My husband and I work from home. Good Tequilas is located maybe 7 minutes from our home so we go quite often on n our lunch break. The host/server there, a male, is quite nice. The place is very quiet, just some soft Mexican instrumental music playing in the aground. Good Tequilas is quite large, although we rarely see anybody there right when they open (Monday and Tuesday they open at 3).. At least for women (so I imagine for men as well) and they offer Disabled parking and have a ramp at the entrance. The food, well, if you eat meat it's great. If you are a vegan, not so much. First of all they were deceptive and dishonest for many years. Most vegetarians would not think to ask like me Hindu (vegan), but the rice and beans were prepared with chicken paste. I mean, they could have been sued if I made a big deal out of.it. So anyway, the host/server today told me that they no longer use chicken paste in their rice and beans, they are pure vegan.. So I ordered a rice, beans and guacamole. The guacamole there is quite good. I tried a bite of the rice and beans, discreetly spit it out in my napkins. I love Mexican food and since I've changed my diet to pescatarian (with an addition of no dairy) it's been kind of difficult finding a good Mexican restaurant that fits the restrictions. Good tequila's Mexican grill had a few pescatarian options but what I liked most is they were able to substitute the original protein options for shrimp or fish. That let me know that everything is made fresh and to order. They offer complimentary chips & salsa. We ordered shrimp taquitos for an appetizer and lobster enchiladas for our meals. 1st impression was ok not bad, but the more we tasted the better it got. Everything was good. They give good portions and our left overs taste even better. The server also recommended the drink for my bf. It was really tasty & strong. His service was pretty good. He was really nice and accommodating but he did disappear a couple times Lastly, I loved the decor! The authentic Mexican flair was everywhere in this restaurant. So beautiful. Good Tequila's Restaurant is a nice meeting point and easy to find. Almost all lunch specials comes with beans and rice. They use vegetable oil vs. lard which helps a lot. The place is clean and very colorfully decorated throughout. Sebastian our server was so friendly and provided excellent service. The place is a casual place to have lunch or dinner. There are plenty of specials to choose from including vegetable, beef, chicken and chorizo. We ordered guacamole and queso cheese dip to go with the warm chips and salsa's. Both were freshly made and pretty good. We ordered the Burrito deluxe with chicken for our lunches. There was a generous portion of chicken in the burritos and the flavor was pretty good too. I came here once before and the drinks were good so I decided to come back. Well....the drinks were still decent....so it got an extra star. I didn't care much for the food. I was pretty disappointed with it and could barely eat more than half of my food. The shrimp tasted as if it wasn't fully cooked and the sauce that was used was so spicy I could barely eat it or taste anything else. I know that a red sauce was used but at other Mexican restaurants, they don't make it unbearable. The chicken was not that great either & tasted like frozen chicken was used. The queso we ordered was also C pretty burnt. We couldn't really eat most of it & then it got taken away without asking if we were done. I'm not sure if I will even be back. Even though the drinks were ok, I would rather spend my money at a place I can enjoy both my food and drinks. read more

Good Tequila's. Goodness. Moved to IL 5 years ago and finally found my favorite Mexican restaurant. Chips are fresh, the wait staff are on point and friendly. Lately, they've been giving out samples of the chicken chipotle soup and it's BOMB! It tastes homemade and just warms you up. I the chicken chimichangas are crisp and melts in your mouth. This last time we went for dinner, I had the steak and chicken fajitas. It was excellent! Portion sizes are good too. We went for dinner on a Friday and a live mariachi band came out and played, it was great! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants. read more

Solid Tex-Mex in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Separate vegetarian section of the menu, though it's very cheese-heavy, plus plenty of other options which offer your choice of chicken or various meats which could easily be converted (no nopales, sadly). In addition to a chile relleno, you can get a cheese enchilada, quesadilla (old school - a tortilla full of white cheese), cheese enchilada (folded tortilla with white cheese and mild sauce), veggie taco, veggie burrito, veggie fajita, or even veggie fajita nachos. Free chips and salsa (refills still free); salsa pleasantly mild/medium. My veggie dinner selection (one of two veggie dinner combo plates) was very mildly spiced; would have been a bit bland without the table salsa. My colleagues had the fajitas (generous portion, you're taking some home) and the taco salad (impressive-looking flour tortilla bowl obviously recently fried). Wouldn't make a special trip, but would happily dine here again, particularly when family used to Americanized Mexican food is visiting. read more

