DO NOT USE ADT!!!! Service is garbage. They tell you 59.00 to come out too fix doorbell camera. I asked the ADT rep over the phone multiple times that $59.00 is the only charge. He said yes. I agreed too have tech come out. He comes out and before doing anything, tells me its going too be $230.00. I said no, thats not what the adt phone rep told me. He implies that he gets this issue alot. I call in too cancel, and speak with an Account "manager" named Mia. She promises me the world, 5 yrs locked in price of 45.00 (lowered from $65.00/month), cover camera fees, cover tech fees, discount on new cameras, no payments for 2 months,extra 10% off. I said no. Do yourself a favor and call your local alarm companies. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Just know that they can lower the price if they really wanted too but wont until you call in and speak your mind. read more

Do not recommend! If you want a home security system you're better off going with Arlo, Ring, Nest, etc. That way you're not committed to a 3 year contract and you can cancel whenever you want. Once they install the system you're ADT's problem not this third party's. If you need to cancel your appointment before install I recommend calling the customer service line for safestreets which is affiliated with ADT. They will cancel your appointment and delete your account. If you do not want the system DO NOT let them install it and cancel your appointment. They also say they don't work off commission when they come to your door, but if they didn't why do they push so hard to get you to sign their contract? Anyways, go to Best Buy and buy your own security system you get notifications straight to your phone and you can call the police yourself if you see anything suspicious. read more

ADT is refusing to cancel my service. I have called twice, both representatives on the phone said they cannot cancel my service and that I have to talk to someone else. I asked for a contact number or email and they refused, saying I would be contacted by them. Obviously no contact at all. I have had them for over 9 years and am not under any contract. And the worse part is without my permission when I tried to cancel the service they increased my cost of service and upgraded me. WHAT?!?!!! Do Not Recommend. Last September, a couple of guys came to my door and asked if I would do the company a favor and allow them to install a security system and sign in my yard. I agreed and signed what was apparently a three-year contract at $64.99 per month, plus a $200 installation charge. Fast forward to May of 2020 when I sold my house and got ready to move from AZ to WA. When I called ADT to cancel my security monitoring, they informed me of the three year contract and also that it wasn't with them, it was with America's Security. They advised me to reach out to AS, who told me that I had to buyout my contract ($1100 remaining) unless I wanted to transfer to a new company in WA, but that I would have to sign a new three year contract. I tried to make arrangements to buy out my contract because I refuse to sign another contract with a company that won't allow you to cancel your contract, even if you are moving to another state and will be renting, but AS advised me that I would also have to pay $850 for the equipment because I hadn't had it for 1 year yet. So now I'm waiting until September, which will be a year later, to not have to pay for equipment that I don't even have anymore, because they told me to leave it in the old house. I will still have to buyout my contract. Be aware of your contract lengths and the fact that you will have to pay for the equipment if you move before 1 year has passed. I will never use ADT again and I have to continue paying for equipment and service that I don't even have. read more

Door-to-Door people are pretty much scams and it is hard to believe these people still exists. My neighbor had ADT installed and I thought it was a pretty decent arrangement, so I contacted the marketing rep. He agreed to come by my house at 11:00 am. 6:00 pm I get a text from Joel saying that he was "sorry" for being late and that this other woman was asking "so many questions" causing him to be late. Annoyed, I believed his story and met with him anyway. He brought his girlfriend who was wearing an America's Security shirt and she sat at the table like a mute. He went through the entire program and it seemed legit. He stated that the install could happen the next day and even called the office to request a specific technician. This is the beginning of the end. The technician came as promised the next day, then got a call that a window tinting company was coming to tint his windows. He told me that he had to leave and would be back. I was like "WTF???" and just like that, the technician in MID-INSTALL left. His name is SEAN or SHAWN. He left at 10:00 am and texted me directly at 4:30 if I still wanted him to come back. WTF? He came back the next day to finish setting up and installed faulty door locks. He left without programming the back door rendering it useless. I called America's Security to fix this and was told that a technician would come out. The next technician came out 4 days later (yes, my backdoor to my house was open for 4 days) and put in the kwikset locks I had asked for. I asked the technician to