My husband and I came here on a whim, after eating at a nearby restaurant. I'm so glad we did! The service is excellent, very friendly and helpful. There are a handful of gelato flavors, drinks and lot of delicious looking things in the bakery case. We each got a scoop- he had chocolate and I had mint chocolate chip. If I was always on this side of town, this would be my number one coffee spot. It is so cute, so quaint, and such a lovely staff. They have coffee selections, tea assortments, fresh made pastries and sweets, as well as gelato for you Italian ice cream lovers out there. The place is just way too cute inside. I found out about this place on the day of the huge Nola Nite Market and came back days later to catch up on some reading and enjoyed myself a nice hot cup with a much needed decadent slice of their chocolate cake. Great little spot! This place has been on my list for a longgg time but I always find myself in the area after they are closed for the day. Had a day off so I wanted to check them out. Just as cute as I thought it would be and so many options I'll have to be stopping by again soon. Everything was great, we had the strawberry shortcake, chocolate scone, chicken salad sandwich, avocado ranch blt, pasta salad and straccatella gelato. And there was STILL more I wish I had room for! I used to go here all the time when I worked in Gretna. Unfortunately, they're closed on my days off, or I'd drive across the bridge to go more often. I will probably make a point to go while it's decorated for Halloween. Every latte I've had at Amore is delicious and the pastries, gelato, cake, and cookies are phenomenal. I am so excited!! Finally a cute cafe, on the Westbank, that isn't a chain! Someone posted about this place a week or so on facebook and after looking at the photos, I knew I had to make my way to this adorable Italian cafe. Walking in, you feel as if you are walking into a cafe that you would find in a storybook- the outside is decorated for Christmas with a large wreath on the window, a nutcracker and garland wrapped around a light pole. Inside, there is a large Christmas tree and Harry Connick Jr's Christmas album playing in the background. There are tables by the windows so that you can look out as your enjoy your treats and free wifi is available, if you have some work to do. They offer all kinds of delicious pastries, different types of coffees and gelato! Do you know how happy I am that there is a place for gelato in Gretna? I think they might be the only place on the Westbank where you can get real gelato. Today I got a frappe and a chantilly lace cupcake. Both were delicious and I can't wait until Amore starts serving breakfast and lunch. As I was enjoying my treat, a lot of lawyers were in and out getting coffee and shaking hands (the courthouse is right across the street). I can tell that this little spot is going to be the place to see and be seen in old Gretna. I loved my experience here and I will return. read more

Really great Bakery in Downtown Historic Gretna! It seemed it took Amore so long to open...but once you see inside, you get it! The renovations are tasteful and thoughtful, a very inviting space. Ordered a couple of Café au Laits and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookies are huge and chewy. Pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee. Amore had many confections to choose from and if you are in the mood for something cold, they have a large selection of gelato. Really pleased to see a Local open up such a beautiful venue. What a cute and delicious cafe. I didn't get to try any coffee drinks but I can promise I will soon. I hope they start opening on Sunday's even if it's from 8-12. The inside is so well done. It got plenty of room for you to sit and enjoy your treats with a friend and chat about life. It's very inviting and comfortable. The treats in the case all look so appealing. We tried the Italian gig cook, because my mom is 100% Italian and makes these in huge batches every year... it passed the test! Tasted almost exact to our family recipe. The brownie was moist and gooey delicious. The chocolate cake was rich and mousy layer was to die for. We can't wait to come back. I'm in love. Living on the westbank I am super excited we now have a cafe with amazing sweets and coffees to choose from. The space is so cute and cozy that I don't even feel like I'm in the westbank. They serve Angelo Brocato's gelato!!! I'm a fan of Angelo Brocato and knowing that I am able to have their gelato at Amore makes me happy. So far I've tried their salted caramel cookie, mac cookie, and a Honey Bear Latte. They were all delicious! I can't wait to come back and try more pastries and coffees. I already know what I want during my next visit - an affogato and chocolate chip cookie. What an absolutely stunning place! It's beautifully designed and decorated. The large mirror and chandelier in the entrance make bold statements. Even the restrooms are top notch, Old Gretna is lucky to have this bakery. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Tables were cleaned quickly. This morning I had a blueberry almond danish, which was heaven and a blended frappe that was smooth and creamy. I can't wait to return. Such an adorable place in Old Gretna. First time here after dinner and looking for a nice place for desserts and coffee. Everything from the details on the walls, around the cafe to the delicious variety of pastries, gelato, and coffee were great. We ordered, *strawberry cheesecake, apple turnover, blueberry cheese danish, chocolate gelato, lemon gelato, white chocolate latte and mocha latte. Everything was spot on! You can't go wrong with this place. I didn't try the drip affagoto but heard it was bomb as well. Long Ave. lamenting the decline of Starbucks and consequently the lack of a decent cup of coffee for our afternoon visit to Gretna, when my mom said, "Stop! Pull in right here. This is the best cup of coffee in town." My sister said, "I'm excited by the word 'Bakery'!" The ambience was evident even from the sidewalk. It was old school New Orleans West Bank from the start. As we walked in, my mom told the story of how this used to be a house with a jewelery store out front. In fact, my dad bought her wedding ring in this very spot! The history of the place adds to the charm. We were immediately impressed by the decor and clean lines of the cafe. Beautiful flooring, wrought iron handrail, arches, gilded mirrors and wallpaper!!! The staff were also obviously a cut above. (It always shows when you pay employees above minimum wage. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that is the case here.) They were dressed professionally and were friendly and welcoming without being overly so. We had so many pastry choices that we had trouble choosing and ordered multiple items for the table to share. Every. Single. Thing. was delicious. The frozen coffee drink was not too sweet, the cafe au lait was smooth and rich and not in any way bitter. The wedding cupcake and tiramisu were just decadent. We ended up sitting and visiting for hours and getting a second cafe au lait each. Do yourself a favor and skip the chain coffee stores. This boutique cafe has it all. read more

