It started alright - they came to assess the meter and fill the tank. I asked to only have it filled halfway and they obliged. Unfortunately, they mistakenly came a week later and filled the rest. They charged me for the second half despite me not wanting it AND my husband telling them not to do it (they ignored his request since he wasn't on the account apparently). I had to call them at least 10x to explain their error and have them remove the extra gas or credit me the charge. Each time they had some reason they couldn't accomodate me - even though the whole thing was THEIR error. Even weirder, it took my husband calling one time and they took care of it for him (eye roll). I'll never use them again. read more

Useless. One of the largest propane providers for business and residential -- and they do not recertify small tanks -- or any tanks, from what their agent said. I called in and first got routed all over creation by their little auto-teller device, then got an actual human who routed gave me a new number to call and then transferred me (nice) to somewhere where the person ultimately told me that Amerigas -- whose entire business is everything propane-- told me they don't certify and that I should "search around the internet". Unsurprisingly, ANOTHER bad review for Amerigas. Why officials haven't gotten involved to get this company to pull themselves together is shocking. Our review is virtually identical to Robert S's. We have propane for water heating, cooking, and as the primary source of heat in our cabin that we use as a vacation rental. I scheduled delivery when our tank was at the suggested 30% (28%, technically) on 9/17. We were given a delivery timeframe of 9/19-9/27. On 9/28, I emailed with no response. On 9/29, I emailed again with no response. On 10/1 I called to ask where our propane was. We were down to 18% and worried our guests would lose heat and warm water. The rep apologized profusely and told us he would expedite the order for the following day's delivery. On 10/4, I called again because we still had no delivery. We were told that it was rushed and they weren't sure why we hadn't received it, but it was scheduled for that day. We called again 10/5 (today), multiple times and had our call escalated. No one had a straight answer until I demanded a time for at least a call back. They did call back, but told us it would be delivered 10/7. 10 days late! No discounts offered. Now, had I called to order and needed a rush, I would be expected to pay a $200 fee, which I've done. It seems they only deliver on time if you pay a premium. We have more guests checking in on Friday and I am horrified to think that they may not have heat, warm water, or the ability to cook! This company is criminal and needs to be shut down. For Vashon clients, I recommend looking into Suburban Propane. They are more expensive, but apparently you have to pay more to get timely delivery with Amerigas anyway. read more

Bottom line: Amerigas is wholely incompetent, corrupt, or both. 1. I should have looked at the Yelp reviews first. 2. The only reason I'm giving them 1-star, instead of zero, is because the representative that did the site survey seemed honest, albeit a bit odd. Where to begin...cut to the chase: A. Soon after creating my online account I noticed that there was a second address listed under our account in Wyoming. We live in Seattle. They could see which representative added the second address but had no idea why. After several attempts to get it removed, I told them to delete my account. ...it was their suggestion because no one could figure out a way to remove it. Lame! B. The first two scheduled Site Survey dates came and went with no one showing up or even calling. On the third attempt, they [at least], called to reschedule. C. When the guy finally showed up he suggested I should shop around. Interesting. However, he was knowledgeable and I learned a lot. D. I'm saving the best for last; A week later I get a bill in the mail for $77.06, which, BTW, was indicated as past due! No one [in sales] so much as mentioned any fees for a Site Survey. I guess they were just hoping I would pay the bill. Not! I spent an hour on the phone getting the charge removed. I can only imagine what it would have been like if we had hired them to do a system install or needed service. read more

Worst experience. 1st they gave us a delivery date of a week and they didn't even manage to deliver in that week on top of that they didn't have enough to fill the tank even though they had someone come out to inspect the tank prior to filling and knew how much was need. So on the 2nd delivery the lady filling the tank didn't know what she was doing, they brought her from Texas to help and she only be trained about a month and never filled a tank under ground. With she caused a leak and said she didn't know what to do called her boss and they were sending a repair guy out, which took him over 2 hours to get here with our tank leaking. He got here and was very panicked when he smelt the propane. He said she NEVER should have left. And that it was a VERY DANGEROUS situation. On top that we tried calling to complain and NO one had ever called back (left many many messages) Bottom line DONT use this company. This company has the worst dispatch operations/delivery service ever. If you can get your propane from someone else, please, please do it. After multiple calls (seven to be exact), we still cannot get anybody to call us back or deliver our propane. And we are on automatic delivery and were promised 1-day expedited service and a prompt return call from the driver. No calls, no delivery, nothing. If we were not on a pre-pay plan, I would switch immediately. I guess since they have our money they just don't give a crap. The poor customer service reps claimed they had no way to let us speak with a supervisor, so that got us nowhere. Can't shower, can't wash dishes, can't heat the house. Since they are not fulfilling their contract, I have no choice but to seek assistance from the state attorney consumer fraud division. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

