The chicken has been a local favorite for years. I enjoy it when other people have brought it to events but didn't appreciate it at all when we got it. The chicken was super salty, the wedges were under cooked and the breadsticks were bland. Will probably enjoy it another time when I am not paying for it! read more

Have been coming here for years. Best chicken in the area, IMO. Few times the order has had mistakes; no big deal. However on multiple occasions an older woman behind the counter was rude to me and other customers. Aggressive in her telling "we have too many orders. You won't be getting any chicken today." Busy events and last minute orders being pushed aside is understandable but being inconvenienced for simply requesting your product and being chastised is unacceptable. This lack of customer service has made several friends of mine stop coming here. It's your business, run it how you like. You lose customers because you are rude. read more

although they have decent food the older gentleman with a missing finger working the bait and tackle was very rude. first off I came from the lake with my bait I got this morning and they didn't make it, they were still fresh and he handled the situation very bad. We told him we just needed more bait and tried having us throw out our bait after the fact he put fresh bait in there. Then gave us a whole lecture on how we should never do that but as a bait shop owner they should know thats money down the drain. shoot they charge $8.99 for a dozen of 2 inch suckers. They definitely lost my business and will not recommend them to my fellow anglers go to lakes area bait shop or my tech tronics. read more

Holden's has everything that you need for going to the park. Food, drinks, supplies, fishing bait, frisbees, and more. Great people run this place. I wish that they offered breakfast sandwiches on the menu. In the past, I asked if the worker at the hot food deli to make an egg sandwich, but they said that they can't do that. It made no sense to me because they have all of the ingredients. Despite that, it's definitely a five star party store. read more

I give this big convenience/grocery/deli a 5-star rating after being here a couple of times. We buy our lunch or dinner meals here that we need not bring bulky barbecue stuff. We enjoy the rest of the day picnicking at Kensington park. We might as well use the spare time cooking at the park by buying our meals at Holden Deli. Chicken, pizza and ribs are sold and served hot. Fresh sliced deli sandwiches are available upon order. There also a good selection of cold salads. Beer, wine and other alcoholic drinks are available at the counter. For kids...there's fountain drinks and juice packs for them to squeeze. No fire wood? Frisbee? Fishing Pole? Wisconsin Cheese or Booze? They might have it. Bring cash or credit card. ATM machine is available outside the parking lot, near the road. Restrooms are clean. Hands down best carry-out party store in the area! Perfect place for a delicious summer meal to take home and enjoy with a cold beverage! We ordered a twelve piece chicken only and a cheese pizza plus two orders of their potato wedges and they offered to make the potatoes fresh instead of the already made ones placed in the heated food area. Everything came out fresh and delicious! (Plus since there is such a large turn over of food due to the demand, the food under the heat lamp is fresh since it is replenished quickly). The pizza is large, super cheesy, delicious and a great price! The chicken is hot, crispy, and juicy! Not dried out at all. Very well cooked! Best fried chicken in the area, always consistent. The potatoes are nicely spiced, and tasty! We also ordered some cold side salads. They are a great value and super delicious. I like the jalapeño potato salad, the bacon and broccoli salad, the blue cheese coleslaw, and the cold feta pasta salad. The food travels well since we don't live in the area. And our order will last two meals for a family of four. This is also our go-to place when we invite over the grandparents. The staff at the store is always friendly and helpful. The store has an amazing variety of craft beer and fun drinks! It must be popular, I've never seen it empty, but it has never been a long wait to order the food fresh when you arrive. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet. A couple years ago, the facility burned down and it's since been rebuilt. The new facility is bright, clean, and well-stocked. The deli counter in the back serves some great picnic items like broccoli salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, cole-slaw, etc. There are also fresh hand-made salads available if you want to have a light meal. Pizza is amazing. Not sure what sort of sauce they use but it's one of my favorites as far as pizza sauces go. The garlic bread is quite good too. If you plan to feed a large group in a pinch, call ahead to order chicken, pizza, or calzones. They'll have everything ready for you when you arrive. We're so lucky to have this place so close to us. We go here all the time, especially in the summer when we have people over to hang out at the pool. YUM!! read more

We live in Milford and have bought chicken many times from Holdens and I have to admit, it's very good. The only negative is that the people behind the liquor counter are not kind and they ring the orders. Last time, the kitchen perfectly packed the box with the food and the old lady rummaged through it to make sure there wasn't anything I wasn't paying for. Tonight we were taking a $50 dinner to friends who were camped out with their son in a hospital and the guy refused to throw in paper plates even though they have a stack of cheap ones behind the food counter. This is outstanding chicken! We picked up a 30 piece for a birthday party for around 20 people including kiddos. We barely had enough it was so good....seconds and thirds should be expected. We didn't try any of their sides but that's on our To-Do list. Way better than any KFC you've had, inexpensive, and crazy delicious. A 10 piece bucket will run you around $10.50 in case you need something quick for the fam on the way home. FIRST: Carryout Only Best Fried Chicken Dinners around! How can you beat a 3 pieces (large) of chicken, plank fries and bread for $6? I always get a 1/2# of their bleu cheese coleslaw They also have some awesome ribs. A Milford neighbor loves to pickup their breakfast pizzas too. My friends and I always get their chicken in time for the Sunday pm car shows next door. ALSO: I like their selection of cigars. TIP: Can be very busy in the pm, call ahead to order your chicken, 45 minute waits on Sunday (during the warmer months, sports events, etc) are common. read more

Tried this place last night. Next time I will call ahead. I always order just white meat and had to wait about 20 minutes because it was sort of late and they didn't have enough ready for my order. It was sooo worth the wait. The chicken was amazing! We also loved the breadsticks, cole slaw, macaroni salad and tater wedges that came with the dinner. I don't normally like potato wedges but theirs were super yummy. I also ended up picking up some seafood salad which was also delicious. Oh, and of course we picked up some slurpees to cool down! I have talked about trying this place for a long time but was skeptical because it's a party store. I figured, how good can it really be, right? I mean within the same store you can buy beer, liquor, bait, tackle, frisbee golf stuff, work gloves, I could go on. I am glad I listened to the advice I read here on yelp. Stopped in the other day to try the pizza in slice form. They only had the options of ham and pineapple and pepperoni and mushroom. I went with the latter because ham and pineapple on a pizza is just too weird for me. It was a very good, if doughy, slice. I think I may ask for it a little well done/extra crispy on the crust next time because of that. The size of it was not quite medium, not quite large. I just had one slice, but I definitely could have eaten 2. :-) One thing I could not locate was the 100%er plaque lauding the fact that they use 100% Grande cheese as they claim to on the menu (was told to look for this by another Yelper/NYC pizza connoiseur as proof of life). It is a big store though and I was too hungry to vet that little detail. It was lunchtime when I went and the pinic tables outside were packed with GM engineer-looking guys. It was blazing hot and not much shade was to be had. It'd be nice if they'd plant an extra tree or two out there. Noticed on this visit that they had a nice little wine and liquor selection. The prices weren't too bad either. They actually had my new fave cheapo wine (Crane Lake) in stock for $3.99 that Meijer sells for $4.49. read more

Great place to stock up on subs and salads before spending the day at Kensington!! Very clean, great food handling standards and the subs were loaded with meat and thick cut cheese for $7 each! (Tip, have them cut the sub in half and wrap separately. Could not finish a half in one setting). The German chocolate brownie we shared was so decadent! read more
