I came a few weeks ago with friends. My friends were running a little late so I waited for them at the front of the restaurant. The servers were super kind and poured me some Syrian coffee while I was waiting. The place is absolutely stunning as many others have stated. The co-owner brought us to our tables and we chatted with her for a bit about how this restaurant came to be And she helped us order some starters. Everything was super delicious and fresh. We tried the salmon for our main, and it was our least favorite as it was overcooked. I was speechless at the atmosphere and design of this wonderful restaurant. It is truly an art piece. Aiman the manager took very good care of us, was very accommodating and made us feel as though we were family in his home. Something you don't get at a lot of establishments let alone a very high end restaurant such as this one. Diana was our waitress and was very accommodating and welcoming as well. We took her recommendations and we very happy! The staff are dressed to match the decor. This is a very tasteful establishment. We had an assortment of Taboleh, Kibbeh, Hommus with Seabass and Lamb Shank. We had the mocktails and a few desserts. It was all incredible. Aiman and Diana both made a wonderful evening for us. Bottom line: will I go back, yes. I think their staff may need some training on fine dining service but overall 4.5 out of 5. My friends and I (four of us) choose Ammoora to celebrate life and great news. We've wanted to try this place out since it opened for the 5-star level of service and ambiance. Fast forward to a recent Saturday evening, I arrived 15 minutes before our reservation. Upon my arrival, I was greeted promptly at the door. It was very welcoming. The decor is beautiful and tasteful. It takes you to a different place that doesn't feel like Baltimore. I decided to sit at the bar to get a drink before my friends arrived. I ordered a double Clase Azul and closed out my tab. Once my friends arrived, we were seated promptly. Here's where things were rocky. One friend ordered a double Clase Azul (I showed her my pour) and another ordered Prosecco. Our waiter leaves and comes back a few minutes later to let my friend know the cost of the class. I was mortified. She smiled and said she is aware and I pointed out that I am currently drinking a double. The waiter comes back with drinks. My other friend commented on how it was the worst Prosecco she's ever had. I said let's ask what brand it is. Maybe it's a bad brand? The waiter informed us they do not have Prosecco so they gave her Cava. Mortified again because why didn't they let us know about the substitution? She then asked for a Rose on the sweeter side and I asked for one also. At this point because of the drink issues, we still haven't put our food order in and I'm noticing other tables who were seated after us were being served food and we were starving. The waiter leaves and comes back a few minutes later to let us know they do not have a sweet Rosè. At this point, a manager did speak with us and I did let him know my displeasure. It's now been a while since we were seated and no food order. The manager said they do not have a sweet Rose but he will make something for us and if we do not like it, send it back with no problem so we ordered 3. My friends loved it and decided to stick with a Rose (which I loved). At this point, we were finally able to put in our food order and the service was a lot better. The manager did a great job of putting things back on track. My appetite was off at this point so I ordered basic items: Lentil Soup and honey Burrata (both dishes very tasty). My friends order salmon and a shrimp dish and enjoyed it. We finished our meals and drinks, closed out (no comps but didn't ask for one), and took some cute photos to commemorate our time. The last issue ended up being a restroom issue that I hope is resolved when I come back. And I am coming back but maybe I'll just sit at the bar versus a table. BAIT-N-SWITCH-OVERPRICED-SERIOUSLY MEDIOCRE FOOD-Went in October for my birthday. There was 13 of us and they put us at a long table where 7 of us had to sit against the wall with no way to get out to use the restroom unless all 7 scooted out. The table was also not conducive for good conversation. Really, really not good! Then they told us that it would be $85 per person for spreads, an appetizer, entree, and dessert but when we saw the menu there were up charges for certain appetizers and entrees (which would make it $100 + per person!)-never mentioned on phone or link given by email! Then they told us the dessert was no longer offered! My son brought a cake (not knowing to call ahead first) and we were told that there would be a plating fee for having the cake. We told them to forget it, we would just take it home. The food was at best mediocre for how expensive everything was. FAKE FANCY ALL THE WAY. To top it off, I spoke to a manager the next day to let them know about our experience and she took down my information and said she would like to follow up with me. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. We were so excited to try this restaurant that we were willing to make the drive up from DC. To say the experience was disappointing is an understatement. We ordered 4 hot mezze items: batata harra, sujuk rolls, musakkhan rolls and short rib hummus. The items were so disappointing that we decided to leave and not order anything else. The batata harra, which is supposed to be a browned and beautifully spiced potato dish, was horrendous. I would have rather had a Wendy's baked potato. The sujuk rolls were just pieces of sausage wrapped in thin bread and dumped on a bed of tomato sauce that was inferior to Rao's jarred sauce. The amount of effort put into the dishes was almost insulting. The meal was so mediocre that I was taken aback. He said a table in the dining room wouldn't be available for 30-40 min.We decided to sit in the lounge which was a big mistake.There were two groups of girls who were extremely noisy. I would NOT recommend this place! Food was okay but the service was atrocious and the ambiance was not as expected for a supposed fine-dining experience. We got seated in the lounge area, which felt like sitting in a hotel lobby. Main restaurant hall is nice, but was not offered or