contracted scurvy or bed bugs. update: one of my coworkers found marijuana in his bed. we were there a total of three hours trying to figure out how to work the microwave. read more

Filthy "white" comforters that smelled bad, visible smears of dirt or who knows what on the walls and switch plates. Refrigerator was disgusting. Mold on bathroom ceiling and shower curtain. Cracks all over the drywall and tile. Had to contact three different people to get an answer regarding a late check-out request. "Free breakfast" is a packaged cinnamon roll and a Sunny D. I gave it a 1* rating since a 0* was not available. This was the worst excuse for a hotel that I've ever had the misfortune of staying at - we were in a real time crunch or we assuredly would have looked elsewhere. Their policy is to let you look at the room before they complete the registration, "just in case you don't like the condition of the room" (that should be your 'give away' folks). I've never run into THAT before! Then they wanted to see my wife's ID while I was registering - seriously? The sheets were stained; light covers and bulbs were missing; the shower curtain was stained and the tub had cigarette burns on it; our shoes literally stuck to the floor (who knows when it was last mopped!); most everything was beat up and should have been replaced or repaired years ago. What a dump! Rooms are available by the week and a handful of shady looking characters were loitering around smoking outside their rooms, which didn't make my wife or I particularly comfortable. It would have been a rip-off at half the price. I will never ever considering staying at an ABVI again. read more
