Let me preface by saying I'm a Pep Boys customer. I called them to get quotes on tires I couldn't find on the website. I had to have somebody call me back. They never did. I called back. Nothing. The next day. Still nothing. I called America's Tire this morning, and the 800# operator started this great experience. She was helpful, friendly, and made me a same day (actually about a 45 min) appointment. I got a text confirmation, and then a text with a request for confirmation that I was on my way. Cool. I get to the place, and as I'm walking in, here some Tyler to greet me. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be the recipient of this kind of service. But, he was looking at me the entire way and said he wanted to make sure I was taken care of. Sweet. He explained the tires, service, and here I am sitting in the lobby waiting for my tires. My Spare Almost Fell Off On The Freeway! I've always had great experiences with America's Tire, but that changed recently. I went in and purchased four new tires for my SUV, and upon leaving I found that my tire sensors weren't operating correctly. They said that would clear itself out, probably within the next hour or so. It hasn't and now been a couple weeks. In that time I've also started to hear a rattling in the back of my truck like my spare tire is loose. Never have had that happen in 35 plus years on the road. Upon Investigation, I found they had rotated the tire, but never tightened the lug nuts on the spare tire. One of the lug nuts had already worked its way off, and was gone, and the other two were hanging on by a couple of threads. This is really inexcusable on their part. This is a simple checklist process thing. Guess I need to check the wheels on all four corners too. You sell tires. If one thing must be drilled into these people it's the criticality of tightening form the lug nuts!!! Being fast is great for sales, but it also has liabilities. I went in for a tire rotation. Jake the Manager inspected tires and told me the tires were in terrible condition and not to drive on the Freeway because of their condition. I took the car to another shop in Danville. I was told by that shop that the tires (all 4) were in good condition and I should get at least another 3,000 miles fr them. I want to thank everyone that helped me at Americans Tire today. I had a spare tire on my SUV and my regular tire in the back. They got me in and out of there within the hour fixed my tire didn't try to upsell me to put new tires on. I knew my vehicle did not need them yet. I did appreciate that. They did notice my rear window wiper needed to be replaced and I haven't been able to find that size anywhere. They had it in stock and were able to install it. I was blown away by the service and the value of the service and the price that they did all this for, great job guys. Service was great! I had a flat and had to have my car towed here from the East Bay. Even though their appointments were all booked up, they took me in as a walk in. I thought I'd be there all day but they were able to fix my tire in about an hour. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. They had even ordered a tire for delivery that day just in case they weren't able to fix it. I also highly recommend purchasing the warranty certificates for the tires. I stopped by America's Tire on San Ramon Blvd because I had a flat tire. The gentleman who helped me took a look at my tires and told me I needed to replace all four. I explained that I only wanted to fix the one tire that had the issue, but he said he couldn't touch it unless they replaced all four tires. That didn't feel right to me, so I told him I wanted a second opinion and went to Costco. They checked my car, found the nail, removed it, and patched the tire for $15. They had no problem fixing just the one tire, and everything has been fine since. This was my first bad experience with this location. Mostly great experience. I had made an appointment but when I arrived there was no dedicated person or line dealing with that. Had to stand in line with other walk-ins until it was my turn. Rep said my 4 tires would be installed in 45 minutes, by 3:00 pm, so I went for a walk. When I arrived back at 3, I was told they needed to know if I wanted white or black side facing out. They hadn't even started yet. Tires were finally done in another 20 minutes. Unlike many other tire stores there was no envelope with with tire warranty info and other details. I was handed a long grocery store style paper receipt. Everyone was polite, helpful and efficient. Restroom was clean. Sufficient parking when I arrived. Bought the tires from the web page. Unfortunately had to be here twice in the past month for flat tires. Everything was done very quickly, which was a genuine shock for anything car related. I was anticipating not getting the car back for a few hours, but it was done before I could even take a stroll around the block. The first time I went I didn't get the extra warranty, but the second time I did, just because I had 2 flats in a month. They have a wide variety of tires and are very friendly and helpful. Amazing store with honest employees. I went in to have some rim damage looked at and some wear on the side wall from hitting a curb too hard like an idiot. The employee told me that the tires were fine and to replace the rims once I needed new tires in the future. My dad later confirmed this. Slower than molasses going uphill in the snow. They are obviously very understaffed. Waited 15 minutes and they hadn't gotten even 1 person through the checkin line. My appointment for a simple tire rotation was exactly one hour ago and my car hasn't even been brought in yet. I asked about it and was first told for some reason I was checked in as not having an appointment, but would be going in next. Then I was told it was checked in as an appointment, but there were still two appointments ahead of me. How can that be if at the time it was 45 mins past my appointment time? Either I'm being lied to or their appointment system is very flawed. I've been in and out quicker without an appointment in the past. This location no longer has any floor mounted car lifts and all cars are jacked up manually with four separate moveable floor jacks for each car instead of a conventional lift. I've been told this is apparently because of the amounts of Teslas they work on daily. So if you're not a Tesla owner, be aware your car is balancing on four movable independent floor jacks when they're working on it. Not something I would want if a conventional and safe car lift structure is available at other tire businesses to drive your car onto. read more

