UPDATE TO OWNER'S REPLY: The "estimate" was not based on photos and the owner's outrageous response sent via Yelp FULL private message says it all (See attached response from owner and proof I sent my address). What do his business expenses have to do with his mistakes, including a "no show"? Also, the message from the owner implies other gardening companies who charge lower rates than his are non-licensed, tax-evading criminals (and yes, my current gardener who is now very sick is fully licensed, paid for his crew's licenses, and is insured). This owner Joel takes absolutely no responsibility AT ALL for his multiple mistakes. In fact, he attempted to include me in the "blame game" by using the phrase "we both have the fault". WTF?! How am I at fault when I sent my address and was home waiting for the crew to arrive? How it is my fault he allegedly went to the "wrong address" by his own admission, yet he could mysteriously send a second $190 estimate without ever coming to my property? Joel and I exchanged messages about a yard clean up for my husband's Father's Day gift. (It was what he asked for! Don't judge me!) LOL Joel was quick to reply, came out the next day, we settled on a price that I thought was on the high side, but to be honest it was a lot of work! He and his coworkers trimmed trees, hedges, replanted things that had outgrown their space to the side garden, did a bit of sprinkler tasks, fertilized the trees and hedges, and then blew and cleaned up the space. The cost was $900. There were three men and they worked for six and a half hours give or take. Their work was amazing. My husband was completely thrilled that it looked so clean and manicured and he didn't have to do it. We don't have grass and felt we didn't need monthly service, but now we are kind of hooked. I contacted Joel with America's Gardening Services through Yelp and received a prompt response with a date to check out our yard. We needed help with removing a large dead Yucca plant which lost its top in the recent storm, as well as checking our sprinklers and trimming the yard. Joel showed up promptly and he and his assistant removed the plant and planted replacements, checked sprinklers and trimmed everything in a few hours. Communication is great, fair prices and we appreciate that he was very reliable and showed up ready to complete the job. They also took away all the debris from the job including some leaves we had left by our trash cans. Add the one star from my first review to this one and I rate American's Gardening Services SIX stars! I have had a heck of a time finding someone to redo the streetscape in front of our house. Gardeners/landscapers would make an appointment, show up, pretend to be interested and disappear. Or, not show up at all. Apparently, it was too small a job for many but rudeness is never okay. I went back on Yelp and sent another request to Ameria's Gardening Services not realizing this was Joel's business. Joel replied immediately asking for my number. When he called the first thing he said was "I owe you an apology". We definitely miscommunicated the first time around and he wanted to make it right. Joel showed up on time - in fact he was early and had to wait for me - the next morning. We agreed on a price and I sent him the photos of plants we liked. Joel and Daniel arrived this morning with the plants and got right to work. Luckily, today was a good day, weather wise, so it wasn't too hot. They worked very hard and only stopped when Joel took back a few of the plants to exchange for larger ones. They cleaned up an area that I had raked but didn't get picked up and laid two bags of new top soil. They planted a new plant near the house and another along one of our fences. The heavy work came with removing seven ten-year-old African lily plants that were huge and heavy, several day lily plants and trimming/shaping two rose bushes. Joel fixed the drip system where needed, including a pipe in the backyard that had ruptured this morning. What we liked best about Joel, aside from his excellent work ethic, was his friendliness, honesty and attitude. He smiled all the time. He wasn't upset when I asked him to exchange a few plants. In fact, he did it quickly, returning with plants just the right size. The guys didn't leave until they had cleaned up everything, leaving our property cleaner than when they arrived and looking fantastic! My husband and I will not hesitate to call on Joel again if we need assistance. We highly recommend him to anyone who wants an excellent gardener with a kind demeanor and wonderful disposition. Yelp certainly led me in their direction and I am verifying the Yelp reviews...As any homeowner knows: the work is never done. Well, I did what I could and I could do no more...at least when it came to yard work! There was a massive over grown bush that we cut down as best we could, but then noticed it was growing back...nope! That among so many other things. We called America's Gardening Service (AGS) and spoke with Joel, who sent someone that day, within a couple of hours to give me a free estimate. ****SAME DAY, FREE ESTIMATE***(just in case you missed that) Eliseo came to the door in a couple of hours and gave me an estimate for the multiple jobs I needed help with. He was extremely courteous and did a thorough walk through, asked insightful questions and gave me great advice and ideas. I work with HOA's and I know pricing...after receiving my quote...on the spot...I hired AGS on the spot! They came back 2 days later with a small crew and busted out the work and did an amazing job.
