If you lime thT kind of thing you will like this fine. If you are like me a hotel person it's a tough sell. The person who checked us in was very nice, the grounds are fine. The rooms are spartan and well BB types. Older blankets and furniture which is the style but again if you want hotel like stuff this is not for you. The tv was a nine inch one and sat on a dresser, weird. There were only four outlets in the room and between the room ac unit, the tv and two lamps, no way to charge a phone, laptop, iPod anything. They should put in an extension cord or power strip. Bed as fine, soft, but fine. Bathroom was nice, really nice towels All in all if you are a bb person and like the o,dear more homey stuff this is great. If you like the standard ness of a hotel like me, this can be an odd, not bad, but odd stay I did not have breakfast or snacks so cannot comment.

The property was covered in a variety of flowers and trees and had many different native birds as well. We do not have horses and there is a barn for them if you want. There are many trails in the area and one is right across the road. The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable of the area and is also a superb cook! The breakfasts were plentiful and had a good variety for any pallet. If you explore downtown Petoskey make sure you book a cruise on the ferry and explore Bay Harbor or Harbor Springs. It's only $10 round trip per person! With the current climate, once a room is booked the others are not rented out so you have the property to yourself. We will be back and stay again for sure!

For both of us, this was our first bed & breakfast stay and we had no idea what to expect. We had…read moreseen the King of Queens episode of when they stayed in a bed & breakfast and it made us a bit hesitant on selecting to stay in one! Boy were we wrong though. This place was fantastic to stay in. I was unsure what room to book and where any of them were located, so I chose the Cedar Room. Pulling up to this place, you can already tell that it's going to have that "homey" like setup to it. We checked in a little bit later than expected (you have a 3pm to 6pm window). We walked in through the guest entrance and were greeted and toured around the common area. You get complimentary coffee, pop, cookies and other snacks in the common room kitchen area. The Cedar Room, where we were staying, was right next to the entrance where guests were coming and going every so often. I wasn't aware of that and might not select that room in the future because of the feeling that everyone can hear you that are nearby. Sleeping through the night was a little bit tough too in this room depending on the type of people above you. When people walk above you or use their bathroom, you can clearly hear it. The bed was so comfy though and the privacy shades made it so dark in the room, that we were able to fall back asleep pretty quickly. The breakfast part of this adventure, was absolutely amazing. Phil and Marci really know how to cook and prepare a mean breakfast! The two mornings that we were able to have breakfast, we had some great spreads! Day 1: -Mini blueberry, strawberry, granola, vanilla yogurt parfait -Quiche (egg, green pepper, onion, potato) -Bacon -Very soft bread with herb butter -Orange Juice Day 2: -Watermelon and kiwi fruit cup -Croissant with cherry jam -Quiche (egg, spinach) -Scalloped potatoes -Cherries -Sausage -Orange Juice Talk about a great way to start your day huh? They also had a great brew of coffee going and other k-cups available. It was hard to check out, that was for sure. It was a nice home away from home. Thank you Phil, Marci and team for the hospitality and comfort for a great weekend where we celebrated a friend's wedding!

We wanted to do the Unlimited wine tasting but there was just too much to do. Oh and the breakfast... my LAWD it was amazing. I'm not sure how Lance was able to do it, but everything I ate was the best I've ever had. I'm not just blowing smoke it was that great. Bonus points for the driveway feeling like a hill climb.

First, the room: The Bear Den was a cozy, clean, and comforting piece of up north. The room is decorated with tasteful log and bear decor and the bathroom has a beautiful stone shower. This room is offset from the main bed and breakfast house, so you have to walk outside to get to it and have privacy from the rest of the bed and breakfast. There is a spot to park your car right next to your room and you are located right behind the wine tasting room. The outdoor hot tub (yes, you read that right!!) is right outside the Bear Den door. We visited during the fall, so this was a great time to enjoy the hot tub overlooking the fall colors! Second, a bit on the service: it was excellent! When you arrive, you are met by the couple who manages the B&B. They are very friendly and accommodating! They offer made-to-order breakfast each morning. You fill out a paper the night before with your order (lots of options!) and what time you would like it ready. Then you simply arrive to the main house dining area at that time, and your food is promptly brought out to you! They have coffee and juices and water at your disposal. And just off the dining area is a large wrap-around deck, which would be perfect for summer weather! Also within the main B&B area are various other rooms, a library at your disposal, and an indoor hot tub, sauna, and exercise equipment (bike and free weights). To add an extra perk onto this already fantastic stay, the B&B is also home to a vineyard, so included in our stay was a complimentary wine tasting of the wines made from that vineyard. This was an absolutely amazing stay made great by the room, the accommodations, the location, the crisp fall air, and the wonderful service! Definitely would go back and recommend to anyone!!!

It's been two months since our wonderful trip and overnight stay at Hart's Inn on Mackinac Island…read morebut I am still dreaming about it! What a beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, comfortable little inn! Just one street removed from the main drag, staying here means you'll have all the convenience of hanging near the action, but none of the noise and congestion. Granted, you have to walk up a small hill, but it is quite manageable, even after a night of pub-pedaling (like a pub crawl but on a bicycle!) Forget that fancy place with the big front porch, I love the far less expensive, cozy little red and white Hart's Inn! Making a reservation by phone was easy and checking in and out meant simply picking up and dropping off keys. The room was pristine, bright and cheery. We slept like logs in a very comfy bed with the in-room a/c set just where we like it. We took breakfast the next morning al fresco under one of the bright red umbrellas. The landscaping and lawn is colorful and lush. It was like eating in a garden. I loved the big white mugs filled with plenty of steaming, strong coffee. Pierre, the young on-site manager was very personable and helpful. He did a wonderful job of making sure all was in good order. After breakfast we took a bike ride around the island then checked out and left our bags with Pierre while we did a little more exploring. I love that Hart's Inn does not require a two night minimum stay. We wish it could have been longer but we only had one night available on our itinerary. Make sure to request a room that opens onto the lawn.
