Updating my review. Great place, great food, great service! Thursday night trivia is the hilight of my week! They have live music and a DJ on the weekend. Tuesday nights are industry night so drinks are cheaper! One other night they have $6.99 burger. They do a Bloody Mary bar at brunch. Good place for the family or a night out!

Came with my family on a Friday night and had a wonderful time! We showed up a little early and missed the live music, but with our toddler at the table, we wouldn't have lasted too much longer. Service was great and food came out very timely. I ordered the short rib burrito which was very rich in flavor coming mainly from the meat, but the meal overall was lacking for $20. For a $20 burrito, the presentation and size was underwhelming. Would have loved to see a chipotle sauce, Guac, pico, or something on the side other than shredded lettuce and some Mexican rice. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals and experience but agreed that it was a little pricey for what we received.

My friends and I stopped here for a late lunch on the way back to Grand Rapids after shopping at IKEA all day. It was a pretty easy stop off the highway, and despite some construction in town we found parking pretty easily. It was pretty empty when we arrived, but by the time we were paying our checks it was very full with the early dinner crowd. Service was quick (maybe even a little rushed), my beer was nice and cold, and they have a pretty big menu. Seems like anyone could find something they like. I was actually torn between 3 or 4 different things, but settled on the Carl's Club sandwich. It comes with a side of tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were decent; not too oily, but tasted like they came out of a big bag (a little stale) though the menu says they are housemade. The salsa was pretty watery, so I didn't really eat it. The sandwich was good! A very generous amount of turkey, and I liked it on the 9 grain bread. My friend got the Lu and Carl's Salad that also looked really good. Overall, I'd say it was good, not great, but I would go again. Similar to another reviewer I debated between 3 and 4 stars, and since there wasn't really anything wrong I'm going with 4. I might end up bringing my husband here in a few weeks, since we need to go back to IKEA and this was a nice, easy spot to get to. Plus, I really want to try their wet burrito (I love a good wet burrito!).

Looking for a Dog Friendly restaurant in downtown Brighton that serves good food than Lu and Carl's could be the ticket for you. We stopped in here with our pooch and were welcomed with smiles and a bowl of water for our dog. Really love this concept as Brighton business district is really a pedestrian/walkers dream in that it is packed with good restaurants and Bars and is a great place to take a walk with Fido and get a meal/drink at the same time, also known as a two'fer! Doggies aside, the food here is good and service is prompt and very friendly. On this particular occasion we had a burger with fries, Chicken taco's, Short rib burrito and chicken fingers with fries. All the food was tasty and well cooked and a not a single person in our party of four was disappointed with their food. The environment is casual here with both indoor an outside dining and doggie wall of fame (Picture of patrons dogs hung all over inside the restaurant) is not to be missed. Overall a very nice dining experience where we will definately be returning in the near future with our poochie in tow!

Came here on the way to the airport from up north. Super fun atmosphere, the food was great, and everything was reasonably priced. I got the Carl club with a mimosa. The turkey on that club was the real deal!!! Carved turkey, not just deli meat. The chips and salsa that come with the meal are fresh, definitely not bagged chips and Pace. They even split a plate for my boyfriend and I and gave us individual salsa cups. Thanks!

Came here on a Sunday night around 7 and got seated right away. Great casual atmosphere with tons of TVs for sporting events. Inside & outdoor seating available; more inside than out. Outside tables are high tops. Food was fantastic but was a bit disappointed in the cocktails. Plentiful beer and seltzer options! For parking, I highly recommend the few public lots south of downtown.

Our party of 6 arrived about 130 pm. The outdoor seating area was open and bustling. The indoor space was less than half full and we had no wait to get a seat except that no one was at the hostess station. The bartender did greet us and another group relatively quickly but this was the only thing that was quick this visit. Without going into great detail, we were seated for about 10 minutes before a waitress came to the table. We ordered drinks and it took almost 20 minutes for them to start to arrive and 30 minutes to get all 6 drinks. It took over an hour to get food and the entire visit was almost 2 1/2 hours. Mind you this is an upscale bar not a multicourse fine dining establishment. We were told that they were understaffed due to people not showing up but from what I could see they had 2 servers and a bar tender for about 15 active tables. Our waitress, while nice, was inattentive, often leaving us with empty drinks. The food was as good as we have come to expect as were the drinks when we could get them. I will say the chicken tenders my son ordered were over cooked but still tasty. Normally, I would rate this location as 4 stars but not this trip. Again, I hope this was just an off day but service like this again will result in losing our business going forward.

I had such high hopes for all the local praise. But was all down hill from there. The kids spaghetti was penne noodles and red sauce. Pickyier kids would pushed that away The smokehouse pasta was just a steak Marsala but how the onion soup was sooo good the pastas carmalized onions were at best translucent red onions that I picked around. As for the zukey melt. They brought it out with the disclaimer that it only looked burnt bc it's rye bread. Sure tasted burnt. With hardly any cheese or onions. Basically a meat Pattie. That was so bad in fact we didn't bother to bring the left overs home. Now I got left over pasta for myself and the kid. But the real no thanks never again was the bill. With tip it was $97. Which ain't bad I guess in today's world. But if I want a meh meal that leaves us all disappointed we could get a pizza from hungry howies for $15

They bring you bread with a cinnamon butter that is good but I don't understand how at a steak house when you order a loaded baked potato it comes to you "lukewarm", it kind of takes the excitement away! My steak was cooked properly or i'd probably give a 3 star, not for the service, but for food quality.
