I stayed here as part of a wedding block for a wedding at Castle Farms. With the extremely high price, I thought it would be something fancy, but instead it was a rundown little motel. Overall, it was okay, but the blankets were thin and all of us reported being cold at night. The air conditioner/heater was one of those crappy things that cycles on and off all night, waking us up at every interval. My room didn't smell bad, but my friends complained of musty smelling rooms and stains on the floor. The wifi was weak and spotty. I will say that the breakfast was decent, the shower pressure was almost too powerful, and the staff was nice. read more

My stay: July 29-August 3 2025. Let me start by saying that your front desk staff are good (not great, good). However, your Inn needs a lot of work. I drove to Michigan from Philadelphia and arrived at your site at about 10:30 PM; I wasted 15 minutes driving back and forth in front of your hotel because your front sign was burned out (the woman at the desk, when that was mentioned to her, said "oh, I'll have to remind them about that'. Nothing changed; the sign was still out when I left. My room SMELLED (not in terms of conditions which wasn't good) but the odor was BAD. When mentioned at the desk, and asking for another room (booked, couldn't help me) they offered to 'Spray' the room; wouldn't have changed too much. The mini frig was missing the bottom rung on the door but I didn't really have a lot to store; the items I stored on the upper door section partially froze. The furniture was all dinged up. The floor around the desk area hadn't been vacuumed and was still dirty when I left. It appears that there was a new key fob system installed on the door (keeping up with the times); however, the extra security latch on the interior door failed to work since it was never properly reinstalled when the new system was added. My room was towards the rear entrance/exit where the ice machine was not working and didn't look like it would be anytime soon. The laundry are had ceiling tiles leaning against the heating system from the day I arrived until the day I left; there was also trash on one of the shelves that wasn't touched the entire time I was there. At the rear door, there was an old heating system cover, leaning on the wall, that remained there my entire stay; outside that door, there were large tiles leaning on the wall that also remained in the same spot for my five day stay. The parking lot was dirty with grass growing along the curbing on the driveway. A bit annoying was the fact that my room wasn't cleaned (at least once) during my stay. I find that troublesome for a chain that values customer comfort. And lastly, when I returned the door fobs to the front desk before leaving, I wasn't even asked how my stay was; a definite mistake on management's part. In closing, I was asked to participate in your survey; I got to it too late and it had ended. If you're keeping score, I most definitely would not recommend your facility to anyone traveling to, and staying, on the Peninsula. read more

I dont even know where to begin. We checked in and the woman working seemed overwhelmed but pleasant...fast forward to later in the evening. We booked this particular hotel because I am injured and wanted to use the hot tub and sauna for therapeutic purposes. First night went to go use the hot tub. It was not operational. No biggie. Asked the lady if there was maintenance available to fix it as it is a weekend...if not I was considering using another hotel..at this point this employee "lost it" told us she was exhausted from being overworked and was tired of us because she had "been waiting on us hand and foot for 2 days" (we checked in 3 hours previous) began to scream at my wife to "get away from her desk" and then threatened to call the police. Her coworker came to calm the situation but then doubled down saying "you dont know what kind of day she has had" my daughter went to use the pool area after us and noticed the sauna was locked. Asked the same lady (unaware that we had an incident with her already and was told "not a chance"....the sauna was locked for the rest of our stay. Additionally this same lady was sleeping on the couch in the lounge area when customers were coming in the morning! I asked for the general managers card so I could tell this story up the ladder...but was told "they aint got" a general manager. read more

I have stayed here twice now and have enjoyed both of my stays! It's not really "in town" as you definitely have to drive to get anywhere but if you have a bike with you that's a great option! There is a paved trail across the street that goes all the way to Petoskey. When you are pulling up off of US31, the entrance looks like you are pulling into the church but the parking lots connect and that's the only way to get to the hotel so be ready to turn as it comes up fast! The lobby is honestly really cute and fits the up north vibes with all the wood! They have breakfast in the lobby with lots of packaged food options like muffins and pop tarts and then they also have a couple hot food options like eggs and sausage. Pretty good and will save ya a couple bucks instead of going out to breakfast in town. Rooms are always clean and the AC works which is key. Large rooms and I have even been inside a room that has a fireplace! This hotel is a great affordable option for Charlevoix. read more