This is the cutest cafe in all of the Westbank and luckily, it's right in my neighborhood. It's charming, quaint, and the coffee is GOOD. Pop in for a breakfast sandwich on the weekends and stay for dessert. Cutest hidden gem! Service was great! They had a variety of baked goods to choose from. Oh and they have Angelo Brocato gelato! The latte (honey bear latte) was the best I've had, using coast roast coffee and local honey. We order a slice of the oreo cheesecake and banana foster cheesecake. Banana foster had actually real banana bites in them and both cheesecake had a nice smooth creamy texture. The decor is super cute and made me felt like I was in Parisian bakery. Parking wasn't hard to find although it is paid parking. They do have two tables out front to enjoy on a nice day. Ready to come back for more! read more

Amore is a very sweet new bakery in Gretna. They have a lovely space with marble top tables, tiled floors, mirrored walls and beautiful glass display cases. It feels a little like being in a Parisian café. The staff all seem extremely friendly and happy to help. The coffee is delicious - the cold brew coffee especially is good. I also ordered a few pastries, oatmeal cookies and a multi-layer chocolate cake. Both were tasty. Also, the prices are very fair. The one recommendation I would make to the owner is to put a changing station for babies in one of the restrooms. This is such a lovely spot to drop into with the kids and that would be a big convenience. read more

Everything about this place is great. Walking up to the building you notice a quaint and cute building. The ambiance continues onto the inside. The place looks like Angelo brocato on the inside. The gelato was really good and tasted homemade. We didn't expect such a big scoop when we got our ice cream. They also added a pirouette which tasted amazing with my gelato. I thought this place would never open! So far it has been worth the wait. I have been here three times in the last two weeks. I think I am smitten. I can't wait for them to get the breakfast and lunch menu together and their times permanent. SInce I'm sure that they are reading the early reviews I want to suggest trying to open on Mondays since Common Grounds is also closed on Mondays. Maybe catch some of their coffee sale overflow. Anywho, the place is gorgeous and the staff was really polite and helpful.I tried the blueberry muffin and it was honestly on of the best blueberry muffins that i have ever had (not that I'm an expert). The cappuccino was really good. I went back because I want to try their whole menu. The next time I went it was specifically for the Amore Latte. It was as amazing as it sounds. The orange peel and cinnamon were not overpowering, but worked amazingly well with the vanilla latte. That will be the drink I compare the rest of their menu with! The final thing that I have had from there was the London Fog. It's a strong earl grey tea with frothed milk and vanilla. They are not too common here so i was excited to try it from here. It was as good as you can imagine. If you are a tea person, you will love it. I will definitely come back and support them as they grow and figure out their lunch menu. read more

So I've come here for about 2 year's or so but after tonight I don't think I'll come back... I suffer from PTSD an anxiety. After a year of meds and other stuff, I got a support dog. Who has helped me amazingly feel like I can be in the world. We'll I was asked to leave this establishment because of my 8 lbs Frenchie bulldog which mind you was in a baby hammock on my chest sleeping. The lady was very rude about me leaving... Their rum raisin gelato was one of the worst things I've tasted. That sounds dramatic but it was a grotesque mixture of bubblegum, windex, and rum flavors. I was also unsatisfied with the rest of my order because two out of three things were the wrong flavor (not due to the waitress mixing the order up but due to the fact that the flavor of the items itself was not what it should have tasted like). I would recommend that if you are looking for gelato you go somewhere else. There is a nice place on feret st now. I'm sorry for such a harsh review and the waitress was kind enough to offer me a different flavors so the staff was nice and did a good job in that regard. Also I know that the gelato is sourced from a different place but I have been there before and it didn't taste the same. It was mainly the rum raisin that was bad but I also got Nutella and it tasted like coffee. The salted caramel was good though. I also got a cookies and cream Frappuccino and it tasted like burnt marshmallows. The staff was very accommodating so my review is not trying to reflect on that or the other bakery goods you provide. I was craving an iced chai and this was the closest place to me at the time. The cafe itself is so lovely, two floors and wow that glass case blew my mind. The desserts looked GORGEOUS, I wanted one of literally everything but I had just left the gym so I had to restrain myself, so this post itself is actually about the iced Chai I had which was AMAZING. I didnt have to add a thing, the ladies made it perfectly. I think their may have been some special vanilla they use, whatever it was tasted FRESH and not like Torani/typical vanilla syrup. This is such a bummer because I wanted to love this cake. I loved the colors, and the creative design. The staff is extremely friendly and just great. The cafe is beautiful and has such a wonderful ambiance. Unfortunately the end product did not meet my expectations. Before we made it to the car the cake was beginning to slide from the bottom layer. We thought it was a quick fix, and could just fix the icing on the side and it would be fine. By the time we made it down the street the pineapple filling was causing the top layers to completely slide off the bottom layers. The icing was oozing off everywhere, and our cake was ruined. I took a cake knife and pushed it back as best as I could, but it kept sliding off. I finally gave up, and we made it work work as best we could. Once we cut the cake to taste it, besides being a total mess it was so dry. The icing was hard, and the texture was very gritty. Probably the worst cake I've ever seen. The one delicious aspect of the cake was the pineapple filling. It was very fresh, and not overly sweet. Maybe I'll be back for a coffee, if that! read more
