I am filing a complaint with the Michigan Attorney General against this company. They no longer give you access to a local office. You can only call their phone center in Kenya, which is numerous given they are named, Amerigas. They did not autofill my tank in the dead of winter. Thankfully my daughter checks our cottage and saw that the heat was off due to no propane. I immediately called and was told they could not fill it for at least a week. I had to pay a huge amount of money to get heaters in my home to keep the pipes from freezing. I called another company and they brought a tank out the next day. I called Amerigas to have the tank picked up and was told there would be no fees given their error. In the meantime, while the tank sat on my property, they charged me a rental fee. I called again to Kenya and was promised it would be picked up and no fees assessed. The tank was not picked up until May. At that time they sent out another bill, charging me a termination of contract fee, a technician fee and a pick up fee, costing a whopping $652.54! I have called so many times on this it's utterly ridiculous. I have been told there are no records of my calls and that the fees are legit. I am in the process of filing with the Attorney General of Michigan, who has already been involved in numerous lawsuits against this company that they won. I called their resolution department and they only removed the technician fee. Unbelievable that they would not autofill my tank, cause me to have to spend thousands of dollars to keep my pipes from freezing, promise me repeatedly that the charges would be dropped and still claim I owe a tank removal fee and early termination fee. Amerigas is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I saw that we weren't the only ones they let run out of gas and ended up with frozen water pipes. DO NOT USE AMERIGAS!!! Customer service is abhorrent. read more

We have an auto fill contract with American-gas. We have made our payments every month. Our tank got Dow below 10%, we started calling to get it filled. We found out you cannot talk to anyone local. All the calls go over seas! So, here we set, our tank is empty, the furnace is not running, and no delivery! Even though we told them it was an emergency. The reply from the person overseas was "We will put in an emergency ticket". I have an expedited date of Jan 28th. They of course didn't show up on that day because it was a Saturday. Now, it's Monday, 13 degrees out, so far no delivery. Think twice about a propane company that will not accept phone calls, but sends them overseas to be answered. DO NOT USE AMERA-GAS!!!!!! So I started out with Amerigas when we bought our home in Charlevoix in 2018; I encountered problems with them when, after a couple of years and my propane costs were nearly $3 gallon, to inquire about getting a lower rate. Customer service kept me on hold for an inordinate amount of time [about twenty minutes] only to come back and tell me that they had neglected to invoice me for a fill two years prior, and than I needed to pay that bill [around $500] right away. Not encouraging. As I found a much better rate with another company, I ended my service with Amerigas. They claimed ownership of of the tank that was built in 1986 and wanted to pick it up. After they did so I received a bill for $149.99. Lesson? They will stick it to you every way they possibly can. read more

The Office staff Michelle, Ken and others have always been courteous and helped me in any questions that arise. This is the local Petoskey Office. However Corporate downstate seem to care less about the customers here in Northern lower Michigan. Corporate has tied the hands of the local office personal that deal day to day with the customers here in Petoskey. However they, ( Petoskey Office) still deal with me and have solved any problems that have arise. Being a customer (two places) for over 30 years they still do their best to be competitive with other companies. I have never waited more than a few days to get a refill and I'm on a will call basis. Because of the friendliness, and professional office staff and delivery drivers, I have stayed with this company. read more

Customer for appox 10yrs. It was always a challenge to get pricing that was fair. Every year I had to call to get better pricing. Corp business plan must be to go high with pricing in hopes they don't complain. Watch out for hidden charges. read more

So unimpressed with Amerigas' delivery service. We used to have a different propane provider, but when we moved in the winter, we had to use the company that was already set up at our new home, Amerigas. We don't use enough propane throughout the year to be on auto fill, so we have to call in for delivery every time. They take payment over the phone before they deliver and then wait to deliver upwards of 10 days. During that time, what should have been plenty of propane to get us through a regular delivery wait period, it quickly drops and they become angry with us for "waiting so long to call" and try to charge us emergency fees. At the very least, they should not charge for propane UNTIL it's been delivered. Maybe that would encourage faster service!! read more
