Brayden came all the way out on a Sunday to get my A/C working again. Couldn't be happier!

We hired AmeriCool to install the HVAC system in our new build in 2022-23. When placing the heat pump, they opted for convenience instead of paying attention to the design of the home. Whereas the plans called for a unit which exhausted upward, they opted to install a unit which exhausted out the side -- and pointed that right at our front door/porch and directly across several thousand dollars worth of landscaping that had already been installed (unit placement was one of the last install items). Flash forward to winter. Though the weather was typical PNW -- rainy but above freezing -- the heat pump's frigid exhaust created an ever-thickening layer of ice on the concrete porch and steps just outside the front door and along the paver walkway leading to the driveway. Also, the exhaust desiccated several of our plants. We contacted the manufacturer who stated we could build a 4' high cedar slat fence 2' in front of the unit to redirect the exhaust, but this ultimately failed because the unit was tucked into a corner nook between the garage and home. The redirected exhaust built up an ice sheet under the unit and 10' up the adjacent gutter until the ice pushed the unit over on its side. Americool's response: "It happens and you're not under warranty." We worked with another company on a solution which we ultimately performed ourselves -- a wind baffle coupled with gapping the fence slats, a tray under the unit with underground piping to our storm drain, installation of an outlet and placing a plug-in deicing rod in the tray to keep the condensate drainage liquid so it can drain away. On a new build! They could have located the unit anywhere! Or better yet just installed the upward-exhausting unit called for in the plans. Just avoid these fools. read more

This is how a company looses business over .30 cents. I had a $10000 heat pump put in and after they left there were 2 wires that needed capped. Stopped by there office to have the office ladies tried to assess the situation. Then the office manager guy came out and said it looks like a condensation pump we don't use any more. She notes she leaves messages when she doesn't, she changes appointments without contacting the customer who may have taken the day off to be at home for the repair and she is generally unprofessional. The guys just finished putting in our new heat pump and furnace. I was impressed with the original maintenance I received through my ins co and asked for a bid to replace my old unit. I asked around and several of our friends have had work done by this same co. What a professional, friendly, and respectful team. Replaced our furnaces with heat pumps in May thinking it would be another hot summer like 2021 and wanted some AC. So far it's June and we're still running the heat! Last year in June I called Americool when our air conditioner stopped working. Prior to the appointment (a few days) I called them because I now knew our units motor was fried. My reason for calling was "instead of sending a tech can you send me a sales person. They assured me same guy could provide me with options & prices. He came as scheduled. I said I already know the unit is no good can you just provide me with options to replace unit. He looked at unit for 2 minutes said "yep your right it's done." He then advised sales would email me some pricing information. I received the email & called to see when the soonest I could be placed on schedule & was informed end of August. I explained I could not wait that long because I have Frenchies & I just could not take a chance on weather & them over heating. I chose a company that could install the soonest. I then received a bill from Americool for diagnosing my unit!!! I called explained I had phoned in didn't need diagnosing but I'm being charged she assured me she would reach out & discuss with tech. I never received another bill until today May 1st 2023!! 9 months later. I called immediately talked with billing lady again this time she was very rude & condescending. So all & all I am being charged for diagnosing when in fact they were to come & provide me with a free estimate. read more

Hot weekend (over 100) and my heat pump was not working. Called their 24/7 and got a call back quickly from a tech. He walked me through resetting the system before he his next service appointment. It worked and my a/c worked like a charm. What's more awesome was that I received another called from another tech an hour later to check up on me and to see if I needed additional help. Even on extremely busy day (due to extreme heat in the area) their awesome customer service shines through. I only feel bad because I forgot their names so I am not able to give them a shout out. We were in the market for a new furnace, heatpump, and water heater. Called Patrick for a bid and he was able to beat the other prices by over $2,000 dollars. He was very responsive and helpful. Unfortunately they were unable to get us in as quickly as someone else, so I had to cheduled with a different but more expensive company. Even then he notified me of a cancelation to ensure we were taken care of. Excellent customer service and will definitely use them in the future. read more

After buying a repo house with a less than perfect furnace, I called several repair company's and chose Americool. Norm came out, really nice, knowledgeable guy. Didn't pressure us to upgrade or add things we didn't need or couldn't afford. We decided to repair it, see if we could get a couple more years outta the old beast. Norm was able to order the part (10 yr old furnace) & Reece came out to do the repair work. Also a nice fellow. Worked quickly, answered any questions we had, went over all the basics. Bill came to $240. Front office staff Lisa & Nancy are friendly and were able to answer any misc questions we came up with. Really A+ business. We'll definitely use them when the old beast gives up the ghost & we need to replace our furnace. read more

