Yesterday, we did a three-hour session on my upper arm, during which she made conversation, checked in on my pain level constantly, and politely ignored the occasional tear that rolled down my cheek. She is friendly, professional, and meticulous in her preparation. I didn't hear back until one morning I was actually in Austin (perfect timing), and they said they could do it! I had wanted an inner lip tat for SUCH A LONG TIME but in my state, they don't do them... Long story short, I called them that day (a few hours after they opened) and Casey was available right then and there to get the job done! I got a tattoo from Randy when I was in town for a conference and had a wonderful experience! It was pretty much just me, Randy, my boo Richie K. for support, and Jill hanging at the desk and controlling the tunes--which was a great mix of 80s hits before switching to Biebs' new (at the time) album. It was only my third tattoo, but I've spent many hours in tattoo shops with others--Amilion was by far the most comfortable and welcoming. Aside from the relaxed and unpretentious vibe, I am really, really happy with Randy's work. We emailed about what I wanted before my appointment and when I arrived, he had it all drawn up with a color study to boot. This review is really for Drew as I didn't really interact with anyone else in the shop. I walked in to talk to someone about a tattoo, and Drew had something sketched up immediately and I was ready to be inked in just about 30 minutes. He was contentious about keeping the tattoo "pretty" so I didn't leave looking like a dude (my words not his). He worked fast but it didn't feel at all rushed and it was probably the least painful tattoo I have had. We chatted casually and he made me feel very comfortable, comfortable enough in fact to let him freehand a bit while finishing up the work. It healed beautifully in just a few days and I couldn't be happier. I will definitely go back to Drew for my next piece. read more

Who travels to Austin, TX for the first time EVER just to get a tattoo? This girl! *shamelessly points to self* For mamb - I mean, tattoo - no. 5, I chose Mr. Drew Cottom. His work was first introduced to me by my friend via the gram of Insta. Never in AMILLION (see what I'm doing there) years did I think I would get anything close to "American flash." But, his craft truly inspired my inner nerd to get one. You see, he has a way of mashing up some beloved pop culture figures/symbols with that ever-iconic, distinct style. From the get-go, communication was on point. I gave him my idea; he tweaked it to what was possible; and then he delivered! Drew is easy to talk to while you're on the table - gladly answering any questions, talking about life, and even giving food recommendations. I've been told I'm particularly good at "sitting," but the man works fast and efficiently. It only took a few days for the tattoo to heal, peel, and all that good stuff. Even after a year, it still looks as awesome as the day I got it. I would provide a photo, but it's a liiiiiittle close to some of the more - errrrrr - private parts. (MEANING, IT'S ON THE FRONT OF MY HIP Y'ALL BUT IT'S JUST WIDE ENOUGH.) For those with curious minds, it mixes roses with Kingdom Hearts. What did I say? I'm a nerd. There's a lot of stressful stuff happening in the world today.....the scariest presidential election I've ever seen, terrorism worldwide, effin PRINCE is dead. But there's one thing that'll make a girl go "Oooh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu......" and that is seeing HALF your piercing in your underwear and the other half nowhere to be found. And this at 8 o'clock on a Wed nite (ie, bedtime). This piercing not only has a lot of sentimental value but is still FUNCTIONAL. So, first thing Thurs morning, I'm on my trusty Yelp trying to find a place that not only sells jewelry (NO, I"m NOT going to Spencers, honey) but that also has knowledgeable staff that can look at my remaining ball and gauge what gauge it is. After all, it's been over 15 years since I had it placed and I've burned a few brain cells since then. I was vajazzling waaay before vajazzling was cool! So, when I saw all the rave reviews for Jill at Amillion, I knew it was the place. I was in luck as not only was Jill there but she was not terribly busy and even offered to put it back in for me (apparently I did a lousy job of that a few weeks ago or I wouldn't be in this mess). This is great news for a girl with a back injury that can't even get her socks on much less try to get my head between my legs to see what's going on down there. Jill was not only gentle and clinical for this procedure but she was skilled. That dang hole had almost closed already, but she was able to thread in a smaller gauge bar and save the day, and my good times. Jill for President, I say! I've been wanting to get a nose piercing for like 10 years. Remember... back when it was cool? So I finally did it one steamy night after having a couple of drinks and a lot of egging on. Jill was super professional, very educational. The place was clean, sterile and that needle went in and out with minimal pain. Four weeks later the thing is going strong - no infection (cross fingers) and it's adorable, if dated. After having my fair share of mediocre tattoos, and even going through the painful process of trying to get one of them removed, I set out to find a skilled artist that could restore my faith in good body art. After spending what seems like an eternity, I came across Karina Figueroa at Amillion Tattoo through a friend. "Could it be true?!" I thought to myself after looking at the beautiful images on Instagram. I immediately emailed her and scheduled an initial appointment. When I met Karina she greeted my husband and I with a pleasant smile and took us to an upstairs area of the tattoo parlor (that spiral staircase is badass). She asked me a series of simple questions about what I wanted to accomplish and what I wanted it to look like, which in my case was a shoulder cover-up and a Mandela/Floral arrangement. She asked to see the monstrosity and immediately mentioned that in order to achieve the best possible work, she would suggest having it lasered a few additional times. She then personally introduced me to Jill, who was the certified laser technician in the facility (who also does a wonderful job!). I continued a few sessions with Jill, after which on my last visit (fast forward a few months), Karina personally came down and took a look at the progress thus far and confirmed that we would be good to go for our tattoo session. Finally, the day came for me to get my tattoo. We walked in the door, and there was Karina waiting for us. She took us back to the upstairs room and we confirmed what I wanted to accomplish. A half-hour later and we had the overall design. I'm thinking to myself, "Damn, this girl is good!" A few design revisions later and some explanation on what she needed to do for the cover-up, and we were down to business. Now, I've had some artists that just dig in like you're going for a bone marrow transplant, but Karina has one of the best techniques I've ever seen - I barely felt a thing. 3 hours later, and she was done; to perfection! Bold lines, brilliant colors, very High-Def, and most important of all I couldn't see that old tattoo! Fast forward a few more weeks, and I couldn't be happier with the work. The entire site has healed nicely and I love showing off Karina's skill. Overall, I was extremely impressed with Karina's professional attitude, attention to detail, and most of all, listening to what I wanted. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for quality work. It's going to be hard not to plan a full sleeve in the future, but if I did, it would be Karina doing the work! read more

