Upon stopping in for a slice and seeing Amore's Holiday Catering menu, I decided to give them a try for my Christmas Eve gathering. The two different gentlemen behind the counter who assisted me with my order (when I called for information and then when I called back to place my order) were friendly and helpful. Ordering from Amore for Christmas Eve was the best decision I made the entire holiday season! The food arrived on time, hot, and beautifully and perfectly packed, delivered by a smiling delivery kid, and (of course, most important of all!) absolutely delicious! Every bit as good as homemade - - caesar and Greek salads, penne a la vodka (fantastic), stuffed shells (gobbled right up), perfect eggplant Parm, out-of-this-world chicken francese with plenty of yummy garlic knots/bread and it came with plenty of really scrumptious mini-cannoli. I honestly cannot say enough about this catering order from Amore Pizza in East Northport. My all-Italian family was super impressed, and they don't impress easily with Italian food. I don't go here anymore. There is a guy that works there, or maybe he is the owner, and he always looks miserable . He doesn't smile or greet you. Once he answered the phone with "hello". Hello??? I was recently introduced to this pizzeria and have been blown away! My buddy randomly found it and ordered a pie of the buffalo chicken pizza - WOW! This instantly became my new favorite slice of pizza. The buffalo sauce and chicken are outstanding...they even throw sesame seeds on the crust. This is an absolute KILLER of a pie! I've long been of the opinion that the best buffalo slice in the area is at Rosa's in the village and Amore definitely gives Rosa's a run for their money. This was my first time ordering from Amore. I ordered a large cheese pie with mushrooms and onions. Large cheese pie is $16.95, mushrooms $4.00, onions $4.00. Came to almost $28.00, which isn't a problem, but darn it, at least put $8.00 worth of toppings on it!! Save the trip and travel to Carlstadt in NJ. no fuss, no muss, like it's fresh out of Grandma's kitchen. What you'd expect of her Sunday sauce topped the Sicilian style "Grandma" pizza, complete with fresh mozzarella, torn fresh basil leaves and a perfect crisp & tasty crust. We couldn't stop without trying owner Johnny's award winning "best meatball" which did not disappoint. Wonderfully accompanied by a touch of fresh ricotta, we had to take a couple to go home for mom. Best Grandma pie, and most "Brooklyn" tasting pizza around here. I grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn and their pizza reminds me of Nino's on Ave P and Armondo's on East 2nd Street. Pizza is so very subjective. Chicago style, New York style, thin crust, thick crust -- it really depends on what you grew up eating. That said, Amore offers a variety. Thin NY slices are their house style but hey also offer a Sicilian style -- square, thick pan crust -- and an in between crust. I tried the Sicilian. It was quite good. Ordered there large pizza pie for a late lunch and although it was tasty it was awfully thin and small. Large pizzas are supposed to be a minimum of 16inches which shows itself in the size of the crust and cheese. It was good tho! Amore's pizza overall is quite good and it looks as if they offer a fairly wide selection of quality slices to choose from. As well there is a refrigerated case that houses all of the calzones and pizza rolls etc. A nice touch to see these items kept cold until time of serving. As far as their regular slice it was medium thin and with a nice crisp crust that had a nice level of doneness to it without being burnt and gross. The inside of the place is clean and fairly modest but service at the counter was prompt and polite. A solid sleeper looking pizza joint serving some nice slices. Although I like my occasional pizza, every once in a while, there's nothing special about most of the local slices I've experience here. With that said, a local pizza business must do things to separate themselves from the other pizza shops around. That's why I like Amore's pizza. During hurricane Sandy, every place was closed but Amore's. I couldn't believe it. While trees and cars were being blown away and power was out, Amore's kept its doors open for anyone brave enough to venture out for a slice. I was and will always be impressed by them.