key the front door and the back door the same so I only needed one key. He told me "I am not a lock smith, you should call one." what was the point of having this guy install my lock then??? One week later, my 1080p Camera's don't focus nor record, and the Ring Doorbell alarms do keep disconnecting from from the ADT system. The Marketing rep got really angry when I told him these issues were happening and his answer to me was "You got $3,000 of free stuff" and basically told em to shut up. I priced out how much all of his gear was, and it came to about $800, not $3,000 and it does matter the cost if it DOES NOT WORK. Finally spoke with the VP at America's Security and was promised a refund and received an apology. I do think ADT is legitimate, but America's Security is one of the worst companies to go with. Even their marketing ad shows the team playing pool instead of handling service calls. Stay AWAY from a Joel and his Girlfriend if they come knocking at your door. He will just tell you things he cannot promise then yell at you for all the "free" stuff he gave you. Pathetic. read more

Very poor company who failed to disclose several things such as Easy Pay instead of being billed. Also failed to disclose that an alarm permit was required with the city. Mike Lewis was more sbout selling than about making sure all relevant information was relayed to the customer. Very lacking in customer service. Been given the run around more than enough times. They can't admit to anything they have done wrong. Everything is the custoners fault. Love to yell at customers. I'm quite sure that their service is great as long as the customer is happy but when the customer is unhappy they don't want to do anything to correct it and make the customer happy. ADT says I have to call Americas Security, funny, America's Security says I have to call ADT. Neither one can get their shit straight. Sent another message to America's Security 3 days ago and have not had a response. Again asked for a manager or owner to call me( which I have requested several times) and guess what, no call. wow! Just called to cancel service, we've decided to go with another service. The guy (Josiah, not even sure exactly), as I couldn't hear nor understand him. He gave me a hard time about cancelling, asking questions as if I didn't have a brain in my body. It's one thing to offer a sales pitch, encourage customer to stay with ADT, but this guy was rude. Finally I stated we have ALL that we needed with other incoming service. Then he offered a monthly price at a discounted rate. By then I was so frustrated I wouldn't have taken it anyways. I asked him repeatedly to repeat what he was saying (reading from script), I apologized a few times (why did I have to, he didn't), as I wanted to understand what he was saying, time frame of service cutoff etc. He then had the nerve to hang up on me. I contacted them through the website, the free estimate, got info. Several things were not professional, as they needed to do a "soft" credit check, requiring my birthday. Then, needed a cr. card, and I reluctantly did so. I'm not "new" to setting up services for a home, and my dad and grandfather worked for ADT, which is not relevant, I think one thing to notice is their "alignment." So, I was speaking with city safe? Two different monthly fees, fine, but I wanted to have a home estimate as I wanted to add other components as not part of their package. There was a comment about a limit on a dog, 80 lbs., ours are larger. Told rep I would be comparing other companies and set appt. for this afternoon. The following day I called the same number and tried to cancel. One person had no reference of my call; one I left a msg. [prompted by such an invite] after a long hold, the other time, just got me further into a hole. And, a rep came today! What bothers me, I don't live close into the city and each phone call was if I was speaking to an Amway rep., not someone who would be handling my home security. The various phone calls, including the phone hangup or "drop" as they said it was, is not an infrastructure of business and this, "he said," "she said." Then, continually gave me another number for someone to help me? Each time I called back today, they would put me on hold to cancel my account, which they generate when they are to send someone out. Yet, when two different people ask, "Who did you go with?" Implying, which company did I choose and why?, that's not professional. Of course, I always go with truth, I went with the co. who had already wired the home and used by previous owner, who were very businesslike and I'd had service with in another home. My neighbor told me a person had been sitting in a car in front of my home for quite some time, as they knocked on my door or rang doorbell? and the dogs barked, but, that was it. They were just about to call the police, they thought maybe thirty minutes? (I hadn't even given a gate code, they were to call and verify the window time.) I'd had surgery this morning, I wasn't going to jump up, neighbors will then text if they want something. Apparently, they go ahead and send reps out, in the heat, "hoping" I didn't actually cancel, then blame me that I had not? after trying in every direction possible through the same phone number and hierarchy of choices . . . which go no place. Their