I wrote a review about Amerigas shortly after stooping my service and telling them to pick up their tanks. 10 months later after numerous calls they picked up their tanks and had the nerve to send me a bill for $296 for pickup. Amerigas would not fill my tanks without payment first, and would not put me on a regular filling schedule for reasons unknown. I have great credit (800 +) The only reason I can guess was that delivery in my area was inconvenient. Randomly Amerigas debited my checking account the $296 without my approval. I scheduled a delivery via the online portal when my tank got to 30%. That was over a month ago. Since then I have called customer service more than 10 times to beg for a delivery and every time they tell me "you will be scheduled in the next 24 hours." I have heard nothing and we still have no propane. I'm going to run out probably today and have no heat, hot water or stove for my family in the middle of winter. This is the SECOND TIME Amerigas has left my family stranded in the middle of winter. We have been customers of Amerigas for 18 years here in Tacoma, WA. When I used to call for a refill a human would answer. Now I have to go through a long recording and lots of frustration just trying to speak with a human who is now at a call center in Arizona. We were at under 10% and I was told it would be 7-10 days due to weather, which was strange considering it has been sunny and warm for weeks. I went ahead and scheduled. I heard nothing from Amerigas and 12 days after scheduling I called to see why they hadn't come. Now they are telling me it will be another 7-10 days! Then the operator said she would look into it if I would hold....which I did. Then she disconnected me. I'm done with Amerigas and will find a company where a human answers the phone and I don't get jerked around. read more

We moved into our house in July, and the previous owner was using Amerigas so we just decided to stick with them to make things easy. Unfortunately, we have had nothing but issues with them. From the beginning, I waited quite awhile on hold to get our account set up and everything switched over into our name, and I was told that it would be a process so that they would end the call so I didn't have to wait, and they would call back later that day to set up an inspection appointment. I waited a week and never heard back, so I had to call back and wait on hold again only to find out that nobody had ever set my account up and they really just ended our call and didn't do anything they said they would. So we finally got everything set up and good to go, and we get the inspection done, and days later receive a bill in the mail for almost $100 that we were never told was coming. We called and were told it was an inspection fee, which we would have been fine with had we been given notice, but they did not mention charging us and gave us the impression this was something they had to do so we wouldn't be responsible for a bill. They did make this right, but we had to speak with a manager and this call took hours. Every single time we have called to schedule a delivery, whether it's the hold time or the employee, it takes a minimum of an hour and a half and we have had to speak with a a manager probably 8/10 times. Their hold times are inaccurate, it starts the call saying you will be waiting 1-10 minutes but it is never less than 45. Last time we called we spent an hour on the phone with someone who did not know what they were doing and tried to charge us for the full amount of our tank, which would have exploded our tank. They have had issues with the card reader several times and when this occurs, they DONT SCHEDULE DELIVERIES. They refuse to schedule until they are able to charge you which is ridiculous- there's been times where we thought we would just have to go empty and wait for their card reader to be up and running again. Even though they could have sent a bill, they know where we live?? One time we were on hold for 2 hours and then someone answered and hung up, so we waited on hold for another hour and a half. They ask for notes to put in the account for the delivery guys, so we asked for a call 2 hours prior to delivery so we could be home and ready and unlock the gate, and then one morning someone is randomly knocking on our door around 8am, we didn't receive any call, and they said they didn't have any account notes for us. Last time I tried to pay, the employee tried several times to charge my card and said something was wrong and that I must have been saying the numbers incorrectly, we insisted we were saying them correct and that it should be working and it got very irritating, so they transferred us to someone higher up and we waited on hold for almost an hour and a half, just for them to take our card info and successfully charge us. It's been a huge waste of time working with this company. It is also extremely frustrating, we just had a delivery last week and I realized that they had charged me for the initial amount they expected to deliver, but never went back to adjust it to the price of what they actually delivered. I waited about 5 more days to see if it was just processing, until finally we called today and found that they had no plan of giving us a refund of the difference. We had to actually call ourselves, wait on hold AGAIN, the woman literally asked how much I was charged and had to do the math for how much I should have been charged, then she wouldn't even refund the money back onto my card and said she would give us the credit for our next delivery. It is no way to run a company, we are definitely switching to a different company before our next delivery. read more

