Went here for a low-key sushi lunch with my mom, and we had such a pleasant experience! The staff was wonderfully friendly and the food was delicious. I came in during Halloween weekend and the staff was costumed, the restaurant was decorated spooky, and our entree had a themed presentation. I loved it!! I definitely will be coming back. read more

This place is delicious. We had the cubs roll, Florida roll, and Philly roll; all three were good, but the Florida took the cake. On Tuesday, when we went, they had buy two rolls get the third free. I have gone so far 3 times - the ramen, sushi and gyoza is really good. I keep intending to try other items on the menu but I end up completely satisfied with those items and have not gotten around to the other items on the menu. I had the mango cocktail as well which was a nice touch. 3.5 stars. Went here for the first time this past weekend. Overall we enjoyed our experience but there were a few things I hoped would be better. Food: My husband and I split takoyaki, unagi and cucumber, crazy salmon, and spicy salmon rolls. The salmon was amazing. The person who I am assuming is the owner told us it was Norwegian salmon and I have to say it was very, very good salmon. They also do not skimp on the salmon, which I appreciate. Nor do they skimp on the avocado in the crazy salmon. So delicious. I had a few gripes with the food and presentation. First, the place seems to be mostly casual and trending toward classy but...our takoyaki came out with a little drink umbrella perched in the middle. It doesn't really match the ambience of the place...That is my opinion though. My husband did not mind. Secondly, the unagi and cucumber roll contained a lot of cucumber and very little unagi. Not great. Seriously not worth it, in my opinion. Third, I would have liked more ginger. They give a rather small amount. Fourth, our first three rolls came out on one of those big black slate/plate things. I get that it's more efficient that way. But we ordered one more roll and it came out in this gorgeous ceramic bowl. It looked so much more appetizing and aesthetically pleasing! I think I would rather have a bunch of beautiful bowls than the sad black slab. Both my husband and I were much more pleased with that beautiful presentation. Service: We were served by everyone that was serving that evening. I really don't like this experience. I would rather have one server that we can have a little connection to instead of having everyone check on us. They don't have many tables, it should be easy to delegate. That said, everyone was pleasant and helpful. The person that I've assumed is the owner is friendly. Very friendly. From what I can tell, this place is new and they're trying to make a good impression. I just think there might be room for them to tone it down a notch... They came to chat with us which is nice and can be welcome but they definitely overstayed their welcome on our little date night. I think it's okay to continue greeting tables but I would watch for the line between friendly and overdoing it. General ambience: This place confuses me a little. If I had to describe the way it looks in the evening...It looks like a cheap, casual lunch spot that dims the lights in the evening to look cool. That sounds meaner than intended. I don't know a lot about interior design necessarily but...this is the vibe that I get. There is just something about it that sort of missed the mark. I hope they are able to hire someone to figure it out for them. read more

It was date day and my wife and I wanted to support an Asian owned business- we actually had only found out about Amore Sushi earlier today. Coincidentally, this spot is right next to our favorite bar to watch drag at (Charlie's)! So we immediately knew this was going to be one of our new spots. We picked up a canned margarita at 7/11 (byob for now, I believe since they just opened) and found our way inside. Once you step inside it's like you've entered into an alternate reality- moody and elegant. We started off with edamame and miso soup (so good) and ate all of it. We then shared a Philly roll, shrimp tempura roll, and dragon roll (pictured). Although we were full, it was all so well made and tasty that we managed to finish all of it AND get mango moshi for dessert! We met the owner towards the end of our meal who was the sweetest and asked us about our meal and experience. So glad to have this new spot in Boystown! We will definitely be back! Cool ambience in this storefront sushi place in the proud NorthHalsted neighborhood. A colorful bouquet of lanterns filled the ceiling with color and light. The service was super nice and attentive. The meal was delicious! Particularly enjoyed the tuna tartare appetizer with a quail egg and wonton chips. The negi hamachi maki was really flavorful. I never leave reviews unless is a newly opened unknown restaurant that people need to know about. This is that restaurant. I live in the neighborhood so it was a no brainer to at least try Amore. Figured I would add it to my list of places I easily go all the time not because I love them but because it's close. Amore is so much more than that. The appetizers are great. Get the crispy rice tuna app and chicken gyoza. I've tried a ton of the sushi and it's all amazing. Dragon roll, sugar daddy, cubs. All amazing. This is easily my new favorite sushi place in the city. Also very good service and quick. I don't love that it's byob but hopefully they are working on a license. read more

Popped in for a quick dinner and was thoroughly impressed by all facets of this restaurant. From the ambience to the service, everything was top tier. The food was prepared and brought to our table in record time and presented in the most beautiful ways. The entire staff was incredibly sweet and I cannot stress enough how the atmosphere was fantastically put together. I have nothing but glowing things to say of this place. The owner himself came out to check up on how things were and he was so personable and genuine. Truly an amazing addition to the neighborhood.