phone system needs a major overhaul and no excuse for continuing to put someone on hold to cancel an appt., then forwarding to someone else, which rings . . . rings . . . and then they need to forward to cancel, after I'd already canceled. I'm sure residences have had marvelous service with them, each experience is different, but there were so many red flags on the initial phone call, I had trepidation at that point. ADT has to have the WORST service of any company anywhere! We've had our alarm for several years and it never takes any less than 3 service calls to even get a battery changed. And heaven forbid that something really bad happens & your alarm doesn't work at all. If they need to replace/repair the mother board expect it to take months or even years to get it fixed. We pay extra for this service too. This time because I raised holy h*** at midnight last night they are giving us 3 months free monitoring. Kudos to them for that! If it really happens. Those of you that have just had your system installed, they are great for installing them. Just wait til you need service. BUCKLE UP BUTTERCUP! You are in for quite a ride! I can only say that since I bought my home 3 weeks ago ADT had knocked on my door 4 times trying to sell me a system. Mis represented from the start by the sales man. Not explaining ADTs billing process correctly mis informing the customer telling me I was being billed one month in advance and would not be bill the following month was a lie, this is not how it works. Giving free shit like a camera door bell that doesn't work half the time, and having an additional charge for that as well so not so free after all. Plus when you call Americas Security to talk to someone about it, all you get is the typical run around ask to speak to a manager or Owner and get hung up on and no return call. Agree with some of the negative reviews here. This company will scour your neighborhood as though creeping for that likely gullible client who will purchase a contract through their scam explanations. Shaun Bennett is certainly one of them. I was told I would be charged $99.99 for install but was charged $200 and now even though they advertise they are open 7am to 9pm no one is answering their line and the answering cue states I have reached them after hours. I have had my system installed and than decided to get more cameras. I can't say enough about Steve the owner and his employee. They are the nicest people and do an outstanding job. I'm not savvy with technology and have called and texted Steve so much and never does he not have time to help me when he is done with a job he is on. Even came back over to help me. I would recommend this company to anyone. I wish half of the workers would have work ethics like smart security. People I'm a customer like you. Don't go anywhere else!!! Update: After writing a bad review, I finally got contacted. The next day, my product was hand delivered. However, now, I have had my alarm tripped 4 times in the last week while I was not home. I have not received a phone call, I have emailed customer service with no answer. I also looked at my checking account, there was a charge on Nov 8th for 2 months worth of service. Not only is that not correct, my contract states that it is to be pulled on the 29th of each month. I had already paid for Oct when I started my service. They stole $122 from me and have not monitored my system. I spent 2 hours on the phone with American Security and ADT both passing the buck. Neither one wants to admit wrong doing. I want out of this contract, was told that I would be contacted around 1 PM yesterday, nothing again. Even ADT had a very hard time reaching anyone at American Security. I certainly do not feel secure with my security system. I felt better before all of this. I want out, 72 hours for a disconnect options is not ok when the issues show up weeks later. I have only been with them since Sept 22nd and nothing but trouble! Next contact will be the news stations. No one is providing security if they can't even answer the phone! read more

Todd the Sales Rep is nothing but a good liar, he omits details on his sales pitch he doesn't mention 36 month contract for 65.00 a month. He tells you the system is completely wireless that's another lie, he offered a money saving thermostat, however they don't install it, there's more misleading information to the customer and they use ADT forms as a contractor, but omit the information of their phone numbers and they don't have a dealer license number, they only have a dealer number which is different. I called ADT to report that to them of misusing their forms and misleading customer to believe they are part of ADT when in fact they are not. They keep you calling multiple numbers on the forms they use so that you are stuck with a contract since you only have 3 to cancel and they don't have their own forms for cancellations they use ADT's and they omit their company phone number and or a fax number for your to cancel your contract agreement. I reported them to ADT about miss use of their forms and misleading and lying to customers. This company stinks, don't use them at all don't sign any documents with ADT forms with this dealer. They also did a technician check list I never saw or even signed and some how when I contacted their office they told me