This is the first time we have stayed here, and the hotel is very clean. I did see the review on bed bugs (after checking in) and checked our room and had none. Front desk staff is very friendly, and same with the breakfast staff. My family did not spend much time in the room, we usually left the hotel at 10 and didn't return until 9 pm. But we did use the pool and it again, was clean. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because they only do house keeping when you check out. We stay from 7/1-7/6 and not once did someone come in and do anything. I had to take out the trash and go to the front desk for more towels. Another reason I didn't give it 5 stars, they allow owners to bring their dogs into a very small breakfast nook. I have a large pitbull but wouldn't ever bring it to the breakfast bar. We had the pleasure of staying here while attending a wedding at castle farms and it was absolutely wonderful. The staff is so kind here that you'd think you're at a tropical resort where this is hammered into the training. Breakfast is delicious and has everything - between the waffle maker, fruit, eggs, cereal, and to-go items such as bars and sandwiches, there really is everything you would need. Rooms are spacious and clean, lobby is welcoming, and the pool + sauna + jacuzzi was such a refreshing combo. Free thin mint chocolates and dog treats at the entrance during check-in, and really all the accommodations and comfort that surprised our expectations entirely. read more

Room 113 still has bedbugs. I stayed in this room on November 3rd, 2021. Unfortunately, I did not read the post from September 7th until I stayed the night and suffered numerous bug bites. This past week I spent two nights there, spending the night of 11/3 in room 113. I woke up to bumps on my neck and thought it was a rash. By the evening, my face, ears, neck, shoulders, and arms were covered with over a hundred itchy/burning bites. I realized these were due to bed bugs at the Americinn. That evening I called to report the situation to the front desk. I was put on hold for 8 minutes and then hung up on. I called back and left a message on the answering machine. The next morning, 11/5, I called and spoke to the receptionist. She was aloof and unapologetic. She said, "Many other people have stayed in that room since you were here." She did not thank me for calling and reporting this problem. read more

Travelers beware, this hotel has bed bugs! I was given room 113, and the room seemed clean. However, when I woke up to use the restroom during the night, I found bugs crawling on not only my bed, but the other bed in the room. I immediately notified staff, who seemed a little underwhelmed at my discovery. I was moved to a new room, but as you can imagine I had a hard time sleeping the rest of the night. The morning staff was much more apologetic about the situation, but didn't even offer a discount for my troubles. read more

We stayed at AmericInn Charlevoix October 2021 to attend a wedding. Our stay was a mix of good and bad. The lobby is warm and inviting with a beautiful fireplace and rustic wooden staircase, and the adjoining breakfast space is clean and offers eggs, sausage and waffles in addition to muffins, yogurts, cereals, coffee, juice etc. We enjoyed it. We arrived at night and the staff was welcoming and helped us take our luggage to our rooms. The hotel was quiet and the beds were comfortable. Now the not so good. Our party had four rooms and in two of them, upon turning down the covers, we found dog hair and human hair on the sheets. Obviously the sheets had not been changed, which is gross at any time but expecially during Covid. Went down and told the desk and without a word they handed us a set of clean sheets. I thought the housekeeping staff would make the change, but we had to make up the bed ourselves. In room 113 after showering noticed that there was about 4 inches of water in the tub that would not go down the drain, so the next person who showered had to either wait for it to go down which took about an hour, or step into someone else's dirty water. I just now noticed a posted review saying that room 113 had bed bugs. That we did not find, but then we were not looking. The rooms are standard and not badly appointed, but the lighting is poor. I guess the number 13 is unlucky here. Try not to stay in room 113, and be on the lookout for hairs in your bed. read more

My best friend and I decided to have a little one night stay-cation. We booked online though a different site only 20 minutes before so we were a little worried about the check in. They were completely prepared for us by the time that we arrived and check in was a breeze . the room was clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderful, but the real star of our stay was Camille. We had become locked out of our room for a short time. We walked up the the desk, Camille immediately greeted us without us having to wait even though it it pretty late at night. She was nothing short of wonderful, and was happy to sort out our small issue. Will definitely be returning. read more