I was on auto delivery for propane. We were supposed to get a delivery on Januray 20th. On February 8th I called to verify where our delivery was and they said it was coming. I was down to 5% propane, called every day of the week, was told I was moved to emergency delivery service and would have a refill within 24hrs. No one came that whole week, called every morning getting the same response, "just wait 24hrs they'll be there". On February 18th someone finally showed up almost ONE MONTH after requesting a delivery. This was the second time this happened to me this winter. I went through this same situation in December. This company is garbage. Do not sign up with Amerigas, look elsewhere. read more

warning! stay away from this company delivery driver came different day than scheduled , used BIG channel lock as hammer to open/ close valve , ( it must be open/closed by hand) , left valve open and drive away ; I was there watching it all, telling driver that propane is leaking , on what she said: it's not bad leaks, just a little, and drives away, 1/2 hour later we smell gas everywhere, yard, neighbors, street... I called AmeriGas 3 times to com fix it, it's a safety hazard , waited all day, finally by 7 pm service guy came , admitted it was driver fault and they will refill the lost propane ( it leaked 5% of 1000 gallon tank) never happened! We have been with the same company for 20 years and AmeriGas bought them out a few years ago and now our price for propane is about $2 per gallon more than our neighbors pay with another company. We called and tried to get them to reduce the rate but they refuse so once our tank is empty we will be going to a different company. I never write reviews but I am pretty angry that they rip off their loyal customers by charging $4.72 per gallon plus the other fees. read more

amerigas became our propane supplier when they acquired northern energy. They begin to bill us with extremely high charges per gallon from the onset. When we encountered a gas leak the fire department said to contact the fuel supplier and have the tanks replaced. We where going to sell the house and decided to cancel the contract with them, rather than leave the new owners with amerigas and their high prices. They charged us with a removal fee and the tank rental fee which was for the coming year. When contacted they said they understood the error and told us the amount due, which we paid and they closed the account. We were then billed agin for the tank rental and when contacted said they understood the problem and sent the bill for review to a supervisor. We then got billed for the tank again as well as a $36.00 late fee. When contacted they said that the billing was correct and that they could not do anything about it nor correct for the late fee. I told them I needed to speak to a supervisor and they said one would call me back within 24 hrs. The issue is still unresolved. Amerigas is a really big problem. Avoid them if at all posible. read more

Beware **Company came out today and disconnected our tank to hose for house and put a lock on it so can't be hooked up. We own the actual tank!!! And owe nothing on our bill... all current!!!! No phone calls, no contact at all and you just send someone out to disconnect and lock it! Tried to call to complain and no one cares! Cancelled our service and the lady on the phone had to ask why !!! Really !!! Well because you just sent someone out and turned off/disconnected/locked our propane tank! Ok let me first day when there's a problem with Amigas they are on it.I had bought a tank of propane from 711 near my home,over the night it had all leaked out of the tank . I made a call to Amigas and after giving my info I got a call from Pierre which he lives in Graham Washington stating that he was going to bring me a fresh tank of propane man what a long ways to Tukwila for one little tank of propane so I tried a couple of 7-Elevens to see if I could get them to switch the tank but none of them would. It was already 11:00 at night and Pierre hands down said he would bring me a tank within 3 hours and that's exactly what he did I cannot believe that AmeriGas has their employees so dedicated that they would bring a single tank to a customer that needed it Pierre is top of the line employee and they're very lucky to have somebody like him he didn't complain one bit about what time it was he didn't complain about anything bringing it to me and it was here within 2 hours and I'm not going to freeze tonight my dog's not going to freeze tonight wife's not going to freeze tonight and Pierre is the reason why. He works for AmeriGas in Pacific Washington I don't know Pierre other than what he done for me tonight but he is one heck of a guy and I'm sure that he'd be a great guy to have as a friend AmeriGas is lucky to have him give him a raise move him up in the company he deserves it thank you Pierre well everything you're top model employee thank you and keep up the good work read more

Tried calling Amerigas multiple times to remind them that I've been told by them that their service coordinator needs to call me. I never got a call back. No response from Amerigas at all. No help from Amerigas. It seems like Amerigas doesn't want a customer, no matter how many times I told them that I need something to be done and am willing to pay full price for it. They fail to have their "service coordinator" call me and to set up a second appointment to start on work. THIS NEVER HAPPENED AND I'M SURE THIS NEVER WILL. It's very frustrating and I hope no one ever goes to this company because these people fail to do everything they say they would.
