When the ex (aka cheater) moved to Brandywine we tried to find fun things to do on the weekend because I used to tell him all we did was eat out. Life with him was always a date night at a new restaurant or lounge, after a while that gets boring. With a 15 age gap I wanted more action and so he obliged. Both being competitive, we love a challenge, so bowling it is! Got to give it to the old man he beat me! But rightfully so he better be a better bowler than me with 15 years more experience. This is a run down bowling alley but it does the trick. We got there when it opened so no crowds and great service. On the smaller side but does the job. There are 32 lanes in this facility. The opening hours vary from week to week and there are a lot of leagues here at varying times. On some days almost all lanes are occupied by a League and the remaining two lanes are reserved all day. The usual pattern of "Slop Shop" (not bad food but definitely not 5-star), arcade, bar and Pro Shop exist here. The food is edible, nothing really special (some of the seasonal flavored drinks are a hit, though. The current Caramel Apple Lemonade is amazing). The Pro Shop has good staff, easy to ask for and purchase whatever you are looking for in relation to bowling. When you have a ball custom drilled, they will ask up front if you want to throw with a hook or a straight ball. They will give you some guides to making it easier to bowl with better scores. They typically don't try to upsell you anything you aren't looking for. If your ball is damaged at this facility while bowling, you can take it to the front desk, tell them which lane you are on and the Pro Shop will try to repair your ball (depending on ball type) at no charge to you. The Bar appears to have a decent variety of alcoholic drinks to choose from. Not being much of a social drinker, I rarely check out the menu, so can't provide a fair assessment of it. From the "Slop Shop," when you order food, they will ask which lane you are on and if you are a League bowler, they will give you a 10% discount on the price. When the food is ready, they will deliver it to your table. Fountain drinks have free refills. On a frequent basis, when using the Men's restroom I have noticed fruit flies around the urinals and the floor is in constant need of being cleaned. Watch your step, as the floor is wet most of the time. The Arcade here is fairly small, a limited selection of games to choose from, especially if you don't want to play for tickets. Because this business is packed to the gills often, the Arcade is needed as an Escape route when there are too many people in the center lanes just hovering around everything. There are 3 entrances to this Bowling Alley. One double door by Lane 1 and the Pro Shop, two double doors in the middle and a third by Lane 32, which is more often than not locked. While there is no Smoking allowed in the bowling alley itself, there are people hovering by the doors for a quick smoke, which is technically not legal but no enforcement is there. (State law is no smoking within 20 feet of doorway entrance) The last mention I want to make is some of the lanes have frequent errors: balls get stuck, when pins are placed, some will drop frequently, forcing you to do a complete reset, if the touch panel is working at the lane. If it isn't, you have to signal the front desk to reset the lane...again and again. If you throw too many gutter balls, your ball will get dinged up pretty badly. There is a decent amount of oil placed on the House lanes and they make sure to re-oil the lanes an hour before a League is supposed to start. Sometimes the staff seem to be overworked and frustrated but they do their best to address issues as they happen. They try to take care of the facility as best as they can. But when 30 out of 32 lanes are locked out because another League is using them, it can frustrate people who want to go there to either practice or have fun without a whole lot of other people around them. Another thing that is not heavily enforced is making sure people are using actual bowling shoes instead of street shoes. Have seen people bowling with Crocs, overly inflated rubber shoes and even the current fad of barefoot shoes. As far as "Bowler's Etiquette," it just simply does not exist. While it is customary to allow neighboring aisles times to bowl without distraction, some people just grab a ball, race up to the foul line and throw it, not caring about anyone else. Not to mention the number of unsupervised kids that are running around other lanes, screaming at the top of their lungs. read more

After a seemingly lengthy period I was contacted by someone who wanted more information so they could determine where the hiccups occurred. She also said she would be in contact with me so that we could return and they'd "make it up". We were open to the idea. Wouldn't you know it? They never contacted me. But the response was fitting. In rare instances like this I recommend finding places that appreciate your time and money instead. Skip this spot. read more

This place never has any open lanes!! I mean never! I live across the street and have tried on several occasions to patronize this bowling alley! I don't understand why most days are catered to leagues. We should be able to bowl on any given day at our local bowling alley. Glad I'm able to use to bowling alley on the base, although it's less convenient. On the occasions we have been able to use this bowling alley, the food is ok. The service is usually friendly and they also have a bar!!! Compared to on base bowling this location is a bit over priced. The shoes and the games. Scammers! Book so many parties that they can't facilitate regular patrons. The waitlist is a joke! They put you on it and then tell you to come back so they can charge you later for premium bowling at whatever rate they like! Allow the general public access to the lanes along with the leagues. Got to the lanes at 4:45 was told I can't bowl due to the leagues coming in. The bowling alley doesn't open up until 4pm. This happens more often than not. I don't have time to attend the leagues regularly like you need to. When I'm able to I like to go bowling and that happens maybe once or twice a week. It would just be nice to be able to bowl when you can without the leagues. This is the only one close to my residence and I'm able to get to quickly. read more

