They're getting more than the 1 star from us because the manager was true to his word and quick to action. Our server tried her best in the busy restaurant and we were grateful for her efforts, but I don't honestly feel that they weren't ready for the amount customers they had this morning. Our family were patient and understanding when she brought the wrong drinks. And when we realized we didn't have silverware, I simply asked for some from a passing server. When the fries were still half frozen, we simply asked for them to be made well done. It's food...it's not worth being rude to human beings. But when our server took our credit card to the front, and then came back almost 10 minutes later telling us they were "looking for it because she lost it and can't find it"...we got a bit irritated. I decided to leave since I'm easily embarrassed, and let my husband wait for them to look for it. My husband called me a bit later and told me that he had stood off to the side for another 10-15 minutes while he was repeatedly told "I don't know what to tell you, I don't have time to look for it". Just call your bank and cancel it." and was dismissed while the lady at the register seated more patrons and cashed out more checks. He tried to explain that he doesn't have another card and cannot wait 2 weeks while a new one is mailed, and she rolled her eyes and ignored him. Finally the manager was called over because my husband stood by the checkout waiting for her to acknowledge him again, and the manager told her "just don't charge him". My husband explained that was nice but is a moot point because we have no other method of payment and she got offended and snapped "he already said you won't be charged. Just leave your number and I'll call if I find it. We're busy" My husband said he wasn't leaving until they actually stopped to look or let him look and she GLANCED down and grabbed it off a shelf and showed it to him and said "oh...is THIS it?" She then immediately swiped it and charged him after she was told not to by management. I called up to ask the manager about the attitude because I was irritated she would be so rude and not even look for his card before insisting he just call the bank to cancel it, and was told they would reverse the charge for our breakfast which we definitely appreciate. So I haven't had this app long and Americus showed up as a recommendation and I guess I can share my experience. My partner and I, including friends and families love going there. The food is great, and the waitresses can sometimes talk a lot in the back but overall it was great. Until we did a carry out for our family. We ordered a lot of food- we asked for no tomatoes on the club and chicken finger pita because my partner is very allergic! We didn't check the food because we thought they never mess up, well they did. They had tomatoes on everything and forgot my father in laws baked potato. All we did was call and the young lady was nice and explained that she would leave a note and when we come in we can be reimbursed or whatever because we didn't want to drive back up there. Well, about two weeks later we called to order and we told them there should be a note because that's what the woman said it would be and they told me there was no note, they got the manager and he told me that it basically didn't happen because he approves everything and there is nothing in my name. Proceeded to tell me that our name is not there, and just was not listening to us at all, we explained the situation over and over and basically said "are you going to order or no" . Americus is a local favorite in the Milford community as evident in the wait time on a Sunday morning with the church crowd. The place is great because of their moderate prices and good service. Definitely much better than a Leo's Coney Island or any larger chain. Portions are big for the money despite the recent price increases which were substantial on some items. My favorite is the Gyro Dinner which comes with gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, pita bread, choice of potato (fries or rice, etc) and then a soup or salad. I get the salad because I love their Greek dressing as it has hints of a berry flavor and you cannot go wrong with the cottage fries, ask for them crispy, or the curly fries. Other popular choices are the Greek salad, americus pita or omelets. Omelettes can get expensive though because they charge $.79 to .$89 per item so if you get tons of toppings it will be an expensive omelette. Monday through Friday they do have good breakfast specials that range from $2.99 to $6.99 I believe and they all come with lots of food. Those are served before 11am. I am usually not a fan of Coney Islands, but this one is the exception to the rule. I have been here a few times and never had a bad experience. This time, I was a very difficult customer. I am on the Whole30 plan so there is not much I can eat and I need things specially prepared. Rachel was wonderful and very accommodating. They let me substitute meet for hashbrowns and tomatoes for toast and they cooked my eggs and olive oil instead of soy oil. She also happily gave me a nice set up of hot water with lemon. Phoned in an order for a Greek salad and 3 coneys at 5pm on 4/22, ticket #2386482. Picked up after 10 mins as stated and drove home, got home and whoops, not my order. Drive back to get my order, check to make sure it mine, great, back home to eat. Get home the second time, open up the food, the salad was great as usual, but the coneys were disappointing. One coney had 6 pieces of onion on it and skimpy everything else. One coney had less than 2 tablespoons of chili and less than an inch of mustard, and the last coney had more red liquid in the box than chili, and zero mustard. I find that coneys generally have the same menu as well as taste and most like this have the same staff as well as quality. A very busy and successful spot for lunch. I've dined there many times with a favorite client. Get there by 11:40 if you can as they get packed at noon. Today I got the Large Greek Salad with Gyro meat and pita bread. I couldn't finish it and I'm a big boy. It was excellent. They use very tasty high quality feta cheese. What's interesting about Saturday and Sunday mornings here is the demographics that comes in and the times they arrive. Well to start I have been eating here for years so I'm not going to make this place out to be bad. The wait staff is always great and fast with the food, good atmosphere and usually always run into someone I know from time to time and that's great. There a few other good places I could go to in the town and yet I come back here...today I complained that my bacon was too cold, and for some reason it always is. They must pre-cook it, hmmm? Anyway just felt like less than freezing bacon today I guess. The waitress handed the bacon back to the cook, sitting at the counter I saw him grab a handful of bacon and toss it into the microwave, then upon removing it he stuck his bare finger in it to check the warmth of if. They kind of Laughed about it as they saw me looking at them with a scowl and WTF on my face. I explain this to the waitress she apologized and took it off my bill. At that point my meal ended I got up, paid my bill and walked out the door. I just don't believe that's the way to serve food even if it's only one thing that I've found bad.