I had the most amazing experience here with artist Jason Masarik. I went with a Groupon (which is a strange way to build a tattoo artist relationship), but I had researched artist portfolios to find one that could do the artwork I wanted. I waited until the last minute, and Jason was still gracious in getting me in with time to spare. Once we started talking about the time he realized we would need more time, and set an appointment to do the artwork and start the tattoo. When I arrived I had to wait awhile, and many people greeted me and offered assistance, and were very friendly. When Jason was ready, we sat down and talked about the design elements, and began piecing together the work, which started out as just a jumbled mess of ideas. He patiently spent over 3 hours drawing and getting the design exactly, meticulously right, checking elements with me and working it out together, to come up with the most beautiful piece that exactly conveyed the feeling and look that I wanted, but didn't know how to express. It was a really collaborative process, and I'm still amazed at how beautiful it is. He then spent the time to get the outline done that night (even though it was late), and I can't wait to go back and get the color done to see the finished product. Jason (and the other artists) were delightful and welcoming, no one made me feel funny about the Groupon or my disjointed, but very personal ideas for the tattoo, and the whole experience was very positive. Jason did amazing work with this piece, and I'm thinking about another piece that I think he would do an amazing job with. I highly recommend both Jason and Amillion. read more

My boyfriend and I went in one sat night to get his tat reworked. We had been quoted outrageous prices elsewhere but they were so reasonable here. I was originally supposed to get a piercing, but i chickened out. But anyways, the tattoo guy, I forgot his name, but he was so kool and nice and dedicated to getting the tat just right. He spent like 10 minutes mixing colors to get the perfect shade of UT burnt orange. And he re-applied the stencil a couple times until we were all perfectly sure it was centered.