So Sunday's are advertised for unlimited bowling for $17.99 from 7 to 10 so we got there at 7 and didn't get a lane until almost 8:30 because of the league bowlers so maybe the unlimited will be better on a night when there aren't any league bowling. Amazing experience. We had a large group go from our church and the staff was super patient, understanding and welcoming. The assistant general manager, Ms K. Richardson was phenomenal! She was super patient and ensured our experience at AMF was excellent. This was my first time there and I will definitely be coming back with an even larger group. I have worked with some phenomenal leaders on Capital Hill in the Senate, in DHS, and in the military and I know true leadership when I see it and Ms Richardson is by far an extremely charismatic and peerless leader. She went above and beyond our needs and showed an abundance of patience with this despite our many request. I think this place is in business because it's the only game in town. They are in the process of redoing some lanes as of 8/6/22. The majority of my issues are fixable by mgmt. 1) Wait policy. They open at noon, we came at 1230 and were told 45 min-1 hour wait. My issue is not that bowling is popular it's that they let a who I assume is a regular use TWO LANES while 7 groups of people waited to bowl. Seriously. All so this one guy didn't have to wait for pins to re-rack. We brought this to the attention of the desk and they claimed they could do nothing. Complete and utter bullshit. you can tell your regular to drop down to a single lane. 2) Food wait. We put in for the appetizer sampler and it took twenty five minutes to get our food. Which is almost all drop in the fryer type food. How could it possibly take this long? We weren't even there right at open the place had been open 40 minute before we placed our order 3) System issues. We only played 2 games and the system could not handle getting the extra frame on 10. It'd let you bowl the 3rd frame and then didn't know to reset the pins for the next bowler. So if I picked up my spare in 10, get a bonus roll and knock down say, 7, the next bowler would show on the screen as ready to bowl but there are still 3 pins up and the pin lights show second roll read more

What a great bowling center! Walk up lanes, bar, and service was exceptional. I enjoyed seeing also properly oiled lanes. This is the most used in the area for leagues and part time bowlers alike. This bowling alley has got to serve the best food. The fries were salty, delicious and couldn't have been more fresh. The chicken tenders were good as well; And the street tacos were exceptionally seasoned. The loaded fries were the only thing that could have been better. The napkins were abundant! We came here because it was the closest bowling alley to us. We really wanted something fun to do on a rainy day. We paid $50+ for 2 games for 3 people. Seemed pretty high compared to what I've experienced in the past. The shoes we had were nice and clean which is sometimes rare so that's a plus. The balls they provide were okay. The lane however was poor. For someone who puts a high amount of spin or rotation on the ball, the ball barely moved an inch. Just slid straight the entire game. That was disappointing. We also ordered food and drinks. The food quality for what you're paying for is awful. We got the Street tacos and motz sticks. The tacos were tiny, cheap ingredients and cost $7. The motz sticks were also $7 but they were at least better than the lame tacos. They have a full bar available but without a bartender and have to go to the main game desk to put an order in for him to radio another employee to pour a beer. Overall, I'll travel further away to get more bang for my buck and adequate service. read more

I hadn't been bowling in so long, and the last places I've bowled have been trendier (can bowling places be trendy?) like Lucky Strike at Verizon, or places with special night bowling with music. Well, AMF Waldorf wasn't any of that when I went. It's a regular bowling place that I was used to as a child. The service is really good and friendly\, the people watching is stellar...Most importantly, it was just nice to see a bunch of families out having fun, from grandparents to little cute kids. I was lucky enough to have two really sweet families on either side of my own. We chit chatted with one of them quite a bit, and the kids were very talkative. So cute. Yesterday afternoon (Saturday), they had a special for up to 6 people to bowl for a specified amount of time, shoes, and pizza and soda for about $83. My older bro, the bowler in the family, said it was better to get that deal that paying for 7 of us in the normal way, so I went with that deal. It was super fun, we got service quickly when the bumper things (this is a technical term, people) wouldn't come up, and everyone had a great time. What did I learn? I gotta go bowling more often, especially with little kiddos. read more