I ordered Quesadillas but what I got was, to me, a plate of barely edible dish of slop. The steak quesadillas were soft, the meat was full of grisle and hard to chew. It was served with Spanish rice which was pretty bad I've had Quesadillas at numerous restaurants in Villa Park at Simon's that were wonderful. I've had them probably at a half dozen restaurants or more. They are my go-to food when I'm not super hungry and I want something light but filling to eat. I couldn't even finish 1/4 of my food and I threw out the rest. This may be s good place for people of Hispanic descent but not for me. I don't know how they stayed in business. read more

Had really an excellent Mother's Day meal from Good Tequilas, first time tryong it. Our son and DIL brought us a banquet including a 1/2 gallon of Margaritas. Arizona Burrito, a ginormous plate of Nachos Supreme, and for me, the no-carb person in the family, Mar y Tierra Fajitas, side order of Chile's Torreados. However, when we went this past Spring and wanted to sit outside the rude host (who was our server previously) said they weren't seating outside because of staffing. Good Tequila is quite a beautiful restaurant. If nothing else, the art on the chairs is very historic to look at. The staff is pretty friendly, no issues and once they gave me an extra drink, just because they made extra. I don't want to ding them on this, but I just would like to see a slightly larger portion size if it's feasible. Besides that the food tastes good and fresh. That's why I want more, haha! read more

Very surprised and somewhat disappointed in this new restaurant. I have been driving past it often always stating that we needed to try it. They occupy the former IHop building and the remodeling they did is terrific. The decor and service is good, somewhat. The people are very friendly for sure. We ordered a dinner and an ala carte but both items we received were dinners. We couldn't tell them apart from each other due to their being covered in cheese, rice and beans. I had the dinner which consisted of a burrito, enchilada and taco. The taco was separate from the other items. It was a crispy taco shell and looked homemade. But it was soggy and flavorless. (Not just the shell but the entire taco.) This also describes the other items we received. They all tasted the same, like each other and no flavor. All the entrees are the same meat as a standard which is ground beef. I suggest you mix it up a little and change each item. They dont ask you what meat you want so you will get the ground beef by default unless you ask fo something else. The place was crowded when we arrived and the parking lot is often full when we pass by so we expected more. Especially with so many good reviews. The prices are very high compared to comparable places in the area. When ordering we experienced a rushness and confusion. They need to chill a little. The manager mentioned that they have been open for three months and that they have finally started to get busier. I don't want to contaminate their progress but need to speak my opinion. I rarely blow off a new venue after one visit unless it's a disaster. I will give them one more shot in the near future. Hopefully the next visit will win me over. read more

I'm being very generous with my stars only because I have a feeling that this restaurant has a lot of potential. I went here for dinner a week after they opened. The restaurant is decorated nicely and it's very bright. We were greeted immediately and we were sat in a booth. Waters and cups and salsa were brought to our table immediately. I'm very particular with my salsa and this salsa just didn't cut it for me. We were also given a little bowl of soup that was just ok. I ordered a frozen margarita and although tasty I don't think there was any alcohol in it. For dinner I ordered camarones al mojo de ajo. Garlic shrimp. It was very garlicky, too much garlic, but the portion was decent size and plenty of shrimp. I ate half and had enough for lunch the next day. My boyfriend had the spicy shrimp and he said it was good and very very spicy. Service was nice de, our server Nelson was funny and friendly. He came by a couple of times to check on us. We received a complimentary order of sopapillas. I was too stuffed to even try but I had a bite and they were yummy. We had someone stop at our table, not sure if it was owner or manager, but he was very welcoming and shared what the hope to do with the restaurant in the near future. I think that they will do great and I hope to check them out again soon. Hoping for a much more improved second visit. read more