they had a re-stock fee of 250.00 and that I had signed when the tech finished his installation, which I never signed, they pasted my information on to that form. We had just moved into our house and had had several sales guys show up, but none would wait for another time, when we could sit down with nothing going on and look at everything. Then, one day while I am stuck at work, my wife talks to the salesman, named Colby Hicks. He brags about the company and how they are backed by the biggest security company in the US, that they would be able to offer us the best security system in the neighborhood and give us the best equipment to boot. He told my wife about how whenever something new and better came out, we would be the first to get it, because we would be in a special category, as an advertising house. All we had to do was put an ADT sign in the front yard and we would always have the best security system possible, for a low price. DON'T BE FOOLED! He then gets on the phone with me, because my wife didn't want to buy it without me knowing about it. He then tells me the same story, we would be an advertising house and because they came to us, we would get the best of everything! He mentioned that they were gonna give us $3000 worth of stuff for only $100, that we would have the top of the line equipment at all times, and that he was gonna give us a free Ring Doorbell as well. Then he told me that there was a new Ring Doorbell Pro that was coming out soon and that we would be getting that too. It wasn't until after the four hour install that I got home and realized we had been lied to. We were given their most basic keypad, even though the packet the order sheet came in showed a touch-screen unit. And as for the doorbell... the new Ring Pro is already out, but we got the basic doorbell instead. When I tried to call the company on a Saturday, the guy told me there was nobody there that could help me, but that he would have a supervisor call me on Monday and they could downgrade my service, no problem. I didn't want the Pulse App, it alone wasn't worth the $54/month service fee. But nobody ever called. I waited a week, nothing. When I called today, I was attacked by the Customer Service Manager, who basically told me I was locked into my contract, with no ability to downgrade my coverage, or upgrade my equipment, even though Colby promised us the best upgrades possible, after all, we were an advertising house, right? She says she doesn't know what that means and continues to tell me that nothing is going to change and if I don't like it, I can talk to her supervisor, but she never transfers me. Instead, she tells me that he isn't available and when I ask if I can leave a message, she says it doesn't work like that. Funny, for a company that prides themselves on customer service, that really seem to be lacking in that department. If you are in the market for a security system, don't buy from this horrible company, unless you enjoy being lied to and having your money stolen. Also, Colby called me after hearing I had complained and chewed me out before hanging up on me, not letting me give my feedback on his opinion. When I called back, he would hang up on me. When I would ask him why he lied, he said we got everything that was in our contract, which he tricked us. He pointed at the high end equipment and when we agreed to it, wrote down the model numbers of the cheapest equipment instead. I had an installer come to my home last night. He was very friendly in the beginning. He installed the panel on the wall and that's when everything went south. He came back from talking with ADT and said that the system would be $5000. I told him no. He said that was ok but that I had credit to work with to customize my system. After about an hour and a half of getting nowhere and not getting what I was told I would get over the phone, I told him I wasn't going to do this at this time. He became rude and said that it was a waste of time and that now 2 families are not protected. I told him it was a waste of my time as well. I did not get what I what I was promised over the phone. He then comes back with his boss on the phone and I have to relay the same information to his boss, who tried to get me to just install the system. I took another call and me getting very annoyed and a little snippy to get them to give me back my deposit on the install. I will not do business with a company that tells me... " I'm sorry money is more important than protecting your family." Absolutely disgusted by this tactic. read more

We had system from another company that shall go unnamed. Let's just say it rhymes with Monitronics. When approached by Thomas and his colleague he immediately addressed our concerns with our existing system that we rarely utilized. He was able to set us up with the correct equipment to protect our home and is extremely knowledgeable about home security. We still had several months left on our contract with the other company. When I called them they refused to cancel over the phone and they also tried to get 100% of the remaining contract. The contract I had signed with the other company said I should pay 55% of remaining contract length. Thomas helped me navigate through the bureaucracy of the other company and get out of my contract for a fraction of what they were demanding.