For a bowling alley, this location is right on point! I have been here several times with different groups of people;children and adults! AMF Waldorf is clean for the most part! They could clean those bathrooms though, but I try not to use public restrooms! They have a bar that sells mixed drinks as well as offerings of appetizers such as wings and fries! The food is great for a bowling alley and the drinks aren't too bad! However, I love the specials they have! If you sign up for their emails, you will receive special bowling events with discount prices or unlimited bowling for a prefixed priced. After hours bowling is Friday nights from 10-close! The music is banding and it is unlimited bowling for about $15 or so per person! The Guy and I love going bowling then! Such a good time! Great location and great specials with AMF! I made an online reservation for 1 lane with 3 players for today at 2:00 pm. I arrived around 2:05 and went to the check in area to tell them of my reservation. Over the course of the next hour the employee looking in to me reservation first couldn't find the reservation, then the reservation was showing that it wasn't paid for but my card had been charged $115.97. So again after standing around for an hour she told me I would need to call AMF booking team to straighten out why their system wasn't showing that I paid even though I had a reservation # showing I completed the reservation. I called the booking team and the representative told me that I would be getting a refund for the amount for the reservation and because of the inconvenience I would get to redeem my reservation at a later date free of charge. Which doesn't help because the reservation was for a birthday surprise. I was told I would get an email once the refund was taken care of. Instead I received a confirmation email at 4:59pm as confirmation of my payment. I called the booking team back to follow up since this was not the email I was advised I would receive and the representative had no idea what I was speaking of and call the AMF Waldorf location to confirm if I actually used my reservation. They said because the manager that was there at the time was gone for the day there was no way to confirm if my reservation wasn't used other than having the specific manager look at the security cameras to confirm that I didn't actually play. This place has ruined my little cousins birthday and now are giving me the hardest time to get my money back. I will never be visiting this establishment again. Lane 20 was the worst. I honestly have never experienced such a bad bowling experience. Balls were stuck, having to wait over 10 mins for someone to fix for us to resume playing FOLLOWED BY THE BAR never going back up so the the pins could be set up right. Then we decided to use the time to buy food and that was horrible because they didn't even deliver it to our table! Called it over head and we had to go back and someone wanted to use the excuse of "short staffed" which could've been true but there you have the one telling me that dancing everywhere so maybe work and don't play and stuff would get done. I like this alley overall, especially because they have a full bar where the drink prices are VERY reasonable (about $6-$7 for the average cocktail). It is also usually easy to get a lane or two, and $2 Tuesdays are where it's at! The staff is generally very friendly but the snack bar is usually desperately understaffed so they kitchen gets so backed up, good luck getting your food before you finish bowling. We recently just had my son's 6th birthday party Sunday Feb, 10th, 2019. Let me tell you customer service was on point. They had everything already set up upon arrival. They also, took inconsideration the small requests I had. For instance, I wanted ends lanes, the bumpers, etc. Place is very clean, and brightly lit up. Not only do they have bowling but a little arcade. They have a bar for the adults. The manager Taniel was awesome as well as Theresa. Taniel was there every step of the way. Although Ms. Shirley and the entire staff are always exceptionally nice and pleasant there one employee who is ALWAYS difficult! No matter the day or time, there will be an issue! He always attempt to speak to us without the manager around to explain "why" we may not be able to get a lane or "why" he will have to make us wait. As soon as we bypass him and speak to someone else, there are no issues. He is such an annoyance! I thought it was just me but noooooooooooooooooo, I have personally spoken with 17 different bowler who feel the exact same way that I do. It's totally ridiculous!!! Have been coming to this place since I was in high school. It hasn't changed that much. It's relatively clean. The food is pretty decent and the prices are average I think. The video game machines tend to be not working alot of the time, but obviously we don't really come here for them. I take advantage of the Kids Bowl Free summer program. Sign your kid up, they get to bowl 2 free games a day, you pay for shoes. I also buy the adult pass (good for 4 adults) each to bowl 2 games a day as well for $27.00. The passes are good from June 1st to Sept 1st (or somewhere during that time) We try to go early as they have alot of daycare places who show up with BUS LOADS of small children who are loud. There's usually quite a few older people on leagues who gather and play too. (and they are VERY good players. puts me too shame with my under 100 score) lol This is the only game in town after Curleys closed down years ago (ahhhh, miss Curley's. Look I have bowled here pretty much all my life but the lanes here Constantly have malfunctions and the Brunswick A2's they use damage the bowling balls when they are thrown down the lane. This is a straightforward bowling alley, but it's a nice, clean one. It doesn't look particularly new from the outside -- nor do -some- parts inside -- but the facility is very well-kept, the bowling balls are mostly in good shape, the computers seem modern, and even the snack bar looks relatively new. This seems to be a major location for kids' birthday parties and they do a great job with them, even assigning a separate employee as the primary host of each party. The only somewhat-drawback I noticed was the lack of seating -- each lane has only two seats, and there didn't seem to be extra chairs around. (This results in a nice, open feel for areas not set up for birthdays, but means several people will be standing if there're more than two people bowling and the adjacent lane is also occupied.) read more