On 7/30/21 we went into the lobby Savannah was at the front desk profusely apologizing to the guest at the desk, I'm not sure of the circumstances for the apology but clearly, there was something not right. Savannah then began checking us in. She explained there was no elevator in the building and the only room left was room 218. We said we were ok with the stairs and continued the check-in process. They sent us on our way and we took the trek up the stairs with all our baggage. When we arrived at room 218 the keys wouldn't open the room. I went back downstairs and got new keys. Upon returning upstairs we found that the Room was filthy!! There was leftover food in the mini-fridge, there were someone's dirty socks left on the floor, food chunks were all over the floor and it was obvious they didn't vacuum, there were stains and hairs on the bedsheets, there was hair in the bathtub. I called downstairs and Allison hung up on me after I reported the problems. So I went downstairs to speak to them in person. Savannah came out and told me they would relocate us to a new room. Guess what number? Room 129, the bottom floor that wasn't available 15 minutes earlier. However, Allison said she would go check the cleanliness of the room before relocating us. Well, that room was dirty too. Savannah called Joel, who she said was the manager, who was not on site. He explained to her, sorry, nothing we can do for them we have no available rooms to fulfill their reservation. I had booked this reservation with $388 worth of points with Chase, which really seems crazy seeing the typically $95 price online. We ended up leaving while I was still on the phone with Chase trying to find another place to stay and my daughter told me later as we were walking out Savannah said "BYE FELICIA" (Wikipedia says: is generally intended as a dismissive send-off.) Chase explained to me that they would have to verify that the hotel couldn't provide a room to us to refund my unused points. I gave them Joel's name as Savannah provided to me as the manager. Today is September 6 and I delayed writing a review sooner while I tried to resolve this. I've still been unable to get a refund of my $388 worth of points because no one will answer Chase's phone calls or return phone calls left on voicemail. I've escalated this to Wyndham corporate and they informed me the manager is Jessie and gave me a direct number for her. She refuses to return calls as well. Corporate basically told me in an email today that I'm on my own, franchisees are required to manage their own locations without corporate intervention. That made me decide to post this review and that I'll never stay at another Wyndham either. My family searched online and called about 20 hotels searching for availability for a place to stay that night. We finally found a Best Western that had ONE room in Traverse City that had just been canceled by a pilot that had a layover. This area of Michigan doesn't have a lot of hotel choices, so if you rely on a reservation here you might be stuck. Do NOT take a "chance" with AmericInn in Charlevoix, Michigan or you might end up sleeping in your car with your family like we almost had to do!! read more

Check in was at 3 and we arrived at the hotel around 3:53 and our room was not ready as it still had to be dusted. I told the lady we had a wedding at 4:30 and I didn't care about dusting and just wanted in the room to get ready. I had to get dressed (as well as my spouse), do my makeup and pump because I'm a nursing Mom 4 hours from my baby. With no apology she said it also needed vacuuming and said to come back in twenty minutes. The room was clean, bed and linens were comfortable, complimentary coffee always and the breakfast was ok enough for free. The juice did taste soapy so they could maybe rinse them better before putting them on but hey at least I know they are clean! read more

We booked our wedding block at this hotel and also stayed here ourselves several times before the wedding as well as the wedding weekend itself. Their staff was great and easy to work with when setting up the wedding block too. The rooms are always very clean and the staff has always been very pleasant. Housekeeping is always on top of it. We loved how spacious our room was and how soft and cozy the bed was. Never had a problem with the water pressure or temperature in the rooms when we stayed here either. There were no complaints from any of our wedding guests who also booked at this hotel. The only thing that I think could use a little work is to have a little more variety in the breakfast and a few more options. We stayed there for three nights and two of the mornings the main hot option was biscuits and gravy. I suppose that is personal preference, but I will say that their waffles are on point and the rest of the breakfast was fantastic! Overall the breakfast is well above average. While staying here, we also used their main pool and hot tub. As a young couple without kids, we absolutely loved that there is a curfew for the kids of 10pm but that adults can use those facilities until midnight! That is totally awesome and very relaxing. read more

At least it's clean. The walls are VERY thin, you can listen to your neighbors TV, conversations, or even when they're child is crying. Amazing experience!! The friendly staff makes it feel like a family-runned establishment...knowledgeable about all the Charlevoix sights. From the cathedral ceilinged foyer complete with a roaring fire place and stocked hardcover bookshelves, to the most comfortable bed i've slept in..I felt like i'd slept on a cloud!...I can't wait to go back. We brought our dog and were given a pet-friendly room with a private access to outside, so i could just walk my fur-baby out the door from my room, which also happened to have a full-size refrigerator and stove, a sitting area, and a dining area. Perfect for extended stays! We even got to enjoy the clean sauna/whirl pool/swimming pool. Breakfast offered everything i could want, too. I can't wait to make it back to this charming hotel. read more

Stayed here last night and was very pleasantly surprised! I wasn't expecting much, but when we walked into our room and saw the fire place that was a nice touch! I'm not gonna say it felt super clean (it's a hotel people come on) but it didn't feel dirty at all!