Great Service! Owning a heat pump is new to me so when I the heat dipped to the 50's I tried to adjust the thermostat without success. Sunday is not a good day to get a service call however the house was freezing so I called for service and was told the on duty tech would get back to me soon. Trevor called me back within the hour. He listened to my concerns and promised to be out in the afternoon. He kept his promise; quickly diagnosed the problem and had the heat back on in less than 30 minutes. Trevor also took the time to review the settings on the thermostat and explained each mode to me. Discussed filters with my husband and gave us a recommendation on where to purchase a hard to find filter. Trevor provided excellent service and went above and beyond what he was required to do. read more

Horrible customer service other than their tech guy Kevin. Paid $6,707.04 for a new heat pump in Sept. 2020. Nov. 2020 it quit working. They came out to look at it, came back a week later and installed a part which fixed it temporarily. Sept. 2021 it quit working again. We didn't have any heat for two months because they kept replacing parts, but it didn't fix it. The tech came back three times to try another part. After the third visit it was finally fixed....well for now anyway. They sent us a $760.75 bill. Parts were under warranty, but labor is not. I called to dispute the charges since this was a new system and very expensive to begin with and Teena claims they can't write off anything more than $215 because that would be a loss for them. Teena said she would have the salesman Pat contact me. It has been almost a month and I have never received a call from anyone. Teena sent another invoice for the $700+ and wrote "please get back to me on the status of this past due invoice". She clearly doesn't keep notes on conversations or follow through. Every time I call I get disconnected and they don't even bother calling you back when they have your number. Do not spend your money here!! read more

I am weary of service companies. Hate companies that nickle and dime, overcharge, tried to pressure me to upgrade. I feel like Americool does none of these things! I have had two different units installed from this company and they have been wonderful to work with. I recently had an issue with one of the fittings failing and the system lost refrigerant. I called the company and they had a tech out in less than two hours. He had to spend a significant amount of time to find and fix the problem but he said up front he wasn't leaving until the problem was resolved and I had heat back. He followed through on his word and did a great job! They have been outstanding to work with and provide excellent follow up work when needed. These guys are the best. I decided to replace my aging furnace and A/C unit and both my brother and my sister had recently had Americool replace their HVAC systems, so I asked them to come out and give me an estimate. Pat showed up on a Saturday (since M-F is tough for me) and gave me several options. I could tell he was giving me some really fair estimates, but I did some checking around anyway. I didn't have to do much research to see I was getting a really good price. I ended up having a really long email exchange with Norm (the owner) about my options, and he is really a patient man. I tend to research things a lot before I make a decision, and he was more than willing to put up with my endless questions! I ended up getting a more basic system than Pat had suggested, but Norm agreed that for my house and requirements a single stage 95% efficient furnace with a heat pump would be just fine. I decided to do my own duct sealing to save myself a few hundred dollars, but I can now say that was a mistake. Just let them do it! Norm sent up Brad (his brother) and his crew, and they worked for about 11 hours on probably the hottest day of the year to install my system. Great guys, and they know what they are doing. There were a couple of small issues that I noticed after they left, but Brad was back the next week to take care of them. I can't say enough good things about these guys. They are about 50 miles away from my place, but didn't hesitate to come up and take care of a few small issues. These guys are honest, knowledgeable, fair and friendly! I had the furnace checked when I bought the house a year ago. (everything is fine they said). I almost didn't have it done this year but decided to go ahead. Thankfully I did. I have not had much luck with service people in this area. They either don't call back, don't show up or try to charge way more than they should. Kevin found an issue that he was perplexed about and was even kind enough to go under the house to confirm his suspicions. He found an extreme kink in the pipe going to the heat pump. How no installer or inspector never saw this problem before is beyond me. Or else I have a giant rat under there bending pipes. He was not only very kind, and in my opinion(remember by now I'm skeptical of service people) very honest but was also extremely fair in his estimate of cost as well as stuck very close to what his estimate was. I would highly recommend this company and Kevin. They are luck in my opinion to have someone like him working for them. read more

I asked Americool to come and give me a second bid on a furnace that another company had told me had a bad heat exchanger ...maybe. The other company said it is bad , it can give you carborn monoxide poisoning and you can die. Geez , that would be a good reason for me to trust a first opinion and join their"club" for a discounted rate. Fortunately, I had a funny feeling and decided to call someone else. Americool out of Rochester was on the PUD list of contractors to use so I called them. They were very sympathic and understanding and offered to come and give me a free 2nd opinion. Chris came out and took a look and did not find anything wrong with it. He took the time to explain things to me with no pressure. I did ask how much it would have been if the heat exhanger was bad. I was under warrenty and the other company said it would be $1200. I was told with Americool that depending on the model, it would run $250 to $600. Huge difference! When I get ready to have it cleaned again or do need repairs, I will definelty call Americool. Suzy S read more