shown to us. When our mezzes came, waiter explained 3 out of four of them, and simply said I am new, I do not know what is fourth mezze. He did not show courtesy to go back check and let us know. Additionally, they did not bring out the pita bread for our mezze until 15min after they initially served it. We waited another 40min after finishing our mezzo for the mains to arrive. While they were good, I would expect better quality to a high-end place. After being there for 90 min, we ordered dessert, and after waiting for about 30 min, nothing came, so we told waiter, if its not ready, ignore it and bring us the check. Minutes later waiter came with the check, without the dessert included in it. We gave him credit card. Few minutes later the owner Jay came with the dessert apologizing, we explained the whole thing to him. Soon after another waiter brought us another check with the dessert price included in it. We told him that our original waiter has already taken our credit card, to which he said he will void the bill he brought. Finally the waiter came with credit card receipt and my card for signature, there was only one receipt, no duplicate for my record. We left the place, next day I find that my credit card was overcharged by $50. I called the restaurant two days ago to look into it. I am yet to hear back from them. Definitely this is not the service one expects from a nice restaurant like Ammoora, which desires to be Michelin mentioned. read more

I came to Ammoora on a Friday night around 6:30pm and had a delightful time. The ambiance was absolutely incredible - very open and beautifully decorated. When I read about the new restaurant Ammoora, I knew I wanted to go immediately. In a city that's full of diversity, I was happy to learn a fine dining restaurant serving Syrian/Levantine food was opening, and coupled with the chef's story of sharing Syrian food and being a TopChef MiddleEast contestant and I was sold. Reservation: OpenTable, potential for walk in at the bar Parking: Free Valet Parking Environment: there are two sections, one by the bar with small 2 seater tables with couches/chairs, seating at the bar and a main restaurant area further down the space past the kitchen. I will say the main dining area had a more vibrant and beautiful environment but the space by the bar was lovely as well. Both had modern, middle eastern inspired decor creating a nice atmosphere. If you can request, I would recommend sitting inside the larger restaurant area. Alcohol: medium sized wine menu, fully stocked bar and a cocktail menu with about 7 signature cocktails. The cocktails were good but nothing exceptional. Food: really really good. For us, the mezzes were the star of the show. The cold mezzes we got were hummus, baba ganoush carpaccio, a deliciously creamy red pepper dip called Muhammara. Definitely get the Muhammara. Hot mezze we got were the Betyi Sujuk rolls, Kebbet Karaz and Mousakhan Chicken rolls. All were delicious but the Kebbet had a truly delicious sour cherry reduction with dry mint. Finally the mains were Short Rib Freekeh and Samke Tajen. Would recommend the short rib, the tajen was good but not as great. I can easily see a share of a main and ordering a variety of mezzes, especially if in a large group. Service: excellent. Our server knew what the dishes were. Was attentive and even helped us break some change when we asked that was unrelated to the bill. Price: this is by no means a moderately priced place. For dinner with drinks, expect to pay at least 100 per person. Great for a fancy date night of special occasion. read more

They do have a dress code in place but I saw some people way more casually dressed than us. But if you need a birthday spot or any kind of celebration dinner, Ammoora has for you! They also quickly became packed so I'd highly recommend making a reservation. The service was also divine! Clearly it's a beautiful restaurant but being personally escorted to your table, having a waiter take the time to explain the menu to you, and frequently being checked on by the the management team really made us feel appreciated. Now for the food, it's some of the best Mediterranean food I've ever had. Each course was impressively fresh and flavorful down to the warmed puffed bread that came with the hummus. They didn't miss a beat with the details and the food was well worth the money. The hummus came with a yummy drizzle of olive oil and was very filling! For our second course we both ordered the lamb kabobs and it was the star of the evening. Had the most perfect grilled taste that I even enjoyed the little tomatoes on the side it came with lol. The rice underneath and yogurt sauce paired deliciously with the meat. I will say the baklava was pretty average, on the sweeter side and not as soft as I'd like. I love food! I love Lebanese food. This place is beautiful and the cocktails before dinner at the bar for $16 were delicious. We ordered original hummus and the eggplant carpaccio. They were good and very basic flavor profile. There was no wow factor. The puffed bread was warm but again basic. The entree selection was limited with four items; short rib, chicken skewer, salmon and cauliflower. My husband and I shared the chicken skewer and it came with two skewers with 4 pieces of chicken each. $42 for 8 pieces of cubed chicken? It came overtop 5 pieces of thin asparagus and a green sauce over it it. It was cooked well but not anything special. I couldn't even taste anything in the green sauce. Rice was a side order for $18 and yes, the rice was flavored with things in it but I can't even remember because I was so focused on the small portion. We did not finish the rice even though we were still hungry. We looked at the dessert menu and attempted to order but the one we wanted took 10 min to make (something with cheese in it) and we didn't have time so we paid our bill and for $130 (2 apps, one entry, one side, one beer and one non alcoholic drink later) we were not full and saying how Lebanese Taverna has better flavor and better portions for the price. The quality of the food to price ratio is off. It's a huge space and beautiful decorated but if they are going to compete with other upscale restaurants in the city with entry portions over $40 you better bring GREAT QUALITY AND LARGER PORTIONS. read more
