Amazing gels! just got my first French gel w Helen. I will admit I was a little nervous because I go weekly for my French manicures, so my real nails always look on point, but my schedule has tightened up. I asked for her recommendation for what would be the best to keep my nails healthy without chipping. Helen recommended gels. I absolutely love them! It feels like my real nails and wont chip for 3 weeks! They aren't heavy or anything like I was expecting. They are beautiful and I love the French! Helen is the best! I have been getting my haircuts from Amorous for over six years now, and I can confidently say that each cut has been almost exactly what I want. Karmen is amazing; I feel like the more I've been to get my cuts, the more she knows about how I envisioned it and how to execute it each time. Even when I went from short hair to a longer middle-part flow, I felt at ease knowing that she would do a fantastic job. She also recommended products to help style my hair, whether it was short or long. I've been going to Amorous Salon since it opened. I initially started going to get my eye brows waxed by Veronica. She is great at waxing and will sometimes throw in a mini facial. She is very passionate about what she does.She is super personable and over the years we have developed a friendship. I was then introduced to Amy, the new owner, who now has been doing my hair for several years. She is great at cut, color & blow dry. I especially love when I get my hair shampooed by her. She always massages my scalp and it feels great. She is the best at blow drying my hair. I can never do it like she does. I always walk out of the salon with beautiful hair. This is the only salon that I go to on a regular basis. I never used to have a hair and esthetics person. I would just randomly go anywhere. Amy is a great stylist! I've been going to her since October 2009 and she did exactly what I hoped she would. I took a picture of the hairdo that I wanted and she cut it so nicely that it fit my face really beautifully. It grew out really nice and I was really happy with her. She even threaded my eyebrows and upper lip for free just to show me how it was like! Wow, so smooth! I went back to her in January to get a shorter cut. I've never had it this short before, and I was super nervous, but she did a really good job! I also got highlights done, and I wish they would have turned out just a tad bit lighter because the highlights I had before are still showing, but overall I'm quite happy with it. She charged me $140 for highlights, wash and a cut. On top of that, you meet so many great people while you're in the salon because you're right by Disney/ABC Studios and Warner Bros. If you're in the industry, you'll be able to network with people around the area, if you're lucky! I'll definitely be going back, thanks Amy! read more

I don't even know where to begin with how much I enjoy coming to this salon! I have been coming to this salon for about three years now but it feels like more because when I walk in the doors to this charming salon I feel like I'm visiting family. Amy and Carmen greet you with coffee and cookies. We sit and chat about life and family. Oh, yeah and I love my hair! Amy always takes care to not over cut or damage my hair when we are doing any sort of color correction. So many times at other salons when you get a process color they use harsh bleaches and damage the hair. Amy is sooo careful! I'm so grateful to have been referred by my past coworker! I had my hair dyed and cut the other day and I'm impressed. The owner, Amy, did the coloring and the styling and it was more than what I exoected. This salon isn't one of those cheap neighborhood salons. Although much more affordable than the others ($25 for haircut and $45 for hair coloring), theydo not take cleanliness and ambiance for granted. The chairs are great. I'm very comfortable sitting on them. The rinsing stations are very clean and nice to look at. They give you an impression that great service is really done in that salon/spa. :) I'm gonna come back just before Christmas to get a Glaze treatment for $25! And probably eyebrow waxing/threading for $15. I'm in love with this salon. :) Amy is the nicest and sweetest, too! read more

I'm having trouble figuring out how to review Amorous. The salon is clean and bright, the location is excellent for me and parking is easy. My cut was fine, and certainly a precision cut (I'm returning my hair to all-one-length after a year of experimentation, so it could have been a very simple, straightforward trim). The price was a very reasonable $35. So what's wrong? After reading the reviews here, I called to make an appointment with Amy. I had to wait longer in order to get an appointment with Amy, but due to some complications with my hair, I wanted it cut by the person who is so often praised in these reviews. So I waited the extra week. But when I put my glasses back on after the cut, I realized the license on the mirror gave the stylist's name as Monica. Who knew? I'm happy with my cut, and Monica was lovely. Minus one star for not booking me with the stylist I requested, and believed I could get. Oh! One helpful hint: Their credit card machine does not include a tip line. Bring cash or ask them to add the tip onto the charge (lucky me, I had enough cash!). read more

Both Amy and Monica are fantastic and extremely talented. I have a really short, perhaps some would say trendy, female haircut and I was trolling for a good stylist after losing my go-to. With super short hair it only takes one careless snip to go from edgy feminine to horribly masculine. After many botched cuts I found Amorous. I've had both Monica and Amy cut my hair and they both are absolutely fantastic. Not only did they do a great job but they both listened to what I wanted and didn't want. I've found my new go-to. Not to mention they are an absolute joy to spend an hour in a chair with. Great women, great service, and both very talented! I had never had my eyebrows threaded, but after emerging with little bitty scabs from the last 2 times I got them waxed, I decided to check out some alternatives. Threading is neat. It hurts much less..kinda like a tiny electric shock, like when you put your tongue on a 9 volt....it doesn't feel wonderful, but it's strangely not horrible. Anyway, Amy is funny, friendly, and really talented at threading. My eyebrows look better than they ever have before. Plus, I really dig the salon, it's low key and not so Hollywood hip (which I can't stand). I'll be back for the threading every few weeks and I'm definitely considering a hair appointment based on the great reviews and Amy's all-around brilliance!! read more

