Usually, I am very broke after Christmas. I searched for deals after Christmas for dinner Tuesday night because I hate holiday food. I found a number of specials, but this one stuck out: $1 taco Tuesday. I said, wait a minute, I can get authentic Mexican tacos for $1 each! I was sold! Made the trek over to Glendale Heights and found a seat. Was served complimentary chips and three salsas. Very good and spicy. Ordered two ground beef tacos, two chorizo tacos and two steak tacos all with cilantro and onions (they charge 50 cents extra for American made tacos). Received the food quickly and was made to order (at least it was hot when I received it). One ground beef taco was very good and tasty. The other, well, I couldn't figure out what it was, at first. Then I realized it was an Al pastor taco, that I didn't want, that didn't taste good, and had no crispiness to it. The chorizo tacos were very good and spicy. The steak tacos was very, very bland. I guess they were hoping the tortillas, cilantro and onions would give them some flavor. They were wrong. I guess you get what you pay for: $1 taco Tuesday. Then things got very interesting... I didn't get my check until an half an hour passed after I ate! My waitress decides to eat dinner before giving me the check! After she eats, she gives it to me. I pay. I sat the folder on the table. Another waitress, after 20 mins more of waiting, takes the folder for the exchange! The original waitress is now filling salsa to go cups! Since now 50 mins have passed, I asked for a refill of my drink. They don't give any refills! After all of that, I didn't leave a tip, because, remember, I am very broke after Christmas. read more

Soooo good!!! I'm a believer. So my 20-something son who thinks some MREs taste pretty good suggested Amigas for tacos a while ago. I ignored him. It didn't look like anything exciting to me and so I didn't go for quite a while. Shame on me for judging a book by its cover. On a Friday evening, I stopped in with my husband for a quick dinner. He went for the chilaquiles with rice & beans. I opted for a tamale and a couple tacos. We had attentive service for our whole visit. The food was pretty quick. And it was sooo good! Yes, sooo good! We liked it so much that we carried out $1 tacos the next week. They were just as good carried out and the ingredients seemed fresh, so we are now all believers. The only reason this place is even getting a star is because I can't place a review unless I have one. I'm really sad. I've been going here for years and this place had just gone downhill lately. Last week I ordered there and the lady had to retake it and then today I called in advance so I didn't have to wait so long and the same girl answers the phone, puts me on hold then completely forgets About me. I had already been on my way while being on hold and I made It all the way from county Farm road till Bloomingdales Road still on hold WHILE she continues to take everyone else's Order in the background. Hung up called back imagine this.... Line busy!!! so when I stood in line there to order it and it was my turn I put phone on speaker and called there and line still busy. Told her that's their line with me still on hold. She picked up the phone next to her, looked at it then hung it up. Not one apology, not one thing out of her mouth and looked at me waiting for me to Place my order. Disgusting. Seriously disrespectful. The older staff would never ever do that. I truly hope that she gets more complaints for her ignorant behavior and the owner does something about it before they lose more Good customers. read more

My lips are still burning from this food, and I eat spicy Indian on the regular so this is just unexpected from a Mexican place. Got the burrito suizo delivered and the box was covered in green sauce, which is not apart of this meal. It uses red sauce. Ranchero sauce looked like red boogers smeared over my burrito, was not blended properly with chunks of pepper still there. Burrito was soggy, not how I've had other burrito suizos. Also the beans were basically liquid and spicy as well? Could be because they sloppily put the salad and pico in the beans. Rice had no flavor. Description said it would be covered in cheese and come with side of guacamole, of which there was none. Absolute waste of $20 for the food and delivery. See pics. read more

First time visiting, food was good! Had the huarache with steak it was pretty good and the serving was a decent size enough for two if you want to split one. The staff was really nice and service overall was quick and efficient. Good overall environment, I can see it getting pretty busy around dinner time. read more

Went here for lunch the other day. I was pleased with my meal and will go back. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who brought out chips and salsa. Ordered horchata (which was not my favorite but serviceable). Ordered a steak sope, al pastor taco and barbacoa taco. Enjoyed the al pastor taco immensely. barbacoa was boring and the sope was good but actually a bit overwhelming compared to what I am used to. The steak had good flavor. Lunch order: This is the third time I've tried their Flauta Dinner. Again, I asked for them plain and they still covered them in lettuce, tomato, crema and cheese, this results in soggy flautas, it happens every time. For $15+ you'd think they'd give you the order you pay for and remember to give you your drink. Nope they didn't have the drink either. The food was generic and bland: the rice over cooked and flavorless, the beans watery and flavorless... Very disappointing. It shouldn't be that difficult to give a customer the meal they ask for and pay too much, in my opinion, for when the food is below average and the staff neglect to make the order properly. I suggest you avoid Amigas Restaurant. If you want much better, flavouful, authentic mexican food, for the same price go across the street to Burrito Parilla Mexicana. read more

We stopped in the other night for a post-workout dinner. They had apparently advertized at LA Fitness next door, so that's how my +1 heard of them. Service was really good - friendly, accommodating. We had forgotten our coupons, so the server/employee gave us some for next time. We had complimentary chips and salsa and ordered the guacamole. I wasn't a fan of the salsa - it was mostly liquid. The guac wasn't fresh and was underseasoned; a little salt helped it along though. We asked for a bit more chips (none really came with the guac), and she brought us a heaping refill. Wow! So nice! My steak burrito was so delicious - the steak was very tender and abundant, and the tortilla was grilled. It was very salty though - left me thirsty! Note there is some gristle in the steak, and the chicken can run a bit dry. The dining area was clean, and there was a TV for entertainment. I'll be back for another burrito! read more