They did a good job here, mounting tires on the wheels I brought in. I was a bit unsure whether there would be any problems with the wheels I bought from the Facebook marketplace but they put them on without any problems and took the old tires and gave me back my original rims in the same spot I had the new wheels. I will ding them one star for being really slow though. I don't get the feeling the place is running at peak efficiency, it seems to take longer here than what I would image if you have appointment scheduling. Maybe they should book less appointments if they regularly seem to be falling behind on their work speed. read more

My wife needed new tires all around. The manager who I have seen forever made a recommendation and so there it went! She got new Michelin tires! The Michelin tires are rated highly so no problem. Wait for an hour or so since I came early and just chilled in their waiting area reading emails and catching up with friends from afar. Once the tires were done, I checked them and as per usual the quality of work and tires look phenomenal. Price was what I expected and plus I do not care since, I ride motorcycle and know the importance of good tires and not average. Great job to this team here. A week ago I made an appointment for Tuesday 11:00am. I arrived at 10:40am and there was a pretty long line. As I was waiting I am listen to each of the customers and being observant. I finally get checked in by 10:58am and I sit and listen to those that were behind me. The guy in front of me had a 10:30am appointment but was late but was taken care of almost instantly. As his car is being worked on, two other cars go in and one in particular I noticed because it was one of the guys that was behind me that stated he didn't have an appointment. I continue to wait and finally by 11:45am my truck is brought in for service. By that point, the non appointment guy that was behind me was already done. I saw the service manager Zach and I asked him if they prioritized non appointments over appointments. He said appointments are prioritized and I asked why mine was delayed. I specifically brought up the non appointment guy and he made an excuse/lie that he had an appointment and that they were playing catchup. I don't understand how he can have an appointment before or after my selected time and get serviced before me while I was on time. My second issue was that the tire torque sequence was not correct and the handling of the gun and socket could lead to damaged wheels. The employee putting the wheel back on was not doing the appropriate star pattern. As he moved from lug to lug, he would slide/ride the socket against the rim which could cause scratches. As he finished torquing all lug nuts, he then went in a clockwise direction. I had higher expectations from this store and being lied to and then having to be in the store for 1.5hrs was not a great experience at all. read more

I had a scheduled appointment as I had a screw in my tire causing a slow leak. They got me in and out in less than 30 minutes and there was no cost! (The tire is OEM and not one I bought from them). This type of service is why I take all my cars here for tire maintenance. I've also purchased their warranty when I've bought tires and it's paid off because the roads around here have so much debris and I was able to get my tire replaced when I punctured a sidewall that could not be patched.