Found this lovely place here on Yelp and decided to call and see if i could get an appointment for a cut and color, since my regular place wasn't available on such short notice.... and Amy was available! i was happy and somewhat scared all at the same time, since here i was again.... trying out yet another new salon. when i got here i found the place to be quite nice ... clean.... and inviting. I met Amy who did my color and Monica who did my cut... i was absolutely happy with the end results and the service that I received from these beautiful ladies. I love my long tresses but when it comes to a point where I start looking like that creepy girl from The Ring - it's time for a cut. I called Amorous on a fly and was able to make an appointment for later that afternoon. Sweet! When I walked into the salon, the stylist was just finishing up with a guy client. A few minutes later, the stylist, Monica, called me over and led me to the sink to wash my hair. Normally I enjoy this part, but the water was c-c-cold. It made me think of a tip I read somewhere: cold water = shiny hair. So I didn't mind the cold rinse as much. When I got into the chair, I told Monica I wanted about 3 inches off the back, shaped into a U with longer layers in front. Guess what I got? 3 inches off the back, shaped into a U with longer layers in front. It was an easy breezy cut, all for $40! Took a star off for one reason only. Remember that guy client who was getting a cut before me? He came back...just to have a conversation with her...while she was doing my cut. He was a chatterbox all right but she kept her focus and my hair was not in jeopardy. So will I return? Yes. I called the salon and needed an appointment today, she fit me in and did a beautiful job on a french pedicure and regular maincure. I got the full treatment even thought i said I was on my lunch hour. The foot massage was nice and she took great care to make my toes look clean and beautiful. Back in 2010, I was desperately looking for a great, trustworthy, and inexpensive hair salon that was in (or at least close) to my area. I had originally been driving about an hour east from LA to Hacienda Heights to get a simple but satisfying hair cut, but considering the obvious distance it took to get there (not to mention increasing gas rates), it was no longer looking like an option for me. I found Amorous by chance thru some great Yelp reviews and clearly I was NOT disappointed, because four years later (and nearing the end of 2014) I'm still a very happy customer! My hair is pretty coarse and rough, so I've always been weary of how efficient barbers and hair stylists will be able to tackle my hair, even if its a simple trim and clean-up. But Amy, with all her confidence, patience, and skills, has always been able to cut my hair EXACTLY how I want it and send me out the door feeling more than satisfied and fresh with my new do. Without her, I'd probably still be driving an hour out east. So I'm very thankful that's not the case. And one of the best things about Amorous is that for a great hair cut, it's more than affordable. Plus, making an appointment is a breeze because even though Amorous has a healthy stream of customers, Amy and co. are very flexible in scheduling a good time for you. I came here for a haircut a few months ago and I left looking great. I've been back once a month since and somehow the haircut looks better each time. I don't know to scientifically explain it, magic scissors maybe? My wife was looking for a haircut and I sent her here, the cut looked great as well so guy hair, girl hair, doesn't matter. This is a cute little shop with reasonable rates. I came here for a haircut for myself and child and was disappointed. When I walked into the shop I was pleasantly met by Amy, I think. I explained what hair cut/style I wanted and she got started. As she was cutting my hair she talked to her friend about a lunch order which understandable. Then the friend left and she continued cutting my hair as we made small talk for about a minute until the phone rang and she cut while she talked. Finally she hung up the phone for maybe a minute until the phone rang again. She continued to talk and cut until my hair was soooo short. I tried to get her attention while she talked on the phone and ignored me just kept cutting. I was clear when we started what style I wanted and it was not short. When she finally stopped she said its cute. I told her it was too short and she did not seem to care Yes it was cute but not what I wanted. Afterward, I asked her to cut my sons hair explaining that he hates it but will let her do it anyway. She agreed but when he started to sob quietly it seemed to really bother her and she apologized to him and stopped cutting.saying she was done. Rather than argue with my child anymore I just said fine and finished the cut myself at home. If you are willing to be very assertive then this is the place for you, but I am not good at confrontation and just expect to get what I pay for. I expect fair treatment and ignoring your client while you cut their hair for an hour is rude. Especially if you are chopping it all off. Some people can do two things at once and if you cannot accept those limitations and realize the customer has to walk around with that hair cut for awhile until it grows back not you. read more

I am very impressed with Amy and Amorous Beauty Salon. I work next door and after a few coworkers went to get stuff done there, I decided to check it out. I called for an appointment because I knew Amy gets a little busy so I wanted to make sure I could be seen. She worked with me to find a time that worked for both of us. She threaded my eyebrows and took so much time and was very precise. My eyebrows came out better than I've ever had them done. I came back later in the evening for a haircut. I had previously had a terrible haircut done and Amy did her best to make it look a bit more blended and not as bad. While it is not perfect, which is NOT Amy's fault, it is so much better and I appreciate her help! I will definitely refer my coworkers and friends. So I sent the BF here today for his haircut. I am not sure why he got charged $25 for his haircut. I thought that was the pricing for woman. His haircut took way less time than mine and he said they only use scissors for the top only. Therefore, I am taking two stars away for being overpriced for men and one for not using scissors all around for that price.