I hadn't been here In a while. I remember enjoying the enchiladas and pambazo some time ago. The salsas are delicious. This time around I had the torta cubana and man it's one of the best I've ever had. Another thing, they are very generous with portions. The waitress/server/hostess here is super-nice. Located in the stripmall near LA Fitness, this is a healthier option than the neighboring Steak N' Shake. I actually heard about this place because one of the employees camped in the LA Fitness and was passing out flyers and free samples. Upon sitting, you get a basket of chips and salsa. The salsa seemed a little bit bland, and needed salt. We ordered some guac as well, and although I liked the consistency (not too gooey, not too chunky), again, it felt like it needed more seasoning. The tacos here are A-OK -- I do like that it comes with customary cilantro and onions, none of that Americanized crap of lettuce tomato and cheese. Overall, good meal. They have taco tuesdays where their tacos are $1 each. Score! read more

I have given Amigas multiple chances on many different occasions and they never fail to disappoint me over and over again. The most recent time was today. I went in and asked for 4 steak tacos with extra cheese and a side of chips and guacamole for pickup. I returned home to open my bag and see there was no extra cheese on my tacos, the steak was fatty and hard, and they gave me AN ENTIRE to go container of only guacamole, and no chips. The service here is also extremely bad, they are not intentive at all, even in person my order has been brought out wrong on multiple different occasions. They have always been extremely rude, and give attitude when I point it out or ask for what I actually ordered. I simply cannot stand this business the food quality has fallen extremely within the past 3 years and just gets worse every time I try to give them a chance. I will not be returning here, and I really hope you guys see this and pick anywhere but this establishment. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

I ordered food at 7:20pm, my bf went in and picked up what he thought was our order and that order took 40 mins to even get. When he went back to get our order they gave us food that was sitting out for a whole hour and an he didn't realize it was the same cold food till he got home again. Instead of cooking the food all over again and giving us our order fresh they gave us cold soggy food. When I called the manager said to come back and she'll give us fresh food. Keep in mind it is now 9pm I don't want to go back and neither does my bf who has to sleep already for work. The lady on the phone sounded like I was inconveniencing her life cuz I didn't want to go. The food is good hence the 2 stars. The service however, the worst I've had when dining out. We arrived and waited to be seated. We were sat and chips and salsa were brought out. A few seconds a different waitress came by and asked very rudely for our drink order. We asked what one drink was she rolled her eyes and told us. Should of left then but we just ignored it. Half our drinks came out and we were told two more were coming. 15 minutes passed. 4 waitresses we're hanging in the prep area giggling, laughing and answering phones. Seems like this place cares and emphasizes more on carry out. Finally we were approached again. Took our order and remembered we were missing drinks. She brought those out. After that we never saw her again. A new male waitress came in and he was on it. Only bright spot with service. I enjoyed the meal, the service will keep me from coming back. The owner needs to supervise or have someone supervise the young staff that would much rather gather, play around and give customers attitude than actually provide a pleasant experience to paying customers. read more

I got a crazy craving for huevos rancheros for breakfast this past weekend. This is strange, I know, because I can't have the rancheros part since I'm restricted from eating spicy and tomatoes! The boy loves huevos con chorizo, so I ventured out for a very Mexican morning! I seriously think that Amigas is the only Mexican place open in the morning! I'm glad they are! They are just a small place in the middle of a strip mall. I would say that this place could fall in the hole in the wall category! I did get some very confused looks and questions when I ordered my huevos rancheros sans the rancheros, but you gotta do what you gotta do! The lady was very nice and tried to accommodate me with their non-spicy salsa. She was so sweet that I didn't want to deny her sweet demeanor lol! I got home with our takeout breakfast and we feasted! You would think my breakfast was plain and bland! Au contraire mon fraire! The eggs were a nice medium so the yolk made a mess when I picked up the crispy tortillas! The beans had a good flavor with the cheese! There was a side of beans and rice with some cheese. Dunno why, but I always mix them together! The beans were a little runny and the rice was a little dry. On their own they tasted good, but the consistency just wasn't quite right. My tenancy to mix them together worked out very well for me here. The boy enjoyed his huevos con chorizo too! The eggs come scrambled with the chorizo and cheese on top. You get a side of beans and rice, though he doesn't dig beans so I got him a double side of rice. We had plenty of leftovers for the next morning too! I just cooked up a couple extra eggs for us to throw on top! We'll definitely be back to check this place out for lunch or dinner! read more

Great food! Unfortunately while sitting outside enjoying my meal a man walked past the no entry without a mask sign to pick up food without a mask. When I brought it up to the waitresses attention she said she did not notice. I pointed out that it is not just her responsibility to enforce the rule but everyone in the restaurant. Just then a young man walked out without a mask to which I said there goes another one. Her response was that he worked there and is the owners son. I got a torta and the bread wasnt even toasted at all it was just normal bread with fatty steak and hard avocado slices. My man got the chile rellano tacos and the chiles were soggy, and old.
